He's amazing! You'll get dizzy just watching him dance all over the stage, but he will mesmerize you and soon, you'll be swaying with him! He does new stuff and he brings in the old songs that you remember from J. Geils. He is phenomenal, he has a great band and you will not be disappointed. He's a great person, he's fan-based and he is a great talker and he will tell you stories 'til you are blue in the face, he will make you laugh, he might make you cry, but he surely will keep you dancin'!!! Awesome!

Though I have been a fan of the J. Geils Band since being introduced to them with "Full House" and owning all of his solo recordings, I had never seen Peter Wolf live until now. And I am sorry that I waited so long. Before the show started, it was announced that taking photos and videos during the show was strictly prohibited. A group of hard core fans known as the Wolf Pack who I was standing next to, confirmed that Peter was serious about this and had been known to call out violators. Being right up front and not wanting to be the object of scorn I picked my spots and snuck a few but did not dare take video of an entire song. Pictures would not even begin to tell the story, that video would as he and his kick-ass band went from high energy rockers to soul and country-tinged ballads with ease. Peter told both serious (tribute to Merle Haggard) and funny (blowing up microwaves on Thanksgiving) stories to introduce just about every song. He was all over the stage through, dancing, jumping, on his knees, and having a great time interacting with the audience. During his performance of "Lights Out" he took my album, held it up and tried to recreate the pose on the back cover. As he was closing out his final song for the night, he autographed it. He performed a lot of songs from his new LP, "A Cure For Loneliiness" including a blue grass version of "Love Stinks" and lots of other J. Geils songs including "Cry One More Time," "The Usual Place," "Must of Got Lost," "Lookin' For a Love," and "Give It To Me." Definitely will go see him again next time around.

Peter brought the same energy and crowd pleasing personal touch to Indian Ranch. I've seen the J Giels Band and Peter close to 40 times over the years and have never been anything but pleased by the performance. Peter has aged gracefully and has found a nice mix of songs to please everyone in attendance.

Peter's voice sounded excellent, the band was awesome and his solo music is so good!I was very skeptical that the new CD could come close to being as good as Sleepless(my favorite CD) but it is. He also had a lot of interesting and funny stories about his career that he shared. Peter is like a fine wine, he gets better with age! Hope he's working on his next CD right now. He's just so talented! If he schedules more shows you should definitely go. It'll be the best show you've ever seen.

The show was outstanding, and Peter Wold and Band not only put on an energy FILLED performance, but also told some amazing stories about his early days and the likes of Muddy Waters in Boston, and some other great anecdotes about the life and times of a very well connected Rock'n Roller. On the way out, I bought 3 copies of his newest CD, so I can share with some friends that I know will love the music...folky, bluesie ballads complete with harmonica and great vocals...Hats off to the old man who has had a very welcome resurgence!!!

This show was far more than I had expected. This was not the first time I have seen Peter Wolf, so I knew I would see a great show. I was blown away by what I experienced. A great mix of classic Geils and the new Wolf songs. The energy was amazing. The stories were an unexpected surprise. Even if someone was not familiar with the current music of Peter Wolf, I would highly recommend this show. As always, Wolf never disappoints.

Wolf mixed it up well with old bang out songs like; Must've Got Lost and Nightime as well as things from his two solo albums. The band was a good match for him and produced a lot of high energy to compliment Peter. All in all it was a good night out with a very high entertainment value.

Peter Wolf was tremendous along with his very talented band. The Woofa Goofa played a wonderful set of new tracks from Midnight Souveniers, while mixing in some old Geils Band classics like Give it to Me, Musta Got Lost and Cry One More Time!! Wolfs' musical talents are wide-ranging, from the Blues to Country, to good old fashioned rock and roll. In addition to his marvelous musical talent, Peter Wolf is the ULTIMATE SHOWMAN, energizing the crowd throughout the show, engaging the crowd after each song, and even strolling out into the audience for a song. The show was simply one of the finest live performances I have ever seen!!!!!!

