This was one of the best concerts I have ever seen! Paul Simon puts on a great show. His voice is strong, sweet, pure and beautiful. The band was so talented, it blew my mind. There must have been fifty different instruments on stage during this show, played by eight brilliant musicians. If the Sunday show wasn't sold out I'd go again tonight!

Not a great concert. Great song selection, Paul still sounds good but the staging was a bit disappointing, the camera guy was not good at all. I mean, when there is a piano solo, or sax solo, I'd rather see them play....instead of am image of Paul standing on the stage doing nothing. I'd give it a 5 out of 10 rating

Paul sang and played as I remembered back many years ago.It brought back some great memories of the 60s,70sand 80s. I particularly liked the different types of music he played from blues to caribean to gospel to folk, soft rock, rythem and blues etc. It was a fun evening for my wife and friends. Band was excellent, very talented.

First night of the tour, and many glitches. The band was not in synch much of the time -- the drummers could not find the rhythm at all on "Obvious Child" and then Simon just jumped in someplace in the middle. And Simon's top notes are long gone -- a problem with much of his older music meant to be sung in a high range. Worth it to see my favorite artist before he hangs it up for good, but overall a hugely disappointing concert by someone who has given some excellent shows in the past.

Music spanning more than 30 years of writing, and ranging from a solo acoustic "Sounds of Silcence", Southern Gospel, Cajun, Rock, and the ever-present rhythms from Africa and South America. He may be almost 70, but Paul hasn't stopped evolving his musical style.

I smiled, I cried, I remembered. His show was both nostalgic and new. The band was amazing and the variety of instruments used made the show incredibly fun, lively and very interesting. Worth every penny and the time it got to drive there over five hours. We would go and do it again in a heartbeat. Thank God we have his music to listen to for the rest of our lives.

One of the best concerts ever! Three encores and no one was leaving the venue. Paul Simon was just the best! He played old songs as well as new and the audience was totally engaged. I simply didn't want the music to stop. He played for two and a half hours and never left the stage.

Although it was a thrill to see Paul Simon in person at his Farewell Concert, my husband & I felt for the money we spent on the tickets(over $100 per tix plus fees), we would have liked to hear more of his songs from the 60's that Paul recorded with Art Garfunkel (he only sang 4 of them and almost all of them at the very end of the concert). We did feel the end of the concert was excellent when Paul came back out alone & was solo'd without his band in the spotlight. It felt very intimate (even though there were about 18,000 other concertgoers there with us) & as though Paul were singing to us alonel Paul certainly gave his all (especially for a singer in his 70's) and sang for nearly 2 1/2 hours. We also felt we got an inside look at Paul the man when he talked to the audience between songsl

This concert was a very moving experience and my sister and I were blown away. The love for Paul and his music was palpable in the audience and he got two standing ovations. It was so hard watching him walk off the stage for the last time. I ve loved his music from the beginning and he makes me feel like family. American Tune and Sounds of Silence were especially poignant and chilling in today s world. The incredible combination of Paul s music and lyrics has been a backdrop throughout my life and I m so grateful for this amazing legend. An opportunity to see him in a live concert is not to be missed!

This was my first Paul Simon concert, and it looks like it might be my last. I got seats on the floor which was nice, and the giant screen in the background always helps. This show proved that Paul Simon is a master songwriter and composer. The show was full of nostalgia, and wonderful moments. Besides obvious audience manners, the show was enjoyable. I was a bit disappointed that he didn't do many Simon and Garfunkel songs. They should not have double booked the event with a concert, and an A's game; caused confusion and traffic.

Great cross section of his 50+ year career. Got to hear the crowd favorites and some songs I'd never heard before. Voice was loud and clear when he wanted it to be. He was very appreciative of the love the crowd showed him. Huge, talented band behind him added some great rhythm to his upbeat songs. Of course, how can you not get chills when they turn off the big screen, turn off all the lights, one spotlight on him as he played and sang Homeward Bound? That was my highlight of the night. A must see show for sure!!

