... than a Shonen Knife concert! From the moment they walk on stage and greet the audience with their signature towels, the stage is full of energy. That energy extends to the audience and the whole room becomes one. Shonen Knife play songs drawn from their entire history of 30 years. From "Twist Barbie" on their first album, to "Pop Tune" on their newest, the band plays a tight, cohesive set. And their smiles light up the venue. You can tell the girls honestly love what they do - and the audience loves them back.

My review can be summed up in the three-word title: Shonen Knife rocks! Three small Japanese women rocked a stage better than many, many American rock bands I've seen live who are much more popular in the U.S. and more well-known. A little J-Pop and a lot of rock/punk makes for a fantastic live show! They could have played for another couple of hours longer than they did and I bet most of the crowd would still be there, headbanging and rocking out. Basic, primal guitar-bass-drumkit rock & roll with a little Japanese sweetness to spice things up. If you see them playing live somewhere, SEE THEM.

My music education has been sorely lacking since the Big Band era ended. This Osaka group and their lead caught me off guard. I loved it.

Shonen Knife have an incredible live show. You should see them at least once. This was my fourth time, and just as exciting as the first. They are also super-nice, after each show they go to their merch booth and sign anything and everything people want, and pose for pictures with audience members. See them!!!
