I saw this revival of Anything Goes at the Warner Theater for the second time in D.C. in February, and I really enjoyed it. It had played with a different cast at the Kennedy Center about two years previously (that was an Equity show versus this non-Equity show.) Generally, I felt a lot of this cast was actually better than the KC cast, particularly in their dancing abilities. The shows were actually tailored to the stars, the Reno in the KC production was a better singer, the Reno here was a better dancer (she was probably closer to how the show was tailored for Sutton Foster when the revival opened in New York). I thought the men in this cast, lead and supporting parts, were pretty much better up and down the line (particularly the Billy and the Moon Face). The orchestra was smaller here, the set was almost the same, and there were fewer dancers in the chorus, but still very well done. The simple truth of the matter is, Anything Goes is a very entertaining musical, and with a good solid cast and production, you will have a very enjoyable evening at the theater.

Not knowing what to expect, we very much enjoyed the performance. The music and cast did a wonderful job. The only negative is sometimes the voices could not be clearly heard during quieter portions of the songs.

The dancing and singing were top notch! The stage was inventive, morphing with simple changes into the ship's deck, the cabins, the ship's stage, etc. The costumes were beautiful. But I couldn't hear the words to the songs when more than one person was singing.

We enjoyed it very much. Cast is very multi-talented in singing, dancing and acting. Was well worth the money for a Off Broadway Show in Tucson!

I am not always been impressed with these road shows -- the acting and singing can be shaky, the choreography and dancing un-together, and the sound unacceptable. However this performance of Anything Goes was fantastic -- worthy of a NYC theater. After a slow starting couple of numbers, the performers sang and danced their buns off. The lead Reno Sweeny (Sutton Foster? Would she really be on the road in Tucson AZ???) was brilliant and led the cast in an exceptional performance. It was wonderful fun entertainment -- nothing deep in this story, just boy-meets-girl etc. My only complaint would be the sound mixing: from where we were in row G the orchestra was too loud and the singing was too soft. But it was acceptable and the dancing more than made up for it.

Fantastic!! A good old' fashion, all American Musical, brought to life right here in Tucson! It must be very difficult to travel and perform as they do, day after day, but this group kept it fresh and lively! Great job gang!!

Anything Goes was a very good musical. All the actors were good but Rachel York was awesome. The sets were as good as you would see on Broadway. The Tucson Music Hall is a good venue in which to see such a show. I would definitely recommend this show and I look forward to seeing another one at the Tucson Music Hall.

The entire play was a joy. I can't name Cole Porter songs but I recognized most of the music. The voices were wonderful; the dancing terrific. The staging and costumes were wonderful as well. I loved the tap dancing. It just looks to be so much fun.

Excellent performances by all. To have the entire cast performing a complicated tap routine was way above most professional ensembles. Some characters were stronger than others as is usually the case even with the pros, but I did not detect any substantial flaws and I thought the leading characters and particularly the female chorus were exceptional. This should have been publicized more. I was impressed! I have seen virtually every major musical by many different groups from Broadway, travelling companies, and various amateur groups. This was better than many complacent professional touring groups and one of the best amateur performances I have seen. Congratulations.

Choreography was excellent. I was wowed by the dance sequences ending the first act and starting he second. The entire ensemble was really good, in particular the supporting leads. However, while I was delighted with Ms Stratton's dancing ability, I was less taken with her portrayal of Reno Sweeney. There was no blowsy attack to her acting or singing as a madame of some renown. Similarly, it was difficult to accept Mr Krinsky as the dashing player all the ladies fall for. I assume the two leads were chosen for their dancing and singing abilities because of the obvious demands of the show. While their dancing was superb, their interpretation of the lyrics lacked the "pop' that I believe Cole Porter wrote into the music. I would recommend it to a friend simply because one should experience Porter on stage, especially those great dance sequences. A final note: the lighting crew needs rehearsals as well.

My wife and I didn't have high expectations attending a two-day run of a musical from 1934 on a weeknight, but early into the first act, we were both enthralled! The singing, the staging, and the dancing were captivating; the cast was exceptional. I counted four whole-cast tap routines (including the famous "anything goes" interlude). It was a toe-tapping, knee-slapping awesome time at the theater. I highly recommend!

WOW, what energy in the dance routines. A great musical by Cole Porter with many of the songs being timeless and a story line co-written by P. G. Wodehouse is at its usual whacky self. A wonderful evening of entertainment.

The pit orchestra really drove the music and was worth the price of the ticket by themselves. The actress who played Reno had an amazing voice and the a number of the characters really sold the intricate comedy in the show. The choreography was clever and inventive but not over-done, and the cast could clearly dance.

From the opening notes, Anything Goes was more than we anticipated in every way. The orchestra was amazing. The actors outdid themselves from singing, to the complicated tap routines. The staging was well done on the intimate stage at the Fox. The costumes were beautiful and so right for the time period of the story. I would see it again in a heartbeat.

This play is as good as it gets. I read the reviews in the paper which were not to good especially when it came to the problems with sound, mics, etc., so I was gearing myself for a big letdown. I was truly amazed and in awe of the performance. It was great. The only disappointment at the Tucson Convention Center was the $8.00 fee for parking. when you pay over $100 for 2 seats parking to see the show should be free.
