It was tough to spend $90 a seat to first watch 90 minutes of Monty Python and the Holy Grail and then 60 minutes of John Cleese answering questions from his daughter. You can watch the movie at any time online. Nostalgic yes but poor value.
Very glad I did not miss this once in a lifetime VIP performance at the Saenger in New Orleans of John Cleese. He was very approachable and funny to the last. Of course being front row meant you were bait for his sight gags, which I knew was probably going to happen and CERTAINLY did not mind and was kind of looking forward to it. He grabbed my partner's junior mints and pretended to keep them and threw them back at us. Enjoyed seeing his beautiful daughter on stage as well. Would look forward to seeing him and/or more Pythons in future! At the end of the show the VIP people lined up for individual photos with Mr. Cleese. We were informed that we would not be able to get an autograph, but Mr. Cleese was so sweet and such a gentleman he did not mind a few and allowed some hugs and conversation at the end.
It was not what I was expecting from this comedy legend. If you want to see an old british guy deliver a powerpoint presentation (i.e. read from prompter and play video clips) for two hours, then this is your show. Personally, as a fan and someone who paid $90, I have no desire to watch clips I've seen a hundred times over and watch him unenthusiastically read from a prompter. It felt like an introductory course in John Cleese, when all the students already had their doctorate.
John Cleese is one of my top comedy idols and so it was very special to see him perform live. I found it a little straining to hear him because he often spoke in a low voice.
What a wonderful evening - thoroughly enjoyed being entertained by a great comedic writer/actor. Venue wasn't the greatest - railing was in the way on the mezzanine.
John Cleese among other things is an amazing storyteller. I took my father who is the world's biggest Monty Python fan, and we heard him speak about his favourite times as an entertainer. Extremely memorable, so glad we went.
I wasn't sure what to expect with a "one-man" show by John Cleese but it was a very enjoyable evening. He is a very engaging speaker and all the clips from shows and movies brought back memories of other enjoyable times. He told many stories from working with the other Monty Python members, earlier shows and working on films, which told a lot without really revealing a lot of personal information - entertaining but not getting into gossip. The one thing that might added to the evening would have been a Q & A. I had never been in the Winter Garden theatre and it is a hidden gem, though quite a climb to get up there.
I loved his mix of History and Humour. Very informative and funny funny funny. An entertainment giant, and very humble. Refreshing in this day and age.
John Cleese is one of the most interesting people I've ever seen. Everything from his life story, to his brilliant writing and acting in Fawlty Towers, Monty Pathon and so much more. Had a wonderful time hearing his story's, and reliving his life with him through his memories and photos he shared. Would adore to have lunch with him one day just to hear more. Great show, nice venue. (Heck of a lot of stairs though). Enjoyed every minute of his show.

This show was great. John Cleese like always, was awesome. This show was somewhat of an autobiographical show of his life, his writing & acting in plays, teleseries and movies is phenomenal. I really liked his visuals and the tidbits of his parents life were funny. This was a chance of a lifetime to see him live onstage. One of the greatest comedy pioneers in the U.K. As his show is really well titled, I couldn't pass a chance to see him before he dies...

Not at all what I expected... Really thought we'd see a screening of "The Holy Grail" with John commenting and narrating. But what we got was a standard showing of the movie (kind of awesome in the Saenger, with thousands of huge Grail fans!) with a grumpy old man making unintelligible small talk afterwards with his equally mumbling daughter. Very, very disappointed in the sound quality, John's enthusiasm, and his daughter's engagement with the audience. Heartbreaking to see one of your idols begging for money because he's up to his ass in alimony debt; I'd had rather sent him $20 and skipped the embarrassment for him.

I ve never been so disappointed leaving a show at the Saenger Theater. After being forced to sit there for 90 min watching Holy Grail, Mr. Cleese finally came out on stage. Some of his stories were funny, but there was something off about the show. I think only the hardcore, cult fans of Monty Python would appreciate it. Movie should be after the show so people can leave if they want!!!

Honestly, I was not nearly as entertained by the John Cleese Q&A portion as I was by the airing of Monty Python & the Holy Grail at the Saenger Theatre, but it was a good night all around. I have nothing but respect for any member of that troupe of Brits for helping me mold my sense of humor back in the 80s.

