To see Young Frankenstein and hear Mel Brooks live on stage in a beautiful theater like the Chicago Theater was great. To experience it in that setting gave me a glimpse in to what my parents experienced in their youth. Truly a great experience in a wonder setting listening to Mel Brooks and his stories "THANK YOU"

Seeing Young Frankenstein and hearing Mel Brooks speak (perform) for over an hour was an extraordinary experience.
New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark, NJ - Thu, Oct 15, 2015
Show started on time with a quick introduction of Blazing Saddles, then the film was shown on a 40ft screen with a very good sound system. We sat next to fans who knew and echoed most of the lines (note to big fans: Please don't do that--we want to hear the original actors). After the movie was over (a GREAT example of Mel's talent tho not my favorite work of his), Mel was interviewed by (I believe) Steve Haberman who was one of the producers for the recent stand-up documentary Mel Brooks, Live at the Geffen. Mel told stories of his career, his childhood, details about Blazing Saddles and the talents involved in its making--89 years old and sharp as a tack. If you have the chance to see this icon, don't miss it. We took our 20-something sons and they loved it. No surprise since we're all comedy fans in our family but--Mel Brooks is someone special.

The movie and interview with Mel Brooks was one of the best events I've ever attended. I do feel like the amount of money they charged for the "VIP meet and greet" was way too high given what little time we had. They ran it like an assembly line and Mel Brooks refused to sign anything. It was about 45 seconds a pair and it was just "take the picture and go". He was nice, but we paid almost $400 a ticket for that?

Mel Brooks, Back in the Saddle was amazing! Not only was it great to actually see Blazing Saddles on a big screen for the first time, everyone in the audience was into it. From the opening credits to the ending credits, people clapped for dialogue, said lines out loud and cheered. But the best part of the evening was actually getting to see Mr. Brooks in person, talking about one of the best comedy movies ever, as well as, many stories of his childhood and his career. I am so happy I got see him in person!

Not only did we get to see a classic movie in Blazing Saddles, but Mel Brooks sat for almost an hour and a half telling stories of the making of the movie, his relationship with the stars, and his inspiration for the film. Seeing the movie for the first time on a big screen was awesome (I was 4 when it premiered). I loved hearing hundreds of people quoting and laughing along with me as our favorite scenes/lines hit the big screen. An incredible time with a classic, funny man.

Thank you, Mel, for every single Golden Year you have been in show business making us laugh and being the very best at your brand of satire and story telling. Yes, this included a screening of Young Frankenstein, the very first Mel Brooks movie I'd ever seen, which aided significantly in the warping of my young brain (although I was well familiar with the 2000 year old man). And with all wonderful films, every time you watch it, you see something new, such as - WOW! Gene Hackman played the blind man??? I didn't know that the lab equipment was from the original Frankenstein movie set!! But the selling point for me was the opportunity to hear Mel tell tales of how the movie came to be, and of his life. Even being up in the "cheap seats" did not diminish the thrill of being there. Truly delightful!!

What a wonderful afternoon! Young Frankenstein is an amazing movie in its own right, but seeing in on a massive screen makes it even better. NJPAC is a gorgeous venue with tons ( I mean TONS) of seating, and the orchestra seats (Row L) were perfect - not too far, not too close. Watching this movie with a huge audience laughing together at all the jokes (and the collective anticipation at upcoming famous lines) was a joy! Mel Brooks came out after the movie and talked to the audience for about an hour - mostly just talking right off the top of his head, telling stories about making the movie with Gene Wilder and Phil Boyle, etc. He did take a couple of questions from the audience, which you could submit when you entered the theater before the show. Overall, this was a fantastic event that I would certainly attend again!

As many times as I have seen Young Frankenstein, it is a totally different experience when watching with 3000 people who love the movie as much as you do. The crowd applauded with each name as it appeared in the opening credits and seemed to laugh at the very anticipation of each joke. Mr. Brooks' wit is still as sharp as ever, and even as he told old stories that he has repeated over the years, they were told with an energy and enthusiasm that made them fresh. It was simply great fun and a memorable experience.

Sooo glad I sprung for front row tix to see the inimitable Mel Freaking Brooks! He's a treasure and it was great to see him still full of life and personality! I was glad to be so close and enjoyed his stories and action. Loved seeing the uncut version of blazing saddles, of course, but rough to watch at that angle. Also, wish it had been film instead of digital. Great decision to eat the buffet dinner. It was decent for the price, but well worth the ability to relax at our table watching the crowds coming in and standing around. We were up on the balcony in the entry way and popped down to get some merch, more drinks and snacks. Wish they had jujubes! What's a movie without jujubes!?!?!

