This show was just about everything I could ask for plus more. Lee Ritenour as always was great. Having Dave Grusin appear with him was an unexpected bonus. It's hard not to just give these guys praise. Although I did enjoy them and they were spectacular, they were a bit on the loud side. This is very nice, very classy jazz, they did not need to blow the roof off volume wise. Spyro Gyra were also exceptional even with all the microphone issues, something that it appeared they tried to take care of unsuccessfully before the show began. Their frustration with the issues on stage were evident. However, they played through it and more than met my exceptions. I've followed Spyro Gyra since their days in Buffalo and they never disappoint. Both Spyro Gyra And Lee Ritenour had nice song selections with a nice mix of favorites and newer material.

What an amazing show! Seeing Lee Ritenour and Spyro Gyra was a treat but what a surprise to find Dave Grusin on stage with Lee Ritenour for his whole set. Talk about legends on stage! These guys play with an energy and passion that is very palpable. Not only did Lee bring along Dave Grusin but the other members in the band were equally famous. Drummer was from Yellow Jackets and bass player was Abraham Laboriel. Just wow! Such fantastic performers! Spyro Gyra did not disappoint either! So glad I didn't miss this show. If you have the chance go see them. You will be happy you did.

So many great acts and for just $10. This was an amazing show full of great local acts also. Well worth the trip from Cleveland. Even the vendors had great food.

Seeing Spryo Gyra in this inimate arena was absolutly awesome. They guys played for about 1 1/2 hours and time just flew by. They introduced the person who signed them to their first record deal 33 years ago, Lenny Silver. I have seen them many times over the years and they get better each time. The drummer Bonny B I had not seen before. He was very good and super entertaining.

SpyroGrya was one of the first Jazz Fusion bands to hit the big time, and they are still amazingly writing, selling and performing great music! Love the Bears Den at the Seneca Niagara Casino, much better then their Performance Center! Stadium seating with nearly theater-in-the-round audience veiwing. Comfy seats and better acoustics.

This has to be the best of all the Spyro Gyra concerts I've ever attended. It was like attending a jam session. The band members were having as much fun playing as I did listening.

Really enjoyed SPYRO GYRA, the opening act. The volume of the music was comfortable. However, when JONATHAN BUTLER, the main act took to the stage, the volume of the music was way too loud. Wish I had earplugs.

Spyro Grya and Jonathan Butler were terrific. Butler's voice is awesome. A must see for any jazz enthusiast. However, the seats at the venue could have been a bit more comfortable.

It was an awesome night yesterday witnessing such great talent as Spyro Gyra and the awesome legend Jonathan Butler in performance. I never heard of Spyro Gyra; and in all honesty I was a lost soul trying to find my way back home and came just to hear Jonathan Butler minister; but the talent that exist within Spyro and his team is undeniable. The sound of jazz, the freedom of spirit and love permeated the atmosphere last night through them and it was such an honor for me to be in that setting. The highlight of the night for me however was when the great Jonathan Butler sang "Faliing in love with Jesus." I honestly came just to hear that song and I believe God allowed him to sing it just for me. In summation, the entire night was great. True music in its essence is beautiful and filled with God and love-and that was definately felt and heard last night.

Jay Beckenstein appeared old and rotund. I have been a fan for 25 years and have seen Spyro Gyra in concert at least 10 times. Unfortunately, the music composed by Jay and Dave Samuels years ago was much better then the songs he was pushing from his new album last night. I was very disappointed in how few of the considerable number of great hits of the past he played last night. Jonathan Butler was a very pleasant surprise. What an effortless voice he has and the combination of guitar and voice made it seem like there were 7 or 8 musicians on the stage last night. I did not realize how much of a born again he was and how much of his music was faith based.

I thought by the way the show was being billed and with all the advertisements I saw that Spyro would be headlining the show. When they took the stage first I was like, OK, so maybe it will just be them or Jonathon was just going to join in with them. That's not what happened either, they took the stage, and 1 hour and 15 minutes later they left the stage, there performance was remarkable, but there were so many great songs of there's that never got played. Jonathon Butler was great, he also played for a little over an hour, then when their set was done, off the stage they went, no oncore, nothing. All and all the Show was great, the music sounded awesome, specially at the Nokia, just would have liked them to play a little longer for the price of the tickets....

