JAMES GETS ‘LAID’ IN AUSTRALIA FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME“This bed is on fire with passionate love, The neighbours complain about the noises above, But she only comes when she’s on top….”These memorable lines from James’ 1993 hit ‘Laid’ defined a decade becoming the soundtrack to early 90s alternative radio and then finding a second life through its use in teen hit American Pie. Now the band are heading to Australia for the very first time in their career to celebrate the release of their fourteenth album ‘Girl at the End of the World’, presented by MJR.JAMES had already had a decade of hits by the time Laid arrived, having risen from Manchester’s legendary Factory Records scene into one of the biggest UK bands in the world by the dawn of the 90s.

Magic happens when James plays. Just go to the next show whether you are familiar with James or not. You won't be disappointed.

Quite brilliant, they really engaged the crowd. I saw James couple of year ago and they had only recently reformed and while they were good they seemed reluctant to play the old stuff. Last night they just went for it, mixing in some of their new stuff, but focused on their greatest hits. The new tracks sounded pretty good, I need to check out the album. Tim Booth was down in the audience and then leaning over the edge of the balcony for an acoustic version of Sit Down during the encore; a real crown pleaser. It felt like they were more comfortable with their future being a mixture of nostalgia and new material. If you ever liked any James track, catch them now, they are on fire. And Tim still does the mad dad dancing!

The show was amazing. Webster Hall was full of loyal James' fans who not only new the lyrics but the name of the albums and obscure singles. A great show, starting with a acoustic "Sit Down" from the balcony above the entrance that drove everybody crazy to a touching ending with Tim Booth dancing to a crowd chanting "Sometimes when I look in your eyes I see your soul". Is the second time I see them live and I can hardly wait till the next concert. They played old tunes like "Out to get you", "Laid" and not too old "Getting away with it (All messed up)". A show impossible to forget. Those boys do know how to make people cry, scream, smile, jump and dance....all at the same time.

James returned to Atlanta for a great show, over 10 years since their last visit. They didn't disappoint. Throughout an amazing show, they played old favorites and a selection of highlights from their latest album. A few minor technical glitches that the band handled well, joked about, and didn't let interfere with the night. The crowd was glad to have them back, and was singing and cheering the whole time.

The show was great, in a small venue. There were some technical difficulties at first, but the show got moving after they sorted it out. James was great, a lot of memories flooded back from the 90's.

They still have it! Great performers and musicians!! I'm probably opposite of most but I kind of wish they would branch out with their song selection. I really enjoyed the few new songs they played and would have like to hear more of those..also would have like to hear more random older tunes as well (the classics are great but I've hear them a million times on the live dvd & cd). However, I can't complain because everything they do is pure magic.

To say that this was an amazing concert does not do it justice. Tim Booth (the lead singer) and the rest of James were truly an experience that was a highlight of my year! The band were present and focused on the audience--you could feel the energy of the concert right through to the encore. They played a great mix of old and new and were energized through the almost two-hour show. The venue was terrific--best acoustics at any venue in memory--and every seat was a good seat! I've been a fan for years and I saw and spoke with people who didn't know much about James and they thought it was the best show they've been to. If you weren't a James fan before the show...you were afterward. I will see them every time they tour!!! Thanks Trocadero for hosting this event and making it exceedingly exceptional.

Absolutely amazing show. Opened with the lead singer walking through the crowd slowly, there wasn't a whole lot of preamble between songs, and they played a really good mix of both old and new material. No "let me hear you scream!" shenanigans, although plenty of appropriate crowd-participation during the actual songs. Most importantly though was the atmosphere. It really seemed like the entire band loved being there that night and performing, and the vibe in the crowd was even stronger.

I went in thinking there was no way they could be as good now as they were on the 2001 dvd getting away with it live... They were better. This may be the best rock show I have ever seen. The magnificent 7 guys that make up James are quite simply some of the best musicians in the world. And their songs are so creative, spanning the entire range of human emotions. They gave it their all in Atlanta and went non stop for nearly 2 and a half hours. It was such a treat to see such a mega band in such a small space. The fans knew all the words and the band was nice enough to let us jam with them. All in all a top night.

(what I posted on the James's website forum, entitled Atlanta setlist) I second all comments relating to the Atlanta show. Each member of the band is a true professional and they look like they have a real good time playing together-lots of smiles. Bought their new album last week (have them all), and I believe it's their best work yet. They opened with Dust Motes, one of my favorite off the new CD; the song and Booth's range were flawlessly performed. Two songs I'd love to see done live are Dr Hellier and Heroes. If I had a choice of going to a U2., Coldplay, or James concert, I would choose the latter-with the VIP pass. How are they so unknown in America?

