Why would you go to a show just to get so drunk you don't even know where you are? Why do these people always seem to get a seat right behind me? The show was amazing. The orchestra was great. Both Bebel Gilberto and Seu Jorge interacted well with the audience, conductor and orchestra. The drunk behind me kept announcing the item on each new floor. Ha ha, I get it. Elevator music. However, if he was really listening, really appreciating, he would have heard some beautiful music on a perfect night at the Hollywood Bowl.

would have loved to see Bebel with a full band. The show was just her and a guitar player, which made it more sparse musically. It was extremely entertaining because she is a true professional, who kept the audience engaged with jokes and stories and general banter. What a wonderful voice she has!! I think some of the audience was upset because she spoke in Portugese for a good part of the time, but hey she's Brazilian!! I am a gringo and didn't understand a lot of what she was saying, but I thought it just made the show even more authentic. Would go see her show again anytime, would enjoy it even more with more musicians on stage.

Bebel seemed to be winging it. She needs a full band instead of just one guitar to make it more interesting. I've seen better artists locally for free.

Bebel is an outstanding performer. She knows how to put on a show, be sexy (yes, I admit it, and I went with my boyfriend!), sing audaciously and touch the crowd. Would see her again. The musicians were a bunch of talented individuals. Simply superb.

Bebel confirms that all things Brazilian begin with a provacative sway of the hips, that works its way up the body to a suggestive tilt of the head. She is a performer that seems to be genuinely pleased by the applause of the crowd, and she is every inch a performer. Bebel's music, and her informal interaction with the audience make you feel as if you are seated in a small Brazilian beach venue and that she is appearing before a group of family and friends. Tight back muscles began to relax, headaches disappear, the work week is official over, and she is a marvelous gateway to the weekend. She sang several of the cuts from her "Momento" album, including the title song and my favorite, "Bring Back The Love." All I can say is "Bring Back Bebel Gilberto."

Great musicians whose ability was lost in the concert setting of the Royce Theatre. Have seen her in a jazz club in Seattle and was totallly blown away. Here it was too formal... Maybe if I hadn't seen her in a club I would have appreciated it more... Forro in the Dark however was fantastic.....

Forro in the Dark, I love! I saw them few year ago, in Getty Center and it was MUCH BETTER!!! Bebel Gilberto, not big fan, but I am Brazilian and it is always good to hear my music!! I got out the theather after 4 songs......she looked very out of the tune, forgetting the words in the songs, interrupting the musicians...... total unbalance.....SHAME!!!!!

SAW BEBEL AT THE FONDA THEATRE IN HOLLYWOOD THIS PAST DECEMBER. SHE WAS AN AMAZING PERFORMER - SOUNDED BETTER IN PERSON THAN ON HER CD. SHE CONNECTS WELL WITH THE AUDIENCE AND WAS SO NICE TO MEET HER BACKSTAGE - SHE GAVE ME A HUG AND KISS AND I WAS REALLY ABLE TO THANK HER FOR SUCH AN UNBELIEVABLE EXPERIENCE.

I love Bebel. I listen to her music all the time and was very excited to see her live. I thought she sounded great and the band was good. But she was having difficultly with the sound coming our of her monitors. It seemed like just when things were getting going the whole band would get distracted by the sound problems. I will give her another try when she comes back to town. Hopefully she adds a few more songs to the set list to make the show a bit longer.

What a disappointment. Skipped the opening act because it was apparently just a DJ. Went down the street for a bite to eat and arrived back to the PW just in time to get the last two seats in the house in the right balcony. Not bad seats for this theater. Bebel came on stage and that's when things turned bad. She seemed uncomfortable throughout the performance. She had no stage presence. And worst of all she didn't seem able to sing on key. What's with that? I thought I would see some sultry Brazillian moves around the stage as she presented her songs but she seemed awkward and pretty much just tried to get the audience to clap along like it was a Hanna Montana show. I was reminded of what a work associate had told me about Gilberto's show last year...that she appeared to be less than sober onstage. I saw no outward signs of that but she was clearly just going through the motions unless this kind of performance is really all she has to offer. There was no vocal artistry to be see here.