Great show, never had seats in St. Andrews hall before but it worked...little cramped moving around but it fit the vibe of the show since most of it was fairly laid back....it did build as the night went on and Peter started playing more J. Geils material. His band was tight as anyone I've ever seen and really added to the show. It definitely felt like a "moment" was going on that night. I wish I could see this show again. I hope he doese more solo shows and comes back to Detroit.

Saw Wolf last night and as expected, he delivered in fine fashion. Starting off the show with a couple cuts from his brand new CD Midnight Souveniers. He then pulled out a remake of Homework the original Geils classic from so long ago and it was clear that the Detroit "Lovefest" was in full swing. Peter calmly and passionately spoke to the crowd between each song like he was giving a personal concert for everyone in the hall. Peter then tore through his new version of Thick as Thieves from Midnight Souvenires and then the Detroit Party really got started with a couple classics from The J. Geils Band. Peter sang Musta Got Lost, Give it To Me, Love Stinks, and Nightime as if his new band was all that he ever had. His passion and dedication to his craft shows not only in his live performance but also in his dedication to making sure his fan get the most that they can from seeing him live. A MUST SEE for ANY Geils fan

Peter Wolf rocked for 2 string hours. Playing both solo and J. Geils music. In historic St Andrews Hall in downtown Detroit. The small venue was perfect for a r ockin show. Patrons pounded their feet on the balcony floor, that sent a vibration throughout the old building. They played multiple encore songs that left both the audience and band member satisfied.

Was a little bummed that he had asked for chairs, because that made it difficult to dance, but it actually turned out okay. The wuffa started out pretty mellow, I was surprised, but told the crowd we would get to stompin' soon. All around it was a good concert. Not as good as J. Geils, but can't expect that from a 60+ year old man, I suppose. Thanks, Wolf, you are still loved here in the D

A 21/2 hour trip was well worth it: Peter Wolf satiated my soul! He did a great blend of his solo work, beginning with "Growing Pain" right on thru a good representation of JGeils Band tunes. The Detroit crowd was restless for "Detroit Breakdown", but were on the whole, appreciative of his presence on the stage of St. Andrew's Hall. The man is 64 yrs old; he tells great stories, writes wonderful lyrics, & keeps movin' & groovin'. Thanks, Wolf!

Peter Wolf was always the consummate showman as the frontman for the J. Geils Band. That hasn't changed one bit! It was an awesome show -- great musicians backing Peter up and a great mix of Peter's solo works and some J. Geils classics. My expectations were really high and I was afraid I might be disappointed, but I need not have worried. Peter Wolf and his band delivered a memorable performance well worth my time and money. ...to see Peter Wolf live. This man rocks out. Not for a second do you think that he doesn't care. He doesn't know how to 'phone it in', not in his vocabulary. Much more than an 'aging rock star' trying to keep or regain his 15 minutes of fame, this guy is a highly accomplished and versatile performer. And for being 64 (in 2010), this guy jumps around a lot more than your dad does! He doesn't tour much, and mostly sticks east of the Mississippi, so if you get half a chance to see him, jump on it. As for Park West, it's not as bad as some on here indicate. Sure, drinks are going to be 6 bucks each for a weak margarita or an MGD, but be nice to your bartender, make sure you tip well on the first round, and you should be fine. Seating was packed in tight in the floor area, with chairs placed front to back touching each other (I guess the audience was supposed to have 2 dimensional legs??) but get rid of that extra seat and everyone's fine. Sound system was adequate, not muddy, one brief piece of feedback, a little lacking on the bass. Not weak, just not where I would have had it. Parking is a challenge, I never saw a public garage, but that doesn't mean there isn't one somewhere. Parked on Clark with 2hr paper slip at 7, after 9 it's not enforced, so good timing there. 3 stars for parking, 4 for Park West itself, 6 stars (out of 5) for Mr Wolf. I don't know what more he could have done but sat at our table.

