Sheila E.

This was my very first time seeing Sheila E. live in concert. I was very happy and excited. I stood on a line from 4:00pm until 6:00pm when they finally opened the doors for us to enter into the club. I sat at a table very close to the stage. The club quickly filled up with so many people, most of them seated at tables and the rest standing mainly by the bar & surrounding areas. We sat for a little over two hours listening to a dj's music, eating, drinking and waiting until the show began. First thing we saw on the screen were 2 music videos (Funky National Anthem & America) Sheila E. created for songs on her soon to be released cd called Iconic:Message 4 America. Everyone was happy to see these videos, they were well done with a clear message to America accompanied by Sheila E & Prince's funky music, lyrics & spoken words from Sheila & other famous people.Finally Sheila E. & her band which included 2 female singers arrived on the stage. Sheila E. sang a lot of Prince songs & her songs hit after hit, some songs one or the other backup singer took lead but there were so many songs, it was amazing and funky. People could not stay in their seats,( I know I didn't) we were dancing,clapping and singing along with her. There were a lot of us who were taking photos and videos of the show too. All the music, the solos from Sheila E. or one of her band members, the vocals and the acoustics EXCELLENT. Sheila E. even said ain't nobody funkier than her. Sheila E played the guitar on a few songs and she got off the stage for a few moments to be near the fans. I love her energy and her heart, she told all of us to turn around to a person we don't know and tell that person you love them. We cried with her when she sang Girl Meets Boy, her song for Prince, I could feel the love and the sadness as she sang. I was very happy to be at her show, Sheila is beautiful and amazing, she is a multi-talented performer who really knows how to entertain. I wish she could have stayed with us for at least another hour!!!
