Fast moving, lots of energy! Loved the stage scenery and liked that the entire play revolved around the same set. Thought the cast was excellent even though Nina had a 'small' voice' , it fit the part,,, she couldn't have a particularly LARGE voice and protray the insecure character she played

I had the pleasure of seeing In the Heights on Broadway with my 17 year old niece. I wanted her to understand her Latino culture. She was wide eyed and may have shed some tears also! Loved it! Gracias! Keep up the excellent work with choreography and in picking out a hot cast!

I saw In the Heights on Wed., July 1st at 2:00 and loved it. The music is phenomenal and the singers singing it are incredible. Lin-Manuel Miranda has created something extraordinary with this musical. The sense of community is beautiful. I love that this show flawlessly and simply inegrates so many aspects of human life and emotions without overdoing it. No song is too over the top, no number is too glittery - the perfect mix for a show. 96,000 was out of this world amazing as well as many other numbers. Highlights of the cast included Javier Munoz as Usnavi - he was excellent!! Robin de Jesus as Sonny - most defintely deserved that Tony nomination! Marcy Harriel as Vanessa and Janet Dacal as Carla. The entire cast was excellent. I loved this show and would recommend it to anyone.

The story is very real and reminds me of my days in the Bronx, and the piraguas guy reminded me of my father when he sold piraguas. The dancing and the music were excellent.

This was my second time seeing this play. I went a second time to take my daughter and friends as a high school graduation present. They absolutely loved it. The energy that is given off in this play is amazing. The music stays with you after the show. I found that days later i was still humming and singing tunes from the play. I feel that this play is a must see, Lin Manuel Miranda is a genius for creating this. I intend to see the play again in the future.

One of the best musical. If you like constant singing and dancing, this is a play for you. Although I am not at all a fan of rap music, this just captivated my interest. While telling a common story, each character made you admire their hopes, their dreams of success and their pain of not being able to attain it because of where they live and their background. Olga Merediz has the most amazing voice I have heard in a long time. The dancing and singing just kept everything moving.

I took my 16 year old daughter and her friend from Florida to see "In the Heights". I had seen it off-broadway and loved it. The second time and on Broadway was GREAT for me and the 16 year olds LOVED IT! We were in the orchastra but you can see from anywhere in this theatre with stadium seating. Every theatre should have this kind of seating. Great cast, great singing, wow dancing and story line is universal. Go, Go, GO!

In the Heights was an amazing ride through the trials and tribulations which face the latino community in Washington heights. It had a bit of everything from childhood memories to an unforgetable match making which swept the audience off their feet. I enjoyed every mintue of it and it not only identified with the latin community but any race which struggled to make a true living in New York.

WOW! !I've actually been on the net this AM recommending this show to everyone in my world. An extraordinary theater experience. As a 60 year old New Yorker, I've been going to the theater for almost 50 years. This show was so wonderful. I never thought I'd love, and understand, Rap. The combination of Rap, Latin, Rock was exhilarating. I could go on and on but bottom line is "In The Heights" couldn't reach any greater heights. SUPERB!

A touching and sensitive story which depicts the culture and feelings of the characters living in an underprivilaged area of New York. The audience witnesses their struggle to improve their lifestyle without losing touch with their heritage and camaraderie. A heartfelt lesson in empathy and understanding

I love the songs on the CD. After listening to the songs, my family and I went to see this Broadway show, and we thoroughly enjoyed the show. That was last year. This year, I brought two out-of-town friends to see this show -- an excuse for my self to see it for the second time. My friends loved it. I loved it again. It's even better seeing it the second time. The energy, the music, the choreography make the show!

I expected to like this play, Tony winner and all, but i must say I was totally blown away. This is an amazing high energy show with several great song and dance numbers. It also has a strong story and all the characters are extremely likable. My personal favorite: the snowcone guy "Piragua". I have never seen the same show twice in one year, but this might be a first. Brian

In this show, you really had the feeling of being in Washington Heights, with all of the music, the noise, the mix of cultures, and even a great view of the George Washington Bridge. The music, the dancing, the energy, the gorgeous sets, and the multiple story lines were all compelling and, at times, created some very real emotion. I bought tickets for this show because my girlfriend wanted to see it. My personal taste in musicals leans more toward Sondheim, but I loved everything about "In the Heights." I would recommend it to anyone who wants a true New York City experience.