Concert Review of Paul Simon, The Farewell Tour- Oracle Areana, Oakland, CA, May 25, 2018 (1.5 stars out of 5) When the Eagles got back together after the death of Glen Frey, Joe Walsh commented that the band was having trouble synching it s sound up. This was a big issue with the Paul Simon s Farwell tour, without his long time lead guitar player (who passed away last year) the band is not quite in synch with Paul—everything seemed a little off, no matter what Paul tried to do to compensate for it. But like a typical New Yorker, Paul was determined to go down swinging, come what may. A worst fear of every professional athlete or performer is that at the end of the day their last performance/group of performances will find them subpar, less than their best. Someone close to Paul should have been honest with him and prevented this embarrassment from happening. You can see it in his last two concert DVDs- Hyde Park and New York City, but it has gotten worse now. Paul cleverly tries to hide this mess with his selection of many obscure songs, but it was VERY apparent during his biggest hits. Even the rousing You can Call Me All which ended his main set list was very off key (partially obscured by the fan sing along). I don t think I have ever heard a more off- key version of Kodachrome EVER! (Encore #1). Too much chit chat felt more like filler and distraction, rather than compliment to the songs. Stories like the one he shared about Rene and Georgette Margritte with their Dog After the War belonged in his book, but not a concert event like this one. Back to the obscure songs….including a song like Wrist Band in a Farewell was cheating his fans from hearing favorites such as Mrs Robinson and The Rock one last time live. During a few songs of the main set Paul clustered a few musicians around the ugliest piece of carpet ever in which he clearly tries to create a few songs where he tried to force things in synch (songs without a bass guitar). During several other songs Paul used hand gesture orchestration to try and get the sound together. His behavior reminded me of a High School band instructor trying to weed out that one sour noted kid and tighten his sound up…but never quite getting there. Even the two solo performances at the end of the second encore were way, way subpar from the Paul of earlier years. What Paul should have done given the circumstances if the show had to go on, is simply have a sing along with your fans of only your biggest hits (even if you had to have an opening act). Fans expect themselves to be a bit off key and out of synch, not one of the greatest American singer-songwriters of all time. I hate to say this, because I love Paul and his music, but this was probably the most poorly orchestrated event of this size I have attended this century—and that is saying a lot. Main Setlist America 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover Boy in the Bubble Dazzling Blue That Was Your Mother Rewrite Mother and Child Reunion Me and Julio Down By the School Yard Rene and Georgette Margritte with their Dog After the War Can t Run But Wrist Band Spirit Voices The Obvious Child Questions for the Angels The Cool, Cool River Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes You Can Call Me All Encore #1 Kodachrome Gumboots Still Crazy After All These Years Encore #2 Homeward Bound Graceland The Boxer Late in the Evening American Tune (Paul solo) The Sound of Silence (Paul solo)

Eagerly and longingly anticipated the final tour of a Paul Simon after he hinted of it in 2016 on his tour at that time. This was bonus time; Paul served up a very moving and touching reminder that no matter how great we are and how loved we are in the end we are all mortal and all things pass. He was spot on and his band was exceptional with the addition of some extremely talented young musicians. I wanted something so right live but never got it...it s ok tho I will always have Graceland and the Boxer

Always wanted to see him and attend an event in Hollywood Bowl. To do them both in one night checked two items off my Bucket List. Iconic venue with the hills and Hollywood sign in the background, searchlights crossing overhead. Sound quality was excellent, four small video screens on the side helped show the action. Paul gave an amazing concert mixing in his classic songs with new ones. Introduced band members from Africa who had been with him over the years. Paid credit to Art Garfunkel for all the great times they had singing together. Only real issue was the babooze controlling the stage lighting. This babooze actually thought it was a great idea to turn on the floor mounted, rear lighting to full intensity during some of the songs. Lighting glare were so overpowering Paul and his band were basically invisible to the audience. Had to turn away the light hurt your eyes, watch the side screens. Back screen was also blocked by the light glare. Not sure Paul was aware a rookie was operating the lighting. Overall a very good concert. Look forward to attending more events at Hollywood Bowl.

there are very few artists with a history, Library, and talent depth of the unique individual styling of a Paul Simon. A few years ago there were complains that his voice have been going. Whether it was just shredding or due to age or tiredness, the vocal chords are A physical quality that sometimes cannot be repaired. This event sadly brings out the worst in his singing ability. Not that it s that bad all the time, because for the most part the show was pleasant, but there was a cringe every few minutes When he went flat on a note or didn t carry a moment because his voice didn t want to go there. However, a masterpiece of an artist with a 17 or 19 piece band behind him covering genres that date back 50+ years is truly wonderful and a pleasant evening overall.

Paul Simon is one of my lifelong favorite singer/songwriters. This concert was superb with Simon going strong for almost 3 hours with 3+ encores. The beginning wasn t the best (the B&W screen view was not at all flattering). He played every song on my wish list and the arrangements were stunning with the participation of his many talented musicians. His comments were funny and informative. Most everyone was up on their feet moving or dancing for most of the show. I d go again if there s another opportunity, though I think he s earned the right to enjoy doing whatever he wants.

