What a show! Timeless.....the Musical Score fantastic.......the Dancing fluid and fitting.....the Fiddler integrated beautifully yet mysteriously throughout the play......Tevye's talks with G-d were always wise and humorous at the same time......while the play takes us through serious issues of the time period. Of course the live Orchestra only adds to the greatness of this production. Well worth spending your evening or afternoon!

This was my very first Musical to see on stage. Simply entertaining, educational and emotional. Since then, I have seen many different types of musicals, some good some not as good. However, I have yet to be disapointed when attending to Fiddler. As a matter of fact, it just keeps on getting better each time I see it. Deffinitely one for the entire family.

I saw the original back in the 80's and this show paid a fine tribute to that. I thought that the cast all did a great job especially all of the dancing, wow. Well worth the money..

The show was great. I was unsure if Topol would still have a top notch performance in him at 74, he sure did! The cast was perfect, most enjoyable show. The pit band was spot on! Only issue was the temperature in the Boston Opera House. The heat was unbearable, some attendees even left at the intermission as it was so uncomfortable.

TOPOL's farewell tour in Fiddler on the Roof was exceptional! Well worth the price of admission. It's hard to believe that this talented actor has been playing the iconic role of Tevye for four decades. To see him back and forth across the stage, belting out those familiar songs, and delivering so many memorable lines, I found it hard to believe that he is 74! So glad I had the opportunity to see the show during its limited engagement in Boston!

A great cast headed by the Fiddler Master himself, Topol. If your artistic sensibilities react more powerfully to simple sets, costumes and well crafted acting, then this is the production for you. It was entertaining from start to finish. If I had one criticism it would be the time allotted for taking care of personal business during intermission. The opera house has far too few bathrooms for that short of an intermission.

The best money I have spent in a long time. The first act was 2 hours and I don't think anyone moved the whole time. The second act was 1 hour and felt like 15 minutes. I'm going to go out and buy the movie. Topol was incredible, along with a talented cast. I have already recommended this play to my friends. INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course we love the movie, how could you not? So seeing the live performance was a real treat, but the best part was experiencing Topol's reinactment of the character he has come to be equated with. After all the times he has played the role, his performance last night never seemed tired or phoned in. We were completely swept away. The actress who played his wife couldn't have been more perfect, and the supporting cast was phenomenal. The script is well-written, and the musical numbers are classic, with some rousing others heartwarming, and still others extremely moving. We would recommend this show to anyone!

Both my wife and I enjoyed this show immensely. We have seen Fiddler on the Roof before but with Theo Bikel but enjoyed it much more this time with Topol as Tevye. All the music and songs and all of the actors and actresses were extremely enjoyable in there rolls. We would recommend this to anyone to go and see.

Words can't fully describe the experience of seeing Topol on stage in 2009. This is like being able to see Judy Garland play Dorothy, or Gene Kelly in Singing in the Rain. For those of you who haven't seen the film (see it), Topol's performance in 1971 married one of the greatest performers of all time with one of the greatest roles ever written for a musical. Nearly 40 years later, to see and hear this warm, vibrant human being fill the theater with laughter and tears for 3 hours was an experience I will never forget. His song renditions were even more captivating, his dancing still natural and light, and his passion and joy perhaps even more moving than in the film, which is nothing short of amazing. An incredible experience, and I would urge anyone to see it while they can.

The fiddler story is timeless. You don't have to be Jewish to understand the loss of traddition. Topol and the cast bring the story to life. Even just with his hand movements you know exactically what he is thinking.

