I am not good at writing a review. What I can say is at this show there was something for everyone. I had a great time. The Wiltern staff was great.

As a kid, I missed the opportunity to see Samhain play live by 4 years. So, for me this night was nothing short of a childhood dream come true. Great sound, great venue, good times.

Samhain on Halloween was a once in a lifetime event. DC was lucky enough to hear Halloween!

Amazing show. Watching Samhain on Halloween is like catching lighting in a bottle.

Samhain's Halloween performance at DC's Howard theater excelled at the solid and visceral performance one would expect of seasoned professionals. Glenn Danzig's energy remained at a high level and his singing sounded strong and well-honed. The ensemble sounded glad to be there, and happy to play the material I had waited three decades to see performed live. Highlights included "All Hell Breaks Loose;" "Unholy Passion;" and the overwhelmingly appropriate classic, "Halloween II" (to distinguish it from the Misfits' "Halloween.") While the overall instrumentation heralded a heavy metal act at the top of their prime, the energy and enthusiasm that Danzig brought bespoke a punk rock attitude, and that hybrid is exactly what elevated both the Misfits and Samhain to their current cult fame -- the capacity to blend idioms and audiences that once wouldn't be seen in the same room together. This show did not astound me or elevate me to levels of delirium -- the guitars were too bright and clean (should have tuned them down, distorted them far more), but on a Friday night at the end of a difficult week, this concert was the elixir I needed.

Goatwhore sounded really good. Samhain was good, but guitars and microphone were too distorted. Danzig was hard to understand at times. Overall, I would recommend this show for fans because this is the last time they are playing together. I was disappointed that fans were NOT allowed to take any pictures or videos during the show. They threatened to kick anyone out who did so.

Kyng was ok, until they started talking smack about LA audiences- we went to the smoking area at that point in their set. Goatwhore was up next, and they kicked tail! Heavy, fast, melodic ... good stuff. I'm a huge Danzig fan, but not too familiar with Samhain's tunes. So honestly most of their set kinda ran together for me. They did play a few Misfits tunes, but the band didn't sound that great on them (I catch Danzig everytime he comes through, and during the Danzig/Misfits dual show a few years ago, they killed the Misfits tunes). Note that two nights after this show, a man was gunned down within 1 block of the Wiltern- so be real careful in this area.

One of Danzig's best show that I've seen! & I seen many. Can't stop thinking about it.
