Ivy were in great form considering they haven't performed regularly in 5 years. Dominique's voice is as sultry as ever. She has a very appealing and natural manner. Andy and Adam are obviously skilled musicians. I quite enjoyed the show. The venue's sound system is a little disappointing but I've heard much worse. The sound of the hall has a muddy quality, noticeably inferior to the likes of the the Bowery Ballroom (the site of Ivy's previous New York appearance), the Mercury Lounge or the world class Brownies.

Both bands were impeccable. But I think too focused on reproducing the records, and so lacked any real feelings of spontaneity. I'd buy more CDs by them before I'd go see them live again. My main complaint was with the venue, which I thought was badly run. We went early to get a seat, but all of the seats were off-limits at first. So, we were there with an hour plus and nothing to do, until the first band came on. If that's their policy, they should advertise that. Later, people were sitting in those seats. I don't know why there was this change in policy. It's this kind of thing that makese me want to stay home (rather than go out) to listen to music.