The Broadway play was absolutly up to par. I thought there was going to be more Spanish involved but overall very satisfying. My mother, who doesn't really go to Broadway shows, thought that she was going to sleep through the show because she had been very tired that day and was ready to go to sleep. When intermission came around, she commented that she was loving the play. My father also commented that he loved the show as well. There are several parts that I started to choke up on. This barrio family just brings it out to life. The theater was full f course and our seats were amazing. I thought that we would have had partial viewing since we we in the end seats but that was not true for us. We were in orchestra row Q. Overall, such a great atmosphere. I really recommend seeing this show.

In the Heights is a non-stop musical tidal wave of fun and heart. It's story is simple, but the producers spare no expense with a gorgeous set, impeccable lighting, a professional cast and some of the sexiest dancers on Broadway. The characters all bubble with life and with Broadway veteran Priscilla Lopez, this production has both sass and class. The Sonny character, reminiscent of one of John Leguizamo's young male characters, is a scene stealer, while the Abuela character has fierce backbone. The colors and constant movement from the cast and the effects will challenge any child with ADHD. I went with my 67 year old mother who could barely stay in her seat and my 86 year old landlady wanted to get up on stage and dance along.

Most of the original cast members including Lin-Manuel Miranda and Pricilla Lopez have returned to this production for its last weeks so that was a treat. The music and dancing is exuberant. The single large realistic set with its George Washington Bridge backdrop was interesting and full of detail worth exploring and well utilized by the director and choreographer. At center stage was the three businesses/stores that the action centered around; Usnavi's bodega, the limo service and the beauty parlor. The same set, with its early 1900s NYC apartment buildings and stores in disrepair and covered with graffiti, with fire hydrants, manhole covers, subway station entrance and fire escapes, could have been used for a production of West Side Story. The plot was a little thin. It involved residents of a Washington Heights neighborhood and focused on two young couples in love and their neighborhood abuela, and their trials and tribulations of finding success in New York when you are a Puerto Rican or Dominican New Yorker. It was a bit like a Spanish soap opera, high on emotions and low on plot substance, but the evening was more than made up for by the music and dancing, a mixture of Salsa, Merengue, Hip-Hop and soul music punctuated with Latino dancing and break dancing. Lin-Manuel Miranda, who stars in the production as the bodega owner Usnavi, is also the show s composer and lyricist. He is an amazingly energetic high-voltage talent with the sincerest and kindest face, full of facial expressions that register all kinds of emotions from hurt to love to dismay to concern and with a great sense of comic timing. I think once Miranda hits the silver screen in the film version of In The Heights we will be seeing a lot more of him. It is not a surprise that this musical won the Tony Award in 2008 for Best Musical. It was very original and entertaining. Go see it!

I've been to several Broadway shows, but none of them were as amazing as In the Heights. The cast, the songs, the set...everything was amazing. And I have to say, Usnavi (Jon Rua) and Sonny (Noah Rivera) blew me away. Vanessa, Daniela, Benny, and Abuela Claudia were the some of the greatest characters. Last year I saw In The Heights on Broadway with most of the original cast so when I bought tickets for the tour, I expected it to be good, but not nearly as outstanding as I had already seen. Boy was I wrong! What an outstanding cast! Rogelio Douglas Jr. (Benny) has so much charisma and talent that you can't take you eyes off him when he is on stage. Joseph Morales also did a phenomenal job as Usnavi. And did I mention Lexi Lawson (Vanessa)? I saw her last year in Rent as Mimi and she was exactly as I remembered...astounding. What surprised me the most, however, was the adorable and talented Arielle Jacobs. She simply lit up the stage with her presence and strong voice. I am just sad that I am not able to catch this play one more time before it leaves Portland.

Dear, Unfortunately there we attended the presentation. Faced with little knowledge of English, we bought these tickets on the wrong date, since our stay in New York occur in outubro/2010 (from 08/10 to 16/10). Just identify the error in receiving this e-mail. Previously bought tickets to see Mary Poppins on correctly 14/10 (4 tickets). This trip was planned with one year in advance and this will be an anniversary. We would love to see the spectacle, not to lose the tickets, nor the value of approximately U.S. $ 250.00 (4 tickets). I take to verify the possibility of issuing new tickets to the 13/10 days, or in the latter case the money back. Looking forward, we thank you in advance for service to our request for new entrants. Here, attachment, proof of travel, hotel and tickets. e-mail: [email protected]

I am an actor and have seen many plays, musicals, films and concerts. In the Heights was, in my opinion, one of the best musicals I have ever seen. A perfect blend of music, culture, drama, comedy, song and dance. No one person stood out from the rest yet the entire cast shined which made the production flow smoothly with many colors and sounds. The blend of hip-hop and musical theatre worked flawlessly both in song and dance. The rapping style flowed like poetry without a hardcore street edge which can help crossing over to a wider audience. Incredible, well done.

