the sea and cake have been around for a long time now. they ain't just some kids trying to look cool. the music is good. i was particularly taken with newer song, "harbor bridges" and of course the old tearjerker, "parasol".

I highly recommend them to anyone who has not seen them. They put on a great show, which I have seen many times. The Brighton Music Hall is well run and I would not hesitate to see almost any show at this venue. For this show Doug McCombs of Tortoise sat in for their Bassist (Eric) who was unable to show up last minute. (Seeing Doug play with them was amazing, actually!)

A great band and a courageous, engaging performance were ruined by the worst audio I have ever heard .

I will be the first person to say that The Sea and Cake is a great band. Their style is very unique and their sound is original. I think they are an extremely tight sounding band on their albums as well as live. For some reason, I just wasn't blow away. I guess it was exactly what I had expected (which is good) but I wasn't blown away. This is a very well trained, technical band that performs very well and I don't know what else to say other than, show was pretty good. As for the crowd - Their seemed to be some extremely excited fans. (Again, this is good) It was a treat for all of us to see this band that doesn't come to NYC very often so it was a crowd that was very pumped.

I can't for the life of me understand how a band can be as consistently good as the Sea and Cake and have such a poorly attended show. They once again demonstrated their originality, talent, and energy in a truly memorable show. I feel very fortunate to be able to see such a game changing band in such an intimate venue. This truly is the golden age for music devotees, but not for hard working musical genius. The Sea and Cake will influence popular music for decades to come.

I ve been a fan for about 10 years now and their music really stands the test of time for me. I am absolutely thrilled every time they release a new record. Their sound is utterly unique and intimate, which is one of the many reasons I love this band. They played at the Brighton Music hall, which is quickly becoming my favorite venue to go to for shows. The sound was fantastic, very true to their studio sound. I loved how Archer was getting really into it with his leg kicks and it made the show even more enjoyable! They were nice enough to play a request from the crowd which was "Afternoon Speaker." The setlist was great. They played all the songs that I was hoping to hear. Can I also add that John McEntire is a beast on the drums! Overall it was a fantastic show, very intimate, just how I like it.

The venue was small so it was a intimate setting though the acoustics/sound quality was amazing. The Sea and Cake rocked and, having never seen them before and only discovering them recently, I would definitely recommend checking them out.