The sound system EQ for The Holy Grail was way too sharp in the mid range, nearly to the point of being painful. This distorted some dialogue. Cleese was funny and engaging - after he warmed to the room. Many of the supposed Q&A cards from the audience proved to be planted ones used to segue into anecdotes and video clips. Still, it was great to see a comic legend basking in his brilliant and dark sarcasm. And the Trump bashing was hilarious and refreshing.

I must start out by saying I am a huge John Cleese fan, from Fawlty Towers, on to Monty Python, and up to his cameos on James Bond. I have seen every Flying Circus at least 10 times and the movies more. I could most likely recite every episode of Fawlty Towers and still think they are funny. This being the case, a friend and I were thrilled to see he was coming to New Orleans and quickly bought two tickets at $115 each. The advertisement was vague as to what exactly we were going to see, but we thought if it was an opportunity to see and hear John Cleese in person it would be worth it, we were wrong. Upon arriving to the venue which was full of fellow fans of all ages and descriptions, we found our way to our seats which were very good, as we had paid good money for them. What happened next was mystifying and a complete disappointment. The credits begin to roll for the Holy Grail and I said to my friend, "I think they are going to play the movie", he said,"No, they are just introducing Cleese this way", but in fact... They played THE WHOLE MOVIE... Now I can't speak for everyone there, but I myself have seen The Holy Grail more times than I care to admit, but at $115 on a Friday night, that is something I have never done. It was bizarre, the whole film was played, very loudly, and to a receptive crowd (although I was not one of them, I paid to see Cleese not a film). After the film, John and his daughter came on stage and basically did a Q and A. This was also not clear. There were note cards scattered by the entrance to the theater saying "Ask John Cleese a question" but it did not indicate that is all that would be discussed. Upon introduction, his daughter begin asking him some of the questions, and while his replies were indeed funny, they were also glib, bitter, and sarcastic. After about 35 minutes of this, interrupted by playing two other bits of tape that were vaguely amusing (a scene from John Cleese giving the eulogy for Graham Chapman and the bit where the Pythons brought Chapman's ashes to the Aspen comedy festival) that was that. In the discourse between Cleese and his daughter it became apparent that this tour was just a money grab as John's four marriages had been costly, most especially his 3rd. While that is tragic, and I hate to think of such a comic genius falling on hard times, it is also not right to play on the loyalty of his fans and show them The Holy Grail unannounced to the tune of $115. The little time he did speak on stage was in fact funny but you could tell his heart was not in it and he really just wanted to get off the stage and move on. He complained of his health, which looked very poor, it was also sad to see this. There is something going on he did not address as his stomach was very distended, well beyond a typical beer belly. In all I felt duped, it was not an evening with John Cleese, it was a brief encounter that is designed to subsidize his expenses, be they medical or matrimonial. I would have gladly contributed to this cause, and happily paid $20-40 to help him out without having to sit through the Holy Grail in order to hear his reflections for 30-40 minutes. I also would have written a question had I known that was all that would be discussed, but again, I believe the billing was intentionally nebulous as nobody would or should spend the money demanded to receive what was a very underwhelming effort to appease fans briefly while making a pretty penny in return. Save yourself the disappointment and just send him some money. It is very sad to see one's heroes in such a state. I wish him well but think he is doing a great injustice to his legacy by fleecing his fans at the end.

The best part of the show was watching the movie with a theater full of people laughing at the same stupid stuff as you. The Saenger is beautiful. That's about it. The movie was shown on a small screen, poor quality, rude people walking around and standing in front of one's view. Cleese was a bit funny at times....however; obviously full of himself. He was best when he was actually relating stories of the making the films, sketches and the process behind it. He was just way too pompous most of the time. I go to things like this for a respite from the real world not to have listen to someone's political talk. Just be a comedian - let the politics speak for themselves. Know when the joke doesn't need your help.

My husband and I are both Monty Python fans so we were really looking forward to this event. However, Instead of being funny Cleese just seemed bitter and annoyed. I was extremely disappointed by this performance. I did not pay this much money to watch a movie that I could have gotten on the internet for nothing and then listen to some insulting, inane, and disjointed babbling, that was at best mildly amusing. I did not have to pay $90.00 each for myself and my husband, parking and a huge amount for bottled water, to watch John Cleese in his slippers and wrinkled old clothes relate tales of the Pythons for a few post-movie moments. Really feel taken for a ride on this one. He has been one of my heroes since the 60's, and I am sorry I went.