Bebel, what a performance! Awesome! I'm sure her father is so proud to see her become such a wonderful performer and carry on the Gilberto name with pride! I took along my oldest son whose 27, He loved it. That being said, it's obvious If you're great all ages will appreciate your music! Thanks for a great show. I'll definitely buy tickets to see her again! I would have given it "5" stars had the opening act not been so awful! I don't know what they were thinking, that "DJ" was terrible! That was the worst thing I've ever had to endure, and I have 6 kids! We overheard quite a few people complaining about it at the bar. I'm sure we all bought way more drinks than we would have to drown it out. (Maybe that was their plan.) We were talking to a couple who left with their friends, a shame they didn't stay for Bebel. She did not disappoint! I even asked the front if we could leave & come back, but was told "no" because they had already torn our tickets. All that mattered in the end was Bebel was a great show! Thanks again!

When I bought tickets they showed cabaret tables and chairs on the floor. When we arrived it was standing only. no seats. We had to pay $20.00 to go up to the seats. We would have worn flats if we had known this. The opening act was lame. It was a girl on stage D.J.ing and mouthing the words to the songs she played. Bebel had constant sound issues and had to go off stage 2 or 3 times. When her stage speakers were adjusted the way she wanted them it totally messed up the sound for the rest of us. I love Bebel and would see her again just not at the Music Box.

My bf and I were very excited to see Bebel in Hollywood at the Fonda/ Music Box and we cheated and looked at reviews from other venues on the tour (which were in line with our experience). Doors opened at 7 pm, a dj played from 8-9 and Bebel was on from 9:30-10:25. The opening act was a lady dj and she pretty much sucked. No-one was dancing and she was just rocking up on the stage by herself. We came in around 8:40 pm because we read the dj was bad. Once Bebel finally got on people were excited. The band was minimal: drummer, one multi player (back-up vocal, sax, flute, and bass), piano/computer and guitar. They were playing along with the CD, but it ended up sounding very flat for a live show. There was a major lack of percussion, hello this is Brazilian music!! There were audio problems for a lot of the show, they didn't seem to work them out. The overall flow of the show sounded pieced together, the songs didn't really flow together, none of the players soloed on their instrument. We agreed that Bebel has a lot of talent, her voice is very good, but she needs some professional coaching in the dept of stage presence, program flow and audio mixing. The tickets were only $27, so we felt the price was equal to the show. We still love her music, but she needs some coaching

Bebel is our favorite Brazilian singer today and her performance was wonderful. However, we were very disappointed that she only performed for an hour before saying goodbye. The 15 minute encore helped, but her concert was at least 30 minutes too short, she left us wanting more, much more.

Except for an all too short set (1 hour) the event was unforgettable. One does not often get the chance to see a true singer, an artist of that caliber. She sang both some upbeat numbers and dreamy, Sunday-morning songs that sounded exactly the same as they did in the record. Overall, a magnificent experience. When she sang, I could not pay attention to anything else.

A cold winter's night in LA was heated up nice and toasty by this Brazialian Songbird and her talented groovin band. Great Energy coming of of every band member, and Babel's beautiful subtle alto smoothness pushed everything along w/ flow and ease. The audience was one sea of swaying smiles all evening long. The Henry Fonda Music Box Theater definately needs some work. Although sound was good, the ambience was a - 3. And 11.00 for a Ketel and Cranberry in a teeny tiny plastic glass was the rip off of the year.

I enjoyed most of the songs performed, especially Samba de Bencao. The drummer is very impressive. I can see how some viewers might not enjoy a show like this, because Ms. Gilberto is the type of singer that sings the song how she feels in the moment, and not exactly like the recording, but I enjoyed it and would come to see her again.