What a fun, lively and loving concert. Paul really showed he cares about his audience and connects with them. It appeared time and time again as he would warmly address the audience and grin and smile repeatedly wholeheartedly. His music and band were spot-on and flowed from the heart. You could tell they we re all enjoying themselves and putting everything into the performance, and the audience response was reciprocal. He said he has second thoughts about saying farewell because what would he do then. We'll see after the tour how much he has remaining, but the audience diffenately warmed to his reluctance of saying farewell. As he said in the end, these mountains will meet again!

One of the better concerts I've attended. Outdoor venue accentuated the creativity of Paul Simon and his troupe. While they started 20 minutes late, they performed a 30+ minute encore. This 73 year old has not lost his voice or his creative touch. While most musicians spiritual journey took them east, Paul went south and his music reflects that. No longer do I wish for a Simon and Garfunkel reunion. PS stands very well on his own. His band of 10 are versatile, flexible, colorful and spirited. Flute, accordion, french horn, BASS, sax, clarinet, piano, drums, mandolin, guitars - and I've no doubt left something out!

Paul Simon is one of those artists whose entire life is legendary. He's been so many places and at 75, his voice is almost entirely as fresh as it was in the 60s and 70s. So you know what? It was just an honor to be in the vicinities of Paul Simon himself. He was one of my top 10s that I had never seen live, but I made the decision to drive out from Tampa to St. Augustine to see him. I'll say one thing for certain: I've been to a lot of class acts in fifteen years....Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Yes featuring Anderson Rabin and Wakeman, and Billy Joel just to name a few. Excluding Billy Joel, Simon put on the best show I have ever been to. His backing band is spectacular, and they mixed it up that night with new and old hits, and about six songs from Simon and Garfunkel. Before this, I had never legitimately cried at a concert. But when Paul played "The Boxer," starting when he strummed the first chord, I bawled my eyes out. After "Diamonds of the Soles of Her Shoes" and "You Can Call Me Al" were played back to back, Paul gave us 2 very generous encores, along with a haunting yet breathtaking rendition of "The Sound of Silence" as his closer, featuring just him and his many acoustic guitars. I think he really only missed two songs I wanted to hear: "My Little Town" and "American Tune." But all in all, if Simon ever comes back to Florida, I will be there, regardless of the city.

Paul Simon did a mix of old S&G songs and his solo work. He has a great energy and banter with the crowd. His musicians are super talented as well. The only negative I'd say is that he left the stage and came back for 2 encores. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful he came back out, but there were a lot of people who left and missed what was probably the best moment of the concert. I feel for them.

Paul Simon was oh so good. Played his heart out. His voice has not changed at all. There was not one person sitting down when he played "Diamonds on the Sole of Her Shoes". Everyone was dancing. His new song "Wristband" and "Werewolf" were so good. I heard the song's prior to the release since I had bought tickets so early. Of course I had to by the Werewolf tee shirt even it is didn't include the concert tour and show dates. He came back out to play more songs. Incredible show. It glows in the dark!! Such a fun show. Pau emtertained us with new music and kept our toes tap and hands clapping with his old standards. I took part of a major piece of ,my bucket list Saturday night..

Maybe we went into the experience with unrealistic expectations. Maybe the rain killed the mojo. In any regard, we were not the only ones there who felt a bit ripped off and taken advantage of. Paul, at age 75, spent far too much time on his new stuff and shorted the standards. Here's a hint, if your last name is McCartney, play Beatles and Wings and if your last name is Simon, play -and-Garfunkel. Peter Gabriel made music in the pouring rain a fantastic experience... Paul made it barely adequate. Started late, spoke minimally and just seemed like had somewhere better to be.

The best show I have seen this year. The band was outstanding 9 piece and they were all equipped to play multi instruments at high level. Paul was classic Paul Simon. Blended in a few off the new album, which will be good. The classics were well played.

Such a great show. Our seats were balcony, section 9 and we could still see him perfectly. There really isn't a bad seat in the house!

Had a wonderful night attending Paul Simon at the great Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center Concert Hall. Always love seeing shows there because of the intimate setting, great sound acoustics and the views that the venue always offers. There s no bad seat! I always like to get a seat in one of the balcony sections. Paul s show opened with a few of my favorites like You can call me Al , Slip, Slidin Away , Late in the Evening and 50 ways to leave your Lover . From his Simon/Garfunkel days he played Homeward Bound , The Boxer and The Sound of Silence which was his show ender. Another song he played I really enjoyed was a song that I hadn t heard since I was a teenager but I loved it because of the drumming arrangements. The song is called the The Obvious Child . It was from the album titled The Rhythm of the Saints which came out in 1990. The Rhythm section in Paul s band was phenomenal! He had a drummer and a percussion set. They treated us to a couple of solos. Of course I was doing my air drumming! I also really enjoyed the diversity of his reggae, world, and folk music influences. His voice and harmonies were right on cue! Didn t miss a beat.

