I have loved Melanie for years, and this was my first opportunity to see her perform live. I was in awe, of course. Of course she's gotten older so maybe it was a bit of a struggle for her to reach those high notes, but her voice is still beautiful, she's still as sweet and charming as ever. I only wish she had played longer. The show went by too fast, and I was hoping to hear more of the old favorites. She played some new songs. Of course, that's what artists do, to promote their new stuff. And of course we, the audience, just want to hear the old familiar stuff! But she stuck around afterwards to do a meet and greet. She was so patient with my gushing over her, and I even got a picture with her! It was a big night for me. And she was so gracious. There was a HUGE line of people waiting to see her, and she never stopped smiling. I love this woman!

A friend sent me a ticket to this because he's seen her 20 times. I got a ticket for another friend and we went. Melanie was wonderful. She did most of the classics I came to hear (with the notable exception of "Peace Will Come (Please Buy One)," which I would have requested had I known she wasn't doing it). Her best songs are an audience experience as much as a performance, as she encourages audience participation. The only minor fantasy I had about improvement concerned the fact that her acoustic guitar went out of tune every other song (occasioning some amusing moments where her son ran over to tune it, much to her annoyance), and she performed with her son on lead guitar and electric cello and a friend on keyboard but without percussion. She also mentioned she doesn't always have CDs to sell at her appearances. I thought, "If I were rich I'd get her a L'Arrivee guitar that would stay in tune, and become her percussionist and bring CDs to every venue." But that's what you get for seeing a legendary folk songwriter who's been around since the 60s. Hey, this is folk music. It doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to be shared.

Although I am glad that Melanie Is still writing Songs, I was disappointed that she didn't perform more from her early days. I brought my father, who is in his 70s, to her show as a birthday surprise. We enjoyed ourselves, but I think that I had the perception that we would be reexperiencing our memories of her music, and those were the best moments of her show for us. We certainly can't expect an artist to be stagnant for 40 years, but perhaps she can do a show of just her oldies at some point in the future? I would have liked to have known what I was going to see before I bought the tickets.

I was very disappointed that the whole show lasted just 1 hour and at that Melanie did too much talking and not enough singing. It was great hearing her 3 big hits but overall disappointed. BB King had another show so it probably wasnt all her fault.

It was like being in her private living room, and being entertained. Melanie still embraces peace and love...and brings it to her audience. Loved her!

Great show, great venue. Melanie joked with the crowd and sang pop hit "Brand New Key", but also lots of new stuff. Best moment was "Lay Down" when everyone raised their candles (from the tables) high. She is a goddess of hippie soul.

I was in heaven being there once again too hear and see Melanie perform.. Her performance was so powerful...I love that it's just mostly her with the guitar and her son... Like old times from back in the day. A few songs has a keyboard playing which just adds too more heartfelt music.... I saw Melanie at B.B.Kings last year with no added difference.....I also was able too pick up her latest CD EVER SINCE YOU NEVER HEARD OF ME love the title but I have been a follower since the Woodstock Days... So I have been at a lot of Melanie events and hope too be seeing and hearing more of her in the New York area or close surroundings. Wishing Melanie the best . Jo Jo.

Was great to see Melanie perform again, but I doubt I'd see her again or go to BB Kings again. I rarely go to that venue and for good reason. The crowd is rude tourists who talked through the entire show, no one was policing the room telling people to keep quiet, she kept asking the tech to lower the lights and the sound was awful.

As fans for decades, we are following Melanie on her tours whenever she comes back to the US East Coast. This venue was a community College in New Jersy, about half an hour south of Philly. The theater was only filled about 35% (estimated), which was sad, because Melanie was in great shape and in a good mood. Funny as always, and a bit cynical, she sang a great collection of old and new songs. She asked people for requests, and some were granted. Her son Beau, a great guitar virtuoso, was accompanying her as usual. She was singing more and talking less than the years before, so the song list is pretty long. She played for over 2 hours and came out afterwards to meet and greet us, the fans, as she is always doing. She was kind and sweet as always. We really love her! Hopefully the next shows get better ticket sales. We will be seeing her again in a few days in another venue, in PA this time...

I felt that her show was self indulgent. She played many deep cuts and songs from her new album. I understand that an artist tours to support a new album, but she didn't play "Look What They've Done to My Song," or "Psychotherapy." She is not Tom Petty with so many hits that she is forced to skip some of them during a show. During the show her accompianist (her son) started playing "Look What They've Done to My Song," then stopped and shared a laugh with her mother. Well, the joke was on the audience. If you are a die hard fan of Melanie (I'm not) you will probably enjoy the show. If you are not, don't waste your money.

Melanie was a favorite of mine during my teen years. I liked her soulfulness and idealism. Those traits are still evident in the Melanie of today but unfortunately her voice has not aged well. She could not hit many notes and some of her popular songs of yesteryear were almost unrecognizable. She has new material aimed at aging boomers but the new songs lack the impact and emotional appeal of her earlier work. I will always love the Melanie of my youth and I'm grateful for the sense of closure I obtained from seeing her in concert.

