Shawn Mullins

I saw Shawn in Athens at The Foundry in September...more acoustic setting. Didn't think he could get any better. The event at the Variety Playhouse blew me away! True art!! The musicians were EXCELLENT! and Shawn's performance, stage presence and guest (Chuck Cannon) could not have been better. It's a shame he isn't that well known...such an incredible talent!! Love him!!

The whole show was amazing... Shawn was in town Thursday, Friday and Saturday..if I could, I would have made all 3 nights. His new latest song has now become my favorite of all of his top hits. This new CD was a long time coming... 5 Stars on the new CD He sang for a long time......

Great artist, great concert, great venue. I would highly recommend attending a concert at the Duck Room, particularly with an artist as talented as Shawn Mullins.

Shawn put on a wonderful show, just himself on acoustic guitar and one accompanying guitar, and in this particular setting, a small room targeted for singer-songwriters, it was a memorable and mesmerizing performance. His passion for his music really shone through, he didn't just perform the songs, he brought them to life - you could really feel the emotion he put into them and the enjoyment he exudes when playing is infectious. The way he tells stories and explains where the songs originated from really adds to the overall presentation and makes for a very entertaining evening.

Shawn was the best live artist I ever seen! The performance was fantastic, and the Ark was a really cozy place.

Wonderful evening of old songs mixed with new favorites. The extra money spent for VIP tickets was not necessary as the room is so small there is not a bad spot in the house.

I've been a fan of Shawn for many, many years and have seen him in small venues and large - he never, ever disappoints. Once again, he had a phenomenal performance and the venue was very cool - it played well to Shawn's strength as a performer. He is and will probably always be my favorite artist - both excellent live and recorded

Shawn Mullins is an amazing musician, to say the least. Anyone could appreciate his talent no matter what their taste in music. His voice is smooth as silk and it's low hums and rhythms will lull you into blissful trance. I was utterly astounded by his mad guitar skills. It boggles my mind how he can create the sounds of guitar, bass and drums with just one strum of an acoustic. The richest, heartwarming sounds floated from the stage and surrounded me in a personal environment that made me feel like an exclusive VIP. I only wish the rest of the world would open their eyes and ears to the superb storytelling of Shawn Mullins.

Just saw Shawn Mullins at Shank Hall in Milwaukee, WI. Had the pleasure of seeing him for the first time last November after listening to his music for many years, and have been blown away on both occasions. He is simply an extremely talented singer-songwriter and an animal on his acoustic guitar! There is so much passion and soul in every song he sings, and is enjoyable to watch from beginning to end. Only wish it was longer - then again I could have listened for another 2 hours regardless of when he stops.

Shawn Mullins reaches up and reaches down, to heights and depths that are mostly forgotten in day to day life. He reminds us of our humanity and connects us to our divinity. Thank you Shawn. You seem like the kind of guy with whom I would love to sit around a campfire and share thoughts over guitars and crickets in the background.

Shawn Mullins was amazing. He is such an artist, not a gimmick. His song are like paintings they are so vivid with the story he tells. I was brought to tears several times. I love his raspy, powerful voice and the sweetness of his stage presence.

The Birchmere is great place to see a show. Very intimate and, as Shawn said during the show, people come here to listen to good music. Great, funny stories and great interaction with the crowd and his music is just incredible.

Amazing! 10 feet from Shawn! He was incredible! Had never been to Birchmere before, definitely the place to go for an intimate feel. Absolutely wonderful, only thing that could have made it better would have been to meet him!

Shawn never fails to give a great concert! The Birchmere is a perfect fit for him and his music. Just a really enjoyable evening listening to his songs and guitar playing!! Looking forward to his next visit in town-hopefully the Birchmere!!

I was impressed with Justin (first time I'd heard him play) and, as always, blown away by Shawn. Still amazed that he's not a household name. Can't beat the atmosphere at The Birchmere!

If you like Shawn's "Live at the Variety Playhouse" CD you would have loved this show. The play list was the same excpet for about four or five songs. Shawn played most of his hits and the songs his fans love. One great thing about Shawn is how clear he articulates the amazing imagery in his songs which allow you to really understand what he is singing about even the first time you hear a song. Shawn's comfortable dialogue with the crown and interesting introductions made the show personal. The band was spot-on and versatile. The played blues, country and they rocked.

I haven't seen Shawn with the band in quite a while. I was blown away at the talent and energy on stage. IMO, this guy is the best song writer of my time. Can't wait to see them again.

This is the second time I have been to the after Thanksgiving concert and once again Shawn Mullins and the band were fantastic.