The event was nice but the movie obviously hadn't been digitally remastered and the sound quality was poor. It was difficult to hear and understand much of the dialogue - remember the audience is mostly old baby boomers - we needed close captioning. John Cleese was funny and we enjoyed the event over all. But considering the price of tickets, etc. - the movie should have been remastered in my opinion.

John Cleese should host a writers Master Class, he would be brilliant in a setting where he could teach exuberant students and brow beat them with a Herring. Joke was on us...sadly--from 8pm to 9:30 we watched the Holy Grail...no kidding...movie being projected up on the stage in the Majestic...I think we all were waiting to see---is this a joke---we paid this kind of money to watch something we could be at home watching...not just sketches of it...THE WHOLE MOVIE...then he finally came on a little after 9:30---all was over after that---in just over an hour and all old material...just reminiscing stuff---hindsight now---we should of left our thoughts about him from our younger days and watching Monty Python. I think we are all in a bit of shock that we all spent that much money on watching a movie that we own and then listening to him acting somewhat---self-important..

Watched the movie without any commentary or even his presence, ok whatever - I could do that at home. Then spend half the Q&A on politics bashing Trump? No thanks. The rest of the Q&A was good (although obviously canned), but that only gets you two stars - not even remotely worth the $250 it cost me to take my wife to see you. A screening of the film "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" on the BIG SCREEN. Now I and the hundreds of others who attended have seen this film a collective one billion times, give it take a few .... but to see it together and on the BIG SCREEN again all while repeating the lines together ("She turned me into a Newt!") was simply fantastic. And after the show John's very lovely daughter Camilla Cleese introduced and then moderated an hour long Q&A discussion with her father answering audience questions and pontificating upon whatever memories and subjects (politics, the man detests Donald Trump) that came to mind. Delightful. Funny. Irreverent. But a warning. If you are fortunate enough to meet him backstage for photos and autographs and conversation, do not overly flirt with his daughter. John is still a very dangerous bloke. That's a British term. Highly recommend. Get the photo op tickets. Worth the money. And flirt with his daughter.

I've loved Monty Python since the early 70's and.can't count how many times I've seen The Grail, and all of thier other movies, so the point of this evening, for me, was John Cleese. As a bonus we got his lovely daughter and her rescue puppy. I'm not sure how long they chatted after the movie, but it felt like it was over way too soon. I think if John had come out before the movie to introduce it, or possibly added some running commentary it would have been a much more enjoyable evening overall. But that aside, John is possibly the funniest man on earth and his stories were both charming and hilarious. As always, I left wanting more.

I had an outstanding evening! The Fillmore is a wonderful small theater - lots of charm! Snacks and adult beverages were not too expensive. First came a viewing of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, which was an terrific experience in such a cozy theater. And, the audience really got into the movie, even though we'd each seen it about 100 times! John Cleese's conversation with the audience was a true highlight. It was like having your funny, eccentric uncle (that you hadn't seen in 20 years) over for drinks and to listen to him tell stories. Super cool were the stories of his early days, breaking into the comedy business: who he hung out with, who were his inspirations (both in the UK and US!), and how came to be that the Beatles (and a bunch of other British rock stars) financed the $400,000 that were needed to produce MPaTHG. A truly memorable evening! :) ***Note to Fillmore: The evening could have been improved by having Cleese and the interviewer raised up about 2 feet on a dias or platform. It was difficult to see Cleese at stage level, because of all the heads in the way.

