EELS

EELS Concert Schedule and TourWith their highly anticipated 11th studio album hitting shelves in 2014, Eels continue to carry the torch for funny yet emotional alternative rock. Packed with clever wordplay and eloquent observations about the comedy of life, songs like "Novocaine for the Soul" and "Your Lucky Day in Hell" garnered the band a serious cult following in the '90s, and nearly 20 years later they've lost none of their incisive wit. True to form, Eels' 2013 shows featured several encore fake outs that saw them repeatedly return to the stage after the crew had begun to breakdown, with all signs pointing to more shenanigans on their 2014 world tour.BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:Formed by singer-songwriter Mark Oliver Everett, a.

I must admit that I went to the show in hopes that I would see Steve Perry. :0) Though I was disappointed that Steve was not there, I was pleasantly surprised at what a wonderful and fun show that the EELS put on! E is a character and definitely gained a new fan that night! I will go see them again any time they are in my area!

I've seen eels many, many times before, but they have always been club shows with GA standing. This was the first time seeing Mr. E and band in a seated venue, and it was an absolute stunning evening of music. With the more subtle chamber pop songs from eels' most recent album, this was the perfect setting to hear the surprisingly intricate arrangements. This was the last night of the North American tour and Mr. E said he had that hanging over his head, but he and the band came through in a big way. After a full set full of new and classic material, the THIRD encore featured a guest vocalist by way of the band Journey, Steve Perry, who sang a mini set including an eels' song and three Journey covers. What an incredible end to the show, and the U.S. tour. Can't wait 'til next time.

Went in with five friends -- I was the only one familiar with the music (and only from listening to one CD). We all agreed it was the most fun we had had at a show in ages -- excellent, excellent dancing -- really imaginative and unpredictable music. Did a cover of Summertime that was nothing short of brilliant. Even the slow stuff was alive -- no dreary droning.

I was surprised how much hard rock / heavy metal music was played. I love the majority of the Eels songs, which are far more mellow than anything they played. We had to walk out because the heavier stuff was painful to listen to.

Everything was perfect about the eels performance- the appearance, behavior, music, mixing, set list, lighting, crowd, energy, etc! There were some minor problems before and after the show, however- the opening acts weren't so great, the facilities rushed to clear us out, and the facility had its air conditioning on too much :(

Eels put on a show as oddball, fun, and endearing as could be expected from their awesome music. My one qualm is that they didn't play enough of their songs I have loved for years now, instead sticking mostly to items off their newer albums.

The Eels were incredible. I wasn't too thrilled with the rock 'n roll ventriloquist. It was like Sesame Street for adults, and adults don't need Sesame Street. Jesca Hoop was a great opener. Although the lineup was completely different from when I first saw them 14 years ago, Mark Oliver Everett has gone from great to incredible! The show was very different, but in a very good way! They are entertaining to a larger and more diverse fan base from when they first started out. Great job!

Incredible show at a great venue. E and company are born entertainers. He melded his honest and introspective lyrics with the upbeat pieces for the total Eels experience. Plus, his banter and obvious pleasure with the fans brought the event to a personal level. One of the best-ever concerts in 20+ years of concert-going. We came almost 100 miles for this one, and will do so again when he's back in town.

Eels are always good. I guess the main problem here was the setlist and the venue. E has a large back catalog to choose from, but didn't play many highlights from key albums. It was mostly from his new trilogy, which to be honest is only mediocre. Nothing from the seminal Electro-Shock Blues and only one song from his opus, Blinking Lights. And Terminal 5 is way to huge a venue for this band. Eels are kind of a niche band, playing a 3,000 capacity cavern-turned-music venue does not complement the band's aesthetic in any way. But the band was lively and tight anyway.

2nd time seeing the Eels, first time at the Royale (w/cheese) in the theater district of Boston. Love the Royale as the sound and sight lines are excellent, especially from the balcony. Mark (E) is an artist, period. But, his band are some righteous bearded dudes who can stop and stop on a dime and are extremely accomplished musicians, one and all. I see roughly 50 shows a year, and this one will be in the top 3 this year. Great songs, great playing, great venue.

