It was well worth the 8hr drive from Kentucky to Washington D.C. to see the Farewell Show of J.D.Crowe and The New South. My husband first saw J.D. in Lexington, Kentucky, in the 1970's and fully believed the band was never better than they were in this show. J.D. might be retiring but he's gone out on top!

This was one of J.D.'s last shows, and it reminds me why we'll miss him. His fingers seemed nimble on the banjo strings and his heart was in the music. The New South provides solid back up.

His band with its tight harmony and impeccable banjo playing was well worth the price of admission.

It was an honor to see JD and the band playing at the Birchmere. They played fantastic, and got in as many requests as possible. JD can still pick, and the New South can sure sing and play. All in all it was a great experience and an honor to see his last show before retirement.
