Debi Smith

DEBI SMITH IN CONCERT:Debi Smith has been a folk music staple for nearly four decades, and she continues to enchant with her soaring soprano voice and uplifting songs on tour. The thrill of Smith's live performances lies in their stunning versatility. A multi-instrumentalist as well as a gifted singer, Smith displays complete control over her range of instruments, which includes a guitar and a bodhran -- an Irish hand drum that has become a signature component of her concerts. The impressive variety makes her shows wildly diverse and unpredictable, but throughout it all her radiant voice remains a constant.

The National Mens Chorus was basically fairly dreadful. About the same as an untrained high school glee club. Debi Smith, who has a beautiful voice, was WAY over-amped. That distortion was especially noticeable on the high notes. She doesn't need to be amped really at all, or certainly not anywhere near that much!

What a joy it was to listen to Debi and her sister Meagan sing some old favorites and some tunes we hadn't heard. They even brought mom, dad and Tom Paxton to the stage. It was a great evening.