Bebel didn't come out until 9 pm, performed for one hour, plus an encore (one song was a previously sung song). It was hard to hear the vocal line amongst the instrumentalists. I think that with a change in venue that the concert would have been better. This venue with Bebel's music wasn't a perfect match. I wanted to hear her clean vocal line, which wasn't always there, plus with so much wonderful music that she has, the concert should have been longer. Also, what's up with audience members recording the concert? She wasn't too happy about it, neither was I. It was distracting and disrespectful to the artists.

Bebel and her band put on a great show in Denver. Talented musicians and her voice rose to the occasion overcoming poor sound acoustics or mixing. She has a great stage personna but too much of DJ Lara Gerin, over an hour, and too little of Bebel, about the same. Would see her again for sure.

Did not like the late start, not 8:00 as advertised but after 9:00. Don't like the cranked up sound level. Bebel is a natural! She's been performing most of her life and can turn a challenging show around instantly. This show was the first of the tour and her scheduled guitarist could not be there. The stand in guitarist arrived on only 4 hours before the show, but they were great together without any issues. There were a couple technical glitches, but again, Bebel has a great sense of humor and the performance was outstanding.

Very disappointing performance by Bebel Gilberto. She did not live up to her well known family tradition of fine Brazilian musicians and performers. The show lacked preparation, it was very amateur, poor lighting, last minute guitarist joined her and it was very obvious! Her physical appearance was careless, like she just stumbled off a plane and came in to sing! She spoke in Portuguese for a long while, making the incorrect assumption everyone in the theater spoke her native language, until members of the audience voiced "English Please!" Poor performance from a well known established artist than came in just to get her pay & go! Never again Bebel!

Bebel Gilberto is a talented performer who was in a difficult situation. She explained at the beginning of the concert that her regular guitarist had been refused admittance to the country and she had secured a last minute replacement who had flown in from LA. He was great but Bebel was not. Apparently, these events threw her for a loop and resulted in an unprofessional, sloppy, hard to watch performance. She pulled down the mike stand knocking all of her guitarist s music on the floor. She asked the audience to sing along to songs in Portuguese. She laid down on the stage and lazily waved the microphone over her head. She repeated phrases over and over. She may have been drunk. She drank red wine on stage. At one point, she began to speak only in Portuguese because she was in Ft. Lauderdale. She asked if Americans were upset because she was speaking in Portuguese. The guy next to us screamed YES! People were walking out in droves. When Bebel actually focused on her music, her talent and skill were apparent. Unfortunately, that occurred infrequently during the performance. Great venue and an amazingly calm supporting musician, but the show was a train wreck.

I was disappointed. She did not seem very prepared and I felt as though she realized it. I sensed that she forgot lyrics but scatter her way through some of the songs. Her guitarist was competent but very boring and did not transmit either energy or excitement to the audience. I was hoping for much more. I attended the last New York concert by Jobim and will never ever forget his charisma and joy as he played his music because he loved it, not because he had to.

Ms. Gilberto has very good vocal control and sounded pretty good at her Chicago appearance. But was not impressed. She was an hour late and only played for 61 minutes. Supposedly a flight delay, but what professional would cut the schedule so close? Thought it was a bit odd that she self-promoted her "grammy-nominated" song from the stage... just seemed a bit tacky. Would have been better if someone else tooted her horn. She liked to get the audience involved and said several times how she does it all for the audience, though rather briefly. Just good to know prior to buying tickets.

Bebel Gilbert has the worst attitide I have seen in a performer. She acts like a big dive but lacks the resume to back that up. Not really sure ehat inflates her ego because she is mediocre at best. She dies have a nice voice but her performance is stiff and she messes up on the lyrics of song. Her overall demeanor os strandoffish and she treats the audience as if they are bothering her and we get that feeling that her being there and performing is a big inconvience to her. Never I have felt that uncomfortable in a concert. She said the most ridiculous and absurd things which reassured my feelings that she is a total narcissit who doesnt care at all about the audience and coukdnt care less about whether or not you have a good experience. Dont waste a minute of a day or a dime of your money supporting this woman, she is bot worth it.