Almost 40 years ago my parents took me to see the original on Broadway. I was stunned and mesmerized from the moment the curtain lifted to reveal a little man sitting on a roof and what I found out later was referred to as outstanding choreography. This holds true even today. While I've seen other productions with Paul Lipson, Theodore Bikel, & Topol, Noone brought the comedic sense of timing that Harvey Fierstein adds to this performance. Getting past my image of Harvey dressed as Edna in Hairspray took a bit of work, but by the end of the first number I'd achieved that sense of suspended disbelief and even think he would really make a good father to five daughters. Of course no production is without its' kinks. The fiddler's make believe violin playing was out of sync. We heard the violin play while his hands separated from the bow. Harvey Firestein's unmistakable voice may not project every word and I'm certan some of the lyrics were lost on those who've never heard the score. His rendition of If I were a Rich Man was far from classic..BUT, he more than makes up for it with a sense of comedic sarcasm that any Jewish theater goer would have experienced in his or her own home while growing up. He knew when to make us laugh and when to touch our hearts. His ensemble was second to none and the three eldest daughters singing Matchmaker were superb. The dance numbers were so beautiful and exciting, making this show a quadruple threat, dancing, singing, crying and laughing.

Tevye was the best and the overall production was fun. Being Jewish and having done the show myself several times as Music Director I can't help but compare it to other productions I've seen and done myself. I understand that you cast the best that you can with who is available and there is not a large Jewish population in the Inland Empire. The actors were largely convincing even though their appearance was pretty gentile. It was our first show at the California Theatre and we loved the venue. I was totally comfortable but my wife insists it was too cold. She made me say that. Too bad you couldn't get a bigger orchestra but it did okay. I have never before seen a doubling on trombone and violin. Please tell Mark Vargas I would have enjoyed talking to him to learn how he came to have such an eclectic skill set.

The performance by far exceeds what one would expect of high school actors. Minimalist sets supported the action of the play and choreography was well done. The young man playing Tevye was absolutely outstanding. Kudos to make-up, tech, the orchestra, and, of course, the faculty director for a splendid production. I can't wait to see more from Wahlert!

The music of Fiddler is always great. I found the sound system difficult. From the loge, the music and female voices were strident and tinny, I'm sure not an indication of the singer's true voices. I thought the dream scene was inappropriate for the time and character of this musical. It belonged in a rock or pop score. The settings were nicely done and the acting was professional. My granddaughter was very happy to be there.

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is an EXCELLENT story of what life & village was like in Czarist Russia circa 1903.... Torah readings...Blessings by the Rabbi....Jewish tailor apprenticeship....tradition of Jewish father to care for daughters....the sadness of breaking up family..... the heart-breading expulsion of great, loving, hard-working, honest, diligent Jews in a Russian village....very much a REALITY in HISTORY! I am hugely opposed to plays and movies, but this one has MEANING and PURPOSE and EDUCATES!

We went to this performance expecting to see college kids performing. Based on local high school talent, we figured it would be worth seeing. The 5 star rating is for the actor in the lead role, Tevye, who was fearless in embracing the role. And he was so good - amazing voice, great timing on the humor, completely credible as the character. Other stellar performances - his wife, their daughters, and the tailor, who was also completely credible in his role as the timid suitor. There were also several children in the play, including one very young boy. They were all amazingly convincing - they knew their lines, they knew the words to the songs, and they were on step and in sync with the older actors in every dance.

Fiddler On the Roof was the most touching musical of those I've seen. What was remarkable is that the story is true-to-life, probably part of the life story of many who were there, through their ancestors, as it was the story of the Pogrom of the Russians taking the land and property of the Jewish people, forcing them to come to America when they had nowhere else to go. The Jewish people in Fiddler were in Czarist Russia. Tevye and his wife are worried about finding husbands for their three eldest daughters. As, one by one, they fall in love, the story revolves around them as the Russians warn the family to sell their property and leave in 3 days. Of course they can't sell in 3 days, so they leave everything behind to go to America. Their strong personalities on stage and the music make this musical heart-warming and unforgettable. The wonder of "If I Were a Rich Man", "Matchmaker, Matchmaker", and "Sunrise, Sunset", are to remember over and over again.

