I grew up listening to The Kingston Trio and shared their music with MY children. My mom and my 32 year old son attended this show with my husband and me, and all three generations loved it! The best part was that the audience was encouraged to sing along...which we all did with reckless abandon :-) We bought their CDs and were able to meet and visit with these wonderful performers after the show and they each autographed our CDs. It was a night to remember!

When I was in college (UC Berkeley) in 1958, we formed a trio in our Fraternity (Sigma Phi Epsilon), and we sang every song that the Trio sang, just as soon as the albums came out. We would stay up all night transcribing the songs and learning them for the next party. It will be a memory that I will carry to my grave. I still love to sing their songs to this day.

George, Bill, Rick and Paul really present a great show. I would recommend anyone seeing this band. Their new CD, "Born at the Right Time" is outstanding and is a worthy addition to any music library.

I had never seen the Kingston Trio live, and had not heard their music for many years. But when a friend asked me to go to the concert, I immediately said yes. I expected to enjoy the concert, but I enjoyed it far more than I expected. What a trip through time! I laughed. I cried. The energy, the harmony, the heart. Everyone should experience this at least once. I want to experience it again. What a performance! Such love for the music, the audience, the world in which we live. One fellow replaced a broken string on his guitar without missing a syllable of the song he was singing. That's grace under pressure. My words are inadequate. Just treat yourself and go to a Kingston Trio concert. We should all live with such joy and humanity within us.

This was a show for fans of pure and simple acoustic music and tight harmony. The trio did not disappoint. The storytelling of how some of the songs came to be was the true essence of folk music

The Kingston Trio was great as always. I have seen several versions of them over a period of years. I especially appreciated Desert Pete and the Merry Minuet which go way back and I have known from their albums only. It was nice to hear them live. I also particularly appreciated Bill Zorn singing Scotch and Soda. That was missing the last time I saw them - the first time I saw them after Bob Shane retired. I thanked him afterward. He admitted that it was a hard thing to do since it was so identified with Bob Shane. But he sang it very well!

The Meyerhoff is a great venue for harmonizing groups such as The Brothers Four and the Kingston Trio - the acoustics are incredible even in the nosebleed seats! That said, I thought Barry McGuire was a bit out of sync with the other groups - I just don't consider him a folk artist. His partner is an amazing guitarist-he should have his own show. Thoroughly enjoyed The Brothers Four and The Kingston Trio. The former has amazing harmony; and you can't help but sing along with the Trio. No wow factor here, but an enjoyable evening nonetheless.

Bought these tickets for my impossible to buy for husband and he had a grand time! Midday he had said, "Barry MacGuire will probably do some modern stuff and ruin it." Boy was he wrong, he loved every moment of Barry and the Brothers Four. It was a great trip back. It is hard to accept three non-originals as the Kingston Trio, but the music was great. Their reverence to the original trio made it a great contribution to the evening. Wonderful show...great present!

Prior to the performance I was only aware of one song by this group, or so I thought. As they went through their song list I realized I knew most of their songs and found myself singing along. The members have been performing together for so long that they are able to share humorous stories with the audience and this made the evening feel like a bunch of old friends getting together.

The individual singers had amazing voices and their instrumental skills were equally outstanding. The beauty of the auditorium added to a special night. We were encouraged to sing along and we took full advantage of it, joining in on the all-time favorites - MTA, Tom DOoley, The Reverend Mr. Black, Scotch 'n Soda, Where Have all the Flowers Gone, They Call the Wind Mariah...

What a joy to listen to real voices sing without all kinds of electronic assistance -- and playing (with their OWN hands) guitars and banjos. No one wearing electronic ear dealies to hear what they are to sing, cutting out the sounds of the others in the group -- but all singing together, hearing and interacting with each other. I realize that this may seem "in another world" to young folks -- But music can be made just by the God given gifts these men are so lucky to have. The concert was fun - interactive, music that is new and plenty of the Kingston Trio well known pieces. "The Last Month of the Year" album is still my favorite Christmas album after nearly 50 years since it originally came out on vinyl (which I still have as well as the new CD).

George, Bill and Rick were outstanding. The Christmas music was fresh and vibrant and the old favorites were great fun as always. These guys are superb musicians. Their harmonies are so pure and clean as to be hard to describe. If you want to have your spirits buoyed and a big smile on your face, go see the Kingston Trio. Your toes will be tapping for sure. When was the last time you attended a concert and had a chance to mix with the band members after the show?

The ads don't tell you that none of the singers are the original members of the group. This group does an excellent job of reproducing the music that I knew and loved growing up. It was a wonderful evening of memories. My only issue is that when the performers talked, most of the time, they were incoherent. They did not speak loudly and clearly. They mumbled into the microphone and, frequently, they turned their heads and did not even speak into the microphone. Often, they whispered to each other and giggled like immature little school children. This group needs to greatly improve their stage presence and to make an effort to show the audience that they are working hard to be heard clearly. And, often, their jokes are stupid.

