George Mason University Patriots Mens Basketball

We were at the edge of our seats throughout the entire GMU vs. JMU game. My husband and I brought our 7-year-old son and his friend to the game with us. Our son loves sports and has been to GMU basketball games in the past, but it was his friend's first sports event and boy, was he excited! The boys had a wonderful time. The game's fast pace and the score being neck in neck the whole time made the adventure even more thrilling! We had good seats, too. The only down side (and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) was, we purchased the tickets on a promotion where you get 4 tickets, 4 Chick-Fil-A meals, and a Mason hat for $39. Sounds almost too good to be true, right? Yeah. So, when I purchased the tickets there was an additional $15 charge for service fees, bringing the cost to $54. Well, I decided to purchase them anyway, because it's still a pretty good deal, right? But then, came the kicker... We didn't eat dinner at home because we thought we were each getting a Chick-Fil-A meal, but when we got our Chick-Fil-A vouchers, we were told that we could not use them at EagleBank Arena that night. They could only be used at a different Chick-Fil-A location. What?? So we ended up spending $50+ more on dinner that night. It was annoying. I guess I should have read the fine print, but I thought the advertising for the promotion was a bit deceptive, GMU and Chick-Fil-A.

The game was pretty well matched for most of the game. Davidson was predicted to win and at one time that seemed to be an easy outcome. Lack of rebounds and a poor shooter dashed those hopes. With 13 seconds remaining Davidson was down by 3 and GMU was up for 2 free throws. "Game over man, game over." (Text to son at GMU: You won!) But then the unbelievable happens. GMU misses BOTH free shots and Davidson shoots a 3-pointer to tie. My heart is pounding like crazy! Can we keep it together to win? You betcha! The Davidson Wildcats outscore the George Mason Patriots 15 to 8 to seal the deal and win 80-73!

Great College Basketball matchup. Good game. Loved the college atmosphere. Great pep band.

GMU played a good game and beat Boston basically at the buzzer. Parents, teenage sons and grandma all enjoyed it.

George Mason bball games are always unforgettable and a great event! Best bang for buck and always fun to root for them, they win most of their home games UNLIKE other local teams in the area!

I was rooting for the visiting team, but this was still a great place to watch a college basketball game.

GMU bb game was Outstanding. The band was great the audience fantastic it was senior day!

It was a classic CAA matchup - GMU v VCU for a first place spot...Mason struggled most of the game but kept the game fairly close. Down by 5 with 30 seconds to go, it seemed impossible that Mason would pull it off, but they did, winning by one at the last second!

Great game! Great defense! CAA is the most underrated conference out there.

A great game that was very close and competitve even with very few lead changes. VCU seemed to lead most of each half only to have GMU to hit big shots right before the halves ended. None bigger than the shot at the buzzer when it seemed that VCU had assured a victory. I knew at least one of my kids would be happy.

Went to my first GMU basketball game. It was great and we won. Go Patriots!

The seats (section 116 row Z 3-4) that were sold to me where horrible. The court was blocked by the television so I spent majority of the game watching the game by being in my husband lap or standing up in my seat. These tickets should have been blocked off and not sold at all, since the court was unseeable from this area. When looking at the seating area via the site it does not include the television stand that blocked the view of the court, which made it seem as though the area was not that blocked. Unfortunately I was given misinformation. I would recommended my friends to watch the games but not to purchase tickets in section 114, 115 and 116 of row z due to the court being blocked.

Always great as an alumnus to come home and watch my Patriots win the Homecoming basketball game.

Really fun night, great, safe atmosphere for family fun and very affordable.

it's great to see the northern VA community come together. seeing families and even seniors in wheelchairs rooting along side college students for their local sports team is great. makes northern VA feel like a small town when that happens. wish gmu was this good when i attended.

the view was better than i expected for a corner seat

Great family entertainment, many kids and a good environment for playing basketball. The Wizards could learn something from the college students who play with their hearts and not for money. The Patriots played with a lot of energy and the band is always a great addition to the game.

Live at the Patriot Center is so much fun! Great basketball, love those Patriot fans, and blown away by Doc Nix and the Green Machine!

This game was awesome. Lots of energy in the crowd for this homecoming game. Enthusiasm for team and the incredible job done by the Green Machine band led by Doc Nix! A great experience, I can't get their themesong out of my head!

Great college basketball atmosphere. As an ODU fan I did not like the game result but can't wait to do it again next year.

