Duke, Marcus and Dave gave a performance that everyone present will remember. The set list was comprised of the best of Duke's and Dave's music- vastly written by Marcus. Beat that setup with a stick. Great extra keyboardist and rhythm section. The most special part of the night was when all three guys came out after the show and took pics/ signed autographs. Talk about keepin' everything real. Duke, Marus, and Dave, thanks for a great night.

The accomodations were good and the crowd was friendly (true to Charlotte's reputation). The music was wonderful and well worth the ticket price. My only suggestion would be better food choices (for those of us who don't eat fried foods). I look forward to this event next year.

Despite no notification of venue change, the show was very good, with Sanborn and Miller great as usual, and really enjoyed george duke--the Variety playhouse was a cozy venue which was better suited to the performance, so my son's birthday gift was very enjoyable--He's met Sanborn three or four times prior in Atlanta and we have always found him to be a class act

What a show!!! My wife and I for the last four years have attended the Northsea Jazz Fest; however, due to work and renovations to a home we had to pass this year. We found that Duke, Miller, and Sanborn were performing in Atlanta and could not back down. What an enjoyable amazing night!!! We loved the Variety Playhouse!!! We can t wait for another show!!! The artist performed their hearts out!!!! For the price we paid for the tickets, it was well worth it!!!!

The show was awesome!!! I was so glad I came and brought my friends. There were no intermissions - Marcus, George and David played non-stop from 8:30 until 10pm. You good feel the power of the music...they gave it their all. It was a great evening. We are still talking about it. Well done!!!! I am ready to do it again.

This was an amazing collaboration of the finest jazz talents. Duke, Miller and Sanborn each respected and successful in their own right combined their musical genius and performed an energetic and unforgettable concert. Even non-jazz fans would have enjoyed this concert.

This show moved from a larger venue to a smaller one, probably because enough people didn't read beyond "DMS" to see "George Duke, Marcus Miller, David Sanborn." Their loss, because these three playing together put on a great show, with a nice variety of hits from each of their catalogs!

The combination of Duke, Sanborn & Miller was a genius idea. How could you go wrong with that much talent on one stage? The concert was one that I would recommend to any lover of Jazz. The "flow" of the sets took us from fresh new sounds to the nostalgia of the "FUNK". Great evening!!! On the flip side, the House of Blues general admission process is a rip-off. The venue dropped a five star event to a two star event.

George Duke, Marcus Miller, and David Sanborn!!! Three of my all favorite musicians on stage at the same time. Who could ask for a better line up of greats? The venue was outstanding. All three clearly gave us there best and looked to be having fun while working which made their performance flow effortlessly. I'm in San Diego on business, but I would love to see them again!!!

The evening weather was added perfection to a solid line up featuring these 3 three masters of modern jazz. As each performer took the stage one by one, you just knew you were in for a treat as each performer eased into the song with their signature sound and like a shot from a needle that you didn't feel, you were cured of all ailments and now in the groove. Songs were placed perfectly in the set, excellent explanations were given as to many song origins and as expected, these cats just SMOKED. But the real treat was their ease with each other and the interplay both musically and verbally. This facet made the evening an intimate encounter among friends that we all got to sit in on and enjoy. Also noteworthy were the strong contributions of drummer Louis Cato and keyboardist Federico Gonzales Pena. Highly recommend to musicians and fans alike. If they come to a venue close to you, just go. You will be happy you did.

I'm a huge Sanborn fan, so when I saw he was touring with the outstanding Marcus Miller (with whom Sanborn ruled the eighties decade), we had to go. The San Diego venue was so cool I can't describe it. The best jazz venue I've ever experienced, and as intimate as one can get with the music. They JAMMED to everything!! If you loved the fusion stuff of the eighties and early nineties, you will LOVE this concert!

I thoroughly enjoyed the concert. The speakers and monitors on stage were monstrous in size and it obliterated the performers from view much of the time from where I was sitting in Row A on the floor.

The music had me from the start! The sound was tight and thumping! Surprise: David S. sing Da' Butt! Needed a Guitarist (was J. Butler busy?) Also, could have used a little "Guess you're not the one ." Blast and Sweet Baby brought the memories! GREAT CONCERT, especially for a Monday Night!

DMS was quite a trio. The masterfull talents of each artist was well displayed. The only downside was the acoustics of the Uptown. The music appeared to be loud and could have been toned down.

My husband is a fan of Marcus Miller and I always hear him speak of him, but I never knew exactly what he was talking about in regards to his skills until I heard him for myself live. This man is soooooo cold. Such an agressive and passionate bass player. I really enjoyed this concert. It was worth the money. I will definitely attend the next concert he has in Kansas City (and St. Louis).