I've seen Bebel before, and this concert was not as good. She spent far too much time complaining about the audience talking and for people filming her. When people made requests, she said that her agent wouldn't let her deviate from her set list. On one song, she completely bungled the lyrics. I had high expectations but left very disappointed.

I was so excited when I learned that Bebel Gilberto was coming to town. I have bought or listened to all her albums, have even made my 16 year old son into a fan of her father and her. I speak Portuguese well and can understand all the lyrics and think she has a beautiful voice, which made me even sadder when I didn't get to hear that much of it. She was supposed to go on at 9, went on a bit later than that, then wasn't happy with the sound on the monitors and did a couple of half songs while she got that straight, and then tried to engage with the audience in a sort of choppy way, took requests, and then wrapped it up in a hour. She was accompanied by one guitarist, who looked a little perplexed by the erratic nature of her performance, and the fact that he had no perceptible set list. Somewhere in there were a couple of her best songs, and when she sang a whole song it was great. I usually see bigger acts in big venues with well-planned set lists that provide a mix of old and new stuff, leading to a strong climax and then an encore or two. This "set" (not an actual concert) meandered around, and then wrapped up quickly to give her time for the "meet and greet" in the incredibly drafty lobby of the theater (it was about 20 degrees outside) to get a CD signed. Who listens to CDs? It would have great to meet her but I had enough so we just scurried for the car.

Bebel Gilberto did a lackluster 60 minute acoustic set at the Kimmel Center on Feb. 14, accompanied only by a guitar player. Many artists will disclose that their tour or event is acoustic when the tour is promoted. This shows consideration and respect for the people who spend their money and time to support the artist, but might not want to see an acoustic set. Their was no full disclosure in this case. Very disappointing. Given the steep ticket prices and with no band expenses, Bebel must have made quite a killing for her 60 minutes. While the audience was courteous with their applause, I also heard grumbling about the lack of a band and the brevity of the show. If you're expecting a generous set list and a full band to bring the sound of Bebel's music to life during this tour, you'll be sorely disappointed.

Neptune Theatre Seattle February 20, 2015 I wish I had read reviews of Bebel Gilberto's concerts before I bought tickets. I love her voice and albums but would never recommend spending money to see her. You won't hear what you love and hope to hear. That's because the mix is so poor all you hear is muddy, undefined bass that wipes out any of the low mids in her voice, the piano and guitar. I moved around the entire theatre trying to find a place where the mix was hearable and lost out. We stayed for five songs and left. That was after speaking with the sound engineer and complaining about the muddy sound. He did try to fix it and it helped a little, but all he could address really was the boomy kick drum. The problem -- and Bebel is responsible as the band leader (get advice if you are not interested yourself in fixing the mix) -- is the keyboard player, who handles 90% of the bass lines for the band. He plays a bass set up that reminds me of the boomy, noteless bass that was popular for awhile with bands in the 90's. You don't hear a note, you just get a very broad bass boom. Her ensemble and her voice need a defined bass keynote. Instead, there is no bass note most of the time, just the subwoofer 20-80mhz "whaaaaooom" and the guitar, vocal, sax and toms all disappear. Bebel is a talented voice and seemed on key most of the time from what little we could tell. She didn't seem drunk like in other reviews (although she did trip over the drummer's setup exiting the stage once where he had blocked a side path with gear -- they stopped the show for him to replug in his computer setup and she eventually exited for a song). This is such a shame, since the players were dedicated and its nice to have a full band. But they all seemed subdued (perhaps the lack of leadership in sound craft is showing through). Her keyboardist in particular seemed fed up, and his bass playing showed. None of them ever get to solo. The guitar riffs seemed uniform and repetitive and lacked chordal interest, but honestly you couldn't tell much of what he was playing. But if I were playing for her and hearing that boomy disco bass blasting away all other sound, I'd get jaded too. Maybe she likes that boomy sound, it does hide a lot of faults, but its ridiculous. I checked out other reviews of the Neptune Theatre and generally people like the sound there, so this wasn't the venue's fault. I shine the light on the soundman who should be telling them it sucks out there, and on the keyboardist who should know better as a pro. I realize most people may not care as much about the mix as long as she plays the favorite tunes in some fashion. But if you have ears and love music you will be very very disappointed in this presentation. I surprised my wife with tickets for valentines and wish I'd taken her somewhere else. Really sad because we both just adore her sound on cd ("Bebel Gilberto") and know all her tunes, having listened non-stop. Bebel if you ever read this review, please send me your latest cds for free and we'll call it good! Total waste of money. And I don't ever write reviews. I'm not picky, just a musician with ears and a love for good music. Muddy bass obliteration ain't pretty. Read the other reviews. I'm not the first. Just the latest Feb 2015. Don't go!!!!!!!!!! Tommy