An evening with John Cleese at the Chicago Theatre was\u2026 interesting. They first showed the Film Money Python and The Holy Grail , followed by Dean Richards of WGN Channel 9 interviewing Cleese on stage. Cleese, who is now 77 years-old was funny as one might expect. That said, the interview took an odd turn right off the bat as Richards, noting that many audience members submitted questions about national politics, opted to ask Cleese his opinion of Donald Trump. As most actors today tend to have a liberal slant, Cleese noted Trump s proclivity toward making statements without support of the facts. Of course, he failed to note that most of what he referred to was taken out of context and that most of the media does in fact skew Trump s statements based on sound bites and not full statements leaving Trump supporters in the position of having to explain what he means. A pointless exercise no matter how you look at it. The political question and response had the net result of bouncing several of the presumably Republican audience members out of their seats and out of the theatre but not before Cleese noted that his purpose wasn t to offend anyone and they really should get their money back if they were that disappointed. One obviously offended woman yelled back at Cleese that she did say goodbye and gave him the finger as she walked up the aisle. The remaining liberal supporters cheered at Cleese s remaining Trump disparaging comments, while the rest of the audience waited to be entertained. The only redeeming moment was when Richards asked the next question, which was from Hillary in Chicago . From then on, the show was what you might expect. Highlights included Cleese noting that Holy Grail wasn t that great of a movie. That the first 45 minutes had quite a few laughs but it loses steam in the long run. He attributed this to the fact that the Pythons were all writers used to working in short format and that the movie was made on a shoe-string budget. He also noted that while back stage he listened to the audience and that none of you laughed for the last 45 minutes of the movie . Cleese said that the end of the movie is a cheat and that if he could do anything over, he d come up with a better ending. He talked a bit about the other Pythons, his ex-wives and his penchant for teasing Michael Palin. Cleese recounted a few stories we ve heard before about his Mom and kids. He went on for quite a while about his love of cats, with Richards unsuccessfully attempting to show Twitter feed photos of Cleese s four felines on his tablet. Cleese noted several authors he s reading and ended with one question that really went nowhere. Not exactly ending on a high note. It was nice to see John Cleese. He s part of my history growing up and I m glad I m able to help pay for some of his divorce bills. I wouldn t do it again.

Just another egomaniac success story having a chat with a second person after having the audience watch The Holy Grail for the umpteenth time. My god some of the Hartford audience gave him a standing o when he walked on stage. Not only does he denigrate the towns he has previously visited and fooled to attend this fiasco but then he offends women and jews to boot. I am a huge fan of his work but at 77 he should relish his retirement rather than squeezing a few more dollars out of his fan base. I received these tickets as a gift from my daughter. Awful awful show. Stay home and watch the movie on your big screen tv if you feel the urge. When they put up the slide that this show was going to include a viewing of Monty Python and the Holy Grail followed by a question and answer session with John Cleese, I thought it was a joke.

This event was a wonderful stroll down memory lane for Cleese and Idle with the audience being brought along for the ride. The gents discussed how they met, the pre-python days; the craziness of the Python troop; and the life afterwards. Most of the show had the boys in large, comfortable chairs with a large screen behind them projecting clips. Occasionally they would act out a favorite skit. Later in the show Idle brought out the guitar for several songs where the screen became the telaprompter for the audience to sing along.

Wonderful walk down memory lane for those of us old enough to remember the novelty and innovation that these artists brought to the comedy world. The show is a combination of video clips, live-action skits, songs, canned jokes, and genuine conversation between the two Python giants. Do not expect much "new" material, this is very much a sentimental reflection. But, do expect to laugh so hard that your face will hurt for days. For the Monty Python (Fawlty Towers, Spamalot, Fish Called Wanda, etc.) fans, this is about as good as it gets.

What a great show! Some might like to know ahead of time that this is an entire show of sketches. Cleese and Idle lounged in their armchairs telling stories, it was a bit like getting to actually hang out with them. They'd do the occasional skit, show us occasional clips, and Idle played the guitar for some sing-a-longs, but it was mostly wonderful stories that we'd never get a chance to hear otherwise. I loved it! You can submit questions for them to answer. They pick through them toward the end of the show and answer a few. There was a costume contest of Monty Python we weren't aware of before the show. Maybe this was because it was on Halloween? This was my first time at the Hippodrome in Baltimore. Gorgeous restored old theater. But don't get seats at the far left or right, there are tall speakers that block your view of the stage.

We went expecting a night of Monty Python comedy. What we saw was a talk show with film clips that every Python fan has on DVD. There were no revelations or back stage anecdotes that aren't already in every book on the Pythons or included in DVD extras. In short this show was so boring that we left at the intermission, and judging from the activity in the parking garage there were many others leaving too. It seems that Cleese and Idle are just capitalizing on their celebrity and didn't take the time to actually craft a show worthy of the ticket price.

The Q&A session with John was most enjoyable. He is personable and very funny. Having the film Monty Python's Holy Grail was extraneous. Would have preferred another 1/2 hour of listening to John's incites about the movie and his life.

The Monty Python and the Holy Grail movie & John Cleese event was tremendous! My wife and I had great seats and while I expected more of a Monty Python audience equipped with coconuts, I was pleased with the courtesy everyone showed one another. As I struggled with my first job after High School and debated going to college or entering the military, Monty Python's Flying Circus, on PBS at the time, helped me get through those "crazy" years. It was great to see Mr. Cleese on stage, and his daughter's (Camilla's) conversations with him helped make the show something really special. A great time, at a great theater (BPAC). Thank you.

