This was the first time seeing Graham Central Station since the civic Center in Philly in the 70's with The Ohio Players. And even though not the original group Graham is still the man the show was awesome, they did Graham central Station songs along with Sly and the Family Stone songs. Terrriffic. Will be going again in August

Wednesday night at B.B. Kings was one of the most unforgettable nights of my life. Larry Graham and Grand Central Station started the night off by marching to the stage from the back of the room like a marching band. The band took the stage and played some GCS tunes, Larry took an AMAZING Bass solo, venturing into the audience and just tearing it up on the Bass. Larry and the band then invited people from the audience up to jam with the band, he had people on stage with him singing, playing sax and playing guitar, among them was the woman who plays in the Letterman band. ( She Rocked! ) Larry then played a medley of Sly and the Family Stone tunes, inviting the original drummer to come up and play. Prince then came out and jammed for a song and then Larry marched the band out like they came in. The band played for over 2 and 1/2 hours. What a great night. Thank you Larry and GCS . THE BADDEST BAND FROM EAST TO WEST GCS! GCS!......................

Larry Graham....King of the funk bass and major league bad@ss, decked out in his pristine Sunday-best white suit with glittery Rhinestone trim and matching cowboy hat. The man loves what he does and it shows; Larry loves his fans and we love him too. A special guest appearance by his good friend Prince made for a little extra added bonus, and the intimate setting of BB Kings made this one a night to remember for a long, long time.

This was the best show ever!!! My husband and I were on our feets from the beginning to end. We loved everything about the show: Larry's entrance, the energy in the crowd, the performance of the band, the intimate setting of BB Kings, the connection that Larry had with the audience, the selection of songs that were song and the duration of the performance. We felt that we were truly entertained. We had so much fun that we lost our voices. What a treat! Larry, you still got it!!!! AGAPE

Larry Graham had clearly come home. The energy of this show was nothing short of amazing. 2.5 hours of non-stop play. This concert was part family reunion, part rock concert, part Barry Whiteish, part Funk-a-delick (is that even a word?) In short, PURE FUN! Larry G and band rocked the place, great venue.

First, the highlights... Larry Graham and GCS showed that they still have a lot left in the tank! With their single-file marching entrance through the crowd and coordinated attire they looked every bit the tightknit band that would go on to perform a slammin' set that lasted an hour and a half. In the first half of the set, they played pretty much all of their GCS hits and rocked every one of 'em! Then Larry did his ballad, "One In A Million", and a couple of other ballads that lasted for about 15 minutes. After that, they broke into some Sly and The Family Stone funk, which they absolutely ripped!!! The show ended with Larry bringing about 40 friends and family on stage, the highlight being his crazy cousin's dirty dancing and being removed from the stage by security...while still dancing!!! Too funny!!! The whole band looked and sounded great, lead, of course by Larry, who is aging gracefully to say the least. From what I saw, GCS could go on jammin' for a long time to come! And I'll be right there when they come around again! Now the lowlights... Slave??? Yeah, they were there. Sort of. With no original members, this amounted to a cover band playing some of Slave's songs! This was pretty much confirmed when they started playing Kool and The Gang's "Ladies Night" and a cover of something else that I can't even remember. You know it's bad when the band asks for ladies to come on stage and nobody went!!! Slave was pitiful!

This was one of the best concerts I've ever attended. Larry Graham and Graham Central Station (GCS) performed for almost three hours and had the audience on its feet clapping, dancing and singing along throughout the night. Graham performed all of the favorities for which he is well known and his voice and bass playing were exceptional. From the grand entrance that featured Larry and his band, all dressed in white, marching in like a high school marching band from the rear of the Regency Ballroom with Larry leading the procession and playing a drum, to the finale almost three hours later, it was a one-of-a kind extravaganza that engaged all of the senses. This was my first time seeing Graham perform live and I was impressed by his command of the stage and showmanship. A highlight of the show was when Graham sang his hit song "One in a Million" as a tribute to a special group of married couples in attendance. Among them were his father and mother-in law, Bill and Lena Fields, marrried 44 years, and 50 year honoree Raymond Gumbs, owner of Gumbs' Barber Shop in Hayward where Graham grew up and graduated from high school. I would encouage anyone that has an opportunity to see Graham and GCS live to do it; you won't regret it.