I'm not sure what I would say about the two openers...mostly because I had no idea there were openers so I had no time to prepare myself for a rock ventriloquist and ...jessica hoop. But Eels blew me away. Mr. E sounds exactly like he does on the albums..the only difference was the speed. He had a great stage presence, great voice, and his performance was worth way more than we paid. I'm satisfied! my only complaint was that every single tall person in the Boston area showed up to that concert and got infront of me, I swear XD

E and the rest of the fellers performing as EELS did a bang-up job. Sound at the Roxy was also really well-done. Fuzzy guitars, bruising bass lines and some very snappy drumming. Not to mention beards. To compliment the very beardy E, all other members of the band sported some impressive facial hair and sunglasses. E's showmanship was subtle, clever and just what I wanted to see. The songs played were a great mix of the all-time faves (rearranged!) and the newer singles from the past few albums. Really sweet night that I will remember for some time.

I only gave them a 4/5 because their last two shows were probably 6/5, so I had very high expectations for this show. The past shows I went to were MUCH mellower, sit-down events filled with calm inner-reflection. This show was pretty much the opposite. The dudes ROCKED. The audience (primarily ages 30+, there were a minority of us in our 20's), wasn't really quite sure what do to with it for the first half of the set. However, the mash-ups and re-vamped classics that are the Eels as well as a few redone and revived covers kicked it into gear and the crowd started moving and shaking for the second half of the set. Dancetastic. Or head-bobbing-tastic, if you're not one for dancing. Mr. E and The Chet did it once again. They stole my heart.

typical e...you never know what a show will be like. i've seen 3 different tours and each time he's a distinctly different person and each tour reflects his mood at the time.. one thing for sure, he doesn't pander to the audience, he does what he wants and i find it fascinating to see where he is at the moment. he's an acquired taste in concert.

To say the Eels played to their strengths is an understatement. The expanded lineup that included E, The Chet, Knuckles and a rare appearance by Cool G Murder, facilitated a reproduction of masterfully written songs that more closely resembled the recorded versions. Real cool guitars, sun glasses, hats and beards were in abundance but the songs and their delivery was the piece de resistance for me, Eels were a tight unit that sounded is if they have been playing together for a very long time. They covered most of the popular songs in their catalogue and even threw in a Lovin Spoonful cover (Summer in the City) that was timely given the day s 96 degree temperature. If you missed Eels you missed a really good show and you ve no one to blame but yourself. Great Show!!

The EELS show was fantastic!!! He rocked the National with mostly his newer tunes like Fresh Blood, Prize Fighter but also switched around abit with a few of his older songs like, I like Birds, and Dog Faced Boy! E wore a white jump suit and Cool C Murder on bass and Knuckols on drums and he did a song also...well on Knuckols!! Ha! I would much rather listen to Live performances like this than the Recording Studio Finished Product. Too many people think Music should sound like the Records the Artist produce and they are 2-different Birds!! The EELS put on a great show and The National Theater in Richmond is a good place to listen to Live Bands and will be seeing more of them there!!!!!!

A great, great, show. Played songs from the most recent two albums, and a couple from the album due out later this month. Also did a great cover about halfway through the set of "Summer in the City", just awesome. The back-up band was very tight, and all looked so cool in suitcoats and beards! Was lucky enough to catch one of the popcicles tossed to the crowd by E, towards the end of the show. Only complaint: Only two encore songs! Venue was very nice also. Cool place to see a show.

The eels always change it up for a tour. This time around it's a classic rock band setup with E on lead guitar/vocals supported by rhythm, bass and drum kit. The songs were clean and tight, with very little lead in. E was relaxed and in good voice. This should be a great tour!