A local favorite who does not disappoint. Great show with guest appearance by Zac Brown.

Another amazing Shawn Mullins show at the Variety Playhouse. The cameo by Zac Brown was a nice touch and it was well done. Clay Cook was great as the opener. I could go on and on...but I'll keep it short by saying if you have the chance to see Shawn Mullins....do it!

Alex Woodard is good, but when you then hear Shawn and his guitar, you understand the difference between good and great. Woodard is a bit too country for me. Again, he was not bad, but if given the choice, I would not see him again. On the other hand, if I could give Shawn a rating by himself, he would get 5 stars. His guitar playing ability and his voice are unmatched. Pure raw talent. I recommend everyone see Shawn.

This was the 3rd time that I've seen Shawn at the Aladdin. His is a perfect performance for the intimacy that the theater allows. Shawn gives the audience more than just music, he passes on the inspiration that made the music in the first place. If one is looking for a master of the Singer-Songwriter form, then it can be found in the personage of Shawn.

This was the third live performance of his I have attended. The shows get better and better. He has the most amazing voice. He also picks great openers, so don't show up late!!!

Shawn Mullins is always terrific -- but he was amazing at his recent show in Portland. Not only was his musical form top notch, he was personable and shared his stories through music and narrative. You felt like you were on the journey right along with him. Shawn should rank up there with the great stars. His voice and range are incomparable.

Daughter knew about Shawn, I knew Alex from myspace. Daughter became fan of Alex and I became a fan of Shawn . They both sing their heart. The message is real and their feelings are real. For the very first time I was without a camera!

Shawn always brings an incredible guitar performance coupled with excellent vocals. Shawn connects well with the crowd and performs his music/stories with a great deal of passion.

Second time we've seen him, and it was really, really good. Would definitely go see him again when he comes back to town.

Shawn Mullins played a beautiful show. It was even better than I could imagined. It was my first time seeing him. I was awed when he opened up with "Twin Rocks, Oregon" and he pleased me with every song, "Blue as You" and "Cold Black Heart" we also highlights. His demeanor was charming. I am still in love with his music

I dont really listen to this type of softer music but my wife is a big fan so i got us tickets and i have to say that the venue was great and both shawn and his protege was amazing on stage. Its really great to se an artist how both puts on a show and plays with feeling instead of looking bored onstage. Now we live in sweden so we dont get many chances to se him live but if we can se him again we will (especially if we dont have to travel 1500+ miles to do it :) ). If by any chance mr mullins himself reads his rewievs we just want to invite him to sweden. I dont really have anything to add except that everything from buying, paying and getting my tickets on site worked without a glitch (witch is kinda important when youre not from around), i would def recommend this to anyone.

so my husband and i drove to bethel from the new haven area of ct. to see shawn mullins for the 2nd time. we'd seen him at a lyrics for life benefit, in mystic,ct, about 5-6 years ago and within the first 5 mins. knew he was the "real deal". we got to meet him, after his gig at lyrics and also met ken block, of sister hazel... fast forward through some personal tragedies and onto a month ago when i learned he was playing on tour. i grabbed some tix and we are so very grateful for his performance, it was a gift to the audience and felt very personal with his usual wry humor and prefaces to songs as he tuned his guitar. my husband turned to me, during a song, and said,"i can't imagine a greater gift than your arranging for us to see shawn again." DITTO. shawn's phrasing and how he "turns a phrase" are incomparable. seeing shawn is a must for anyone who loves the singer/ songwriter. his voice is pure magic in its resonance and timbre. i cannot get "light you up" out of my head. i have sung it so many times that my kiddos now know the verse! :))

Recipe for a Saturday night: Take a pleasant autumn evening, combine with the initimate elegance of the Events Gallery at Bethel Woods, blend in Shawn Mullins and his amazing accompiantist from Augusta GA, sit back, allow to rise and ENJOY!. Shawn mesemorized, and dazzled, sharing his infectious joy and energy to the audience with fervant abandon for 2 hours. From the opening number to the last tune of the night, every song was both a lyrical and sonic delight.. I thorougly enjoyed this performance and would solidy recommnend to anyone who shares a love of roots based, jazzy, bluesy, yet unique meld of rock and roll.

