I've been to the Blues Masters 3 other times in the last 10 years. My partner Todd Nelson introduced me to Chad and Lydia, (Jasmine was in the Belly then) and I was happy to know such an amazing talented couple. Chad has been his good friend and even worked with Chad in the early years of Blue Heaven. This year was spectacular-intimate and amazing, I've seen many live performances, but nothing like this one...I am looking forward to next year already!

The venue was wonderful. The art deco building and decor was a trip back in time. Great, enthusiastic audience. Each group of musicians played long sets. There was also a variety of blues styles performed. It was a great opportunity to see 'Old School' and the 'Gonna be big someday' Marquise Knox.

Just a down right awesome show. Both nights were outstanding. Will definitely be returning next year and the following years.

We loved the show. Charlie's voice sounded great and of course his harmonica playing was fabulous. His lead guitar was absolutely amazing! Great song choices were made, but there just wasn't enough of them. Just under 90 minutes, it was the shortest show I've ever been to. I wanted more!

The show was fantastic, from start to finish: soul-and-body-grabbing blues. The lead guitar was thrilling, the band tight, and Charlie iconic! The casino was gracious about letting the more adventurous of us dance in the aisles, but the sold-out audience was mostly stuffed into small, tight chairs with no room to breathe. The venue was bad - a dance floor is necessary for this kind of music.

I've seen Charlie Musselwhite a couple of times, always a great performer and great musician. Unlike many performers he seems pleased to interact with the audience and seems to be having as good a time as we are. The North Mississippi Allstars were an added bonus, fantastic musicianship!

The sound man was MIA for the first two thirds of the show. Way too loud murky sound from two musicians (two-fifths of the North Mississippi All Stars) trying to sound like a whole band was over amplified, muddy, and poorly mixed. The stage seemed to be set for a similarly mishandled upcoming set by Charlie Musselwhite. And even after Charlie's set was underway the sound stayed muddy, unbalanced and too loud. But thankfully within a few songs the sound board guy, or SOMEONE in the building, figured out the adjustments that needed to be made and, for the last 40 minutes of Charlie Musselwhite's performance, there was magic. Charlie has a sweet frail honest genuine bluesman presence on stage - and in life - that is a pleasure to behold. Thankfully we were able to experience that before the evening ended in disaster at the hands of the sound system.

Blues at it best! Want to call it Chicago Blues...not sure if that is the technical name. Brought me back to memories of the Old Fillmore and Paul Butterflied.. The band stayed after to sign CDs. Very personal.

Charlie was amazing as usual and the North Mississippi Allstars had great stage presence. My biggest complaint was that there was no place to dance. Blues band without dancing? Isn't that a sin? Also - I couldn't understand the lead singer to the Allstars - not sure if that was just him or the mic.

We have seen Charlie Musselwhite five times and we swear he gets better every time. How is that possible in that he is today's icon for a bluesman! Professional, tight and exploding with energy; Charlie and the boys just blasted the crowd with THE BLUES!!!!!!

The act with all three guys was great, especially John Hammond. The reason for the 3 star review was the venue

I went specifically to see John Hammond and was pleased by the mix between him, James Cotton, and Charlie Musselwhite playing together and solo. The Tralf is a great venue, practically no bad seats. Feeling really old though. The first time I saw John Hammond in concert he was 20.

Wow! He's better then he was 40 years ago. His lead guitar player is so tight it's unbelievable. I had to get up and dance - my body just couldn't help itself! Don't miss this one.

Great show. Nice to see two acts on the same stage. Charlie played most of his new CD. Awesome! Matt Stubbs (Guitar) is a real talent. Only wish the show could last longer.

Went with hubby, who was already a big fan, I wasn't sure what to expect or who we were really seeing. Must say, I was thrilled with the sound of his Blues harmonica playing! His group was fabulous, especially Matt Stubbs on guitar, and would love to see them all again. I am now as big a fan as hubby1

As if Coco Montoya's great guitar work and strong voice, followed by Charlie Musselwhite's mesmerizing harmonica weren't enough to satisfy a Blue craving, there was also the stand-out performance by Charlie's guitar man, Matt Stubbs -- a dose of fret board magic that took it over the top.

This was my second time seeing Charlie Musselwhite in concert, and I'm looking forward to attending more shows. His harmonica playing and musicianship is superb, and his songs have a wonderful sound and feel to them. His band is tight and talented, especially Matt Stubbs, the guitarist. Wow, what a talented person! The concert was a bit short, but that's to be expected given the venue was a casino (they don't like their customers away from the tables too long).

It was an enjoyable evening. Charlie was great. Lots of different harmonicas. Ladies sitting behind us were a little too loud. yelling during the middle of songs. John Hammond was a little too subdued for me.

It was wonderful to see and hear Charlie again. I am a big fan of his. I am so happy that he keeps coming up to Portland to see us :-) Charlie is so unpretensious that he sets up his own case sets a mellow vibe from the start. Once the show started it was blues rock hopping. Young buck Stubbs on the guitar was awesome. Charlie and his harmonica and smooth voice made the evening perfect.

Charlie and his band were SMOKIN' on Halloween at the Aladdin. Of course he's THE MAN on the harp and his voice was in fine fettle. All in all, one of the best blues concerts I've been to in a very long time. I hope he won't wait too long to return!!

Great show, Mr. Musselwhite has still got it. One hell of a Chicago blues man, always was and still is. I saw him numerous times as a kid growing up in the Bay area. He still sings and plays in the great Chicago tradition. Excellent band... The night I saw him he had a young very accomplished guitar player with him.

I came for John Hammond, but I definitely was blown away by Charlie Musselwhite. What a great harp player. Seems like a super cool guy as well. He had a great young guitar play with him too. I thought Tommy Castro Band was a little cheesy for my tastes, but the guy can sure play a guitar. Horn section was fun. John Hammond was his usual amazing self. I would definitely go see Charlie Musselwhite again.

What an excellent show! John Hammond opened by playing the classics in the style of the original masters, and mixed in some tunes of his own. What a legend he truly is! Charlie Musselwhite was outstanding, as he coolly led his tight band through a bouncing, feel-good set. His harmonica never sounded better. And Tommy Castro - what an entertainer! The band he's assembled fed off each other all night, and showed the crowd why they earned "band of the year" honors. This was the best show I've seen in the last ten years. The only disappointment was that John, Charlie and Tommy weren't given the opportunity to provide encores to their sets.