The Uptown was not packed, but it should have been. We really need a Jazz radio station in the city. We had 3 of the greatest musician in the world in KC and their performance was outstanding. David Sanborn on the saxaphone, there is no one like him on this planet. The master George Duke, a man with a great smile, entertains the crowd with amazing keyboard skills, and Marcus Miller's hard thumping bass lines, these three men are Great Artist of the 21st century. Those people who missed this show missed a great performance. After the show, there was a meet and greet, and each performer took the time to interact with their fans. The whole experience was wonderful. We need to bring more show in like this and get the word out so that the place is packed!!!!

It was simply amazing being able to see three superstars sharing the stage. Each of them a giant in their own rite. They played songs that pleased the whole audience. From Dukes beautiful percussion filled Brazilian beats to Davids classic smooth jazz classics and Marcus' hard driving in your face funk bass licks, it was a truly memorable night.

When you have 3 jazz greats like this, you can't go wrong. The show was amazing. All three artist were very entertaining with a fantastic supporting band. I would not hesitate going again when they come back. Based on this show, I'm even looking at going on there cruise in January. What surprised me is there accessibility after the show. The took pictures and signed autographs until everyone was gone. True artists that care about the audience.

I thought the show and the venue were great... my only negative would be that dms should have closed the show... Gerald Albright did all he could, but following dms was a tough task. especially with a not so ready for prime time backup band..

I attended last year's inaugural jazz fest and I must say this year's show was the best. Each performer seemed to take the crowd to a higher level. George Duke was masterful and Marcus Miller is an unbelieveable song writer. This fest was the best.

The Jazzfest was fantastic. The venue was great and each of the artist was very good. I have to say that George Duke stole the show. He brought in the funk as well as played some of his classics. He is a true show man.

This was a GREAT show. It was great to see the Charlotte Uptown Jazz Fest with a full house for the second year in a row. I hope this means that more great artist will come to Charlotte. It was good to see Jeff Lorber again after all of these years, and to have Eric Merienthal playing with him was too much. Eric could have headlined the show. They both put on a great set. My only complaint was that Jeff mostly played music from his new CD, which is great music, but there were very few songs that people knew. It would have been nice to have heard some more familar tunes. DMS-What can you say? Marcus Miller was BAD! That brother can play that bass, and (as I learned) has written many of the David Sanborn songs I love. They are so good together. George Duke was a nice add on, and he really came on the in the last quarter of the show. Over all, these guys were off the hook. Loved it, loved it, loved it. As for Gerald Albright, he was good, but after DMS, he seemed mearly adequate. He has some nice tunes, but his skills just were not up to the level of Jeff Lorber or DMS. He should have been the walk on instead of the last act.

The music was phenomenal as were the group, performers chosen. However, the prices & options for food & drink were nothing short of highway robbery. In addition, no where on line were rules available as to what could be brought in or not brought in. When we called, we were given incorrect information as well. If you want people to use this venue, you NEED to allow people the ability to carry in things, make information readily avilable & further...enforce the rules you have. That was also not done !

George Duke, Marcus Miller, and David Sanborn were made for each other. You see other artist get together and most are good, but just good. DMS takes you to another planet. No, you don't need a drink or any other substance you just need to be. The concert was last week, but I still have inner peace. DMS means to me: Delicious, Magnificent, Sensual

The concert was incredible! I mostly enjoyed Marcus Miller because I'm a jazz nut. He is a true showman. I loved every one of his solos. His groove factor is off the charts! I stuck around after the show and he signed my CD and even took a picture with me (two pictures because I blinked on the first one!!).

They fit like hand and glove this show ranks among the best I have seen. George Duke plays a mean Keyboard, David Sanborn blows you away with his Sax, Marcus Miller put the funk in base.

David Sanborn is still the man! It was great to hear old favorites like Maputo and Straight to the Heart with David and Marcus Miller. It was great to see them share the stage instead of performing separately. George Duke was a nice addition, but his skills can't match the others and his voice is shot.

The genius of George Duke, Marcus Miller, and David Sanborn was on display and in full effect Monday night. Although the concert started late (closer to 8:30 than the stated time of 8 PM), and ended roughly 90 minutes later (around 10 or so), the nonstop musical joyride was incredible. Hit after hit after hit featuring each musician was a triple treat. My favorites were Marcus Miller's Tunisian-inspired piece that's in regular rotation on the jazz stations; George Duke's "Dookey Stick", and the (surprise!) rousing rendition of Marcus Miller's hit penned for E.U. ("Da Butt"). It ended all too soon. The venue was too small, though, for the CD signing afterward (although the intimacy of the theater allowed the audience to be more involved with the artists, especially with Duke's theatrics associated with "No Rhyme, No Reason"). I love these guys!!
