Primal Scream

Primal Scream first emerged onto the music scene in the mid ‘80s and, since then, the band has continued to defy convention by reinventing its sound with each new release. They've moved from psychedelic pop to punk to techno-rock to acid house to Stonesy blues-rock (to name a few)—and their legion of dedicated fans have followed them faithfully every step of the way. Led by Bobby Gillespie (formerly of Jesus and Mary Chain), Primal Scream are currently touring Europe with a US tour to follow. Bass player Gary "Mani" Mounfield recently spoke with Ticketmaster about his musical roots (he was the bass player for the much acclaimed Manchester band The Stone Roses), the new album Riot City Blues, and the current tour.

primal scream just came out and killed it. very high energy show and totally fun. the band just whipped the place into a frenzy and i am so glad i was able to see them again. a highly overlooked band that everyone should check out. cool small venue and was able to get very close to the stage. would have loved to see medication and miss lucifer in the set but the show rocked

I'm giving this 5 stars for location, price, and the experience. I didn't realize that Primal Scream would be performing well over 2 hours after the doors open but I stood there in front of the stage for that time until they performed. I couldn't hear Bobby too well but being able to see that up close and personal was enough. Made eye contact with the drummer and saluted him and he smiled and nodded back. Not all of the songs came out the same as youtube videos of their live performances or studio recordings. Maybe it was because of where I was standing (I definitely couldn't see or hear much of the familiar licks from the keyboard player) but I wouldn't move for anything in the world. I'm glad that we could take pictures. The music was loud but not so loud that I needed ear plugs like in a Yngwie Malmsteen concert where you literally can't hear a damn thing afterward. It was crowded but friendly. Everyone should their support and we got ourselves one heck of an encore.