Good music, great performance on the stage, no grievances... However: This is a bar, not a concert venue, therefore some inconvenient details: Tickets sold with designated seat assignment, while only limited seats are available without row and seat designations. Half of the audience standing. Nothing warned me about this fact (i.e. come early as seats are on "first comes first basis") Too much noise in the back by some casual bar attendees. Huge TV screen behind the stage on the corridor with some "very important" college football game running all the time during the concert. Please, pay attention to improve the next concert experience! Thank you Bebel!

The concert was beyond any expectation. Once on the stage, Bebel was passionate, energetic and she absolutely wooed the crowd. Her voice was strong and beautiful. She connected with the audience. The only annoyance was waiting on her to begin the show...she came on stage at 8:15pm for a 7pm show. But she more than made up for this by her performance and non-stop music until 9:30. I have been listening to her music for 20 years, Aganju is one of my all time favorite songs, and she butchered it. What else? She could not remember the lyrics to Bananeira, and Momento was awful as she encouraged the audience to break into this weird clapping thing that went nowhere. I love her, she has a gorgeous voice and amazing talent, but I felt embarrassed and anxious during the whole show. She was either high/drunk or both. Off pitch, couldn't find the right key in Samba da Bencao, and she rambled and said weird things to her band between songs. Also, she threw stuff around the stage and pulled of her mic at one point and then scrambled on the floor to untangle it later. I had to walk out during part of the show, it was too painful to watch. Please get sober Bebel.

The Bebel show could be longer and the Forro shorter. I think the show could be better prepared with more dedication. But overall it was a good show. on the Forro performer, the sound technical quality was not good. I can barely understand what they were singing, and I speak the same language as them.

Most bands play well together and show superior musicianship individually. What really takes a performance to the next level is how they blend together. Bebel Gilberto and company have one of the best balances of sound I have ever heard. Sweet and funny, Bebel is a fine entertainer. I liked her interaction with the audience and stories between songs. My favorite moment was when she had the guitarist from the opening band play a few songs with her. When he though he was done, he sneaked off stage. She was looking for him at the end and scolded him for running off. He returned and finished the set with the rest of the band after she (teasingly) demanded he come back.

Was so very excited to see Bebel perform live and ended up walking out. We found it hard to watch her and out of compassion we left as not to continue to witness the spectacle she was making of her self. I am sure the folks at UCLA who hired her were very disappointed. Farro in the Dark was a lovely opening band and we will buying their CD. They had a great vibe about them and did their best to help her out during her set but even the guitar player walked off set! I don't know what is going on with Bebel but we do hope all is well with her and that she get's the help that is needed.

She was fun, sounded good. The performance was VERY short and she seemed (said) she was concerned about us getting home early. The venue is beautiful and sounded great but when a show (and a performer) wants you to get up off your feet and dance, it's a no go. It's a stuffy-person space. It's where people appreciate the music instead of FEEL it. There were a few of us who did get up and venture toward the wings to move, but fewer than 20.

She is an amazing singer and is a lot of fun to see on stage. She is a real entertainer. This isn't for someone who wants fast, energetic music. It is wonderfully relaxing bossa nova.