This was a GREAT show! Larry Graham played and performed for about 2 1/2 hours non-stop. He kept the audience engaged and alllowed them to be part of the experience. Larry played all of his hits and took us back to his roots with some songs from his days with Sly & The Family Stone. He was truly touched by the recption from those in attendance and reminded us that San Francisco is his "True Home" where it all began for him, even though he is currently living in Minnesota. When Larry comes BACK to S.F. Get tickets and go to the show. You won't regret it.

The crowd jumped to their feet the moment they marched in and did not land until the final thump on the tamborine. It was like being at a family reunion. Love permeated the room. Graham conducted his band and the audience as Leopold conducts a great symphony. They played danced sing and that was the crowd. The band got off. He brought back so many memories especially when he started playing some of the hits with Sly and the Family Stone. Larry left it all on the stage. This man is the #1 funk Master. If you play bass (I do), he ran a clinic. He started thumping notes between the notes. In a funky sycopated manner never to be heard again. I thoroughly recommend this show to everyone who enjoys old-school music and want a good time.

Last night, we saw Larry Graham and GCS (the baddest group from East to West) in San Francisco. Larry was still awesome on that base, full of energy and connected with the audience as though it were 1979!!! He gave us TOTAL and absolute value for our ticket price; he played 2-1/2 hours!!! That's right; he gave his band a break, but he NEVER LEFT THE STAGE from 10:15 pm to 12:45 am this morning. Cannot wait to see him again; even if we pay more, I know we'll get our money's worth PLUSSSSSS.

OMG!!! This show was amazing. Slave was good but the reason I was there was because of Larry Graham and Grand Central Station(GCS). Larry's intro was great - the band in all white entered through the crowd as a marching band. At that moment I felt my blood pressure rising anctipating them taking the stage. They made their way to the stage and the band got down. He played a great deal of GCS songs and alot of Sly and the Family Stone's hits. A nice treat was the drummer from Sly's group jammed for a couple of songs. Larry sang One and A Million and honored couple's who've been together for 30 or more years and one of those couples was his mother & father-in-law. OMG the father was so loving kissing his beautiful wife passionately several times on the cheek . I was overcome with emotions. Alright, enough about the mushy stuff!!! Larry and GCS played well over their time frame but I'm sure he was on stage for 2 1/2 hours. The show ended with his family joining him on stage - you can see and feel the love. Overall Larry & GCS was AMAZING and Larry was really appreciative of the love the Bay Area was giving. I didn't want the night to end but it did & I'm thankful and honored to have seen and heard such an amazing musician.

For a man that created a style that influenced EVERY electric bass player Larry Graham is highly overlooked. The man is the consummate entertainer and nobody stayed in their seats. GCS performed some of their greatest hits as well as some tunes from the Sly and Family Stone days that included original drummer Greg Errico who I had the pleasure of meeting along with session ace and David Letterman house bassist Will Lee. Larry Graham played with as much energy and enthusiasm as he did when I first saw GCS over 30 years ago. But this was special because of the intimacy of the club and the connection between the band and the audience. This became truly evident when they invited members of the audience to sit in. Prince sitting in was just the icing on the cake.

I am a huge Prince fan. Prince makes sure he introduces his fans to great musicians, and Larry Graham has been one of them. I have seen him play plenty of times with Prince, but last night he took the house down with his band, Graham Central Station. Prince showed up and played guitar and sang along to "Thank u for Letting Me Be Myself" (I know that this is not how they spell it in funkland, but I am too tired to look it up). We had such a great time.

It was a home coming of sort for Larry and the group. Many members of Larry's extended family joined him on stage at the end of the concert. He started the set with classic Graham Central Station standards and closed with Sly & the Family Stone greatest hits. I thought he was going to play all night. The concert lasted a full 3 hours of non stop funk. The energy and talent was amazing. The only issue I had was there was no horn section.

