STS9

STS9 take fans to groovy new stratospheres with impassioned performances and a unique mix of EDM, jazz, and psychedelic rock. The group prefers building a vibe to showing off with flashy flourishes, but these rockers know their instruments -- each memberÕs instrumental prowess is on full display at all times. Drummer Zach Velmer and percussionist Jeffree Lerner combine acoustic and electronic rhythms to create a larger-than-life beat. Bassist Alana Rocklin gets heads bobbing and bodies swaying with her tasty, swinging basslines.

There were a couple of bands I had never seen before that played before Tribe. Ghostland Observatory kicked ass!!!! So did Bassnectar... but most of all STS9 sent me into a musical trance! MUST SEE. I had also never been to this venue before. It's a MUST to go to. beautiful area with beautiful people. I actually woke up today wanting to relive last night over again. STS9 puts on an absolutely spectacular show. You can tell they love what they're doing and it shows in how awesome the music is. The lights and video aspect of the show rivals that of NIN which is just ridiculous. Way to go whoever designed it. Overall, one of my favorite concerts ever. The wells fargo theater was a great place except for the fact that the security people took away glow necklaces and sticks. not cool. Sick ass concert though.

STS9 played a great show after coming on stage late in the evening. The crowd was alright a lot of young kids that had taken too much of one thing or another. STS9 made up for it with a great set list and some great new material that was a little darker then their normal routine.

Although the show at the Masonic was a bit undersold, the band never wavered in their artistic vision and intensity. Saturday's show was fantastic and contained a lot of newer songs heavily woven with classics. It made for a unique presentation of new material and kept things fresh for those fans closely following the Fall Tour. Sunday's show at The Fillmore was nothing short of an all-timer. The band and crowd were fired up and ready to go the distance. It was one incredible moment after the next. STS9 continues to push themselves forward and their dedication to their craft is received with great appreciation from their fans- new and old.

Having only seen STS9 once prior at the house of blues San Diego I had no idea what was in store for their new album release at The Tabernacle. The lights, the venue, the people and of course THE BEST JAM BAND AROUND left me speechless in Atlanta. Nothing can prepare you for an evening with Tribe Family let alone two nights in a row. While The Tabernacle was epic we were lucky enough to catch them for a 2nd night of getting down at the nearby Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre and boy was it worth it, an opening acoustic set with some added southern soul! I am so glad I did not miss this show. The tenth anniversary of STS9 playing at Red Rocks was seriously so incredible. All their songs just build so much & you could noticeably tell how much effort they all put into this show. They played one of the best Circuses I've ever seen & absolutely killed it with the set list both nights. Friday was definitely my favorite show of the 2 because it was more of their beautifully perfect jams but I definitely got down to more of their electronic stuff on Saturday regardless. Sound Tribe is simply one of those shows you have to try & make it to every year. Definitely one of my favorites without a doubt! Thank you Sound Tribe & thank you Red Rocks, you've done it again.

I've been seeing STS9 since 2000, and these guys just continue to get better and better every time. It's cool getting to see the growth that these guys have had since my first show (5 Points Music Hall in Birmingham, which isn't even there anymore) to what they are now. These two bands are both extremely gifted. This was my third time seeing sts9 and my first time seeing umphreys. The lights and sounds were magnificent and transported my senses into another beautiful turquoise shimmery world. Go see these bands, you won't be let down :) The venue was nice also. One of the hardest UM sets I've ever seen. Almost lost my head I was rockin so hard. Also was so surprised by tribe. I saw them a few times on their last summer tour and wasn't too impressed with the new direction they went. This tour, I can tell they just needed to test the waters last year and I believe they successfully found their new sound. I guess following UM it wouldn't be a good show if they played their older more ambient songs, but all I know is I was jamminnn and loved the heck out of it. This venue is awesome and ATL has so much love for both these bands, it was just a great atmosphere. Also, UM and STS9 collaborated on the light show so obviously that was incredible

This show was stunning. STUNNING. Guitar, Bass, Full Drum Kit, Bongos, all great, but when you add keys and samplers, it just goes over the top. They would strum out a bass line, sample it, then loop it while playing in harmony, with themselves from 8 seconds ago. This builds songs up and Up and UP!! Until they slam it back down with incredibly smooth beats. All this synced to a light show that would convince you that God himself orchestrated this as a pet project between creating cosmos. True story bro.

