Tracy Chapman is incredible, since she put her feet on stage I really enjoy that. Before her there was an other excelente singer . The unique unconfortable happened was between both, long time to start the presentation. How I bought floor tickets I get stand up for long time and when Tracy came I already was with my legs tired to be there, really tired and I m not old. But her perfect voice, music and all her sweet personalite did me keep watching the show.

My first time seeing Tracy Chapman in concert will not be my last. Her stage presence, the sound and the band combined for an incredible night! I would have loved to get some pictures but DSLR cameras were not allowed (they should be).

So, I am not in a writing mood, so I will keep this short and to the point. Tracey Chapman is awesome. Her voice, in person, is every bit as amazing as on her CDs. She plays instruments beautifully, and her personality and connection with the audience is, in a word, charming. She gets an A. HOWEVER- Her guitarist seems to hate her. His sound was too loud, and he often seemed a beat behind the rest of the band. I kept finding myself thinking that I just wished it were Tracey and the keyboardist. That would have been perfect. Now onto the House of Blues Boston- Major FAIL!! Not sure that I will ever see another act here. First of all, you can only get food from a waitress, of which we saw ONE the entire night! And that waitress didn't want to deal with it, so she simply told us they were out of food. So we just watched the people on the level below us munch happily away. Next, the bartenders....SLOW!! Not only slow, but they charge whatever they want for drinks. My 2nd time up, I went to the beer guy to get my 2nd PBR listed at $6. I gave him a 10, and he gave me $2 back and said "I appreciate it". I looked at him quizically and he gave a smirk and walked away. The concert was general admission (SRO) by floors. We were on the mezzanine. Luckily we got there early and got a good spot on the rail right in the center. But had we gotten there any later, there was no way I would have been able to see a thing. If you are more than 2 people back on the mezz level, you are seeing NADA! And they definitely sold enough tix for it to be 6 or 7 deep up there. So to sum it up, wait to see Tracey in an intimate, theater setting. I am sure that would be more of what you are looking for when going to see such a great performer.

Lines everywhere, to get your tickets from will call, to get into the HOB after you pick up your tix, to get a beer at the show...... This is definitely not the old school HOB we used to know: fun, funky, and free for all. It is alittl etoo clean and roganized to be quite as much fun as we know an HOB can be. As for Tracy, the show was short: 90 minutes total: she was absolutely fabulous!!! it was a great show, she played a couple of covers, and some her older classics (which were great to hear) and some of the stuff of her new album...basically was great to see her. I would have prefered it if she had been allowed to play for longer. I am not sure if she wanted to get out, or if the HOB shut it down, but a longer show would have been much appreciated

The concert was unforgettable but we stood up for 4 hours. The show's start time was 8 PM. There was a very long opening act and then we waited another 40 minutes for Tracy to come on stage. She came at around 9.20 PM and sang non-stop until 11 PM. The venue was a large bar with 2500 people inside and no place to sit.

Wow, I got tickets to this for my Dad - for his birthday. And I guess it was a gift for myself too. Tracy was INCREDIBLE! She talked with the audience a lot, shared some intimate stories, and really BROUGHT IT in terms of the performances. She sang a lot of old stuff, and a few new songs. And the finale - Proud Mary - was such a fun way to end it. I'm still singing Tracy Chapman songs in my head - and I bought a few of her albums that I hadn't owned before. I left with such a great feeling... and it hasn't gone away.

Tracy Chapman's show was unbelievable. With every year she's been out there she has improved. She was personable, and spoke to the audience about her experiences in Boston and on her latest tour. The one drawback was having to wait a very long time for her to come on. Doors opened at 7pm but she wasn't on until 9:30. Otherwise, excellent show. A multitalented performer (playing drums, guitar, a BOX, and singing), Tracy continues to astound her audiences worldwide. I loved it.

I have loved Tracy's music forever-the idea of going to Boston to see the first show of the tour was breath taking. She is a kind, wonderful lady who embraced the audience with her quiet charm and tipped the house upside down with her soul filled delivery of old and new songs. The House of Blues is a great place and Tracy certainly made us all feel at home with her homecoming. The cheers from the audience and the mix of the audience represents what Tracy sends out in her emotional but focused delivery- She cares about those left behind and forgotten, the war, the condition of world and each one of us. The only thing that could had made this better was to have my foster daughter meet her in person- Shan is her #1 fan. This young lady with disabilities has overcome many difficult times in her life and Tracy would be her #1 fan, too. We would have flown to the West Coast to see her and Not been a bit disappointed!