She arrived to the stage super-high, was out of tune and barely followed the Lyrics. It was a waste of money and time. Her lack of professionality was greatly disrespectful towards the audience. It was so bad that after the first 3 songs, I saw people leaving the concert. Unfortunately, I stayed until the end, hoping that she would get better.

Thoroughly enjoyed the show, Bebel Gilberto is a terrific singer. The Ogden could use a little help. Needs a coat check area, a little more seating available and the ladies room, someone needs to get in there and hose it down, smelled like vomit.

Bebel's albums are amazing and she has a wonderful voice...not so in person. She was over an hour late coming out on stage and when she did finally arrive she seemed as though she was in the middle of a major bender. Not sure if she was drunk or on something stronger but she could barely hold a note and it was surprizing that she didn't fall off the stage. Not only that, she played five songs, exited the stage and then came back on for two more songs and then left for the night. Her total set lasted for about forty minutes. I was so excited to see this show and it let me down big time. Really, really bad... i hope she sobers up for her next shows.

Bebel Gilberto was great! She was energetic and fun. She sounded wonderful. Her band was very good, too. She played a good variety of songs and included audience favorites. My only caveats are that she started nearly 1 1/2 hours late and the sound system was just average.

At Bebel's concert there was no open act, just a DJ who was playing some good music but then the music was turned down so low that she was the only one who could enjoy the music. Bebel did not get on stage until 9:00pm and when she got on stage she seemed out of source as she was high on something she sang maybe a total of four songs. Very disappointed!

After being pelted with an unbearably loud bass thanks to the warm up dj and then waiting an hour and a half for the 7:30 show to begin, I was really hoping for a fantastic show. Gilberto has a beautiful voice, the band was good and the selection was all favorites, unfortunately all of that was beside the point because of the painful mixing which caused her voice to be drowned out and we were left with a low level drone throughout most of the concert. I would have been disappointed that the show was so short (we waited for her to appear longer than she performed) except that it meant that the noise stopped.

The sound mixer did a horrible job -- way too much bass, reverberation & near feedback killed the overall sound. Bebel, who has a gorgeous voice, was competing with the bass for attention. I think the mixer's name was Eva. She was mixing for the wrong style of music.

The venue (Park West) has a night club setting....very nice and clean facility. I was there 30 minutes prior to the concert and was able to get a seat (chair) close to the stage. This ought to be good, I thought to myself, nice atmosphere, a good seat, and some smooth Brazilian Bossa Nova. A female DJ had set up a table in the right hand corner of the stage and played her music......hardly a warm up act for the crowd. I looked at my watch: 0729pm (Oh good, only 1 minute left) I got comfortable on my chair, directed my attention to the stage and got ready to be mesmerized by Bebel. Even though I'm not too familiar with all of her work, I still expected something great, especially when your dad is Joao Gilberto and step mom Astrud Gilberto. 0815pm.....still no main attraction in sight, and no one who is willing to tell the people, who made time during the week to come to Mrs Gilberto's concert, why they're still looking at a fairly empty stage. Finally at 0900pm, one and a half hours late, her band enters the stage and she follows 2 minutes later. No explanation during the introduction of the band why we had to suffer 90 minutes in our seats before she decided to come out. After about 50 minutes the show was over, I've heard one classic from her dad, which took me a while to recognize. The rest was in my opinion "middle of the road", and far from what I expected to hear. My verdict: I was very disappointed with the whole concert. PS: I still love my Brazilian Bossa Nova/Jazz, no thanks to Bebel.

The stated start time was 7:30 but Bebel finally sauntered on stage at approx.8:45! The previous hour or so was latin music from a dancing dj. Bebel made no apologies for the long wait. The sound was horrible with an extemely heavy vibrating sound from the bass drum. Bebel actually complemented the sound mixer! She sang for an hour and probably did an encore but we couldn't wait to leave. Extremely disappointing and a waste of time and money. If you want a great musical experience in this vein listen to one of the classic Stan Getz / Joao Gilberto live recordings.