Never get tired of his performance or the songs. He is a people person. After the show at Birchmere no matter how tired he was. He still took his time to meet everyone in line. Take pictures, sign autographs. Just sit and chit chat with you. An my girl Biscuit, his singer she is awesome. Wonderful personality. I even got to get on stage and dance with them. This was the BEST Funkfest ever, from Breakwater who set the tone for the whole concert to Bootsy who did not disappoint. All the bands were great, especially when Breakwater covered all their songs and the lead singer did a great job (he sounded like Kae Williams, so that was excellent!!). Bootsy and his Rubber Band tore the ROOF of the SUCKA and when he came out into the audience, that was a great moment. It was very cool that security allowed for everyone to come to the front of the stage..I got some great "selfies" as well. Now for the coup de grace...Mr. Larry Graham and GCS....they KILLED IT!! All the band members (especially Biscuit) showed off their chops and it was the finale of all finales! Well done Dell East staff...and thanks for adding the bar to the concert, since that was not available in the past. Please keep bringing quality shows like this..2015 was one FANTASTIC YEAR

This was a great night of funk and each group brought it starting with a local band Breakwater. The treat for the audience was that Bootsy Collins played with George Clinton & the Parliament Funkadelics and James Brown and he played some of their hits along with his own. Bootsy also changed clothes about 4 times and each outfit was more outrageous than the last. Larry Graham closed the show and he was the icing on the cake. He entered from the top of the Dell coming down the stairs and through the audience playing his guitar. He has a fantastic band and back up singers and everything was tight and on point there was never a dull moment all night. The don't make harmony like that any more and none of his singers or musicians needed any enhancements. Larry also played with Sly and the Family Stone and Prince and played some of their music

Last year I saw Larry Graham at this same venue and he opened the show. His performance was so energetic and strong he should have closed that show. However this year his performance lacked energy and the song selections did not flow. There were a couple of dead moments, one when he ask each band member who were their influences and then proceeded to play a bit of of their choices. He was best when doing GCS hits and covering Sly & the Family Stone. He voice was good and his band sounded great. Larry Graham, what an awesome Bass player, I give him 5 stars. I wasn't impressed with his replacement for chocolate, the girl Biscuit could not sing more screaming no soul, she said Tina Marie was her Idol she can't hold a candle to the late great Tina... The most disappointing part of the show for me and my partners, was Bootsy Collins, he spent to much time changing clothes and talking to the crowd, we came there to hear him sing the songs that made him Bootzilla. He sang more Parliament songs then songs he made when he left the group. He spent 20 minutes preparing the crowd for his entrance into the crowd that was 20 minutes he could have sang...Wind Me Up or some of his other hits...truly disappointed..I'm glad I didn't waste my money on more expensive seating...

Larry Graham still got it! He is a great performer. I was a little disappointment that Chocolate was not with the band. Also, I didn't like that he played more of other artists songs than his own. I think I was looking for Larry Graham and Graham Central Station from 1977. I remember them playing for 2 1/2 or more hours at the Capital Center when Sly didn't show up (surprise). That concert is embedded in my memory. Overall, I enjoyed the show.

Saw Larry Graham and Graham Central Station again this year after thoroughly enjoying last year's concert and I was not disappointed! The crowd was loud, danced, sang and totally were in the moment! Will go AGAIN for a 3rd time if they return to the Birchmere !!!

What do you know about Larry Graham, GCS & The Family Stone? If you know a little something, it's fine, you learned some more; if you knew more than a little, then you were reminded why Larry is truly the Godfather of Funk. Period. Larry's repertoire is yet fresh and lively, with dynamic stage presence... He conveys a mastery that is rarely seen among today's top artists, and all the chops to bring class in session! The crowd fell in with all the familiar tunes, and a gent sitting next to me w/his crew from Boston asked about a number unsung, "Can You Handle It?" Sorry "Chubby", but your song is coming the next time...Stay fun and healthy Brother.... All the style, finesse and in-your-face FUNK was fulfilling to say the least, and the Meet-And -Greet was a gracious ending to an outstanding event......Roll on Godfather...

THIS WAS BY FAR THE BEST THE BEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER ATTENDED!!! What a fantastic night!! Larry Graham and the band took us on a 2-hour musical journey that, for most folks in the audience, was a sound track of our lives. No GCS fan should miss an opportunity like this!

First of all to the people of the Howard Theater: very nice, a classy spot, security, food etc.: Now If you didnt attend you miss something special, not only can Larry Graham play bass but "Lord Have Mercy " that man can not sing but "sang". Before Isley Brothers, George Clinton, Rick james, Ohio Players, Prince lets set the record straight as it pertains to the Funk: we witnessed a icon yes icon you better ask somebody, what a show!