Having grown up with Mel Brooks, in one form or another, from "Get Smart" to "Blazing Saddles" and beyond, it was wonderful to see this spry 90 year old bounce around the stage, telling his stories and jokes about making Saddles and of his career. My only regret was that I wish I had a closer seat and view (we were way up in the Left Balc). The movie was great to see (for the 100th time for us I am sure) , up on the big screen. Everyone clapped and yelled as the storie's principles appeared on screen, Little, Korman, Wilder, Kahn, Pickens, and Mel. The fun of Saddles is picking up on the in jokes and knowing your history of the movies "a Laurel and Hardy handshake, Fought Indians, fought drought, fought locus, Fort Dix - Remember when Richard Dix tried to take over the town, and of course, You do it for Randolph Scott! In all, I go see it again if Mel comes back to Boston.

It had been years and years since I last saw Blazing Saddles on the big screen. I was such a blast from the past. It was certainly worth the money to hear legend, Mel Brooks, tell stories of his upbringing in Brooklyn and his 7 decade career. He's still spry and full-of-life at 89 years old and that showed in his mini stand-up routine and then his answers provided to the moderator.

"The Schwartz Awakens" was an amazing experience. First of all, having the opportunity to sit in a beautiful theater like NJPAC and watch a movie with other Mel Brooks fans, laughing in unison, would have been enjoyable enough, but then Mr. Brooks came out to entertain us for more than a hour, energetically telling stories from his life and career, and fielding questions from the moderator and the audience. If you love "Spaceballs" .... and if you love Mel Brooks .... the experience will probably be worth it for you. The photo-ops in the lobby with actors dressed up as characters from the movie were a nice touch and fun to take photos with. Even at his advanced age, Mel is STILL Mel .... God Bless him!! Funny, sharp and bouncing up and down from his chair like a kid ... even with a faulty belt pestering him for part of his on-stage appearance! My only critique would be that I think Mel should have split his segment into two parts .... one before the showing of the movie and then an "encore" after it. Regardless, it was a fun day.

Mel Brooks is a legend in his own time... And I got to see him!!! What an incredible day. After watching one of his classic movies, Spaceballs, we were blessed with the opportunity to hear stories about his work with the cast off-screen, what it was like to try and convince John Candy to stop eating Snickers bars, growing up in New York raised by his mom. What an outstanding event! I have seen all of his live performances including Blazing Saddles (an utter masterpiece) and Young Frankenstein (another work of brilliance). My hope and dream is that he will one day re-release History of the World Part One. I will purchase tickets for myself, my family and all of my friends to see this one. Mel Brooks, if you ever read this, know that you are a wonderful part of this planet, you give us the opportunity to laugh at ourselves and each other without malice. Seeing Young Frankenstein on the big screen was amazing because there were so many little details you can see that you couldn't on television. I have seen that movie at least 50 times and I was laughing along with everyone else like it was our first time. Talk about timeless! The perfect ending was to have Mel Brooks come out and share his stories about that film as well as his others. He was as sharp as I have ever seen him and he is 90 years old. It is true that laughter is the best medicine both to those who are performing as well as those of us who are listening! These are the memories that you will cherish forever.

The venerable Chicago Theater is not known for movies but live-action work. Still, the beautiful auditorium was well-suited for this combination of film and live action. The day started with a slide show of Brooks-ian trivia accompanied by musical selections from the various movies he has helped bring us. When "Young Frankenstein" began, the crowd roared. Each member of the cast received an ovation and a thunderous ovation when Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder's names, then Mel solo, came up as the credits rolled. Each entrance by a character also brought applause. Each joke had the audience snickering, giggling, even laughing before they were uttered. As the closing credits came up, the audience rose to a standing ovation. I love watching classic movies on TCM and other channels - even ones I have on DVD. Knowing many others are watching at the same time gives it a communal feel. That pales to seeing a loved movie, like this one, on a big screen with a crowd of fans. Truly a group event. Almost immediately, the great man came out to another standing ovation. He started by talking about working with Gene Wilder on the script then went back to his childhood in Brooklyn when the James Whale classic came out. This led to a wonderful talk about his life from childhood to the war to the Borscht Belt days, Sid Caesar and "Your Show of Shows", the movies and meeting the people who are most associated with his work - such as Wilder, Kenneth Mars, Marty Feldman and, of course, Madeleine Kahn. Every story was hilarious! Not with punch lines but his marvelous delivery and his own infectious humor. And every one of them was 'just between us'. What's said in the Chicago Theater stays in the Chicago Theater. I spent a great afternoon with a true legend of comedy and show business. I couldn't think of a better way to enjoy a Saturday.

Mel Brooks is amazing!! What a wonderful event! We saw Young Frankenstein and then Mel Brooks came out and told us fantastic stories about his life and career and answered questions about the making of Young Frankenstein. It felt like we were sitting in Mel's living room and having an intimate conversation with him, one on one. Mel is so funny!! I have not laughed that hard in decades, literally! If you get the chance, see one of Mel's events.