I was very disappointed by this live as I was expecting so much from her voice. She played the last album which is fair but the band stayed only one hour on stage and did not really interact with the public. The public was not responding at all to Bebel Gilberto when she was trying to get a bit of motion. The sound was ok, but I was surprised to find out that the band uses recordings to play and did not change from the CD. You had better to listen very carefully at the CD at home with a good sound!

My wife and I enjoyed her music on CD and were really excited to see her perform live. The venue was great and we got there at around 6-45 pm for the 7.30 pm show. We secured great seats in front of stage. Sometime before 7-30 pm a woman came on stage with a computer. We assumed she was a roadie of some sort. Then she began playing music through the laptop and doing various gyrations of no particular interest. I was informed she was the DJ, and it was a sit-down event. It was horribly boring and went on for over an hour. Then there was a long delay before Bebel and her band showed up. much to the displeasure of the crowd. It was a really 'cold' atmosphere as a result and her first few songs were awful. She eventually warmed up and did some nice tunes before declaring it was over (about an hour). After a couple of encores that was it. It was a poor performance all around! As people have often noted, the Park West location is superb, but drink prices are overboard. Especially a soda (fountain) which was served for $4!!!

Amazing instrumentals, the sound was probably the best part of the concert, Bebel was pleasant but definitely did not connect with the audience. Concert was scheduled to commence at 7:30 - she came out at 8:55, took a 5 minute break at 9:30 and wrapped up at 9:55 Not even an hour of play? We waited longer than that...!! Felt ripped off. Too bad.

The concert was off to a bad start when we waited outside in the misty rain for 45 minutes just to get in. The check-in process really shouldn't have taken so long, but it did. Then once inside, we waited another 45 minutes for Bebel to come on stage. The ticketmaster event start time was 7pm and the show didn't start until around 8:30pm. Her first song was a favorite, but in the middle we were assaulted by horrible feedback noise from the microphone and the sound system never recovered. There were many disruptions during the next 4 songs. Finally, we got annoyed and left after about 6 songs. Very disappointed. I saw Bebel about a year ago in Boston and LOVED her concert there so I jumped at buying tickets in NY. But I'll think twice before seeing something at the Hiro Ballroom again...

Bebel was awesome. We hated to wait. Got there at 6h30 when the doors were opened. Got in at 7pm and the concert only started at 9pm. I didn't pay to go to a club and listen to a Dj, otherwise if there was a band playing it would have been more pleasant. Before going in we asked what time she would start, so we could have gone to a place in the same Hotel for dinner, but we were told she would start exactly at 7pm.

Babel was fantastic but the show did not start until 9pm. Tickets stated 7 pm and we arrived on time. She then played for less than 90 minutes. By 8.30 the crowd was visibly annoyed. There was also no opening act so everyone just stood there waiting. The music was very enjoyable but standing for 4 hours just to hear 90 minutes of music is a little disappointing.

Never heard of Bebel before, she was very entertaining, lots of energy and the music had rythmn and softness to it. I went with high expectations and was not let down. Bebel was in fine form but unfortunately her set suffered from some technical issues that were a bit distracting. Loved the music. Conductor Wilkins was a fantastic host for the evening. It is always fun to see the HB orchestra let loose a little. Gilberto had a very sexy sound and a little playful tease. Overall I had a great time. I'm sad Seu Jorge wasn't on more time but it was still fun. His voice is incredible and he sounded great and was very friendly with the crowd. I wish he would have done tive Rizao, my favorite song from Cru. Bebel Gilberto seemed a little drunk and I heard the same thing about Saturday's show so not sure if that's just how she is or if she was just drunk the entire weekend. Also her nater with the crowd seemed forced, not sure if the alcohol had anything to do with that...I kind of think the Samba dancers were unneccesary. Their dancing didn't even go with the non samba songs that were being played while they were on stage. That part seemed a little contrived but I get that that is what some people expect from a Brazilian themed night.