I love Shawn Mullen's music, and i got to see him at an acoustic set show earlier in the day via a local raqdio station, KINK, he was worth not getting a seat to hear him, the venue he played at has great acoustics, but the general admission seating sucks sometimes as people place coats around themselves so no one will sit next to them and you assume the seat is taken, thus on a capacity or near capcity event seating is hard to come by, but standing next to the wall was ok for this act, and i enjoyed every minute

My baby sister surprised me for my 55th birthday present with soldout tickets to Shawn Mullins at the Aladdin. He melted us from beginning to end, he plays beautifully, his voice is amazingly beautiful. It was by far the best birthday I've ever had. The only thing that could have made it better would have been a birthday hug from Shawn accompanied with a personal autographed picture....maybe I can still get the autograph?? Thanks for a beautiful experience....can't wait to see you again! A summer outdoor concert would be awesome somewhere here in Oregon!!!

Shawn Mullins is exceptional; that was the first time I have seen him live & I was absolutely blown away - he put on one hell of a show- his voice melts you; he sounds even better live than on the radio

The show was absolutely fantastic. Shawn Mullins has been one of my favorite artists for many years. He interacted with the audience and was genuine in his responses, and as always his music was amazing.

I had never been to the Alladin theater before, and i was surprised how much i liked it. it was very cozy and i loved that i could have a beer while watching the show. Shawn was awesome. He played a lot of my favorite songs and was beautiful to look at too. I'm amazed that he could sing that well for that long.

Shawn is a craftsman of fine ballads and that is demonstrated in every song he does. What is also truly outstanding is the way that with a very simple production he, with his voice and guitar and one pretty kick butt guitar accompaniment can rock the room. It is also very special when he clearly has a connection and repore with people here in Portland and probably a lot of other places too.

Seeing Shawn Mullins live was incredible. The Aladdin was the perfect venue for him - warm while being just large enough. I loved the story-telling and acoustic format. His voice just rolls over your body like satin sheets. Can't wait to see him again!

It was a sold out show and the venue was WAY hot, but Shawn Mullins exceeded my expectations! I bought my sister tickets for her birthday and we had a great night. If you don't have his new album yet, GET IT. You won't be disappointed!

Shawn's voice was so pure. I had chills the second he began singing, and it lasted the entire show.

Mullins was great. the opener, a female with a brit accent didnt really hit the mark..folsom prison blues..cash is rolling in his grave..the venue harolds..avoid it..not organized..went early for dinner got turned away..the hostess could not/would not offer a nearby dinner place..couldnt get seating thru ticketmaster, couldnt get seating at the door, couldnt take advantage of 25-30 open seats during the show..loud drunks milling about not interested in listening to the show, aggravating..I'll have to catch his show again in a different venue.

Shawn's gig was awesome, intimate, and fun....what a great voice! The opening vocalist was great too!

I've seen Shawn Mullins perform in several different venues and he never fails to give an outstanding performance. My only complaint would be with Harold's...they were unorganized and the noise from throughout the bar was very distracting. But with all that said it was well worth putting up with to see this fantastic story teller.

Great show from a great songwriter. I've seen him in small venues, him, his guitars and his voice. He always play a wide range of songs from all his albums. In accoustic set, it's like having him just for you. Awesome gigs, a must see.

Great concert! Shawn Mullins is not only an amazing singer-songwriter you can't help but leave with the impression that he's a kind and thoughtful person. He connects wonderfully with the audience during the show and afterwards when he makes himself available for photo ops and autographs. The concert was a good mix of material from the new CD (which is awesome) and his classics.

Great songs performed with even more soul than the records. Shawn is funny and tells a story as humble and sincere as they get. He obviously still loves what he does and appreciates his audience. I am, however, still waiting to hear Cabbagetown live!

Mullins has a rich baritone/bass voice which blends beautiful with his solid full guitar sound! He is a great story teller and songwriter. Love his voice - he is awesome!!!!! loved his performances!

This the first time I heard Shawn Mullins live and the first time at the Ark in Ann Arbor. Both were great!!

Shawn was at his best. His catalog has grown to the point where every song in the show has you on the edge of your seat. His ability to command the audience with his brief stories between songs adds another dimension to the show. Technical wizardry on the accoustic guitar is the icing on the cake, and his voice has never sounded better. We brought friends with us that only ever heard "Lullaby", and they were blown away.

Excellent show! Got tickets last minute, but so glad we decided to go!

I'd go to every single show if I could. Hands down my most favorite artist of all time.

Shawn Mullins' Nov. 30th show at the Variety Playhouse was a tour de force show by a seasoned performer at ease and in his element with a very appreciative hometown crowd. The set was strong, varied, and did not stint on his hits. "Shimmer" was beautifully done, slow,plaintive, and heartfelt. "Beautiful Wreck", a personal favorite, felt a wee bit rushed, but was still outstanding. I am the type of person that, when I attend a concert, I want to hear the songs the performer is famous for. I didn't hear a single song I recognized for probably the first hour, but it was all so excellent that it didn't matter. The band was tight and talented. And opening act Max Gomez was a real find - I expect to hear much more from this impressive young singer/songwriter/guitarist. If you have a chance to see this show, by all means do! I would go see Shawn Mullins anytime, but it was especially enjoyable seeing him in this relaxed, funky, and comfortably mid-sized venue.