I was more interested in hearing Jonathan Butler, who was phenomenal!!! However, Spyro Gyra who was good, played beyond their allotted time by 15-20 mins, which pushed backed Butler's performance by over 30mins...I had to travel a long distance, so I had to leave early, therefore missing a lot of Butler's performance...that was very disappointing.!

I took my daughter tp see a great show as I wanted her to hear how real instruments are supposed to be played and sound. She plays the flute and sax, and has now got a violin and she spoke to them about it. It was great, and a nice mixed audience, all ages and races.

iT was a shame because I know the promoter of this fablous event lost a lot of money. It was a little chill but the heat was on with the wonderful performance by all the bands! And, to have to pay only $35.00 to see and hear these great musicans was unreal! I would suggest a little earlier in the latter part of September but if not held until October, I will be there next year! It was GREAT!

I couldn't believe the type of entertainment that was provided for the price in the Baltimore area. There were several artist that I had never seen or heard of, Drew Davidsen, Jazz Boyz and Eric Marner, but you can best believe that I will be looking forward to seeing/supporting them in the future. I will be adding this festival to the list of festivals that I attend every year. I just hope that they continue to hold the show in October or late September so it doesn't conflict with the other jazz festivals I attend during the year. The Shortcake Entertainment group did a fantastic job putting the show together. I look forward to supporting them in their future endeavors.

The concert was at the Atlantic City Hilton and the acoustics were awesome! The sound engineers were right on! And the room wasn't too large but yet not too small! Another great venue at Atlantic City! OK, enough props for A.C. Spyro Gyra was great once again! They always put on a great show! Each of the guys had their solo moments and they were ALL good! Awesome show, great seats, great view of the ocean and marina, plus Jay Beckenstein and Tom Schuman phenomenal on the sax and keyboards. Julio Lopez on guitar such a sultry and smooth style in his playing. The two new young guns on bass and drums just electric in their playing. This was my 3rd time seeing Spyro Gyra, once each in the past 3 decades. They never fail to disappoint. I was wondering how they would sound after just coming back from a European tour and they were flawless as usual. I saw these guys back in the early 80s when they had all the original members and after 30+ years I was simply blown away. Jay Beckinstein was so passionate and still the driving force behind this incredible group of gifted musician. I didn't recognize Julio Fernandez at first but his performance was tremendous. As always, Tom Shuman never disappoints and Scott Ambush put on a clinic for anyone who wants to be a jazz bass player. I forgot the name of the drummer but he played about a 6 minute solo that had everyone standing. I hope these guys come back to the area again. Just a tremendous performance!!

This is my wife & I's third trip to The Mablehouse Barnes Ampitheatre this summer. Even though we had an electric (lightning) & hairy entrance into town on Friday, the show on Saturday was more electric in it's on way and over the top! I've been a Spyro Gyra fan since the late 70's and I know all the originals aren't there but come on, man! The replacements (guitar, drums & bass) were kickin' it up there. Very impressed with their showmanship, sound and their rendition of many of their favorites. It all sounded so nostalgic, but fresh. Paul Taylor did a great job, but Spyro Gyra made his show sound like what it was...the opening act! The DJ, as usual, was on point....loved all of his choices. Wonderful gig. We hope it continues, because we'll be there.

The concert was absolutely fantastic. First act, Paul Taylor did a fantastic job. His music and presentation were exceptional. He engaged the crowd and even went into the crowd. The band was great and the people were so enthusiastic that two event goers joined him onstage to dance. Just when I thought this act would be hard to follow, Spyro Gyra hit the stage and proceeded to keep the great jazz going. The musicians in this group are simply amazing. I have been a Spyro Gyra fan since they began. This Morning Dance concert was something I had been wanting for a long time. They delivered their traditional songs, in a traditional way, yet their 40 years of experience and evolution made these songs even better. After the Morning Dance set, they continued to perform at their best, including a couple more oldies and a few from their new album. Every band member is excellent, including the two original members, Jay and Tom. They are both as close to musical genius as one can get. I can't tell people enough how great they are, and how lucky we are as society to have such a top quality band.

