Fitz & The Tantrums

Fitz & The Tantrums

FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS IN CONCERT:Retro indie-pop group Fitz and the Tantrums are keeping the Motown Sound alive and well with their modern take on classic soul and funk. Combining call-and-response vocals,  backbeat tambourines, and vintage-inspired instrumentation, the band's electric live shows are equal parts shimmy and shake, inspiring nonstop dance parties as fans sing along to infectious pop masterpieces like "MoneyGrabber" and "Out of My League." Riding high on the success of their sophomore album More than Just a Dream, Fitz and the Tantrums are set to treat fans to another round of unforgettable shows on tour in 2014.BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:Michael Fitzpatrick formed LA-based Fitz and the Tantrums in 2008 after purchasing a Conn electronic organ -- an instrument that would prove vital in the development of the band's retro sound.

What a great show! Beautiful night and the crowd was really hyped up by the time Fitz and the Tantrums came on around sunset. Super easy to get close to the stage at this venue and artists really seem to enjoy the setting. If you're someone who enjoys dancing at shows I can't recommend Fitz and the Tantrums enough. They have incredible on stage energy and their songs sound so close to their records. One of the best shows I've ever seen. I couldn't stop dancing and shouting.

Amazing, awesome, brillant! I can't say enough about this band. After seeing them on a late night tv program playing Money Grabber, I was hooked. I can't remember the last time I LOVED every single song a band played. They get the crowd going with their own current, yet reto style. Their music is amazing and the lyrics are catchy. (Lyrics we all can relate to). Their music crosses generations and appeals to all. Fitz and Nicole have a good chemistry. I predict that Fitz and The Tantrums will make it big! I can't remember having so much fun at a show. It's rare that y a band produces so many hits. Wow! I can't wait to see them again!

The band kept the pace fast except for a couple songs. They did a great job of keeping the crowd moving. They played their entire 1st album and threw in a few new ones on the way which were also quite catchy. Highly recommend checking them out live.

Fitz and the Tantrums were absolutely extraordinary! This is not a genre of music that is played much anymore so it was such a thrill to see a young band in their prime knocking this stuff out of the park. The singing was top notch, nearly every word of the lyrics could be heard clearly and the two singers have excellent voices. The band was tight and professional and sounded great. There was not a poor song to the night. You know it's a great band when the cover song in the encore is great, but not as good as their original stuff. There is nothing more damning of a band than to sit through their set unmoved until they pull out a cover in the encore that makes you sit up and take notice - take notice that the cover is a much, much better song. These guys were great, I would see them again in a heartbeat. I drug six friends to the show on the hope they would be as good as their potential and I was not disappointed. Everyone had a great time even though none of the others had ever heard their music before. Catch them next time if you can!

First time to this venue, it is an intimate way to see a band, and LOUD! Capital Cities had the most energy out of almost all the bands I have seen live this year (15+ shows & Coachella & Bonnaroo). I have never been a part of a crowd that was so into a show, dancing and having a great time at the end. At the end of their set they put down their instruments, a remix of their songs was blasting over the speakers and they just danced around with the crowd while still on stage. It was the most fun I have had at a concert. They really engaged the crowd in a fun and energetic way. Fitz was a good show, they have energy on stage, but they just didn't get the crowd going back to the levels that Capital Cities did. Totally would catch this show again! Certainly coming back to this venue as well.

Fitz & the Tantrums are best heard LIVE. I thought I loved their sound on their albums (Pickin' Up The Pieces, More Than Just A Dream) and I still do. If you are a fan of FATT, you NEED to see them live. They were engaging and committed through the entire show. Noelle's energy alone made it PHENOMENAL. I don't know how she does it, bu she did not stop moving for the entire set. The opening act, Beat Club, did a great job getting the crowd warmed up. Great sound from these guys. Can't wait for their CD to drop.

Fitz & the Tantrums is by far the best show ever! No lie! As soon as they hit the stage and strike the first notes, you can't help but find your moving to the beats. They know how to get the crowd moving and participating along with them! Their cover of "Sweet Dreams" is probably the highlight of the show! Fitz and Scaggs have amazing vocals and the band is wicked good!