I was a little disappointed with the show. I saw the Eels a couple of years ago when just he and Chet performed and that ranks as one the all time best shows I've ever seen. I liked the Eels before that but that tour a couple of years ago cemented my love for them. Now, that is why I think I was a bit dissatisfied with this show. The venue was cool. The Galaxy but the song selection and line up didn't exactly turn me on. The arrangements were too jumbled up and (I know this will reveal my age) but too loud. They're all good musicians but hard to tell last night. I know it was a warm up show but I hope they do something a little different when they come back to LA. Not very creative like that last tour.

This was my first show at the Apollo. I really loved the venue. The staff was very welcoming and the place is gorgeous. It felt amazing to be in such a historical place. I came for Chelsea Wolfe and considered staying around for EELS even though I was not too impressed when I checked their music out prior to the show. I ultimately decided not to stay because I was disgusted with their fan base. I have never seen worse show etiquette. They kept talking throughout Chelsea's entire set. Some of the conversations were so loud I could hear the entire conversation and could have joined in. This was a mostly acoustic set, which makes talking all the more rude. I know often the opener gets the short end of the stick, but Chelsea Wolfe is not some little band just starting. This was a theatre show. Showing up midway through and set and getting out of your seat several times to get drinks is messed up. The most aggravating element of the poor behavior was the age of the EELS fan base. Its pretty sad when people well in to their forties can't behave at a show and get called out by the band for talking. Chelsea, Ben and Andrea deserved better. I know for a fact they played a shorter set than was intended, so thanks EELS fans. Its disappointing when you pay $ 65 for a show just for of rude bunch of middle-aged people who should know better talk through the entire set and upset the band. Chelsea, Ben and Andrea played a fantastic set for a crowd of undeserving children.

What a treat! Before the show my friend and I were going to get some soul food. We walked past the back of the Apollo theater and there was mark (e)! We said hello and he couldn't have been any nicer. He even allowed a couple of old fans to get a photo with him! Fresh feeling was my 2nd marriage wedding song (perfect lyrics for that occasion!). The set list was on the calmer side which was wonderful. He has such beautiful melodies. His humor continues to be perfect! The boys in the band are classic musicians with exceptional talent and fun! Grace Kelly blues, line in the dirt, fresh feeling, mistakes of my youth, where I'm going, were all great to hear! This live version of I like birds was probably my favorite. I will continue to go see the eels any chance I can! He is a true artist. Thanks for keeping your ticket prices affordable for the common man! It means a lot!

I'll start off by saying that the opening act (a creepy, moody, band) was a total downer and not at all what I was expecting to hear at an EELS concert. But, The EELS' performance was fantastic, Mark Oliver Everett's vocals are wonderful live, and singing along to old favorites was a blast. Not to mention they did three encores and the last one featured STEVE PERRY!!! Now THAT was a surprise! I don't even care how awful the opener was, that was a fun concert!

The Eels are an amazing band that I've loved and grew up with. It was amazing to see them and to hear different renditions of my favorite songs. E's lyrics are unique in the music world and give a lot of heart to his songs. Amazing. Would have been one of the best concerts I've seen, but then it turned into something even more special. To be fair, I went to go see The Eels. I'm not a huge fan of more popular music, so I was sort of on the fence about what happened next, but then I realized I was watching a moment that would be seen as potentially historical, and being a music fan, I felt very lucky and very special to be a part of it. When Steve Perry (former Journey lead singer) hit the stage and did a few songs at the end, it was bewildering, amazing, and wonderful.

The Eels concert at the Fitzgerald theater will forever be a memorable night. The music was beautiful, as always, and E offered more of his playful humor! Just saw the Eels perform at the House of Blues in Houston, Tx. Show was amazing!!! It was a seated event in a intimate venue with plenty of ambience. The Eels performed many of their new songs off the recent cd- "The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett" as well as several songs from their older cd's. The mood was set early by lead singer "E", as bummer songs. But he quickly changed the mood on some of the older acoustic songs performed in an upbeat mode. The band came out for two encore presentations ans lead singer "E" was engaged with the audience throughout the show. All in all a very enjoyable night with the Eels!!!