Loved watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail and then listening to John Cleese tell jokes and stories about Monty Python. The sound during the movie could have been better and the chairs could have been more comfortable, but overall a great night. Cleese is still amazing and I could have listened to him all night!!

We were thoroughly disappointed with the show. The first hour and a half, they showed the Monty Python movie. Why? It had nothing to do with the show. Nothing at all. The acoustics were horrible and you couldn t understand a word. This was a time filler and to pay $60 a ticket to see a 40 year old movie? Rediculous!! John Cleese has his daughter as the moderator. She was horrible. She didn t stop moving. Incredibly distracting and she was not needed. She added nothing to the show. John Cleese had some funny parts, but I felt he was somewhat unprepared. Overall, don t waste your money!!

So only hours before the show I was reading some disgruntled reviews. Complaints about watching the full Holy Grail, complaints about divorce jokes, complaints about political jokes, complaints about canned audience questions. After reading the horror stories I actually tried to give my ticket away in favor of another event. I am so glad no one else was available to take it because I decided to follow through and go, and I had an amazingly fun time! Following the reviews I'd been reading, I thought that I would fall in line with other reviewers and feel bored with the film just waiting to see John. Like many Python fans, I'd watched HG at least 2 dozen times over the course of my lifetime. Surely a full length film would just eat into what should have been "John time". No. This was not filler in the show. It was a shared experience with enthusiastic fans. People laughed and smiled and really enjoyed watching HG in a serious theater venue. It was a room full of good spirits. It was a joy to watch, not a chore. A bonus to the event, really. John could have done the same exact live show with no screening. But the film took nothing away from him, he gave a great lengthy talk following the film. People complaining about the film apparently have such a high opinion of their own time that they cant just relax and enjoy whats going on if it doesn't fit tidily with their expectations. When John and his daughter Camilla came out, he had fun, told jokes - and yes, answered some canned questions. Who cares that they were not spontaneous questions - they lead to good and fun stories. There was a very nice balance of humor and making intelligent commentary, particularly about us humans and our relation to comedy. His talking wasn't inaccessibly intellectual, nor was it all silly fluff. Some was a peek into his private life, some about his career, particularly with the Pythons. I cant really get a read on his one over the top style laugh, but he had some truly genuine smiles and a charming rapport with the audience. I honestly felt that he would have kept on talking if his daughter hadn't cut off the time. Maybe the people complaining caught a rough night, maybe things got changed up in the act from when those people saw the show. Well, I had great fun and can not imagine a Cleese fan not enjoying themselves thoroughly. My only down times, but in no way were they deal-breaking, were concerning John's daughter Camilla. She seemed incredibly uncomfortable, not only in her communication with John and the audience, but physically as well. She moved around quite a lot in her chair, it did make me wonder if she was feeling well. She seems quite funny and very intelligent, but her dad-sparring humor was a little awkward at times. I have no doubt there is baggage that just comes from any families with divorce, but it was tough to see that come through onstage. She put the kibosh on his storytelling more than once which felt as though she were trying to rush through. She seemed offended by some of his jokes, maybe even more offended that the audience was laughing. Maybe she's meant to play as the edgy independent young woman reigning in dear old dad, but it felt more like the teacher telling us kids getting distracted and having fun to focus back on our schoolwork. She also told a joke about pants making her look fat. My good woman, get out of LA and take some time away with people not in the entertainment business if you think it is at all possible for you to look fat. It made me feel sad for her, thin as she is. I will say that it was interesting observing them as "real people" with the complications in relationships that we all have had and can have empathy for. I think her father really loves her very much, and I so hope they enjoy the rest of their tour together. I dont mean to be too hard on Camilla, but we *are* paying attention to you, and we want to see you have fun, too. And I do hope you have lots of fun, both of you! *Ticketmaster asks for a description of a favorite moment, mine didn't fit the character maximum, so here it is: John had very interesting commentary on being able to joke with people with affection versus joking to be cruel and the lack of true equality that is exposed when we cant joke about some groups of people. Made me think. Would have been a great conversation to continue.