I've been to plenty of concerts throughout my life and Capital Cities/Fitz and the Tantrums is definitely top 3 of my all time favorites. The opening act, Beat Club, was even amazing! Capital Cities had awesome sunglasses with cool designs for a backdrop, they were SO much fun, and they sounded great. We had a dance party and swung clothes around in the air. Fitz and the Tantrums was just downright amazing, though. Noelle Scaggs has the most beautiful voice in the entire world! They played new and old songs and made us get down on the floor and jump up to TONS of beautiful confetti. If I could see this concert every night I would never get bored! If you miss it I feel sorry for you.

It was my first time to see the band live, and the group did not disappoint. They sang every number, as best I can recall, from both albums, plus their cover of "Sweet Dreams," which they have done in concert before. Their energy was contagious, and they had the audience singing along and dancing all night long. I look forward to catching them live again. It was memorable.

I'll admit it; I only knew FATT's singles when I purchased the tickets and I only knew them when I went to the show. That did not matter though. As soon as the band entered, an overwhelming energy generated off of each member as Fitz and Noelle began to sing. By the end of the night I was hooked on FATT. Before the show, I enjoyed their music, but after watching and experiencing the passion they have for what they do, I'm head over heels. Moral of the story, if someone comes up to you and says "hey, I have an extra ticket for Fitz and the Tantrums, wanna come?" do not hesitate to accept the offer! I cannot find the right words to describe the amazing concert; it's something you have to see first hand.

I spend more time than I should going to concerts, traveling for concerts, learning about new musicians etc. I love music, live music, all of it. I have now seen Fitz 4 times, 3 of their own concerts and one festival where they were the headliner. I also had the opportunity to meet and spend some time with Fitz himself, twice, and he's quite humble. Regardless, this is not a mainstream indie rock band...not that I don't love more than my share of bands in that genre. But Fitz and the Tantrums provides quite an extreme uniqueness that is rarely seen... so much retro is shown in their bands sounds, the bands aesthetic and presentation and even through their concert wardrobe. But in addition, what makes them stand out, is their ability to draw a crowd with their music and lyrics and especially their stage presence, which ultimately creates true fans ranging from at least 18 to 40 or older. This is quite a feat in my opinion. I am 30 and I appreciate true music artists, song writers, artists who believe in their songs and it's so evident from their performance that it is difficult to not to want to jump on the stage and sing with them, just because they not only provide passionate music, but to deliver with an entire higher level of passion, belief, emotions and just sheer love for what they are doing and loving their ability to share it with others. How greatful I am to have experienced this, beyond any limits, a band that never holds back and a band that not only loves but truly feels the lyrics and power of their own songs while performing as much as I do. I can feel excited and sync right in with this band just when simply listening to their CD on the way home from work. So, if you can see them live.. do it, as it will be your loss if you don't. Nothing makes someone feel better than seeing an amazing artistic and entertaining performance by any band, yet alone, a band you have listened to and connected to. Music touches us all, maybe more for some than others. For myself, nothing touches me more..every emotion, every situation. What would the world be like without amazing artists and their music; we are only so fortunate to have it shared with us. Thank you.

The concert was fantastic! The band was interactive and gave such an enthusiastic performance. They also stayed after the show and met with every single fan that waited. I got pictures with the band as well as my poster and vinyl signed. Go see it. They're top notch. Favorite part: During the encore they played Moneygrabber and they stopped it and made everyone "get low" then they started playing and we all exploded and jumped up and down the rest of the song. Priceless.

If you have the opportunity to check out this band you will not be disappointed. The only thing I would say is, as a new band, they are working on beefing up their material to support a "whole" show. They played for one hour and then came back for about a 20 minute encore. Two covers were included in the show. At some point, they'll be at 1-1/2 on their own and then come back and play a 15-20 encore. Nevertheless, great music, energy, fun sound and the price is right. I paid $24 for each ticket. Good time without going broke on concert tickets. Check 'em out while they are still reasonable.