Sound Tribe puts on an amazing show and you should definitely catch an act even if you're not familiar with the music. You will spend your whole night dancing to the sweet beats and definitely make friends as the crowd is social/fun. Fox Theater is a beautiful venue and definitely great for any artist that likes to use lasers, fog, and lights. This show was AMAZING and can't wait for the next opportunity to see STS9 or to return to Fox. Tip: Take Bart to the the event so you don't have to deal with parking. It's fun to pre game and after party with the other concert goers :D

I luckily was front row and got to enjoy theatrics that come along with the psychedelic experience of sts9. The drummer is amazing to watch as he guides the band with heavy electronic beats, jazzy funk and other amazing genres. Combined with when they fogged out the stage and had the lights going through the fog where you could only see silhouettes made it look just unbelievable. Hats off to the light team.

I wasn't really into Ghostland Observatory and I was really only into the couple songs STS9 played at the end. 2 years ago I saw STS9 with Bassnectar at Red Rocks and it was such an amazing show. Bassnectar played during the intermission so there was never any downtime which was a huge plus. This show there was an intermission with nothing happening.

STS9 has long been one of my favorite live bands. I've been attending their Red Rocks shows since 2005. I have to say Murph's presence is missed, but the lady bass player had her own talents. Obviously, they are not as polished, but I give STS9 a solid B for the effort. There was one horrifying part of their show. When some other band from ATL, whose name I couldn't understand due to the poor effects on the mic, played in the sound booth during a set break. This, and I'm not alone in saying it, was the worst single musical performance I've ever witnessed live. I stood, jaw-dropped at how shockingly awful this "band" sounded. They seemed to be in their own world, however, as they were thanking the crowd for their support. The crowd did not applaud... at all. They were seated and shocked into silence by the freak sideshow that was clearly a favor someone owed to someone else...

Best 3 hours and 25 minutes of music I have ever seen. I have never seen such a dedicated fan base in my life. Not a single person was standing still during STS9s set. It was an endless groove that I will never forget. You have to see these guys live and preferably at Red Rocks, their go to venue. It was truly a religious experience.

I love the venue (red rocks) but I was hoping for a little more high energy, good/heavy drops, and party feel...it felt more like what I call elevator techno. Very jam-bandish with some electronic feel, a bit jazzy, but not quite what I was hoping for. Maybe next time...

I had seen the name STS9 a lot of places but never understood why. They didn't really have any music I had heard of and seemed kinda strange. I was sooo wrong! This group is so different and creative, great music you can just chill and jam to for hours. They get your energy flowing at some parts, and relax you at others. Great show, great balance. Go see them!

I have seen STS9 many times. This was my second time seeing them with Alana on bass and my first time seeing them at Red Rocks. I traveled a long way to see these two shows and they did not let me down, at all. The band, the venue, and the vibe was out of this world. I'm already planning my next show on the fall tour... I am a really, really big fan of this band. I have been going to concerts to see them for 6+ years since I discovered them and I travel FAR to see them. The concert venue is unmatched at Red Rocks. I am used to the band coming with at least 1-2 other bands to play before them and this time I was hugely disappointed that they didn't come with anyone. They did have Lazy Americans play between 1st and 2nd set= lame. This crowd was not the right place for these guys and their set-up was bad so they got little love. Between this L.A .band, not having any other bands play and the muted tone of the first night I was disappointed. The set on Friday was kinda chill but not worth going to. I did go on Saturday and STS9 played better songs and were more amped so that was exactly what I flew/drove far away from to experience! I miss having Murph in the band and hope that they get more bands to play at future shows. It makes the ticket price worthwhile.

I've seen tribe a few times, but had never payed for a show and had always left because they were meh. Let me tell you, this show was different. They absolutely killed it!!! The only reason I give it 4 stars was because RR's shitty beer made my tummy hurt...lol...but seriously.

The concert was ok light show was ok at best I thought they were going to play better music. I didn't plan on it being a hippy jazz fest, the music was boring it's not stuff you can dance to it's music you just wanna sit down and chill to, every one there was dancing I don't know how so you couldn't even just sit down and relax. My freinds and I ultimately left early disappointed. It was a shame that such a lame venue got a gig at one of the coolest places a concert could be at

I had never been to Red Rocks and this was by far one of the best experiences of my life. STS9 had an unforgettable set both nights and I didn't want it to end. Almost wish they could of started earlier so it would of lasted longer... man, what a night!