Peter Wolf is one of the most talented, energetic, poetic, and moving performers you could hope to see. I saw him on Wednesday at the Bowery Ballroom. He worked the crowd, sang beautifully, and danced around the stage. His band was amazing! If you've never seen him live, and worse than that, never heard his albums (Not J Geils), you're in for a true treat! My dream concert would be Peter Wolf , Mick Jagger and a female voice of their choice. Saw him last year at the Bell House. Whenever Peter Wolf's in town, I'll be there.

With or without the J. Geils Band, Peter Wolf is a consummate performer. Great variety of musical styles, amusing stories, and great intros to many songs. I am a long time Geils fan and saw them in NJ in August. That was great but so was this. I went with 5 friends barely familiar with Geils and completely unfamiliar with Peter's solo efforts ( which, by the way, are excellent). They absolutely loved it. Almost two hours of just a non-stop great time.

This guy is the best and I've seen a lot. I think better than Jagger. Great singer, frontman, storyteller and Rocker! He just has it and know how to use it. If you've seen him, you know. If not, go see him and you will see. This guy still feels it, even at his age. Most other just do it. Younger people should see him and you will agree. Newer performers do not compare. About six of us waited outside after the show for over an hour. Peter came out and said he'd be right with us. He walked off, jumped into his Audi, and split without signing for anyone. Peter Wolf played for 2 hours and 15 minutes without a break. He played old favorites and songs from his new album. He is still wild and crazy and a great singer. as others at this show said, this was a "6" on a "5 star" scale for all the reasons they mention... Peter Wolf consistently knocks it out of the park in his solo shows, I've seen at least 5-6 and all have been at least excellent... this one was transcendent, as was one other I've seen. His band is fantastic (this one had the larger band supplementing the great Duke Levine & co. w/ Kenny White & another player) and Peter is a force of nature. GREAT band, GREAT show!

Great show. It was a date event, and my companion loved the variety in his set. Soul, country, rock, folk. He did it all with equal aplomb. My companion know the voice, but didn't know Peter until he dusted of some old J. Geil's stuff, 'Love Stinks' and 'I Must Have Got Lost'. Then it clicked for her and her eyes lit up. Peter put on an energetic show, sang from his knees for a lot of the show, can out into the audience for a few numbers, and really engaged the crowds with his lead in stories to the songs. He's a great showman, has preserved his voice, and was a pleasure to listen to that night. One more thing, Peter and the band did a standard encore, and then came out and for an extended second encore. That was a treat. Hope he makes it back soon.

He's the legend you probably mostly forgot about. J. Geils Band ruled the airwaves for a while (not always with Peter Wolf out front), and they can seem a bit fixed in that time. Set that aside. Peter Wolf is a riveting showman with great songs. He's part shaman, part raconteur, and not a trace of poseur. The guy has transcended that J. Geils place and time to where even those hits (he played a few) have a new context. No pipes to speak of, he's one of the best, most genuine singers you can hope to see. And his stories are amazing (happens to run into a teenaged Gram Parsons in a bar in Boston during Parsons' brief -- very brief -- college foray? and writes a song with him? really?). He's a character. A treasure. With a killer band.

Peter Wolf put on a really enjoyable show at The Birchmere in Alexandria on Friday night. The former lead singer for the J.Geils Band, which had a few hits in the late '70's and early '80's, has weathered the last few decades well both vocally and as a performer. No spring chicken, he can still move around onstage like a man twenty years younger than him, and his slightly nasal rock/blues vocalizing is mostly undiminished and suits his material well. His back-up band was excellent. Piano player and opening act Kenny White was terrific, and all the musicians were quite talented and seemed to be happy to be onstage. Those in attendance who expected to hear songs from the J. Geils Band catalog were probably disappointed in the show, since Wolf only played one tune from that era of his musical career. But the songs he did play made for a very engaging set.