Larry Graham was excellent! He and GCS performed for a straight 2 hours. He can still "slap" that bass. He is a living legend. I would definitely pay to see him perform again.

Larry Graham really impressed me with his performance, showmanship and by still having such a command of his gifts. I loved every minute of the show. He must come back to Washington DC I saw him at the Capital Jazz Festival about two summers ago, the Birchmere this year and he turned those places out. And just when I didn't think it could get any better he topped it all at the Howard Theatre!. I appreciate him signing his new cd cover for my brother who lives in New Mexico and would have loved to see him. My brother, Kevin Ball, introduced our whole community in SE DC to Larry Graham and funk back in the 70's . He was even at the No Show Sly Stone Concert when Larry had to carry the night. I love the way he engages his wife into the show and lets the audience feel a piece of their love. It would be nice to see him sing a love ballard to her, but thats another show.... Thank you, Larry Graham for thinking about us enough to come back to DC. i hope the next time they play 'CAN YOU HANDLE IT"

From the moment the drum line started playing at the beginning of the concert to the all out jam session at the end of the show, the whole night was electric! Larry Graham and Graham Cental Station give you an experience for the eyes and the ears that send you on an energy filled time warp into the 70s. They play a mix of GCS favorites mixed with some Family Stone classics and a couple of new jams from their new CD. It's amust see show. You won't be dissappointed!

Larry Graham and Graham Cenral Station were off the hook! Larry Graham still has it goin' on with that deep baritone voice that gives you shivers the moment he opens his mouth! And he plays that bass guitar better than ever, thumpin' that thing like crazy! He and GCS are still so full of energy and they had the Birchmere rockin'! Funky!! It was so good to go down memory lane and hear those old goodies, while singing along and dancing and grooving to that great music. The Birchmere is a great venue to see great entertainment. I can't wait for Larry Graham and GCS to come back! I will definitely be there again! The only reason I won't give 5 stars is because there were a few big hits he didn't sing, namely "Now Can You Handle That" and "When We Get Married." But still the show was off the chain!

As always Graham & crew didn't disappoint. We were up. down & all around. The vibe in venue, him talking about the "catfish" (that's what I had also ordered) and pure joy at being back with us was quite touching. While my hubby was upset that Larry didn't play 'Hair" or "Can you handle it", the playlist was satisfactory. He took me back to the old "Capital Center" days. Larry & The Station can always come back to visit and we will be there to see him.

Concert was amazing. This dude is probably in his late 50's or early 60's and he's putting it down like a YOUNG buck. His bass playing is still awesome and his showmanship is old school. Dude did a 2 hour set, for God's sake.

A spectacular show with accomplished musicians. Larry Graham has stood the test of time. He pleased the crowd by doing all his hits and added some Sly and the Family Stone tunes from his days when he was Sly's bass player. The only minus was a seemingly uninterested technical crew who were not prepared to deal with breakdowns. Graham remained professional under incometent circumstances that would have angered me and probably most performers.

Incredible show. Tons of energy. Great sound. Fun tunes. Larry played his classic stuff (including "Hair" and instrumental versions of "Earthquake" and "Water"), Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground" and Sly and the Family Stone music. They played "If You Want Me To Stay" and it morphed into a "Does Anybody Out There Want Some?" and they brought people out of the audience up on stage to play with the band - it was some amazing stuff. Among the guest players was Felicia Collins (guitarist from the David Letterman Show). By the way, Will Lee was in the audience. Larry called up Greg Errico (orignial Sly and the Family Stone drummer) to play on "Dance to The Music." It was nothing less than awesome. That led into "The Jam" (with the regular drummer). Then, for the last song, they played "Thank You For Letting Me Be Myself" and that's when Prince appeared to play with the band.

Larry Graham fan for 30 years, this show maintained the high level of energy and talent displayed from the very beginning. Mint Condition was phenomenal, will check them out the very next time I find them performing in town in any type of venue. Either group could have been promoted as the star act. Bravo!

This band should never be missed, if U get the chance to see them....GO!! : ) Larry Graham and the band were spectacular!! A new female vocalist, Ashley blu us away with her outrageous sound. The whole crowd was rocking and swaying all nite long : ) Larry's funky sound and song One in a Million opened everyone's heart, that Man sure has Soul!! Tahnk U for a magnificent Show!!