I have seen 4 concerts by the EELS. For one of those a few years ago we actaully drove to Austin, Texas, to see and hear. Of the 4 shows this latest one at the House of Blues in Houston following the release of his new CD, "The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett," was the best for me. Mark Oliver Everett and his small group of outstanding musicians staged a show that any fan of Mr. E will love. First, the House of Blues venue is intimate, the sound and lights we great, and it actually has places to sit (no more concerts at warehouse type venues for me). Plus, there are several bars around the place to purchase drinks without wasting time standing in line. But back to the EELS; Mark Oliver Everett is a true genius. His music is deeply personal, melodic, complex, and sincere. His performance is flawless, professional, and enjoyable on every level. The set list included songs from his new CD as well as songs from Daisies of the Galaxy and a couple from even further back. In an age where many things that pass for music and entertainment actually are neither. Mark Oliver Everett is the real thing.

We were up front, the sound was superb, and the band played flawlessly. They played their new album in its entirely and had some very natural banter during the transitions. My two requests are to hang around for autographs and play some more of the older tunes. No Novocaine for the Soul? No way! Super time, though. Back in the late 90s, when MTV2 used to play videos only, the Mark Oliver Everett creation known as eels had a few "hits" in heavy rotation. His/their first single "Novocaine For the Soul", had the right amount of angst and ethos. It was anti-grunge musically, but shared the same melancholy spirit. It was hopeful and downright cynical all at once. The video, shot by director Mark Romanek, was as captivating and beautiful as the song. College radio loved the track and, for a moment, it appeared Everett, aka, E, was on his way. Then things took a dark turn. His sister Elizabeth (after suffering from depression for years) committed suicide. His mother died of cancer shortly thereafter. During and after the turmoil he began to cope. He put pen to paper and wrote his second album, Electro Shock Blues. The album gave an unblinking account of the dark moments surrounding his beautiful mind. And the mind is beautiful. E's father is noted physicist Hugh Everett III. All Hugh did was originated the "many worlds interpretation of quantum theory." His work at Princeton was first dismissed as irrelevant and scientifically unsound. Years later those same theories were embraced and treated as revolutionary. E's stories have been documented both in print (his autobiography Things The Grandchildren Should Know) and on screen (the brilliant BBC documentary Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives.) Should you be disinterested in the music of E, those two works are captivating in their own right. For the amount of heartbreak, tragedy, and abject melancholy that has defined E's life, he somehow prospers. Electro Shop Blues, while dark in spots, also had its moments of joy. Last Stop, This Town is downright whimsical and funny. The shit was getting real up in here. E took it all in stride and saw hope in an otherwise bleak life. The record was enough to make me a lifelong fan. It was around that time I first saw Eels live. Then I saw him/them again. Then again. And again... Each tour has its own vibe. Will he cover Missy Elliot this time? "Get Ur Freak On" Will he tour with strings and play in his pajamas? "Trouble With Dreams" Will he play a song(s) from Shrek? His fingerprints are all over that series: here "My Beloved Monster" Shrek scene or here "Losing Streak" from Shrek or here "I Need Some Sleep" Will he rock your socks off??? That answer is always an emphatic yes. Sometimes it's gospel: "Looking Up." Sometimes it's a bluesy and vampire themed: "Fresh Blood." It's always original. It's always exciting. E is a God of Alt Rock and we should all be worshipping. In a packed Webster Hall last Friday night church was in session. And although many in attendance were more concerned about their own conversations and, more specifically their drinks, the smart ones in the crowd were treated to another killer performance. E leaned heavily on his cheery 10th record, not ironically titled Wonderful, Glorious, during the nearly two hour show. The new material has plenty to offer. "On the Ropes" is a charming tale of hope. "Peach Blossom" is a straight forward rock tune. Then E threw in his usual curveballs. Take the Fleetwood Mac cover "Oh Well". This ain't your Buckingham/Nicks Fleetwood Mac mind you. This is blues rock with ample cowbell. This tour has E bringing the guitar. The Chet, now with E for 10 years, and P Boo helped make this song a highlight. Shortly after this hard rocking tune E and The Chet renewed their "vows" to the tune of Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings." In other words, it was a typical eels show. Expect the unexpected. Ventriloquists might open the show. Clowns might come on stage before the show (and certainly during the encore!.) E will likely mention the wrong City during his often acerbic and comical song breaks. He may also yell at hecklers, albeit mostly with tongue in cheek. He will hug his band mates. He will embrace his audience. Kris Kristopherson wrote something years ago that describes E quite nicely. "He is partly truth, partly fiction, a walking contradiction." Rock star as anti-rock star. An introvert in an extrovert world. A pessimist with an optimistic point of view. Mark/E/eels always leave you wanting more. Friday night was no exception. The alt world and blogosphere might bow down to new releases from 90s staples My Bloody Valentine, Garbage, Green Day, Dinosaur Jr and the like. For my money eels is the best thing to come out of the 90s. All other talk is sacrilege.