My mouth was hanging open for most of the show ,amazed at the set, the music, the choreography, the story. Thoroughly entertaining. Saw it with Corbin Bleu in the role of Usnavi. So many theatrical events need gimmicks of some kind- a twist in the plot, a snazzy effect, large casts with tons of dancers, etc. etc. But IN THE HEIGHTS simply relies on one thing: HEART. The book is simple, but within the words comes TRUTH and HONOR. It sings praises to simple, time honored moral values- family, friendships, facing hardships with the best that one can muster. And that is enough to make the play take root in the American Theater Scene! The music is fresh and alive. The dancing and choreography was equally so. The acting was top notch. It is a breath of fresh air!!!! Charming, charming, charming!!!!

In The Heights was outstanding. This is the second time I saw this play. it was so entertaining the first time that I thought of seeing it again with my two daughters 11 and 22 years old. Both girls were able to relate to the music, rap and dance. I definitely would recommend this play for anyone who enjoys "happy and funny musicals." The show was absolutely outsanding! I loved seeing Corbin Bleu play Usnavi. He had some mess ups here and there, but overall the play was phenominal. The man who played Sonny was histerical and Benny's voice was like silk. The female leads' voices were all gorgeous and sounded like it took no effort to belt out those high notes. The show moved and had little just plain dialogue. Time went buy so quickly in the theatre you didn't even realize the time when it was over. I couldn't have asked for a better experience seeing this show. The coolest part was that after they all came out to sign your playbill and Corbin was so nice to everyone. He was very patient and took pictures with everyone who wanted them. You don't see that with many stars these days. The entire cast was awesome and if anyone were to ask if they should see this show or not I'd say its a must!!!!!

OK, so I really didn't know all that much about this show but my daughter is a HUGE #1 Corbin Bleu fan. So we got tickets and she was all excited. Midway through the opening number I was just as excited as my 13 year old! This show has it all ... fabulous music, awesome dancing, great cast, wonderful/heartwarming story, a positive message, unexpected twists and turns, etc. I LOVED IT! And Corbin Bleu was so fabulous. Truly a talented performer worthy to be a Broadway leading man in his own right. My two teenage girls are Broadway fanatics and were familiar with the soundtrack and thought that Corbin's performance beat the original Usnavi (sorry) who also happened to be the creator of the show and an incredible talent as well. But they wish they would re-record the soundtrack with Corbin singing because they think he is that much better -- and only one of them is the huge Corbin friend -- my other daughter is so critical!!!! Go to NYC and see this show people -- you will not be disappointed. This is theatre at its finest! I hope to see it again!

This musical was full of music and dancing throughout the entire program. It was also funny and offered an accurate reflection on one of the cultures that is present in NYC. Corbin Bleu did an excellent performance that should prove to non-believers that he is more than a Disney production. I would recommend this show to anyone. Being a Dominican native of Washington Heights, the evening brought back a ton of memories, good and bad, about what it's like to be a teenager growing up in the Heights. It also made me appreciate the sacrifices made by those in our families who paved the way before us. I enjoyed everything from the song lyrics to the ensemble cast. Even the set design felt authentic. The writing was incredible and the story hits home personally for so many latino youth who struggle just to make it out of the neighborhood. Filled with so many catch-phrases that we used in our homes, streets, and schools, "In The Heights" took me back Home! Well Done!

Last May I saw "ITH" in NYC. I was in line to get tickets for another show. While I was at the Ticket Concierge some people convinced me to see "ITH" instead. I took the gamble and was "WOWED!!! I have been playing the CD everyday since then. When It was announced that the tickets were going on sale in Chicago, I bought 16 tickets in Orchestra without hesitation. I was not disappointed. It was good to see Shaun Taylor-Corbett. He played Sonny. When I saw it in NYC he played Usnavi. The love of this show by it's performers is evident. The energy, the music, the story, its characters........amazing! I even went so far as to write to my local newspaper that it wasn't getting enough press which prompted an article by the entertainment editor who shared my letter with his readers. This show needs to have a MUCH longer run in Chicago. Although its background has a hispanic flavor, it is everyone's story of making this country home. It is everyone's story in finding out that family is everything. Who is our family? The world!

Attended play on Christmas Day. Music dancing and Singing was fantastic, especially Olga Merediz, who played the older women. Her style was infused with a smooth latin jazz sound. Loved it!

I have been hearing about this show since it opened on Broadway, but nothing could have prepared me for the overall theatrical experience that is "In the Heights." Every cast member gives so generously of themselves to tell the story so brilliantly. Javier Muñoz is a standout in the role of Usnavi - his smile, warmth, generosity of spirit (and talent) fill the Richard Rodgeres Theatre and touch everyone in the audience. Don't miss this show!