The show was short, entertaining at times. The bands youngest and newest members were each allowed extended solo's, which led to an overall "Spyro Gyra performance of less than an hour on stage. The band did give us "Morning Dance" as it's encore, which was the definitive highpoint of the show. Would strongly recommend show to hardcore fans of the band.

The music this time was different in that each performer played a long set of their own composition and some tributes, so not much of the music was familiar. The drummer, OMG, best damn jazz drummer on tour, bar none. Their newly released album will be much different than the past favorites as it seems there was not as much direction in the production and more of a jam session. After all, the guys have been together for many years and they know each other's music and likes. I'll be back.

In a word ... outstanding. Most memorable, the drum solo... awesome skills! Beckenstein playing two saxophones at once ... incredible... and not gimmicky at all.

Ranking the perfromers from best to worse, Euge Groove stole the show. He and his band were tremendous. Wonderful entertainment. If it was only Euge for the evening , his group's performance would have made the show. Charleton Singleton and his group did an excellent job. He should cut a CD. Chilts teaming with Charleton and his band was the second best performance of the evening. Charleton and his band were superb with a very close third. The performance by Spyro Gyra was very disappointing. The group should have focused on their top songs. I did not enjoy 10 minute individual band member solo performances parsed through out the time the band was on stage. Their Mingus tune was completely out of sequence and a drastic mood downer for the audience. We went there to hear good, uplfiting smooth jaxzz. Spyro Gyra did not deliver.

The local jazz band was very professional. They had a groove that blended right into the spirit of the 2nd Annual Low Counyrt Jazz Festival. Shiltz was phenominal, we all felt short-changed that he could not have presented more of his artistry. Spiro Gyra should have opened the evening. Their consistency and musical abilities showed why the have lasted all of these years. Their professionalism and selection of music rocked the Coliseum to it's very foundation. Eugene (Euge) Groove should have closed out the evening. His musical skills, his timing, his personality, his crowd interplay and his showmanship dazzled us all. Aagain, he should have ended the concert.I thought that the first Annal Low Country Jazz Festival was incredible, but this one stands on it's own. If any of my thoughts are considered valuable, please consider this: TURN OFF THE AIR CONDITOINING AFTER THE FIRST ACT. My wife and other womenaround us were freezing halfway through the Euge Groove's set. All in all, the venue is geautiful, there are no bad seats in the house and the accoustics were phenomenal. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!

This is my first time attending the Low Country Jazz Festival and I am so looking forward to next year's event. I had no problem driving from Greenville to Charleston to attend this event and am so happy I did. If I had not received an email regarding this event, I would have missed out on a wonderful treat. Euge Groove is one of my favorite Jazz artists and it was so good to be able to see and hear him in person. All artists (Shilts from England I believe and Charleston's own Charlton Singleton) were good and really gave us our money's worth and then some. I'm just partial towards Euge Groove. It was good to see Spyro Gyra...they've been around for a long time and still going strong. What a wonderful way to spend my Saturday evening/night. Definitely a Festival that is well worth your time and money.

I've seen Spryo Gyra before and had touted what an awesome jazz band they were to my fiance - but he & I both agree.....Euge Groove stole the show. His performance was lively, sexy & groove-a-licious!!! Don't get me wrong...Spyro Gyra was good - but it was almost like they tried too hard. I love a good jam session - but ALL of their songs, except their finale "Morning Dance" went on a little too long. I wondered if others felt the same way, because over a quarter of the audience began leaving the auditorium after their fifth or six song. Simply put....Euge Groove was a hard act to follow and HE should've been the headliner.

the concert by Stilts, Euge Groove and Spyro Gyra was excellent. The event started on time and the venue worked well - parking, restrrooms, breaks, etc. each performance was superb. Stilts, who was the least known, was a pleasant surprise, while Syro Gyra met expectations,. Euge Groove's music and interaction with the audience was the best of the three.