To start, the opening act was very interesting. It was a clown (Puddles The Clown) singing sad songs with a very good voice, but in a artistic way. He did three songs. On the second song a girl with a monkey mask, fishnet stockings, and a polka-dot dress came out with banana's. This was very entertaining yet odd. The following act was Nicole Adkins. I never heard of her, but she was good. Finally, the Eels came out. They were amazing! Way better then I expected... The lead singer (Mr. E) had quite a sense of humor throughout the night. He was funny as he hugged all the band members throughout the show. The band seemed to really get joy out of playing. There were many unique and original moments during the show. For the ending they had two encores. After, the light came on as people started to leave as usually. Suddenly, loud music starts, we turn, and the Eels are back shoving their crew off stage. This was by far the greatest part as Puddles the Clown joined them for their final ho-rah. My only disappointment was the we didn't hear them play "Novocaine for the Soul". But, overall the concert was amazing. We had a blast. I would definitely see them again, hands down!

What a fantastic show! There were two opening artists that were definitely worth showing up early for, and I craned my neck around to see an expansive ballroom brimming with a refreshingly diverse crowd. Eels definitely did not disappoint. Yeah, they played mostly their new album, and a lot of fans may or may not cringe at that, but the band's contagious enthusiasm totally made up for it. Eels was called back for two encores, then when half of the crowd was out the door, they come back out for a third encore. People came pouring back in to the standing room and stayed with the band until the venue started cutting off instruments and microphones.

My first Eels gig and my first gig outside of the UK. The band were tight, the vocals fantastic, sound was good and the service at the bar was spot on, very efficient. With a bit of wit, a reasonable amount of man love and a bunch of brilliant tracks, I had a grin on my face from the start right through to the end of the 4th encore. Great gig one of my best ever.

This was my third time seeing this wonderful band, the other two being a few years back at Town Hall and Irving Plaza. Coming off a difficult week at work, seeing the boys work their way through their set filled with a great combination of new and old favorites was the perfect pick-me-up. Mark Oliver Everett is a fantastic showman and great anti-rock star, mixing charisma, humor and just the right amount of faux "cock rock" bravado. On several occasions, after a particularly rousing performance by one of the bandmembers, he would declare, "give me a hug" and the two would embrace and then back to the "lead vocal riser" he would go. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and will see them every time they pass through the Big Apple. The crowd was into it, cheering wildly and devotedly. It was also a calm group, save for one boozer who was so drunk he fell to the floor twice, never spilling a single drop of malted beverage.