Excellent!!! High Energy!!! An excellent show! A show that you could stand up and dance along with...... I would highly recommend to any and all of my friends. Downloaded their album from iTunes the next day. The in person meet and greet with the band following the performance was above and beyond expectations. All of the band members were outgoing, receptive, and all around friendly! Should not be too long before this band starts opening for a major headliner in my opinion. The band is truely overloaded w/tallent.

Electromagnetic, Kinetic, Gravitational, Electric, Elastic: These are some of the verbs that come to mind when I think of the collective energy/inertia created + induced by this Band + embraced by every member of the packed Audience. F.A.T.T. are faster than the speed of light and sound + it was PALPABLE. There wasn't one moment where they didn't give it everything they had. We have watched them from the beginning + they are a heartfelt, fully present and dedicated group of highly-skilled musicians. They are still coming out after the show to meet + greet their fans with warmth and interest, which counts for so much in this age of disconnect. They deserve all of the recognition they have drawn in. BRAVO !!

What a way to kick off their initial visit to the Hub, and a great way to continue to break in the Brighton, Fitz & the Tantrums rocked the house....The opening act Jordan Valentine and the Sunday Saints started the night off nice with a great performance, they're a local act and I wish them well and great success. The night continued to get better with Fitz & the Tantrums taking the stage, these guys can play ; I've always been fond of the brass; and that guy was on, and the band sounded tight. Fitz and Noelle fronted the band with tremendous energy, its too bad we didn't get the full effect of Noelles' voice, she was battling laryngitis, still they sounded great; Fitz was really giving it his all. The crowd was great and really showed appreciation for them and the band for us; they sang their album, mixed in a cover and a couple songs old and new, the chants of "one more song" led to a impromptu encore, where they sang a newly minted song..... At the end of the show they announced they would like to meet everyone that came out, so they had a informal meet and greet at the back, giving out autographs as well.... Overall experience excellent.....

I had seen a live concert of Fitz & the Tantrums on television but it was nothing compared to seeing them in person! The energy that they exude is nothing short of miraculous...especially at this altitude. They sang so many great new songs from their new album as well as previous hits and the show was full of music, dancing, and fun stories. Fantastic show! Love the interaction of the band. Sax player was excellent. They were the last band I saw at Roseland before the venue closed. They put on a great show. The audience was completely mixed. From a small girl sitting in front of me (I'm 53) to people I saw in their 60s. My only gripe was the two women sitting behind me who wouldn't stop talking. I had to tell them to be quiet and soon after they left, so the show got even better. Keep rockin' Fitz!

Not only did I enjoy the opening band, Beat Club, they were, obviously, enjoyed by the rest of the concert-goers. Fitz and the Tantrums put on a Great show! As always, it was full of energy to the very end. However...it was, literally, VERY HOT inside the venue. I have a theory that most acts who can't really sing use flashy dancing and special effects to hide their lack of true talent (like most mainstream pop acts) but wow did Fitz and the Tantrums prove me wrong last night!! Their energy is truly infectious and mind blowing and I was pleasantly surprised. Even someone who wasn't familiar with them would have a blast. My one and only qualm is how long the crowd had to wait. Doors opened at 7pm and Fitz and the crew didn't hit the stage until 10:20pm. There was a 45 minute opening act (Beat Club and not Max Frost as previously reported) but it felt like an incredibly long time to stand for a set that lasted about 80 minutes.

It was my second concert (my first was Two Door Cinema Club, who were amazing as well), and it was a really great experience. The band was so much fun and very interactive with the audience. I wasn't expecting Fitz to swear so much, but when he did it was hilarious. The first opening act, Madi Diaz, was eh, but the second, Sleeper Agent, did fantastic. Great vibe of energy for Fitz & the Tantrums! They sang with bursting energy all night long! He kept thanking his fans & followers who supported him from the beginning, his first gig was right across the street in Hollywood ! And here he was blowing things up to a sold out crowd! PERFECT NIGHT!!!