The concert supposed to start at 8:00pm, instead much younger woman took the stage and presented mostly her songs accompanied by good, matured band and occassionally by her brother, Beau-Jarred, that exhibited impressive command of a guitar. Songs were in the style of Mealanie or Janis Joplin that perfectly fit what I have expected to hear. She was so good that I had to inquire about her name and bought Jeordie's CD. After 10:00pm the stage was cleaned up and Jeordie announced her ... mom(!). This was the favorite moment of the show, unexpected and so pleasantly received. Melanie didn't grow out of a hippie, retained her strong voice and unforgettable style that is currently imitated by Adele. Show was definitely worth the money and atmosphere of The Rhytm Room added to the positive experinece.

Can't believe I didn't appreciate Melanie more when her popularity crested more than 30 years ago. Her lyrics -- both new and old -- remain great contemporary comments on love and life. Her warm voice (despite an on-stage fight with a sore throat) and animated delivery add to her entertainment quotient. Combine this with the humorous banter between songs and it all adds up to an entertaining evening. The bonus was the participation of her son and daughter in her act -- both of whom are accomplished musicians in their own right. Rediscover Melanie and appreciate her in a way you didn't before. Or discover her for the first time and update your repertoire of ageless favorites.

Melanie's voice sounds great and it was so much fun to share an evening with her! Her lyrics are beautiful and heartbreaking, her voice still haunting, her guitar as powerful as ever. My one complaint is that there was an act following hers and we did not know that the evening would be so short. I wish she could have performed a few more songs. We love you Melanie! Come back soon!!!!

Melanie! What can I say? She's still got an incredible voice, and a presence that brings Divine Love and Light into everything she does. Melanie didn't "put on" a show. She brought herself in front of an adoring crowd of loyal fans that have followed her all these years for a reason: she's kept her music and it's message of love and togetherness pure and real.

Melanie is as good now as she was back when. This show Beau (her son) played well. Sometimes his spanish calypso type playing gets a little too much, but not this show he was great and she was awesome

tiquilla is still her best friend. Didn't even sing a song all the way through. It was very sad, I wish I hadn't gone to the show and kept the pleasant memories I used to have about her and her singing.

Melanie! What can I say? The entire show was FANTASTIC! When we pulled up to The Rhythm Room, the line was stretching from the door all the way out into the parking lot and we were near the end. I was afraid that we wouldn't have a good seat but the club is set up so that there is not a bad seat in the house. We sat near the back in the bar area and were very happy with our line of view. Beau was already playing when we entered and was excellent, as always. Jeordie then did a set and she was great as well. Her "look" reminded me of Melanie's photo on the cover of "Precious Cargo," hat, blonde hair and all. She did a fabulous version of Melanie's, "Tonight's the Kind of Night," and she should record it. Stunning! Then....MELANIE! She was gorgeous and started with "Beautiful People." She used to do it as an encore and I was very happy that she opened with it. It was a stunning version and I always fall in love all over again with this song when she sings it live. Other chestnuts were "Brand New Key," and a great version of "Peace WIll Come." Also, "Look What They Done to My Song, Ma." I never tire of these songs. She actually began "Look/Ma" with her speech about "If they ever made a movie of my life...." and it was hilarious. Every time she does this, she expands on it and it gets funnier and funnier. She is such and actress and comedian!! She also did a romping version of "There's an Angel Watching Over You," which she said she wrote for Peter after he had his first heart attack a year ago. The audience loved it! From her new album, she also did "A Kiss From the Heart." The more I listen to this song, the more I love it. Also, "I Tried to Die Young," and "Hush-a-Bye," both stunning. One of my favorite moments was when she said, "Mmm, what should I do next," and many audience members shouted out older songs like, "Alexander Beetle," and "Christopher Robin," and "Ruby Tuesday." She stopped and thought about it for a nano second and quitely said, something like, "OK, let's see, um, I'm not going to do any of those." She then went on to her new songs from "Ever Since You Never Heard of Me." She could have gone on all night, I think, but there was another act scheduled and a woman went up to her at the end and kind of said, "I'm kicking you off the stage." Melanie said, "Well, I can't leave without singing "Lay Down," much to the audience's approval. I know I'm leaving a lot out so someone, David? Sunshing?, fill in the gaps. It was a great evening and my heart is still filled from being close to it all. K 2 seconds ago · Like · Comment · Unsubscribe

It had been 38 years since I last saw Melanie in concert and I was not disappointed! She was and is an amazing artist. Her voice is so beautiful and her personality matches. It was the first time I have ever seen Beau (her son) and Jeordie (her daughter) perform and they are wonderful, too! If you have an opportunity to see Melanie, don't pass it up!