What a beautiful night of music! Starting with Chelsea Wolfe, an ethereal beauty, with a hauntingly celestial voice, I was captivated by her, and her music. While I couldn't make out many of her lyrics, I got the feeling she was singing about something dark and deep, and I left the show knowing I will be looking into her music more. Kind of electronic, while folksy too, she didn't have a whole band, just her with her guitar, a violin player who hit great vocal harmonies with her, and a keyboard/guitar/effects guy. It worked. Now, on the E and the EELS. One of my long time favorites for many reasons, too heavy to discuss here. Dressed in suits, which complimented the beautiful Orpheum Theater, a fantastic group of musicians took the stage. Opening up with a version of "When You Wish Upon A Star", which really set the tone of the night, they played an incredible set of mellow, soul searching songs about anguish, pain, and loss that E himself was making fun of for being such a bummer, and for taking bummer to a whole new level. A collection of new material, and older gems that took me to levels of joy and despair on all accounts. This is not to say that the show was depressing in any means, E was in rare form, cracking jokes, telling stories, he even came out into the crown to give out hugs, He made his way up the center isle, out into the lobby and back down the side isle, receiving much love and respect form the admiring fans. Very cool E, I know that wasn't easy for him. He picked up the pace with a rockin' version of "I Like Birds", and whether it was planned or coincidence, it was cool how the lights went mostly green when he played "My Beloved Monster" (you know this song from Shrek). Closing the set with 2 new songs off of The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett album, E dispensed with the "encore charade" and came right back to the stage for not 1 but 2 encores, the first being 3 of his classic songs, and the second being 2 cover songs, Elvis Presley's "Can't Help falling In Love" which was just incredibly done, and Harry Nilsson's "Turn On Your Radio". After that it seemed the night was over, and that would have been a great night even had it been over, however, the night then turned EPIC, when E returned for a third encore, bring with him the one and only Mr. Steve Perry! And the crowd goes wild!!! Steve Perry came out for his third appearance on this EELS tour, which were the first times he had taken the stage in over 20 years! Leave it to E to be the one who made this incredible event happen. Steve Perry was jovial, telling stories and not missing a beat, singing first an EELS song that he felt a deep, painful connection with, as do I with the song called "It's A Motherf#%er". Hearing him sing that song, it sounded like it could have been his own, just beautiful. Then they did abridged versions of Sam Cooke's "Only Sixteen" and Journey's "Open Arms" Steve Perry's voice is better than ever, and it was a very rare treat to see and hear, as he broke in a full version of "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin", now, those songs he had already done at his other 2 appearance with the EELS, taking nothing away, they were remarkable, he closed the show by singing, for the first time in 25 years, Journey's "Lights". Telling the story of how the song was written in Los Angeles, it was one of the greatest vocal performances I have ever been blessed enough to witness. The crowd loved him, he loved the crowd, there was a magical feeling in the air. Was an honor to be able to witness this legendary night of music, thank you E for all you are and have done for us, you have no idea of the magnitude of which you have positively affected my family!

A powerful show from start to finish. They played the best of the new and old, plus the songs that even the lightest fans may recognize (My Beloved Monster and Novocaine for the Soul). Loved the cover of Sly's "Hot Fun in the Summertime". E was as fun, stylish and charismatic as you would imagine. He expects a lot from his band and they deliver. Two great encores. Thank you sir!

This was my first Eels concert and what a ride! Although the Newport is small, E and the gang rocked it hard. I was surprised to hear so many oldies but it seemed fitting at the end of a trilogy....like an echo of the journey. The biggest suprise and most moving moment was the encore with "It's a Mother F*cker" ans PS You Rock My World. I loved loved loved the crowd hugs that E gave and that he took time to sign an auto graph. The band sounded great despite a glitch with guitars and cords. Class act by a class band! Loved it!

This was my 6th Eels concert and I've never seen the band look more alive. Those who know Eels know that it's E (Mark Everett) and an accompaniment of talented musicians. They all seemed to be having a great time. E himself was smiling during or after many songs. Because they were having such a good time, the show was incredible. Arguably the best Eels show I've seen. This years show had an incredible horn section, 2 great guitarists, E, a bass player and drums. Great Eels classics and a couple great covers thrown in as well. If Eels ever come to your area, do not miss the opportunity to see them. Their live performance, although short (under 2 hours), is not to be missed.