I think that both the band and the location made this such a great concert. I love the Fox Theater in Oakland, it's so retro and cool! Fitz and the Tantrums is such a talented band! Love the energy they project and the music is great a little rock, funk and alt all mixed together! The opening band Bad Suns was fantastic, I didn't really know much about them but I am now a huge fan! Unfortunately I was late and missed the first opening band but I heard they were good too.

What a blast to see the unique, fun and musically elite soul pop band Fitz and the Tantrums. Forget that they have one of the best names ever for a group of their kind, they are one of the best acts to come around in a very long time. Bringing a sound that is so upbeat and romantic, people may have to toss their prozac. Couple this great act with the sights of the recently renovated historic Fox Theater in Oakland and you have a recipe for a spectacular evening.

Absolutely fantastic. I came in with small knowledge of the bands and left a huge fan of all three. Beat Club was amazing. Capital Cities had the most exciting set in my opinion and Fitz and the tantrums were a joy to watch. Best show I've ever seen. I would go a million times over

Myth nightclub, the venue, was great for an event like this! The drink selection was horrible, though. The bartenders were nice, at least. I would go back for another concert, but not for night out on the town. The bouncers did well being nice to the patrons, which I very much appreciated. Both headliners were really great. I would have to say, though, that Capital Cities did so much better than Fitz, which made me sad. Fitz just seemed a little rehearsed. Capital cities felt much more organic. It seemed like their heart was more in it. I could tell they were having fun with it. Additionally, the trumpet player was amazing!!! I would go to a concert just for him haha

The energy, the music, the crowd, the venue all contributed to a great experience. As always, Fitz and the Tantrums are a not-to-be-missed performance. They are a great live band and they never disappoint. And,of course, The Paramount is a superb venue.

Was a great show! The only small thing i have to complain about is the intermission between the opener and the the main show was almost 45 mins which seems a bit much

This event marked the second time we have seen Fitz and the Tantrums in concert. It is great to see them in an intimate venue. It's basically a party! The band brings such a high energy level that it's impossible to stay in your seat. This band sounds amazing when performing live. I highly recommend going to one of their shows. P.S. Their opening act, Barns Courtney, was great and really got the crowd amped up for the main event.

It was an amazing performance and in a beautiful theatre. The theatre choice was a bit interesting, and I would have liked it to be something more like general admission so it is easier to stand up and dance a little. But just focusing on the musical piece, it is a night with my girls that I won't forget!

Fitz & the Tantrums are a high energy band that generates excitement through their music. Not a single person sat during the entire performance. People were dancing and singing and enjoying the session. Their ending message about treating people with RESPECT was well - received. Super concert!

Fitz & The Tantrums was a lot of fun. The entire time the theater was a party and people were dancing. The crowd was much older than I thought it would be. Standing room admission worked very well.

If anyone out there has not seen this band please do yourself a favor and a friend as well by bringing them. Fitz and the Tantrums are amazing. The energy by the entire band is incredible (If you bottled up the energy Noelle puts out each concert you could run a bioreactor!!) I have now seen them five times and each and everytime I have loved it. House of Blues is a great venue and the band sounded great!! Who cares it was a Tuesday night. Good music should be listened to every night!!

The dome at Oakdale Theatre was a great place to go for a concert, small enough where you can still see everything that is going on no matter where you are. Fitz and the Tantrums were absolutely fantastic! They had boundless amounts of energy and jumped around on stage all night. I would almost say they sound even better in real life than they do on their records! 10/10 would absolutely go again and am already looking forward to the next time I get to see them!!!

Fitz put on an amazing show, they have a ton of energy, and you definitely hear more of their great saxophone player than you notice on their recordings. The venue was very spacious, my brother and I got to the concert 15 mins beforehand and were able to get within 5 rows of the stage without having to push our way forward.

I first saw Fitz & the Tantrums on Live from Daryl's House 5 years ago, & they quickly became one of my favorite bands. They are fantastic live, and have so much energy. My husband is more of a casual fan, and he loved all of their songs. Every song was upbeat and made you want to dance. The sax/keyboard/guitar player really got the crowd going.