I waited a long time to get to see James for the first time. Tim Booth and the gang played their hearts out. I thought the fiddle would catch fire during the incredible solo it was being played with such intensity. It is amazing that Tim can scream in one song then his voice is magically back to perfect condition for a following mellow song. The drum and guitar musicianship is incredible. Kind of a small crowd that showed up but that made it more enjoyable for us die-hard James fans. It was more intimate and there was room to walk around. Awesome show.

I was so glad to finally see James live and they delivered a great performance. A good mix of new and old material although I would have liked some of their early songs from their first US album(but since those never hit in the US I understood their exclusion). Tim's energetic dancing and vocal abilities were a highlight. The band showed that their talent remains.

James' show two nights ago was cool, but not unforgettable. My wife and I saw them last year the two dates planned for the tour in Boston's Paradise and it was unbelievable!!..... the energy, the crowd, the band was at its 200%...... the set list was superb. On monday night, I could feel Tim a little bit sad with the sound, the levels were quite weird so the drummer had to play most of the show with different sticks.... not regular drumsticks but a lighter version. In that sense, the show was a little bit not good, but you know, James is James....... Marvelous band!!!

I've always been a casual fan of James and I knew it was going to be a good show, but I had no idea what was in store for me. From the very beginning the band was solid and Tim's vocals were right on point. The dynamics of the music were executed with grace and skill and the band's oftentimes earnest lyrics rang true and didn't come off as neither contrived nor forced. The most impressive thing for me was how well they connected with people who had not really listened to them before. I took a few friends with me and they were so glad I did; they "got it" and that says a lot about the clarity of the songwriting and the skill of the players. Finally, the show left me with a feeling of elation that I'm still carrying with me two days later. I highly recommend you catch this tour; you never know when they will be back, if ever.

James are one of the best live acts, and have been since their early days. There is not one negative thing to say about them. Since their reunion Tim Booths song writing has probably gotten even better, if not a little more maudlin at times. Even if you don't know the band you should attend their shows. You will not be disapointed.

Every single song that i wanted them to play, they played and more. Even though they have so many great songs there were 5 in particular i wanted to hear. Two i didnt even think they would possible play since the songs are more obscure and minor, but they PLAYED THEM!!!!! I been to over 50 concerts in my life and this ranks up there on the top 5. Though the event was smaller than, say, a Depeche mode concert, james and tim booth lit up the hall. Tim Booth worked so well with the crowd that i would say he is hands down the best concert entertainer ive seen next to david gahan. Outstanding!!!

The show was amazing... lots of interaction with the audience, Tim even ventured into the balcony with the guitarist for an acoustic version of one of their classics. These guys remain one of my favorite bands of all time. I'd have given 5 stars but had a couple "needs improvement": 1) the sound isn't great at the Regency when volume is amped too loud (it was). I had to stuff cocktail napkin into my ear as it was painful... James' music doesn't require this kind of aural assault. 2) the band decided to ease into this show playing 4 slow songs before any uptempo ones. It would have been nice to get into the uptempo songs earlier to get the audience engaged and moving.

James puts on an incredible show, and it breaks my heart that more people in America don't know about this band. (Or only know them because of "Laid.") The sound quality and musicianship were excellent and I appreciated that they played a diverse setlist, full of obscure songs as well as more familiar ones. I left the show wishing I could go see them again the very next night. I love their live show so much that despite a shortage of funds and vacation time, I made the sacrifice to drive 200 miles for this gig the day of, and drove back home immediately after, because I had to go to work the next day. The lack of sleep was worth it!

Overall this was a great show. James played a long set, and covered a lot from their expansive catalog. I was pleased with how much they engaged with the audience, and how much the audience appreciated them. This would have been 5 stars except for this venue. The Regency's acoustics are terrible. In fact, one of the worst places Ive been to in SF. The acoustics here are about as good as an airplane hanger. This was my third time there, and it hasn't gotten better.