The Kingston Trio still sounds great. They played a number of standards you want to hear live and some things you might not have heard before. And since it's Boston they played Charlie. It was very nice to have another Kingston Trio son on stage for a few tunes for a brief Kingston Quartet. Don't know how long they will keep this up, but as long as they do, I will go to their shows. I preferred them in Rockport,l the Cabot isn't bad,and clearly making a comeback. You can see they are renovating a fast as they can afford. It will be very very nice when it's finished. A true gem of a theater.

The Kingston Trio who came in after the intermission were terrific! Their voices were as good as they were when they first started. The Kingston Trio played so many songs that I had forgotten about. The banjo, 2 guitars, and bass were always in perfect harmony. It was fun to hear the performers give each other little "digs" once in a while during their routine. My husband brought ear plugs as we had been to the Civic Arts Plaza where we felt like we were getting blasted. Not so with this performance. Just the right amount of volume to make the show pleasant. And of course, since we knew some of the songs, it was fun to sing along. I would recommend this show.

The Kingston Trio ( Josh , Mike and Tim ) gave a great show in Thousand Oaks, Cal. They were exciting, sang fabulous harmonies and performed several songs that I have never heard any version on the Trio perform. Their "encore" of Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream and This Land is Your Land brought tears of joy ... Do not miss them when they are in your town !!!!!

After waiting for years for the Kingston Trio to come to Ft. Lauderdale, I was excited to get tickets to see them for my husband's birthday as we both love their music. I believe that most people go to see groups like this to hear the songs made popular by these groups. This was not to be at this show. In spite of their great voices, these gentlemen only managed to sing about three songs recognizable songs. Additionally, they only performed for a little over an hour and they spent a significant portion of that time telling boring introductory stories before singing songs that were unfamiliar. On the other hand, we saw Chris MacDonald a few weeks ago and he performed for two and a half hours! Anyway, the last song the Kingston Trio sang was the M.T.A. and, although everyone was hoping for an encore, they quickly exited the stage and "never returned!"

The individual acts themselves were very good! Unfortunately, when Barry McGuire started there were some sound issues with his mic/guitar, & his performance was rushed. Basically, all acts performed well, but seemed a bit rushed. 1 encore, then that was it. Granted, all acts were in the lobby for autographs, so maybe that's why the performances were short. I was VERY disappointed with the turnout! I'm was embarrassed for the performers! The people that were there, were very enthusiastic, but the turnout was surprising low! Should have been more promotion!

I had been looking so forward to seeing the the Kingston Trio live, and a night of nostalgic music I learned as a kid in the early 60's. What I got to hear was s lot of "new" music, and a FEW songs from the original Kingston Trio era of the 60's. The group played well, the comic and informative interludes were good; it's just that I would have liked to hear much, much more of the oldies. That said, and if their future shows followed suit, I recommend the show, just don't expect a trip down the "sing-along" memory lane.

We attended the Kingston Trio's concert on Thurs. 2/13 in Tucson and it was most enjoyable. Brought back many fond memories of years ago! The music was performed without a flaw. The current Trio are skilled musicians and have wonderful voices. We really had fun--it went by in the blink of an eye! Bob Shane's appearance was a sentimental surprise and a nice touch, as were repeated invitations to sing along with the Trio.

We saw the Kingston Trio on Thursday February 13th. They put on an excellent program preforming songs we all remembered. There voices sounded much like the original Trio. They explained that none of them were the original members of the Kingston Trio and each told how long they had been members, ranging from 10 to 38 years. But they brought the house down when they brought out Bob Shane, one of the original members, complete with his oxygen tank . Bob is 80 years old and he sang several song with the group and he still has an excellent voice, especially for someone on oxygen. Bob Shane was the leader of the Kingston Trio until he retired about 10 years ago. It was a very enjoyable program, especially if you are a KingstonTrio Fan. The Ghost

My sister and I grew up during the late 1950's and early 1960's when the group had many of their hits like "Scotch and Soda", "Charlie on the MTA" and "Tom Dooley." It was wonderful to hear the Kingston Trio performed them in person. Their voices were strong and they actually sounded like the original recordings which was amazing given they sang with the support of only 4 guitars. The trio also sang many songs from their new album.

Only one of the original members of the Kingston Trio is still alive (Bob Shane), and he did a 2-song cameo complete with oxygen concentrator. However, some of the old favorites were done nicely by performers who have been part of the 55-year history of the Kingston Trio at one time or another. They also played some new material from the "Kingston Trio's" first release of previously unrecorded songs since I was in grade school. The show was fun, the performers introduced themselves and the periods they were part of the Kingston Trio so it was clear that this wasn't the original group. I actually liked some of the new releases (some more than others), but if you are attending this show in the expectation that you will be hearing all your old favorites and nothing more, you will be disappointed. The venue (Uptown Theatre in Napa) is unsurpassed, there isn't a bad seat in the house, it has been beautifully restored with contemporary touches like cup holders and decent leg room, and the bar in the lobby actually serves excellent wine! (It is in Napa, after all.)