This was not only my first concert at House of Blues but also the first time I had seen Tracy Chapman perform live. The venue was great and in an ideal location with good acoustics - essential for live music. Chapman's talent was outshining on the night and was accompanied by a very humble demeanor and a profound appreciation that people had actually turned up to see her in concert in the city she once called home and allowed her to hone her songwriting talents....while at the same time studying at Tufts University and busking outside the COOP in Harvard Square. A strong solid performance from a seasoned and consumate entertainer.

This was the first date in her "Our Bright Future" US tour, in Boston at the House of Blues (an exceptional and intimate venue). She's just back from a European tour, and she reveled in being back here in Boston. She talked about her songs and her experiences a lot more than I remember from a previous tour. She and her band of three other performers played many of her classics, but some excellent new material as well. The set was well arranged, with a mostly rising energy from the beginning including some mellow material to some real bluesy material to some high-energy rocking -- she ended the encore with "Proud Mary" which she nailed. Some of the concert versions of her classic songs were stunning (some surprising takes on those songs), revealing a lot of growth as an artist and as a woman since her days on the streets of Boston "a few years ago". I've been a huge fan since her first album; if you love Tracy's music, this is a must-see tour.

The opening act, Gabby, was quite good but definitely better suited for an open mic or smaller venue. Then we waited for 45 minutes in between acts for Tracy--I was not pleased to say the least. However, once she came out it was worth every minute. She spoke to the audience like old friends and performed her best songs along with some newer ones. Her energy and musicality was incredible. Good show!

I loved Tracy's music in the 1980's when her first album came out; she's just as solid a performer now.Despite her gentle demeanor, Ms. Chapman rocks. The mix of old favorites and enticing new songs was well staged. A simple stage design and few bells and whistles made the perfect backdrop to her powerful voice and meaningful lyrics. I think she played at least five different guitars (as well as hand drums and the harmonica). The only downside to the concert was the painfully long wait beween the warm up act and Tracy's entry to the stage....about 45 minutes, way too long. But I forgave her all that by the time she was halfway through her first song. It was wonderful to finally hear her perform in person.

Tracy Chapman is undeniably one of the most intelligent songwriters around, and she has such a down-to-earth personality resulting in a casual yet polished, rock solid performance. From behind her gentle humility she delivers powerful social commentary with incredibly innovative arrangements, grace, and humor. I've never been disappointed. The old favorites are as superb and relevant today as they ever were, and her ballads can move one to tears. She has resonance and soul beyond her years, and she still looks and acts like a shy 20-something just breaking into the big leagues. At the same time, she belts out commanding confidence. The numbers done a la "dance mix" are a blast. I can't say enough good things about her.

Returning to St. Paul's O'Shaunessy Auditorium for the second time in five years, Tracy Chapman gave a performance that no one there will soon forget. The intimate theater, with its wonderful sound, was a perfect venue for Tracy''s rich and passionate voice and her wonderfully meticulous 3 piece band. Throughout her 90+ minute performance, Tracy injected several songs from her new album and made them all sound like hits. At the same time, she breathed fresh life and emotion into her back catalog. Even more than on her studio recordings, Tracy in person performs songs are felt as much as they are heard. Based upon their enthusiastic reception, Chapman's incredible talent, integrity, strength and tender spirit left the nearly sell-out crowd even bigger fans than when they'd been two hours earlier. A beautiful singer-songwriter named Gaby Moreno opened the evening with a wonderful 6-song set. Originally from Guatemala, Moreno sings both in English and Spanish, accompanying herself on guitar. The crowd's response grew in enthusiasm with each song. By the time she left the stage, she had earned many new fans.

Her mastery of guitars, stringed instruments, and percussion instruments is always amazing. This concert she added a very soulful harmonica. Her singing goes from soft to concert hall rocking. She is very hard to classify musically, but what a treasure she is to our country. She still comes off somewhat shy when speaking to an audience; how endearing from such a World renown Artist. She writes, speaks, represents, sings so many thoughts, feelings, words for her fans. It is always my pleasure to be in her presence.