It's been years since I've seen them, but james rocked as hard as ever at the Showbox. They bring such amazing energy with them to the stage. They played both old songs and new, and lead singer Tim Booth had the intensity that I remember. I am SO glad I didn't miss this show. The band was absolutely amazing and played so many of my favourite songs as well as a few of the songs on their new album. The concert stayed with Tim Booth coming in through the audience singing, hopping up on a ledge and then slowly strolling through the crowd to the stage. I think my favourite part of the show was during the encore when the audience was singing back to the band. I think the band really saw how much their fans loved them and how much we enjoyed the show. Hope they come back through here soon as this concert was one of the best I've ever seen.

classy band start to finish. If you like to dance(impossible not to with this lineup) be sure to check an extra piece of clothing at the coat check. After waiting nearly 20 years to see them, I finally had my chance last weekend at a small intimate venue, and it was nothing short of amazing. The show began with Tim's solitary voice on Sit Down, coming out of nowhere...we were all looking around for the source, only to find him standing at the back of the club on a partition wall, belting it out. Then he slowly made his way parade-style thru the crowd up to the stage, passing within arms reach of me. The 2nd song had so much energy that it felt more like a finale...at which point I said to myself that this was already the best concert I'd ever been to. Then he spoke to the crowd. He confided that two hours prior, he was told that his mother had passed away, so he asked for our understanding if he was all over the place emotionally that night. He then performed the song that he and his mother had written together about the death of his father. Powerful stuff. When others would have cancelled the show, he instead was fueled by everything that happened, and went on to give one of the most emotionally charged shows I've ever seen. True, the set list was a bit different than one might normallyexpect, but you could also tell that each song was hand-picked for a reason. But all the old favorites were still there, with a couple new ones sprinkled in. I left that club with a lump in my throat that has yet to fully go away. If my concert-going career ended that night, I'd still be content....because I can't imagine topping that one. Thank you James.

Used to seeing them in UK arenas, so it was awesome to see them in such an intimate venue. Despite some bad news for the lead singer, the show went on with an incredible amount of energy and musical ability. this show opened about as awesome as a show could be opened with tim booth and others in the crowd singing and getting the crowd pumped up and singing along... it was really a great moment. i could've done with more of the newer material... a couple of the songs from the laid period were kind of fast and felt off-balance, but the new material was spot on and really exciting. the band was tight and tim booth moves amazingly well for a 50 year old guy... it was absolutely inspiring and i wish i could see them again sooner than they will probably be back through the nw.

I had heard a few tracks from their new album, and liked them well enough, but I went to the show expecting to hear some old songs I remember and to say "good on yah" for keeping nostalgia alive. I could not have been more blown away. They were definitely on top of their game that night. The old songs, the new songs - they were done with an energy and intensity that is only discussed with any competency, to the people who were there. Ed Harcourt was the opener, and I was pleasantly surprised. I must admit, I had never heard any of his music, but I wouldn't mind seeing him again in a similar venue. The day after the show, I went out and bought both James' new release, and Ed Harcourt's.

A very special long overdue reunion of the original line up. Hard to believe they said good bye to us 2001. Missing their show so many times I felt blessed to see them finally after almost giving up hope. For a band that was not supposed to be back together they preformed as if they never stopped. What can I say? James are one of the most brilliant live bands I have ever seen. I have been a fan since 1991/1992 and have seen them on every major U.S. tour since. The band is like a fine wine, they just get better with age. The Music Box at the Fonda show was off the hook! Great setlist, energy, and crowd participation. One for the books.

One of the most amazing performances of any band. There was so much passion in every jam with the back up of a 7 piece using rare instruments. James knew how to please an audience.

James are absolutely mesmerizing, beautiful, inspiring, sarcastic and hypnotic. They will grab a hold of you and completely entrance you in their performance, that you are blown away by everything that they do. If you thought their music sound great on their CDs, well, they raise up the level 10-fold in their live performances. They're just brilliant.

A perfect set list mixing old and new songs, lots of creativity, and loads of energy made this the best James show yet and one of the best nights of music I've seen this year. The venue was perfect for them, too; intimate enough to interact with the audience but spacious enough for their big, infectious sound.

James - i could listen and watch this band every minute of every hour of every day. So much energy and sound coming from the stage. Tim Booth can write and sing lyrics like no other. Their music is intoxicating.

The fact that this band has not enjoyed commercial success on this side of the pond is a travesty. Great band, even better energy live.

One of the best shows I've been to in a looong time. Clearly a band who have played together for so long that they know how to take cues from one another and from the audience. The set list was exciting, varied; even though I've known their music for many years, each song had a new and wonderful twist. Brilliant!