Paul Simon was fantastic in Birmingham. He played all of his great songs and interacted with the audience. His voice was great and his band was fantastic. I was reminded that he has written some of the great songs for our generation.

Paul Simon with his daughter Lily. Stevie Wonder and his daughter. Vince Gill and his daughter, then joined by Amy Grant and her daughters. James Taylor and Kim. Tom Hanks accompanying Rita Wilson on guitar. And Sting and Trudy - SOOOO fun!! "I can do anything better than you can!" Steve Martin and his band singing with Paul Simon's wife, Heart, and others. It was pure fun - and very special seeing them perform with family - there were incredibly proud parents/spouses all around!

While I was more of the superstars of the night had done a few of there mega hits (Stevie Wonder, Sting, Heart, ) Steve Martin and his bluegrass band were unbelieveably great, James Taylor sang Carolina and Paul Simon sang his Father Daughter song with...his daughter! So yeah, great night unreal amount of stars on stage and we were upgraded from 3rd Mezz to Orchestra. How about that!

Paul Simon is beyond what I could have expected. I got to shake his hand and I got one of the guitar picks he used on stage. He is one of my favorite artists from his time and he proved to me why this is true.

All the elements of a great concert are here. Incredible talent, an icon who appears to be a real and sincere person, still seems to love the music, and still sounds wonderful, melodic, and strong. The songs, so familiar, so beloved. The crowd joyful and appreciative. The band, wow. Video production great, song list great. The whole thing was just excellent, I am so glad I saw this show and this tour. Do not miss it if you grew up with this music, he honors it, and brings new life and energy and talent to the stage.

Paul Simon was fantastic, but I did not like the concert acoustics at Bridgestone Arena. Would have been even better in a smaller venue like the Ryman.

What a spectacle to get a sampling of every genre of music Paul Simon has had a hand in! I have been a devoted fan since I won tickets to my first PS concert in the early 90's. I was stunned by his Rhythm of the Saints music and proceeded to listen intently to all of his music from the very beginning while continuing to follow everything he produced from that point on. He has since had a direct influence on my life, and not just musically. So while I am very sad he will no longer tour or produce new music, I am overwhelmed with joy that I was introduced to him in time to enjoy the nearly 30 years of music and concerts that I have had the good fortune to experience. Whether you were a fan from the beginning or like me joined him on his journey along the way, you will not be disappointed by this last tour. It is a celebration and an excellent culmination of all he has contributed to world music! I hope there will be a video we can purchase so we can continue to relive it in the years to come!

I rarely go to big concerts. As a matter of fact, the last major concert I had been to before this was Paul Simon's Graceland Tour in Atlanta a generation or so ago. But when I heard Paul was about to begin his farewell tour, I had to be there. We had such a great time at this one in Nashville that it made me want to go see it again somewhere else, maybe his very last one in Queens. Paul is so talented, so creative, so humble in his concert and so generous when he steps back and lets his band-mates take center stage and show off their considerable talents. What a professional! I felt lucky to be there at this retrospective of his career, as I sang, tapped my feet and danced to all those old familiar songs. And, what a wonderful surprise it was when he talked about his heroes who included the Everly Brothers and then invited Don Everly on stage! They sang Bye Bye Love, after which Paul said it was his treat to be Phil Everly for the night. All the band members were obviously in awe of the moment and shook his hand as he exited. The only negative was the two men sitting behind us who talked loudly or sang throughout the entire concert. Although we brought earplugs to diminish the sound from the instruments, the voices of these two men chattering during the songs cut through everything, especially the quiet songs, and pierced the eardrums like fingernails on a blackboard. Finally, toward the end and almost too late, the gentleman next to me turned around and said we paid good money to hear Paul and the band, not you, which he had to repeat because they didn t understand what he was saying. Thanks, Paul, for the great memories. We look forward to what you ll be doing in retirement.

Don't miss Paul Simon's Homeward Bound tour. It was one of the best concerts we have ever attended! May we all have so much talent retained at 76. Great music from all periods of Simon's career. And an amazing band---the best we have ever heard.

Overall, I was glad I finally got to see him. I listened to his music a lot in the late 80's and early 90's. He made the mistake of going political early and lost the crowd for the first hour of the show. Strong finish and he played most of the great songs I wanted to see.
