I had not been to a show at Ludlow Garage since 1971. This is a nice intimate seated venue. Most of the crowd was respectful, except the folks talking on the front row, who received bad looks from the band. Sound mix good, but I couldn't hear backup singers. Jesse's vocals not as rich as they were, but he can still hold a note. Band sounded great. Ridgetop, Ride the Wind, Darkness Darkness, Get Together. Good show.

Jesse Colin Young, his guitar and his voice were in top shape on his first set which he took solo. Memorable songs and just a voice that doesn't age. Truly an outstanding set. Then his new band of recent Berklee Music grads that includes his son on bass took the stage with him for the second hour. Walking down memory lane with many of his signature songs, Jesse and the band left the audience speechless at the musicianship and quality of the performance. Each band member was featured and there was not a weak link in the group. The lead guitarist was exceptional and has a long future in music. From Marvin Gaye to Darkness, Darkness it was one musical wonder after another. Truly a magical evening. So glad Jesse came out of retirement to do this.

Jesse Colin Young always puts on a wonderful show. The music is consistantly enjoyable with a nice mix of old and new. He is not to be missed expecially at smaller venue's. The only reason this particular show didn't get five stars is because as sometimes happens at B.B. Kings we were stuck next to a booth of younger people who were there more to drink and laugh than to appreciate the show.

Seeing Jesse was a trip down memory lane. He took me right back to the seventies. He looks great. He is in great voice. His band has a terrific energy. I loved the way he jazzed up some of his old songs. The new songs were wonderful as well. Not only would I recommend that my friends go see him I would be excited to hear him play again. My only complaint was that it was not enough. I could have listened to him sing late into the night. BB KIngs is a perfect venue for him.!

The Youngbloods were the first concert I ever saw in 71. Song for Juli continues to be a favorite album. Jesse and his band delivered. His voice is just as fine now as it was in the 60's and 70's. Enjoyed his new songs as much as the old. Hope he comes back to NYC soon.