I finally got to see my favorite band of all time... EELS. The venue was killer. A cool little spot nestled away in Orange County, the Galaxy Theater. It was really cool to stand in line and sit with other EELS fans who had their own stories to tell about how E's music has influenced their life. The opening act was just about the worst thing I've seen in my life (a horribly perverted and not at all funny ventriloquist), but once E came out... his music changed my life. Again. The show can only be described as utterly stellar and breathtaking. I had an absolutely amazing time, knew 90% of the songs being played (just didn't know a few new ones from the upcoming album) and had a seriously awesome view. Almost every song I'd wished to be played was played and E never stopped, which turned the Galaxy Theater into a huge wall of gorgeous sound scape . He started small, then went big, then went low, then went high - playing a lot of songs off the recent End Times and Hombre Lobo, but not forgetting to pay homage to Beautiful Freak, Daisies of the Galaxy and Souljacker. He came out for an encore and played two songs from Blinking Lights... I was in awe the whole time. EELS are playing again in October at the Henry Fonda theater and I suggest you get tickets and go.

Tight two-hour set by a stripped down Eels quartet. E, The Chet, Big Al, and newcomer Little Joe.came to play and didn t disappoint. (No Knuckles, no Butch, no Kool G Murder, no P-Boo) The song list was mostly from the past (many with typical Eels concert alternate arrangements), with some of the new songs mixed in. Great show with the usual witty insights from E. I try to never miss this band when they re in town.

The first time I saw the Eels with MC Honky ranks as one of my top ten concerts of all time. Hearing them with an orchestra set up only made me want more from a first time experience at the Apollo Theatre. The hugging in the aisles I will always remeber. However, it barely lasted an hour. For the money, I would expect at least a longer show. I want the full orchestra show at Radio City someday and would pay for it but they have to make it worth it.

The entire time, I was waiting for them to play 2 of my favorite Eels songs. Their most popular, "Novocaine for the Soul" is one of them. Not only did they not play this song during the show, but they didn't even play it during the encore. We were screaming for them to play it. They also didn't play "Beautiful Freak" which is another awesome song of theirs made super famous in the movie, Shrek. Those 2 songs were the main reason I bought 2 tickets!! Seriously, they need to think more about their fans and what their fans want. I bet they're tired of playing those 2 songs, but it's what I came to the concert to hear, so was kind of disappointed. Great concert other than that!

The Eel are flat out amazing! The venue was gorgous the sound clear and crisp, oh and Steve Perry showed up to sing a few oldies but opened with an Eel classic"MFer". The Eels stilled owned the night, crisp play and those amazing lyrics kept the crowd swaying/singing along. I can't wait until they return but they might find a less droning opening act.

I try to see the Eels every time they are in Los Angeles. I love that you never quite know what the show will be like. This most recent show at the Orpheum-an incredibly beautiful venue, was on the more somber side. There was the full band that has been with E for some time now; they are great and can play a ridiculous variety of instruments. They wore suits, there was a light fixture above the stage reminiscent of old style filament bulbs with similar bulbs on the back wall, most of the songs were from the most recent album. I admit to being totally biased. If this was your one and only Eels show then you may be thinking twice about going to another one. Being an Eels fan is a journey, a bit of an adventure. Personally, I love being along for the ride.

This could have been the best Eels concert yet, and I've been to 5 other performances over the years! These guys just seem to be getting better and better. The songs come quick and are so tight and beautiful. E was in top form with his quick wit and driving musical genius. A ton of songs were played (of course we wanted more) but the cherry on top was bringing out Journey lead singer Steve Perry for the final 3 songs! The audience went wild. E even came down and started hugging everyone! So fun!

Another wonderful show by Eels. You could tell they were having as much fun up there as was the audience (even with the "bummer" songs). As for E, what can I say? He is a musical genius. First off, Eels is my favorite band of all time. Mr. E overwhelms me with emotion in his lyrics and music. This show was by far one of my favorites.