"In The Heights" was my absolute first Broadway show EVER. I have always had reservations about seeing a musical. They seemed so corny to me initially. I have been trying to come out of my shell a bit and try new things, and a musical was one of them. I thought the show was AMAZING! I was completely captured from the first number and was surprised at how good the musical numbers were. The show really captured what life in a Hispanic neighborhood is like. It was funny, sad, cute, entertaining and realistic.

A hot July wkend can tell a lot about a neighborhood and the people who live there. This is a great family show...don't be turned away if you are not Latino. The rap and all the songs are sweet and tell a great story of friendship, family and sense of home. I kept telling my grandson, who also writes rap, that he should see this show, so off we went...my second time seeing it, his first. It has inspired him to continue his art and love of music in a very adult way. Bravo to the wonderful cast and kudos to the writer...Lin-Manuel Miranda, thanks for showing my grandson that your dreams can come true.

Well...I have to say that the show was just flawless! Javier Munoz was great in the Usnavi role. Evey one was really good and the band was just amazing. The music was wll put together, well directed and just a treat. Lets not forget about Blanca Camacho, Vanessa and el Piraguero!!!Eliseo. It was nice that everyone came out at the end to sign autographs and take pictures. That was great! Even Mr Raul Agraz....who played in the bad. A face I knew from the music scene. One diappointing event was that Christopher never showed up to greet the people. Though that does not take away anything by any means on his great perforance on stage. Man....what else can I say about this event other than. It was so great I may go see it AGAIN!

The show was amazing, all singing was beautiful; they included translations to all Spanish words or verses in a creative and clear way. The set and costumes were appropo. The storyline was cute, familiar, and warm to the Hispanic urban culture as well as the cultures who experience the Hispanic culture. My daughter and I just loved it!

I love Mandy Gonzalez's voice very much. She plays as the role of Nina, the girl comes back to Washington Heights from Stanford Univ. Beautiful clear voice! I was touched the song by Abuela Claudia (Grandma). She beautifully sings conflicts and struggle that all immigrants possibly have. It was brilliant! I sat on the Rear Mazzanine on 2nd floor. But the view was spectacular!

Even more an=mazing the 2nd time! Flew into NYC from Minnesota to celebrate with my wife our 6 year wedding anniversary. Treated my wife to the show and she was absolutely thrilled with it! I saw the show while on a trip visiting family in April, and I think the more I see the show, the better it is! You gain something with every seeing of this show. What a BLESSING to have a production available for both young and old! I want to see it a 3rd time!!!!

this was the second time i saw it ! oh my was it was even better than the first time. The music is so amazing. The only thing i would say that could improve the show is that the orchestra is too loud because many times you cannot hear/understand what the singers are saying and understanding the story seems to depend on it. Perhaps they (THE ORCHESTRA)could tone down because it seems that the singers are singing their hearts out and i dont think they could sing any louder.or/and articulation extreme may help. remember many do not understand spanish even though I do.

I took my wife to NYC from CA for our wedding anniversary. On a Sunday, we saw "In the Heights", which was our first broadway show ever. I'll be honest, I have nothing to compare it to (show wise), but I couldn't imagine a better first show! The set was amazingly detailed, the musical numbers were right up our alley. They story and dialog was young and fresh. We loved everything about it! I don't think the "original" lead was performing that day, but the show was still amazing. I'd definitely recommend In the Heights to anyone.

There was something in it for everyone...something that each person in the family could relate to. The show was upbeat, yet, there were some sad scenes. It was good for the soul. I was surprised that my 22 year old son enjoyed it. I think it was the rapping that kept him tuned in. Along with the fact that it was a "Latino" family. It expressed our culture (i.e. family closeness and sticking together through the good, bad and the ugly).

The talent in this show was exceptional! It's unfortunate the sound system made it difficult to hear the majority of the show. Despite that it was a show that captured your attention from the very first moment, and kept you capitvated until the end.

This musical is great. It has an amazing story with some really upbeat songs. The person playing Abuela does a fantastic job(even meets the greatness of the original Broadway Abuela) as does Usnavi. Nina's voice and stature don't really fit the part. Her songs, which are usually powerful and emotional, are lacking in her thin voice. It is definitely a must see musical.

Moving and musical. Rapping is usually not my cup of tea but this was both appropriate and advanced the story line. A unique approach to a changing neighborhood in the city. Dreams and reality meet and hope remains. Great cast with great voices.