In addition to the talents of Shawn Mullins, we were treated to the fine musicianship of Chuck Cannon and Tom Ryan! What a show! I had never been to Duling Hall but I will definitely see other shows there in the future. The acoustics are fabulous and the room so intimate, you can't go wrong buying tickets for a show there.

From the moment Shawn Mullins took the stage, the show was on! He was awesome. He had a new playlist and I really enjoyed the "new" songs.

This show is always outstanding. Shawn's stories are great and finding out how songs come to be is really entertaining. Michele Malone opening up was awesome too! I'll be back next year!

When I watch the passion that Shawn Mullins puts into his work, one thing comes to mind, "Ain't it a blessing to do what you want to do!,

Played all of his best songs but one - "Something to Believe In." Also, don't like House of Rising Sun...don't get why he likes to close with that one. Great show.

Went to the Uptown Theater in Napa Ca to see Shawn Mullins and Roseann Cash...the hightlight was without a doubt Shawn Mullins...Roseann was "ok"...but even she said that she was moved by Shawn's performance. Shawn knows how to get the audience going...he told some fun stories...and he has a real engaging stage presence....my wife and I came home and looked up his upcoming concerts and are seriously considering travelling to Georgia to see him again. Soon! I hope the Uptown has him back as a headliner.....I'll be there!

It happens every time he steps on a stage, whether with a full band, just with Patrick, or all alone, Shawn Mullins "Light You Up". Shawn is in a very elite group of "singer song writers" who can flip thru his creative arsenal and deliver his message across all genre. He can rock, folk, rap, and almost smooth jazz (the jam toward the end of Light You Up) and keep an audience focused on the music for as long as he will play. Thanks again Shawn...

Awesome show...well worth the round trip 14 hr drive. Great venue! Intimate with good sound.

All of it was great. The venue was welcoming and our seats (toward the back) were still close enough to see very well. Both Shawn and his opening act were wonderful.

Unbelieveable concert. Best I've ever seen him! I wanted it to last for days....too bad it couldn't have.

Shawn Mullins never fails me - always an amazing show, but this one was even more awesome than usual! Newcomer and opening act Callaghan was perfect - we loved every song and want to get the CD. The duet with Callaghan and Shawn was beautiful! And Shawn and his band totally rocked it out. The song selection was a great mix of old and new. I truly didn't want the concert to end! Variety Playhouse was great too - not too crowded, great bar. Loved it!

Shawn and his band performed with excellence; he's got some amazing musicians playing with him. The songs were perfect and his stories between songs were funny. Just a very entertaining guy. And his warmup act, Callaghan, just blew me away.

Simply amazing!! Probably one of the best singer / songwriters of this era. It's truly a privledge to see an artist at the absolute top of their game. A 5 star rating doesn't do justice to how good this show was. I've seen Shawn Mullins with his band a few times now and they just keep getting better and better. You see one of their shows and think it just couldn't be better and then they come back and top it the next time with some new song or twist on an older tune. You know it's a special night when you hear people around you saying things like "Oh my God" and "This is Amazing" during the course of the night. Shawn is one of those artists that actually sounds better live than recorded. I've got a couple of his CD's and enjoy listening to them but the studio recordings just can't capture the full power, passion and emotion he puts into a live performance. Additionally, he has a phenomenal band. I've seen a lot of bands in a lot of shows and although there are more famous musicians, I can't think of any that are actually better. These guys are are all exceptionally talented. The acoustic solo by Patrick Blanchard on " Cold Black Heart" was truly amazing. Also, Dave Causey tore the house down with several electric guitar solos (on "Santa Fe" in particular). Anyone that thinks they are just in for a mellow, acoustic folk concert are in for a real suprise. These guys rock! Also wanted to take a moment and say a word about "Callaghan" who opened this evening for Shawn. She's a singer / songwriter from the UK who has been working with Shawn for a year or so and she was really, really good. She played a 30 - 40 minute set and actually captured the full attention of the crowd. One song in particular that she played solo on piano (sorry don't remember the title) pretty much had the entire house wiping tears from their eyes when it was over. Very moving. Definitely worth it to go see her if you get the chance.

We came all the way from Sweden to take part of this event.....and what can i say....YES, it was worth the trip, Both me and my husband LOVED the show. Thank you Shawn!!!!!