There was a time when I thought that The J. Geils Band was one of the best bands in the world and this was during one of rock's golden ages. Still a dynamic front man with a number of excellent solos albums to his credit, Peter Wolf put on a great show Friday night. I only counted three cuts from his old band (Love Stinks, Lookin for a Lover and Musta Got Lost) as much as I called out for "First I Look @ The Purse" but it didn't matter. He led his excellent band featuring opener/co-producer Kenny White and guitarist Duke Levine (Mary Chapin Carpenter) thru a very satisfying set and told great stories between songs about Van Morrison, Gram Parker and Don Covey. If you have the chance do not miss him. Got a signed copy of his new CD too!

Peter Wolf gave a very energetic and professional show, featuring much of his excellent Midnight Souvenirs album as well as five or so treats from his J. Geils Band days (e.g., ("Must Of Got Lost"). His five piece band (plus Kenny White on piano) was top notch across the board, and begged the question of how he could command such a great band and charge only $29.50 @ in a club! Quite congenial and entertaining stage banter -- he has been around long enough to have some really good stories. I have only seen Peter Wolf one other time -- 30 years ago with J. Geils -- and was amazed that he hasn't "lost a step." I think he must have been having a pretty good time as his encore was 6 or 7 songs long!

I flew from California to see this guy throw down at Fenway Park with the original members of J. Geils Band. Their 'Final Concert'. Wow. Hit all the notes, did all his dances, a dash of DJ talk. About the only thing that age has done is limit a little of the pole vaulting with the mike stand. He had the crowd in the palm of his hand. Two Wows. Peter Wolf's repertoire of music is phenomenal. He moves from Blues to rock to jazz to bluegrass-throws in some country, some old time rock and roll and does it all seamlessly. His ability to communicate with his audience is consummately professional. He is multi-faceted, i.e. quick witted, often personal, reminiscent of what once was, yet funny and self-effacing- such a varigated combination. He is a delight to behold and watch perform.

Peter Wolf came out ready to attack the stage! This concert and tour are for fans of Peter's solo work. With only a few J. Geils numbers thrown in, this show rewards people who loved "Long Line," "Fools Parade," "Sleepless" and of course his newest, "Midnight Souvenirs." The band is dynamic and knows how to ramp up, vamp out and rock and roll when necessary. Peter's love for the music he's performing, and sincerity in execution are evident throughout the performance. We have few American gems with a 40 year catalogue still out performing, and fewer still that can sing, dance and perform as beautifully as Peter Wolf did in Chicago. Do not miss this concert.

Saw the same show in Somerville a year or 2 before. Would have given the venue 5 Stars but an usher planted a chair in front of me and put someone in it to obstruct my view. The show was great.

As He has consistently throughout the decades of being a Great frontman he delivered the goods. From Can't Do My Homework going back to the 70s with Geils fast forward to Solo ; I Don't Want to know from 2010 his singing and performance was engaging and energetic. He tributed Tom Petty whom he had opened many summer dates for on this last Petty Tour. If Peter Wolf comes within your travel distance and you love old school Classic R&B mixed with Rock n Roll... See him! You'll be glad you did.

This was definitely not a J. Geils rehash. It was Peter taking us on a journey of styles he enjoys. Country,Blues,R&B along with the J. Geils hits and some funny stories made for a very entertaining evening.

Amazing show. Peter has unbelievable energy and stage presence. His band was awesome. Played a good balance of his solo stuff and threw in some JGeils which was great. Always love shows at St. Andrews hall :-)

What an amazing night! I love Peter Wolf and the Midnight Travelers. I highly recommend seeing this band. Peter Wolf is a legend and an amazing performer. He and his band put 110 % into their shows. From start to finish they are the best. If you like Rock and Roll, Blue Grass and a little country sprinkled in you will enjoy it. I hope to see them at the end of the summer again!

