I've been a huge fan of these guys since 2006. I don't understand why they are not a household name yet. I spread the word as much as possible and have created a few new fans around my area. They haven't hit it huge yet, probably because blues music is not one of the most popular genres, nowadays. I contend that even if you aren't a 'blues fan', you'd still have an appreciation for the talent in this band. I love SRV, as does Mato Nanji. When I describe the band to someone who has not heard them, it's basically a band who sounds like SRV but with a bit more 'soulful voice'. Definitely worth checking out. Mato's masterful guitar skills, smooth vocals, and humble stage presence make for a great concert.

The Event Center at the casino was very nice and the sound system had a huge sound. The band was sharp, professional and super talented. Mato was his usual gracious self, but moved through the set a bit too quickly. They hit all of the high points from various parts of their career. The other band members were similarly slick, with special notice going the the second guitarist, a very young looking guy named Levi, who was an exceptional player and definitely held his own on stage with one of the best blues players of the modern day. The set was disappointingly short at 1 1/2 hours. I guess for a ticket price of $20 I can't complain, but we were out of there at 8:30 on a Friday night. We wanted more. Anyway, it was a good time. The casino and hotel were beautiful and we'll return for future shows.

Indigenous always delivers. Great native rock and rollers delivering shredding guitar a la Hendrix. They look like they are having as much fun as we are. Come back soon!

Twice as Good opened for INDIGENOUS, and that duo was great! INDIGENOUS followed and had the place up and moving to great R&B. Guitar work was inventive and fabulous, and the band balanced one another as good bands do. A great show. I have been a fan for many years, and I was happy to be able to see them in a venue close to San Francisco.

It was a great night of celebrating our Native Culture. But to be honest I was there to see Indigenous and it was well worth it. I have seen Stevie Ray Vaughn five times, good and bad and the short set and one song encore from these guys will always stand up to those shows. Who needs a bass player when Derek Post can add the full sound of a 6-string baritone which was one of my favorite parts of this show. What a sound! And of course Mato was outstanding in front and lead. Would love to see them as headliners in another venue with more time for them to play a longer set and better acoustics. Thank God there are bands like this in this great circle of life!

Indigenous was incredible!! Unfortunately the venue and people organizing the event failed to deliver. The sound mix was horrible. The mc for the event was stoned out of his head and embarrassing everyone. The band had to set up there own instruments as the crowd waited and watched. The show was severely undersold - only about 100 people there. Thank you to the band for playing on! Would love to see them in a professional venue!

I thought there was several interesting performers and the lead for Indigenous was an amazing guitar player but they played there music so loud it was uncomfortable to listen to so we left.

Went to Knickerbockers in LIncoln NE to see these guys - awesome skilled musicians. There wasn't much of a crowd, and I believe that was due to the venue not advertising properly. If I hadn't bought tickets through ticketmaster before, I would have never found out about the event - the band deserved better than that, but we tried to make as much racket as a 100 people! The whole band was very cool, came out and met us outside and took time to just shoot the breeze after the show was over. Jimi and SRV would have been proud!!!!!

So LOUD! Hard to understand the lead vocal. Although I will say the drummer was awesome. I pretty much was disappointed with the whole night,

I saw Indigenous at a music festival a few years ago, so when they came back, I really wanted to go. RR is a different experience and so was Indigenous. Bass was awful and you couldn't hear Matos at all. I still listen to their music but live is different to be sure. BTW the warmup band was pretty good.

I have long been a fan of both artists and while both put on great shows, Popa Chubby absolutely blew me away. He owned the audience from the very first note he played. Just a great, great performance. I would enthusastically encourage anyone and everyone who is a fan of blues/rock guitar wizardry to put Popa Chubby on your list of "must see" acts. Indigenous was very good as well although because it was a weeknight and they followed Popa Chubby, the audience thinned out considerably, which I thought was a bit disrespectful to the performers. Indigenous's style of blues is different from that of Popa Chubby and, frankly, should have served as the opening act. But I would certainly go see Indigenous again and I recommend them to anyone who enjoys electric blues.

Had seen lead guitar player at the Experience Hendrix show in Mesa. Bought tickets based on that. Turns out he was also the lead singer and recently had surgery so couldn't sing. Those duties were being done by the rhythm guitar player. Couldn't understand a word. Whoever is drumming for them is WAY out of sync, either too fast or too slow for the remainder of the band. Probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had at the Rhythm room. Every other show I have ever attended I blogged about afterwards to friends. This time, no blog. I wouldn't want to give them any credit.

mato was fantastic as a guitar player, but had his jaw wired due to recent surgery and did not sing at all. Therefore, none of his new acoustic work was featured, and the substitute guitar player sang terribly; he was not part of the expected band. Mato is worth seeing alone; he is a fabulous and creative blues guitar player, but I missed his vocal talent and would have preferred the band where his wife sings. His guitar was tuned too loud and everyone else in the band was inaudible, but even his rhythm playing was fabulous.

There were several disappointments about the concert: 1) Mato had surgery on his jaw, which was wired shut, and couldn't sing -- he could still play, 2) his substitute vocalist -- and pretty good guitar player, Derrick Post (is that correct?) should stick to guitar playing and not sing , and 3) the sound system was all that I'd expect from a basic system without a sound man. I could barely hear Mato's guitar. The drummer followed the rule of "harder is better". But on the bright side, Mato had a great instrumental near the end of the show, Horse was there playing congas and the group came out after the show for a meet and greet. Oh yeah, they only played for an hour -- is that typical? Overall, for me it was worth it, just to hear and meet Mato and Horse. I had waited years for them to tour near me home -- as I live in Hawaii, that means travel to the west coast or southwest.

Its not often you get to watch a Performer "bleed out" emotion that you can see hear and feel. All Blues and rock, no b.s. 8 pm lights down, band on. No intro, no self serving ego trips. Mato is gifted, not only as a musician/ songwriter, but comes across as content, which I think is very rare for a performer. Three songs in my wife leans in and says "he's not hard to look at" I reply,"he plays a little gutiar too". I turn into a 5 year old around "famous" people. My wife had to push me over to Mato after the show to shake hands. I said something bevis or butt head'ish and took a bad picture. After I regrouped I spoke with Mato for a few minutes about his music, i've spoke to him a million times while listening to Circle, "who did you write this for? Did she break you? questions like that. Well, standing in front of someone is really different. If you look up Cool you will find a picture of Mato next to the word.

The band rocked in a small venue! The only downside was the bass was too loud and it drowned out the vocals. Can't believe there wasn't more people there, they are such a good band. Also loved the fact that they came out after the show to talk, take pictures and sign autographs for the fans. Very humble group of guys which seems rare in that business.

Mato took the stage and from the very first note, was playing like a man on fire. I loved that he actually played my requested songs. He ended with Hendrix's Little Wing....UNREAL!