Saw John Cleese in DC in November 2017 and had VIP tickets. The opportunity to see and meet such a great comic and literary genius was truly a once-in-a-lifetime event. Some people may not understand the genius of John Cleese, but the truth is there are very few people who have ever reached his heights of sublimity of writing and acting and comedy. The highlight was meeting Mr. Cleese in person. He was amazingly warm and gracious. I'll always love him. I was able to thank him for bringing so much joy to millions of people the world over through his work..

The only good thing about this show was the movie, Monty Python & The Holy Grail!!! Should've just stayed home to watch it. Would've been cheaper and saved me of having to listen to crappy, old political jokes. I went thinking that I'd hear some neat stories about the making of the film, but it just turned out to be some old British guy and his daughter trying to act like they were reading audience questions, when in reality it was all scripted. It was like watching a great movie then having to sit through the worst movie possible. If I didn't pay so much for tickets, I would've walked out, which some people did. It's really a waste of money!!! Also talked about all his ex-wives, blah blah blah, boring and not related to the making of Holy Grail. I love this movie, it's hilarious - but save your money, he's not worth seeing in person. Majestic Theater is beautiful, as always.

The movie sound in the theater was shrill and a bit muddy. This is not the fault of the venue, as I have been to many live shows there. Not a lot of concern was given to that, which is a shame. John Cleese came off as an old man who was ready to tell stories about Python and some of his cast mates, but not necessarily there to be entertaining. While I enjoyed hearing some of his recollections, his attempts to be funny that night fell flat. I kind of felt that he was going through the motions. I could have had expectations that were too high, but between the sound production and his seeming lack of engagement, I came away thinking that I could have saved myself a couple hundred bucks and just watch the movie at home. It's too bad, because I was really looking forward to it.

If you are a Monty Python fan and/or a Holy Grail fan then this is a must see. The movie was shown and we all know what a great movie it is (all except Mr. Cleese). Still the best movie EVER. Then the real entertainment presented itself in the form of the admirable Mr. Cleese. He answered audience questions from cards that were available. He talked about his life and his life with Python. No holding back. You know, just a very enjoyable evening with an amazing storyteller. I loved it.

John Cleese was very funny. He was a bit long winded, but that was perfect. I wanted to hear all of his stories... I didn't find his daughter funny at all and when he gave her some time to do her act, I was very bored. Sad to say she isn't funny like him. They had a good relationship though/seemed to care about each other. Too bad he wasn't given the time to talk a few more hours because he had a lot to share. I went home and had to look up more Monty Python stuff because I couldn't get enough.

The venue was partially to blame. It was too hot inside. The sound was horrible and difficult to make out what was being said. During the movie portion, all I can say is that it was a good thing that I have watched this movie so many times in my youth that I can quote it word for word, otherwise I would not have understood the dialog. During thr interview portion i had to strain to understand John at times. His daughter (the interviewer) even stated that John mumbles at times. Speaking of the daughter, I didn't see the value added by having her do the interview. She stated that someone else was doing the interviews early in the tour but she started doing it to ask the more embarrassing questions. She kept fumbling with the cards the entire interview, to the point of distraction. Several times she had a hard time reading the question.it felt as if she wasn't prepared. She blamed it on the handwriting on the card. These were cards she prepared I assume. It felt like it was more of a choice to give her a job and to give her exposure as a stand up. I felt that for the money I spent on the tickets, it was not worth it.

I've been a fan of Cleese's work since I first saw Monty Python's Flying Circus as a child. Like millions of others, I watched The Holy Grail and every episode of Fawlty Towers so many times that I have all the lines memorized. I came too the event with great interest in hearing Mr. Cleese's stories about his art. I left wishing he'd kept his political views to himself. I also left somewhat bored by his stories. It was a shame... I really thought I'd line him more.

The movie aspect as not as good as I expected, sound quality was not good. Also the stage curtains were positioned that they blocked our view of a portion of the right side of the screen. After telling an usher, a venue manager checked it out but they did not make any changes. Cleese on stage was very good when staying away from political statements, anecdotes and family bantering were very funny. Overall an enjoyable evening

The basic premise of this event is you watch Monty Python & The Holy Grail and then John Cleese comes out afterwards. Which if you haven't seen the film before, you totally should. And if you have, it's great to see it on a big screen. Afterwards, John Cleese comes out and is asked pre-screened questions from the audience. He answers those questions, tells stories about the movie, Flying Circus, Fawlty Towers, etc. He is still incredibly funny, sharp witted, and a delightful raconteur. Not sure if the VIP experience is worth the extra $, but just having the movie and Q&A was enough for me.

