I used to live in China and now moved to Gainesville for school. I have been always loving death metal music very much since I first got to know it in China. I attended a Dying Fetus performance in Beijing and a Suffocation performance in NYC, but I would say last Sunday's Deicide has the best atmosphere among all! I think the reason is Tampa is close to St Petersburg and it has a solid foundation of death metal lovers there. Decide is really a perfect band with perfect techniques and the ability to control the whole place and the people there. Expecting more Tampa bands' performances!

As upset as I was to hear Glen had hurt himself and couldn't sing...I still have to say the show was amazing! I've waited since 2004(when I was "too young" to go to shows according to my father) to see them, so any experience was good enough for me. The crowd was amazing, I felt like I was part of a family by the end! Jack Owen was outside and nice enough to take a picture with me. I hope they come around again soon!

Bummed Glen Benton was hurting and couldn't sing, but Kevin Quirion still did pretty awesome considering the shoes he's trying to fill. Definitely worth seeing, even the openers were relatively good.

Got there when Abigail Williams was wrapping up their set so it wouldn't be fair to judge them. though from what I heard they sounded pretty good. Jungle Rot played a pretty good set mixing up their old and new stuff. Deicide...very disappointing though it wasn't totally their fault. Glen shows up with a torn diaphragm muscle and was unable to sign...sooooo what good is Deicide without the vocals you ask? Eh not very good at all. I do give props to Glen for at least trying to push on through the show but I think a reschedule would have been a lot more fair to the audience. I mean what good is "Sacrificial Suicide" without "I MUST DIE...SATAAANNNN!"

Glenn Benton came out and explained he injured his voice the night before, but instead of canceling the show they played without lead vocals. The crowd sang back to the band and the lead guitarist would sing his back-up parts to keep us going. Opening acts were good too, with Jungle Rot getting the crowd prepped for Deicide! I will see Deicide every time they come close to local!

I love the Gramercy Theater, and was very happy to get my tickets months in advance for this show. However, upon hearing (about 2 min before Deicide were to go on stage) that Gen Burton was sick and unable to sing, I was upset. They then proceeded to play with no singer, not even having the guitarist fill (he was able to sing a chorus or two). We were subjected to listening to these songs with no lyrics for a whole set. This is unacceptable, the show should have been cancelled and the tickets refunded.

This concert was, without a doubt, one of the top five best concerts I've ever been to in my life. The line up was brutal, the crowd size perfect and the people friendly, and the venue was perfect for a metal show. And must mention, even the Bluebird staff was very friendly. All of the bands were extremely interactive, and I even got to talk to multiple musicians between seets. I've wanted to see Deicide for a long time now, and they were everything I expected and more. What a great experience!!!

A guy threw a bottlecap at Deicide and Glen Benton punched him in the face. Unforgettable! Honorable mention for Blackguard.

Neuraxis was the opening group. I've never seen this group before and they are an excellent technical Death Metal band from Canada. The second opening group was Blackguard. I did not think much of this group and felt it was out of place on this tour. Deicide was next and they were excellent. They played 18 songs for this show, including several new songs from their new album To Hell With God, along with many classics. Deicide's line up consisted of Steve Asheim on drums, Glen Benton on bass and vocals, Jack Owen guitars, and the returning Ralph Santolla on guitars. It was a dechristianizing experience that you will only get with a Classic Old School Death Metal band like Deicide. Get out there and don't miss this tour.

Deicide themselves are as strong as always. Glen Benton is the consumate professional musician, keeping the show moving forward and never missing a moment. Guitarist Jack Owen looked like he was having the most fun everytime he ripped a solo. Steve Asheim, as always, makes that incredible drumming seems easy, and his beats were as tight as possible. Kevin Quirion stayed on top of his leads, but there was a moment during song "Scars of the Crucifix" where he had that "new guy" look of wonderment and enjoyment at playing for the legendary Deicide. Unfortunately, the turnout was far smaller than I would have thought should be the norm, but Dallas metal fans tend toward the trendiest bands in the scene. The turnout made it seem like the band was really fighting to keep the energy and momentum going toward the second half, and this may have contributed to the lack of encore. The other likely factor in the no-encore was that Jungle Rot went on for about four songs too long, and their stuff got repetitive at the end.

It was 1990 or 91 when I last saw Deicide, & I was as completely blown away last night maybe even more than then. Come to think about it, that was a pretty legendary show back then (Infestation, Vader, Dismember, & Deicide). But the pairing of Vital Remains & Deicide is an idea that the thinker won't have to hide for. Awesome