I have always loved Blazing Saddles since I was a teen, seeing it originally on the big screen. It was so good to see it not only on the screen but I got to see it at Radio City Music Hall. The last time I even saw a movie at Radio City was even years before Mel Brook's Comedy Western. Those were the years long forgotten but Blazing Saddles has also stood the test of time. I didn't mind paying extra to see Mel Brooks talk after the show. It was so good to hear him talk about so many things in his life (his situations and the people who he worked with).

Overall, seeing Blazing Saddles on the big screen at Radio City Music Hall and hearing Mel Brooks talk about life and the creativity process was great fun. My criticisms are as follows: 1) Radio City was not equipped to conduct the full security check and have people seated before the movie started. More than half the audience missed the first 15 minutes of the movie. They should have delayed the start. 2) The Mel Brooks Q&A seemed rehearsed. Virtually the same thing was said on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. But at 90 years old, I wouldn't hold it against Brooks. It was great to see him, full of energy and having genuine fun on the big stage.

Have not seen Blazing Saddles on a movie screen in years. Still hilarious. Was great that the audience knew dialogue. Mel Brooks is a legend. Am still laughing after two days. Thank you Mel!

It's amazing how after 40 years this film can have an entire theater full of people laughing hysterically. Mel Brooks was amazing! He talked, answered questions, and was full of enough energy befitting a man half his age. This show is a must see for any Mel Brooks fan.

Seeing Mel Brooks speak live was a most memorable night. His sincere rapport with his adoring audience, the humanity expressed in his candid anecdotes, and his ageless timing and delivery--were all pleasures to behold. Mel Brooks at ninety years of age has more to offer the world than a retro-view of comedy, but instead brings forward a sense of humor that allows us all to appreciate our foibles, our flaws, and our collective humanity--where instead of joining a world of political correctness that ironically breeds less tolerance--Mr. Brooks' humor provides us a safe haven where we're all made equal through our shared imperfections. Mel Brooks remains a national treasure, and my personal hero.

Mel's interview was absolutely filled with his charming personality, theatrical professionalism, and the charisma of a true old hollywood, high society artist. The skill with which Mel Brooks tells stories is truly reflective of his incredible talent as a narrative artist. Additionally, there is nothin that can compare to the feeling of seeing a truly great movie in the company of a packed house of active and attentive audience members. Blazing Saddles is a masterpiece and Radio City is the venue to view it in.

The event was not publicized correctly. A Mel Brooks movie was shown followed by a Q and A with Mel Brooks. It was my assumption that Mel Brooks would do a performance. Turned out to be a very expensive movie ticket which I purchased for my brother and his wife for my brother's milestone birthday. I was disappointed and embarrassed when I was given feedback. With that being said, Mel Brooks is a comedian icon and it was on honor for them to see him in person.

Mel Brooks is timeless. Blazing Saddles is 42 years old and was still hysterical. There was no malice of thought just pure fun. Mel Brooks st 90 is as raw and true to himself and his thoughts. Thoroughly enjoyable

Its amazing to see a 90 year old still doing what he loves. He moves around like a 75 year old. He found the fountain of youth years ago, and it is humor.

From the start of Blazing Saddle the audience applauded when every actor came on screen as if it were a live show!! To Mel Brooks taking the stage and going nonstop. He had a moderator on stage with him, but if he sat for 5 minutes that was a lot. His stories are hysterical. Didn't want it to end.

Radio City logically needs to do security screening, but don't start the show on time if you keep people waiting on line outside for 45 min. Mel is funny but the canned stories were disappointing. He told a few of them two nights earlier on Jimmy Fallon Glad I went to show him my appreciation, but if he does it again for another movie I won't bother going.

First the audience got to see the movie Blazing Saddles. The mixed aged audience was laughing and really enjoyed it. Then Mel Brooks came out with a moderator and told the back story of this movie and other movies he was involved in. It was a fun night, full of laughs and intellectually stimulating. I encourage the promoters of this event to do others. Radio City was also a nice venue to hold the event.

He told the best stories and had us roaring with laughter. The movie was still as fresh and funny as when it came out. Of course, it could never be made in today's climate of PCness - but hysterical!

I'm a huge Mel Brooks fan, and I definitely suggest this show. It's was awesome to have people clap and cheer, and enjoy the show. What made it better was Mel stories about the movie and his career. Mel barely sat down because he was so engaged. An amazing person and performer.

This event was absolutely amazing. So much fun watching the movie with a giant group of Blazing Saddles fans. Mel Brooks himself was fantastic! He is a class act and it was obvious that he loves what he does and appreciates the fans. I could have stayed there for hours listening to him tell stories. I would absolutely go to see him again if I ever get the chance. I'm still smiling from it! The only disappointing thing had nothing to do with the show because that was awesome but everyone felt as if Mr. brooks was cut short and hurried off the stage and we were all rushed to clear out of the venue. He seemed like he was having a good time and we would all have loved to have stayed with him longer.