The movie was entertaining. The venue is wonderful. Mr. Cleese was funny and engaging as he has been whenever we have seen him in these settings. However.... The questions from the audience were interspersed with vitriolic political questions that had no place in a setting where a diverse group assembled to enjoy a shared love of Monty Python. The moderator should have known this and skipped those audience cards. The audience members writing such questions really need to relax and try to enjoy life every once in awhile.

I love Monty Python and have been a big fan of John Cleese ever since his radio days on "I'm Sorry, I'll Read That Again." Was really looking forward to seeing him live, although not knowing quite what to expect. Following the movie, the format was a 75-minute interview, with his daughter posing questions supposedly from the audience. His responses were mostly stories about the old days and not very humorous. Actually, kind of boring. He hit on Trump a couple of times and groused about his ex-wives several times. He used the "f" word liberally throughout the evening, so I would not recommend the show for children. In fact, I cannot recommend this show to anyone. Our general impression was that he is just trying to make money to pay his big alimony bills. Sad. Not worth the money.

I have been a fan of Monty Python since it was conceived. The screening was fun to see the Holy Grail on the big screen as it was met to be enjoyed. The Q&A afterwards was a bitter disappointment.my wife and myself as well as many others actually left the hall during the Q&A session. Mr. Cleese and his Daughter selectively chose question from the audience to direct comments towards the President and his supporters. It was one thing to be labeled a deplorable by HC, but to pay to be insulted by a celebrity is another issue. It now seems since I supported the President over HC that I have never read a book, just as the President. Well Mr. Cleese I may have never read a book in your opinion, however I can assure you I will not read yours, or attend another of your personal appearances. Thanks for the memories of how great you once were and how low you have traveled to get a laugh. You have joined a ever growing list of has beens.

Didn't need to see the Holy Grail again since I have seen it so many times I have memorized most of it. It was neat to see John and his daughter, but it was rather scripted. I was hoping for a more open forum with some scripting. He did have some interesting insights on creativity which are helpful in any walk of life. Didn't care much for the political banter and Trump bashing. Overall it was worth attending and I would recommend it to friends if they can afford it.

I grew up loving Monty Python, my mother loved John Cleese and its little things that make me smile. The Au-Rene Theater is a nice venue for a show, not a movie though, not when every movie theater now has reclining seats and are luxury. This movie doesn't stand up the test of time, and "Life of Brian" was always a better movie. The John Cleese/Eric Idle tour last year had great reviews and I was upset they never came south in the USA. So when I got the alert about John Cleese, I just grabbed tickets. We were asked to fill out question cards pre-show, fine no problem. When the movie finished out comes John's daughter with all the cards, then John, looking out of it, we then proceed to do all the Q&A from the cards with this awkward chemistry between the two. There was no original content, all the content was audience driven and the movie wasn't discussed at all other than John's opening remarks about how bad an ending and movie it was. I left that venue, feeling more let down than I have ever leaving an event. I wish this won't be my lasting memory of John Cleese, he was greater than that. I went home and watched youtube of old faulty towers episodes to try and block out how bad this was.

Growing up with Monty Python, it's hard to not love John Cleese. As I grew older, I expanded to more of his repertoire so being able to hear him speak about his time with the Monty Python troupe as well as solo adventures was a real delight. The fact that one of his children was moderating the Q&A was real icing on the cake.

Program started with a showing of "Holy Grail." Print was fuzzy; sound was garbled. Movie is far from the best Python but good enough. Movie portion of the evening rates 2 stars. Mr Cleese then appears--live and in person--in a Q&A with his daughter. Charm, wit, jokes, memories, opinions for well over an hour. That portion of the evening rates 5 stars. Still the event was significantly overpriced at $120 per ticket.

Broward Center Screen for Movie is too small and the seats are very uncomfortable so an intermission would have been helpful between the movie section and the guest section. They should also have cameras on the guests that are viewable on the screen so they can be seen from seats in the back. Finally, and unfortunately, Mr. Cleese's daughter was not a good moderator. She was nervous, disorganized, and easily flustered. A man like Mr Cleese, with so much of interest to offer needs a moderator that can direct the conversation properly and keep things moving along more smoothly.
