Of all the events we did during Elvis Week, the Sam Phillips Documentary had to be the best. Listening to "real" people after the film was priceless. I am all about seeing the people who really knew Elvis, and not the impersonators who try to make you think it's the same, or the video with some unknown band backing it. I thought I knew a lot about Sam Phillips, but was in for some pleasant surprises that I was not aware of. This was excellent and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to hear it like it was. The only thing I would have changed was to have more people talking instead of just one.

Having read both books on Elvis Presley by Peter Guralnick, it was wonderful to meet him. The documentary was exceptional and I can't wait until it is released to the public. It was just so wonderful to see something so real about Sam Phillips. Peter is presently writing a book about Sam Phillips and I look forward to reading that also. Having Sam's son Knox there was an added bonus. He has had some cancer treatments and kept apologizing for his speech......the Elvis fans who were present were so honored just to have him there to share some of his own memories of both Elvis and his father. It was one of the highlights of my trip to Memphis...
