I wish I hadn't gotten their late because adjy puts on a great show, passion and originailty abound, next up was annabel who always play a great set, their live show is great, their albums are great, and finally the applseed cast graced the stage to play a fifteen year old album, and they were as tight as ever, their songs are always extra beautiful live. Sadly I had up leave early but what an amazing line up.

Definitely a unique show experience...one of my favorite double albums played live in a small basement club in Cambridge, Mass. The album's instrumental tracks, between songs with lyrics, seemed to be shortened a little, but their spirit was still there; it never felt like the set was dragging too slow, and they took a break between parts one and two. The music itself was a little murky, but I think it may have had more to do with the club's size, and its speaker wall/volume. I imagine seeing this show at a larger venue would have opened up the sonic assault a little more. The band were at the merch table after the show, which was cool. On a side note, jumbo cans of Narragansett beer were only $3.75!

I've been an avid supporter of The Appleseed Cast for about 10 years now, and this was truly a treat. All of their albums have a concept to the larger part as a whole, but these two kind of stand apart. The album before Low Level Owl Vol. 1 was Mare Vitalis, which many would say was their breakthrough album with hits such as 'Forever Longing the Golden Sunsets' and 'Secret', the Low Level Owl volumes were more of a post rock schmorgesborg that confused the industry a bit, but for the musical fans they lit up life a bit and in my case definitely inspired me even more to create music. With their next two albums being fairly more successful than the two LLO albums, I thought for sure that those songs were buried, much to my surprise they played both of these albums live back to back in ALMOST their entirety skipping only a couple tracks, even after releasing their newest album Sagarmatha, which is still growing on me, this was a night of magic and it was great to get to talk to Chris and Aaron after the show, what killer guys!

I was skeptical about how these albums would play live, but it was beyond amazing. They really took the music to another level.

If you are a fan of Appleseed Cast, you are undoubtedly a fan of the Low Level Owl records. A two volume album released ten years ago, LLO is the quintessential work from this Lawrence, Kansas outfit. And here they are, playing this dual record in it's entirety from beginning to end...seamlessly. If you are a fan of Appleseed, you must see them live. If you are not familiar with Appleseed, LLO, Volumes I and II should be your next iTunes download. A work of genius, both recorded and played live, Appleseed delivers again with a perfectly executed album. A must see.