My husband had never seen GMU play. He's a Georgetown alum and we've been to the Verizon Ctr many times over the years to see the Hoyas play. He had to admit the Patriots put on a better show on the court and in the stands. The "pep" band was amazingly fun as always and the game was thrilling to the end. And, of course, I can't omit that we were upgraded in the "Interstate Move of the Game" from "nose-bleed" to the front row, which totally enhanced our enjoyment! Thanks again GMU Patriots!

The seats were good. The pep band is amazing. The game itself was very exciting although Mason unfortunately lost. The extra entertainment was fun. We were a group of 8 and had a fantastic time and would go again. We've recommended it to others! Easy to get in and out, too which is nice.

GMU offered a ticket deal that included a hat, four tickets, and four vouchers for Chik-Fil-A meals. GMU failed to disclose that the vouchers may only be used at one Fairfax location. I live in Maryland. This should have been disclosed at the time of purchase.

The GMU vs VCU game was great! The seating was good and the game was exciting! The only thing was the process to obtain the Chick Fil-A coupons could have gone better. At first, we did not know where to obtain the coupons and went to Chick Fil-A within the Eagle Bank Center, where they told us that they were not accepted there. We had to ask some of the personnel where to redeem the deal, and they provided us coupons that could only be redeemed at the Chick Fil-A Fairfax location. We wish they could have been more explanatory in letting us know where to redeem the deal. Other than that, no other issues.

We had a great time at the game. Seats were great would sit there again!

Great game. It's why college basketball can me so much better than the NBA. Richmond was up at the half even though Mason's defense was better as they were shooting better from the perimeter but GMU's shot blocking ability and taller players than the Richmond squad was able outlast them in overtime. Great game!!

Great family experience for the value at a nice sports complex.

Took our two grandsons--ages 8-1/2 and 7. Everyone had a great time.

The event with friends was great. The young boys enjoyed the came and all the entertainment during the time outs and half-time. The Post dinner pack was enjoyed by all. Thank you Washington Post. We had good seats higher up than usual for me but what a view. You can see the play developing and player movements better when you are a bit higher up and further away. Great fun had by all.

Great game on court, brutal atmosphere off the court. One of the worst college basketball environments I have ever been in. Thank goodness the game was good. Horrible PA set up including the announcer and the speaker location. Less than zero excitement generated.

Good game but bad seats. The patriot center really shouldn't have put the video screen there

The Patriot Center is a great place to watch a basketball game. There are many options for food, and the fan involvement is always a lot of fun. From the blimp that drops gift cards, to the t-shirt tosses, I am always interested in going to watch a Mason game.

We had a great time watching men's basketball. GM vs GW! Parking was easy and we'd go back to this venue.

Seats were good (row P). Commute to arena was easy, parking was free, leaving arena was a breeze. GMU cheerleaders, dancers, etc. kept the crowd going at time outs.

Love going to Mason games. My only complaint is that there were plenty of empty seats closer to the floor that Ticketmaster said was unavailable when I went to buy my tickets.

Great College Basketball venue. UNI and GMU played great basketball and put on a very good show. Historically the to teams are evenly matched which led to a very close game and exciting finish. The Patriot Center isn't as nice as the Verizon Center, but it works for GMU. Would recommend going to a men's and/or women's basketball game. The pep band was also very entertaining.

Game was great but seats were unnecessarily terrible. When reviewing the seating plan, there were hardly any seats available for purchase. Truly, just a few spots here and there, and very limited to get 4 seats together. We ended up in Row P. When we got to the game, there were TONS of seats far better than ours that were vacant the entire game. Many of these seats, and bunches of them in the first ten rows in every section, but none were indicated as available for sale. There was just no reason we had to sit in Row P.

Where else can you watch a great basketball game, hear awesome music by Doc Nix and the Green Machine, win free prizes and yell out the frustrations of the week with the cheerleaders, students and Masonettes. Kids loved it. Cant wait till next season. Go Mason!!!

It was a fun, exciting game. I saw my alma mater, Towson, beat Mason in overtime.

There were a couple good players but the team was showed up by Georgia State,. The patriots need to work harder on defense and fundamentals like boxing out, running plays , offense. and foul shots.

Plenty of excitement with a couple of closely-matched teams. Good job of keeping entertainment going during breaks in play, with various promotional activities, dancing, etc. Really enjoyed the halftime show which included amazing boys basketball teams playing! Nice venue with plenty of restrooms, good concession options, and apparently sufficient parking, although this game wasn't that well-attended.

Seats were pretty high up but we sat by great people and watched a great OT game with N. Iowa!
