Show was very hot--Preemo taking his craft to another level with live instruments--what else can he do--I was impressed, and I'm not impressed easily--I go back to the very very beginning with this Hip-Hop culture-especially "Boom-Bap"

This show was so great- mixing a classic DJ set and a live band complete with brass is so innovative! Primo really brought his classics as well as my childhood heroes to life! The surprise local artists- such as Termanology and Big Shuge were just icing on the cake. RIP Guru- you are missed!

Easily one of the top 3 shows I've ever seen, any genre, in the last 20 years. This should easily be a Netflix or HBO special, memorialized and available for the world to see. God bless Premo and what he does for the hip hop culture!

Show started at 11pm, so you had time to get food and a few drinks with friends or significant other before going to the show. Because these two producers, DJ's have had a huge impact on Hip Hop music, the expectation was high and they did not disappoint!! Given the show ws billed as a competition they played each others music which was a nice twist and a compliment to one another. This night Brand Nubian was in the house to perform and this dropped classic songs produced by Premier and Pete Rock...All I can say is it was money well spent!!

Premo and PR went above and beyond to give their loyal fans, as well as those who just love their art form, the time of our lives. They enticed us with their samples and cleverly transitioned into an array of their greatest hits - and dug their crates for a few lesser-known tracks that any true hip-hop head would appreciate. Pete Rock's brother was the perfect hype man, entertaining with explosive dance moves and commentary that filled in any blanks. Premier amused anytime PR was about to drop a heavy joint, with his exclamations, antics and laughter. It was adorable and captivating to see his personality shine through. The cutting and scratching was of course exemplary. Their set list proved that time is their only limitation as there clearly was not enough of it to display all of their hits and Bangerz. Nevertheless the energy was electric; the crowd went wild with every drop and we wanted more, more, more! True to their stellar reputations for having incredible character and graciousness toward their fans, they gave us even more of their time at the end of the show, shaking every hand and signing every autograph. I was in heaven the entire time. I definitely got my money's worth - in fact I would've paid much more to see my two favorite produces of all time. They lived up to and exceeded every expectation!!!!

Okay so I am a huge hip-hop fan and as a DJ I was excited to get the chance to see on e of my idols in DJ Premiere. No slight to Pete Rock. He is dope, but not really known for his DJ skills. I have read a few of the other reviews and they are pretty much spot on. The show started late which was wack. Not sure who's fault it was, but it reflects negatively on all parties involved. Seeing them actually do their thing was cool. I would have like a little more cohesion between the two of them and maybe an MC or two. In conclusion, I would say that it is always good to see the era of hip-hop that I grew up with represented. I just wish it was represented a little bit better.

I've been to well over 50 hip hop shows, and this was probably my favorite one of all time. I wouldn't expect any less from these 2 dudes.

What a waste of my money and time! What a horrible reflection of DJ Premier, Pete Rock, and the Howard Theatre. I stood up for 2 hours because the show started 2 hours late. I've been listening to Premo and Pete Rock since back in the late '80s / early '90s. I will continue to enjoy their music, but I will NEVER go to see them in person again. Do yourself a favor. Save your time and money. Just watch clips of them on youtube. This would be a better way to spend your time. I've already told everybody I know to NEVER GO SEE THEM IN PERSON.

Primo & Pete Rock put on a great show. The 2 legends of hip hop played classic songs that took me back to days of my youth.

This was suppose to be a Hip Hop Dj Battle but it just was The Howard Theatre playing muisc til 1a.m. Not sure if Dj Premier or Pete Rock was not paid on time, but it seemed unorganized. Kurtis Blow was trying to keep the crowd patient, but even his emcee skills could not hold back the disappointment in the crowd. I am a DJ and this battle was not what I expected from two ledgends in the Hip Hop Culture.

Bottom line: If you are a golden era hip hop fan this was a must see. Shame on those who fronted on spending the money and time for this one. The only negative criticism that is deserving of this event is the late start time. They should have at least started by 12 AM. Doors opened at 10:30! Nevertheless, it was an unforgettable experience, the crowd was good and Preemo and Pete Rock made all of us remember why we loved the art. In fact I had to go home and try to re-create what I heard...But it can't be duplicated.

Event started 2 hours late. Showtime was 11p, so a start time of after 1am was unacceptable. I love these artists and was really looking forward to the show. That soured the event for me

As much as I love DJ Premier and Pete Rock, the show started 2.5 hours late. The show was to begin at 11pm and did not start until 1:25 in the morning. The show itself was great, but many people including me left half way through because of the time. This does nothing for the professionalism of hip hop.

The show was supposed to start at 11 but I knew it wouldn't start on time so I wasn't too upset at first. Then, it got to be about 1 o clock and still no sign of preemo or Pete rock ... I was kind of pissed then because we could see the stage and that everything was set up but still no show. They tried to entertain us with a weak documentary and lack luster dance battle but I PAID to see two DJs. When they finally started the real show (which they never apologized for being late) it was entertaining for a bit but they took too much time playing samples. I didnt wamt to be tjere till 4 am which what it was looking like would happen. Eventually I had to leave before the battle because it was already extremely late. It was more so disheartening than anger about my experience.

After I bought the tickets, the event start time was pushed back to 11pm, which was already late. But on top of that, the event didn't start on time. And when it did start, it was to show us a documentary that we did NOT sign up for. The actual DJ battle, which I think started around 1:30 am, seemed contrived and scripted. I left by 2:20am because I was exhausted and dissatisfied.

1st off, don't get me wrong... as a DJ since 1990 I've got more than enough respect from these 2 however you can't be selling tickets for a show that's supposed to start at 11pm and you don't come out on stage until 1AM. Some people gotta work, some people have kids, they pay money to see you out ON TIME. My employer doesn't pay me to come in late every day. I was pretty pissed off, tired, and hungry. We stood around (no opening acts) for 2hrs waiting for PR and Preem to do their show and a lot of people were walking out. The show itself I didn't really enjoy either. It was more or less those guys just playing each others records... I was like eh, I can listen to this stuff at home. No real originality in the show. I would rather have just been there to listen to them DJ a party, the whole individual DJ thing they did simply did not work. Their "set" seemed like something they coordinated over emails and not actual practice sessions. My 2 cents.

If you are a true hip-hop fan this is a must see. I could have done without the dance battle and extra that the Howard Theater put on prior to the start of the show. I get building up the anticipation but we waited several hours for the DJ Battle to begin. Even with that it was EPIC!!
