Adam Franklin and Swervedriver just keep getting better, smarter,- more powerful in their performance. This was not just a band replaying their songs from the early 90's- They did play songs from all 4 earlier albums, plus a few great ones from the one they just released, but every song was an intense structure of sound, re-invented each time they play it. Consistently loud, but not overwhelming-there were moments of shimmering beauty throughout and Adam floated his voice over and through each composition. At the best times, the feeling was something like seeing a great jazz musician, like Miles Davis or Mingus play- a few minutes of explanation in cultured tones- then we are thrown into a sprawling, sonic experience. The encore set featured a thrilling version of Last train to Satansville, the band's take on a classic blues theme turned into a sort of existential trip to mental hell, and a glorious re-invention of 'Duel" that as far as I can remember, finished the night.

After more than 25 years of undying love for their music, I must say Swervedriver continues to thrill and amaze. Just such a rare honor to see them still having fun and still at the top of their game. Most criminally underrated band ever. First time at Teragram. Loved the place! Nice and intimate feel.

The venue is really cool with lots of parking available across the street and in the area! Sound is not the best but it wouldn't deter me from going here again. Great time had by all!

Had to leave early so only saw first few Swervedriver numbers. Edgier than I expected. The two support bands were great. First up were nice and tight with an original approach. Loud and lovely! Next up were efficient and had a sexy girl who did fun stuff with bubbles. Really enjoyed.

It's been well over two decades since I last caught Swervedriver in the pubs of London and Oxford. Crammed into a stuffy sold out Mercury Lounge space, I began to question the logic of coming out on a Monday work night in my late 40's. The band themselves, who looked like they had probably just walked off jet lagged off a plane, began with subtle melody but quickly worked there way up in intensity to cover pretty much their entire catalogue in a captivating night of tunes. I had to wonder how Mick Quinn could have mastered so many songs as a fill in bass player. So happy to see this band playing again. The new album has definite chops. Classic night.

I was really excited to see the band after so many years! The band came on an hour late first off. 11:30 on a Monday night. Then the sound at Mercury lounge is total crap. Not the bands fault. But not helpful that they didn't complete a sound check. Overall could've been better. Maybe next time.

One of the greatest and THE most under rated bands of all time. Their albums are great, but you have to see them live! Every live show is a great mix of their entire library of music and they rarely do the same show twice. In a world full of teenie pop girl and boy bands, and "rock" bands forced down you throats by record companies and iTunes, it's nice to see a real band, with real integrity, doing it on their own terms.

They played a good mix of old favorites and great songs from the new album. I am so happy that they are doing new stuff, which will hopefully lead to more tours in the future! Also, kudos to Supergrass' Mick Quinn, who filled in admirably on bass.

I was blown away by Gateway Drugs opening set, and even more amazed by Swervedriver's latest songs live and some of the classics. Just an absolutely amazing show from beginning to end. GVD

Excellent show. And I am someone not given to hyperbole, who is usually disappointed by shows. Even though the music is 20+ years old, it doesn't sound dated, at least not to me. Excellent psychedelic shoegaze.

Such a fantastic band played a great set covering many different songs from there 20+ year catalogue (with some new surprises) to a packed Bowery Ballroom crowd that was enjoying the "space walk". Excellent evening and CANNOT WAIT to see them again.

This show ruled. Getting progressively harder now to see a "real" shoegazer outfit so I couldn't pass this up. Up first was Heaven great act with dude wot played with Dean and Britta + Ambulance LTD both shined through well. Synth heavy but more blissed out sound overall. Swervedriver killed it. They have a hard sound that is into you like a train at first but it proves to be dynamic enough for the more thoughtful guitar work in some bridges. Drummer was very tight and was the center of gravity (rightfully so) more often than not. As this band's prominence was getting on twenty years ago!, I was hoping for something new, would have been fun to hear how they communicate today. Everything off "Mezcal" is crucial 'Gaze and I think they played more than half the tracks off that. Early in the set they slapped me in the face with a great cover of "Motor Away" it blew my mind. Being a Sega Genesis kid I was raring to hear "DUEL" all night they played it absolutely last I'm not bummed about it but would have been down to hear it absolutely first it is that kind of song. This band rules check them out also Bowery Ballroom is head and shoulders over lots of other manhattan venues 9/10 podium stuff all the way well done boys

Awesome. They were better on this stop in NYC than they were 4 years ago when they played the same venue. A band that should have been much more popular than they were/are.

The show was everything I'd hoped for. I had always wanted to see Swervedriver back in the nineties, but I was never able to do so. I'm so glad I heard about this show and was able to go, because they haven't missed a step. Adam's voice sounds just as good as it always did, and they put on a fantastic show! I would not hesitate to see them again, if they ever come back through NYC.

Finally got to see 'em! Drove 200 miles one way so it was worth it. This band is always in my CD rotation so they never gather dust that's for sure. So unheralded. If you like a band go see 'em, you'll never regret it. Thanx Swervies! And keep writing its never too late to get the airplay you deserve.

It was great to hear so many old songs, and a few later-period songs that they hadn't played in a while. Also the GBV cover was a complete surprise but it totally worked. No idea who the fill-in drummer was (their original drummer couldn't get a visa, I heard), but he was really great!