Just simply the best. This was my husband's Father Day gift. I now think I have to get him something else because I truely enjoyed his gift just as much as he did! It was precious to see a smile on his face, head bopping and he singing. Then he got up and went to work still smiling. It's two days later and I am still singing "A One in a Million". Thanks Larry.....I took a trip back in time and left all the cares behind.

Saw Larry and GCS at the Birchmire in Alexandria Va, and I have to say this was one of the GREATEST SHOWS I have seen in several years. I have to admit that Larry has been one of my favorite performers since the mid 70s, and on June 17, 2010, I was transported back in time! The new members of GCS Sounded Great and Larry has not lost a step! This is a show worth the money!!!

While the perfect place to have a concert is the Birchmere. Larry Graham and Grand Central Station were awesome...they came out partying and reminded me of the ole school party days lol. However, knowing your artist is vital to a concert hall. The Birchmere was inconsiderate to the fans. They should scheduled this show outside in the band area where it is equipped with hardwood floors. This would accommodate the many fans that luv to get their dance on. Instead of being discipline and chastise for standing in the isle. None the less drama did not stop us from "GETTING OUR PARTY "........ When in ROME do what the ROMANS do. Luv u much Larry Graham, keep doin wha cha doin...

This was one of the top shows we have ever been to. One of the most professional performances we have seen since Prince. I see why they hooked up and groove so well together, they are PERFECTION PERSONIFIED!! What class, what grace, what beauty they exhibited last night was amazing. There was no one in the house that was not jamming, or touched in some way by the AMAZING performance last night. It has been a long time coming because we true funk - a- teers have been "waiting for so long, waiting for Larry to play for us some of his songs", and he did not disappoint at all. We showed much love so he and his band would know that he will be supported no matter where he decides to play, there will always be a sell out like last night. All we can say is WOW!!!!!! What a helluva show - Larry Graham You are the MAN!! Keep banging that BASE!!

This was absolutely the best live musical experience I have ever had. The forum was small enough that basically any fan could physically interact with Larry and the band. He is wonderful performer. No one on the planet can play the bass guitar on his level. Hands down. He is a class act. I will never forget this show.

This is no disrespect to Mr Graham but, just as Mr Graham has grandchildren, so do I and I wished I had spent the money I paid to see him on them. I can appreciate Mr Graham is seasoned and if he needed to take a break fine, I could have accepted that but, not performing his music was not. Mr Graham showed up but, Graham Central Station did not. I apologized to my son for subjecting him to such a poor performance from such a talented artist. He has ruined my opportunity to continue promoting "old school" to another generation of concert listners. I thought the first song not belonging to Mr Graham was a run thru a warm up, but, no I was incorrect and in for a rude awakening. This was such a waste of time and money. Some of us continue to get up every morning and work hard to earn a living so once in a while we can enjoy a performer we assume will produce and perform a show we can appreciate. I have actually attended a concert where Sly Stone appreared, Stevie Wonder I have attended six of his concerts. SO! What was the problem? NO! Warner Bro Party NO! On Top of Old Smokey NO! Luckiest People NO! Can U Handle It. The organist almost missed his part and then thought it was laughable. What would make Mr Graham think we wanted to hear songs belonging to other artists when he didn't perform his own. I will never attend another show of his unless the tickets are free, it's not on a work night and I spend no money what so ever to include transportation.

OUT OF ALL THE SHOWS I HAVE SEEN AT THE BIRCHMERE...THIS WAS THE BEST. EVEN THOUGH HIS BAND MEMBERS TOOK A BREAK ;LARRY AND HIS DRUMMER RIO KEPT IT GOING. THE ENERGY JUST KEPT ON GOING. LARRY WAS 100% ABOUT HIS AUDIENCE. HE GAVE THEM EVERYTHING THEY WANTED AND MORE.. THIS WAS MY 1ST TIME SEEING HIM IN PERSON. IF ALL HIS SHOWS WERE LIKE THIS THEN I REALLY HAVE BEEN MISSING A LOT.

Larry Graham and Graham Central Station put it out there. They rocked the house. I danced, sang and shouted. Larry Graham looked amazing. It seemed like he is drinking from a fountain of youth.
