Hem Live and The Sinclair. I have been listening to Hem for years, but to witness Sally Ellyson sing and Dan Messe pound on the keyboard was a treat. Steve Curtis and Gary Maurer where amazing on the strings and George Rush filled the room with the stand up Base. Dawn Landes was a great opener and seemed to revel in the back up role marveling in the ease of presence and clarifying power of Sally's voice. The Sinclair was a great place for the show and I will be back.

Playing music is one expression of the craft. Listening to music is an active effort to experience another's work. Engaging in that experience is what HEM brought to the Birchmere Friday night. Sally brought with her HEM's best. Yes, it's been a few years since they had visited Virginia and life has brought them the usual challenges, but their music was bright and welcoming. Thank you for a great evening.

Best Hem show ever (have seen a few). Great energy and personality. Love the new material and venue. Liz Longley was a tremendous bonus. Bought her new CD and would definitely attend her shw if she were booked at the Birchmere.

Outstanding evening of familiar and new-to-me music by Hem, Little Silver, and Liz Longley. The collective musicianship that evening was fantastic. And the Birchmere was the perfect setting.

Hem is my favorite band. They are incredibly talented, mixing beautiful lyrics with powerful music and presentation that draw you in and create emotion. I wish them all the best for the future. They deserve it. They are also very genuine people.

Been waiting to see Hem for a long time, and they didn't disappoint! Some familiar tunes that were awesome to hear live, and some good covers.

Hem was absolutely fantastic at the Sinclaire in Cambridge! Sally Ellyson's voice was stunningly beautiful. They played with a full band, which made them sound very rich. The entire band had great chemistry and seemed to really enjoy playing together. The band also had a great rapport with Dawn Landes, who both opened for Hem and joined the band for their portion of the show. Hem played a great variety of songs from all of their albums. Hem and Dawn Landes stayed to meet fans after the show. Each person I spoke with was incredibly friendly and appreciative of kind words. I hope to see them again soon!

The Hem show at Bowery Ballroom was great; the crowd had a great vibe, the band's performance was flawless, and Dawn Landes (who is part of Hem) was a perfect opening to the show. Hem's music, as always, was transcendental, and the band was very gracious and friendly.

One of the best concerts I've ever attended! I saw them twice years ago and they sound even better now. Such a perfect blend of vocals, music and lyrics:its all so top notch and even made me cry during one song. All of the musicians make it work and the show flew by...I didn't want it to end!

They were better than expected. They played a nice mix of old and new and they just put on a beautiful vocal and musical performance. The addition of the opening act singer as a backup vocal for Hem was a great decision and added to the beautiful sound they produced.

I have been a Hem fan for a while and they didn't disappoint. Great to see them in person at such an intimate venue. They tended to play a bit more of their brand new songs as opposed to some of the older songs, but all was good.

Hem's concert was enthralling and mesmerizing. Sally's flawless vocals, despite being rusty on touring, perfectly rendered the emotions of the dainty, yet heavy, songs. Rotating the sets by theme, rather than tempo or by popularity, was an interesting choice, but it worked out as not many Hem songs stand out in popularity. The opening act Dawn Landes, honorary Hem member, sang beautifully in both French and English. Each musician performed with high standards and natural mechanics. The group has an honest and fun interaction with each other.