We really enjoyed the performance of "Fiddler on the Roof" at Ames on April 13. The production was well thought out, and the actors/singers were great. My only complaint is that you couldn't see some of the actors when they were singing on the far left. They needed to step toward the center just a little bit. But overall, it was a great performance that I would highly recommend!!

This is the first time I've seen this play, and I am glad I saw it at Toby's Dinner Theatre in Columbia. The cast of the play, who were the ones serving us during the dinner portion of the event, were very friendly. The acting and singing were terrific. I thought the production was done well and for the most part the acting was good. I think the accents used in this production could have been more consistent with the characters. If everyone is from the same small town then how come some characters had distinct Russian accents while others did not. It was a very enjoyable evening. Fiddler on the Roof is such a well loved show. The understudy played the part of Tevye - and although we were initially disappointed with that news - he did a wonderful job! (of course!) Our seats were great. There were many empty seats which was too bad. My only complaint would be the volume of the pit orchestra. There were several times when they drown out the performers (Dream scene, Tailor's song). All in all though, it was a very good performance and I would highly recommend seeing this show.

The musical as wonderful, as were the actors. We were somewhat disappointed that the main character actor was played by an understudy, but otherwise the play was great. The orchestra was playing a bit faster than the actors could sing. And the spotlight was slow in catching up to the principal actor it was supposed to be focusing on.

I've waited a long time to see fiddler and brought my husband, son and his family including two teenagers. We all had a really nice time together. The singing was awesome and the players were well cast.

The play was good from the opening moment. Seemed like a 2 hour play because it was continual action and kept you having fun.

First off let me qualify my review by letting everyone know that I have a friend in the cast of the national tour of FotR. That said my wife and I liked the show for all the reasons one enjoys Fiddler. If there were any moments where the production might have been better they weren't many. At times Jimmy Ferraro who plays Tevye was a bit over the top, but why not! He is so comfortable with the role much can be forgiven. His overly cutesy delivery of "Do you love me..." was played for laughs which was fine the first time he sang it but should have become more honest as the song went on. I missed the transition to pure affection during the song that my soul was waiting for. As with many touring shows there were a few rougher than Broadway moments both on stage and tech. Nothing show stopping and none of them got in the way of the pure joy of sitting in the dark with a few hundred of your closest friends and being entertained by a musical theater classic. If the tour comes near to where you are go see Fiddler. It will not disappoint.

Absolutely LOVED this play. It was even better than I had hoped. The singing, dancing, moving moments. Plenty of laughter. I am still humming "if I were a rich man..." days later!! The audience was completely enthralled. Not once did anyone talk or make any noise thruout the play. During a sad moment in the play it was absolutely silent in that theater. I am so happy I went!

I have seen this production around the US and the cast of the show given in Fort Wayne, Indiana left me very disappointed. Jimmy Ferraro who played Tevye did such a poor job singing If "I Were A Rich Man" ... very unenthusiastic (as if he were bored) and his voice was not very strong. I didn't feel this cast melded well. The dream sequence was done poorly. I really don't want belabor this but I've seen much better productions. I wish I hadn't spent the money.

The play was very good, with a good cast. However, the Embassy Theatre still suffers from inadequate nearby parking. If you go to an event at the Embassy, please allow an extra 15-30 minutes to find alternate parking in case the nearby parking garages are full due to other events in the area.

Fiddler on the Roof was very enjoyable! The singing was fantastic and the set design and costumes were great. My husband who is not a big musical fan enjoyed himself.

It was disappointing as most of the voices were not strong enough. It just wasn't as impressive as other plays I have seen.

This was an excellent show. The casting, the music, the background projections, the dancing, the acting, all were exceptional. The only disappointment was not knowing more about the actors (a playbill) It would be nice to know a little more about each one of them. The show was wonderful.

It was a great evening of classic musical theater. I took three people who had never seen it. They were amazed. I was sorry that the house wasn't sold out. The price was definitely right. It was a very entertaining evening.