This was one of the best performances I have seen. Peter Wolf at age 70 is as nimble and dynamic, and as good a dancer as Mick Jagger was in his youth. Excellent band too.

Peter Wolf may have lost a step or two but who would notice, he is still has the moves that make him one of the greatest front men in rock and roll. At the Port City Music Hall I saw the same guy I remember from the early days of the J. Geils Blues Band. It took Peter about four songs to get his voice warmed up, and once warmed upHe played some J. Geils tunes but he gave them new life by using blue grass & reggae treatments. I never cared for "Love Stinks" but the blue grass treatment was really nice. The highlights of the evening were the songs from his newest CD ""A Cure for Loneliness". Peter has made some excellent recordings in the last decade and deserve a listen. The J. Geils Blues Band came to Portland in the summer of 1969 to open for the Velvet Underground at Portland City Hall Auditorium. I doubt anyone in the audience had ever heard of them two years before their first record.. The crowd went crazy. The Velvet Underground came on and were a downer. The crowd starting chanting "J. Geils", who came back and set-up their equipment and did another show. By the time Magic Dick brought out his trumpet for "Knock On Wood", it was complete mayhem. This week that same singer returned to Portland and it was deja vu for me. God Bless Peter Wolf. The Midnight Travelers are awesome....Kevin & Duke rock.

Hadn't seen Wolf live since a Geils show back in the 80's , have to say we were very impressed. He is a master showman, with an awesome band of solid pros backing him- a special shout out to the great Duke Levine. A wide variety of tunes, with some Geils chestnuts thrown in of course, overall a well paced show that kept the crowd engaged. On the rockers he prowled, danced, strutted, & commanded the stage just as powerfully as he did back in the day. We consulted our smartphones out of curiosity ,& were shocked to see he's 70 year old! Amazing,he can put many performers half his age to shame. We want some of what he's taking!

The one artist that's consistent and never lets you down! He was right on with his moves, singing and the boys in the band were fabulous. Would highly recommend someone if there is anyone out there to catch him!

I first saw Geils in 73. Saw them many times thru the 80. But this may have been the best solo Peter I've seen. . .

Change is good. Usually. I've seen Wolf solo a dozen times, this show was kinda short and pretty obscure.

Peter Wolf and the Midnight Traveler's Monday night set was a peak experience - on a par with, but moving beyond, a J. Geils Band 10th Anniversary performance I witnessed in the '70s in San Francisco. Since I was a child I collected J. Geils Band albums - finding in each one a kernal of truth and beauty and soul. But no album, end-to-end, and no J. Geils Band performance, end-to-end, matched the range, spirit and vibe of this performance. It was the first time I'd seen Peter Wolf and the Midnight Travelers so I'm coming late to a party that many have known about. Others will describe the set list (comprehensive, tasteful, fantastic), the arrangements (tight, witty, fresh), the musical performances (impeccable), the sound and lights (volume perfect, mix nearly always on target), and Wolf's charisma (it's not an act, it's as authentic, energetic and inspiring as ever). Maybe I'm just older, and tired of nostalgia and searching for a little sincerity and honesty, but I feel like this Monday night show unleashed the soul constrained by commercial recording and touring constraints and was a virtual cascade of art, memory, dance, rhythm, poetry, humor and self awareness. The artists were transparent, generous in their gift of talent and gracious in their appreciation of the Birchmere community. There is a rare reciprocity between artist and audience at the Birchmere, and this environment was the perfect catalyst for Peter Wolf and the incredible team players in the Midnight Travelers. They made art in this special lab, and created new memories - this audio vintage is superb.

Incredible performance last Sunday at Indian Ranch with Peter Wolf and his terrific band, the Midnight Travelers. Peter's voice is still strong and clear as it was early on. He sang a combination of his great solo tunes, as well as some rocking J. Geils songs. We danced and sang along all afternoon! Another fabulous performance by this talented man and his equally fabulous band of troubadours.