I am 30 years old. Never really listened to Tracy until recently I heard some of here more popular songs. Went to concert alone to see what she was about. Was not expecting what I got, which was one of the greatest performances I have ever seen. What a talent! Different song types almost every time, 5-6 different guitars, harmonica, interesting box drum style. All this while singing with a voice offering precise oration and words filled with insight, reflection and hope. I cannot use words to acurately explain my experience, but would recommend this show to anyone, any couple or person that wants to see what a gift a talenting musician can give. Thanks Tracy, Steve Minneapolis

What an Awesome concert. The sound was just amazing. The only thing that soiled the whole night was a really drunk, loud mouth girl who sat behind us, and the sound guy, who could not find his seat until half way through. We were luckly as we got to move 4 rows back from the front. But i felt bad for the others who were stuck with the loud mouth. But the sound was just amazing. I saw her several years ago at the same venue and she was awesome then too. I last saw Tracy many years ago in Dallas. Her concert on August 18, 2009, was all I could have imagined. Her voice was great, and her band was excellent too. Tracy sang just about all of the favorite oldies, including "Fast Car," "Give Me One Reason," "Talking About a Revolution," "Baby Can I Hold You," etc. And she mixed in a good dose of songs from her most recent CD, "Our Bright Future." Tracy seems quite shy, but she even talked a little bit more, which was charming. She seemed to enjoy the audience's enthusiasm to her and to her music. Her encore included "Smoke and Ashes" and "Proud Mary," a cover that I believe Tina Turner would have enjoyed! Great venue by the bay, great voice, great night!! Please come back to Dallas, Tracy!

Lucky kayakers, boats sitting at the dock! They got an excellant show to enjoy. We got front row and would do it all over again. Her humble, small band played great and they all know, this is Tracy's show. They never upstage her. Loved the box drum, loved every song. She even played the song we kept shouting out for (Smoke & Ashes). Love her beautiful, dimpled smile. She just glows with sweetness, richness without appearing fake or tired.we were worried since she traveled so much this tour! The song list had a lot of the older stuff and thats always a treat. Its been a long time since she was in town. Look forward to her coming back again. Her latest album is excellant. I am still singing her tunes in my head. Such soul, such depth. I've always thought Tracey is a very talented artist and definately has unique gifts but after seeing her I'm completely blown away. I've seen several events at Humphrey's but this one is definately going to be one of the tops on my list. As a person Tracey is funny, sweet, humble, and she simply has a glow that attracts the audience like moths to a flame. Her band was not that great at all but it didnt' seem to matter because of Tracey's incredible sultry voice and her musical talents. She was constantly changing instruments; my favorite was when she went off on the beat box and bongos. You know it's going great when the whole audience stands, starts dancing and singing along. She was simply breathtaking and I'm so honored to have had the opportunity to see her perform!

It was a great concert overall. Tracy Chapman is amazing, her voice so unique and beautiful. She sang her old songs which i love like fast car, a promise, baby i hold you and revolution and some great new songs. The only thing i didn't like about the concert was that the seating at the Humphreys venue was very unconfortable. It is a nice outdoor venue but please have better seats with more space between them. Also, they didn't allow cameras so we could not keep any memories...

What an incredible concert filled with passion and energy! Tracy's unique vocals and exceptional guitar playing skills made this a night to remember. This was my first ever concert at Humphreys Concerts By the Bay and it was very intimate and cozy, especially since we had front-row seats near the stage. I strongly recommend any Tracey Chapman concert if you like hearing a person who performs well live and invokes audience participation.

Tracy's performance at Humphrey's is the best I've seen in a long time. She had a great mix of new and old songs. She seems to be more at ease and looks very happy! It's so wonderful how she mixed up her slow songs with more upbeat tempo and energy. I can't wait to see her again in San Francisco!

This was the 4th time for me seeing Tracy, although the last time was some 12 years ago. I had forgotten what a great show she delivers! She makes you laugh and even cry at her touching and thoughtful lyrics and melodies. She genuinely connects with her audience and can take you from tears to rockin' your socks off. This was a reminder to me that any time she is playing nearby, I need to go see her!!!

Tracy's overall performance was great; however, was quite disappointed her performance began over one hour after scheduled time printed on the ticket.

One of the best concerts I have seen to date. The setting: San Diego Bay. The Music: A mixture of oldies and new songs. The atmosphere: Electric! Tracy is a musical icon. She looks and sounds exactly like she did when I first heard her in the 80s. She brought back so many good memories. I just loved this concert. I will definitely see her again if she is back in the area.

Gaby Moreno opened and was terrific, but Tracy was the show! Performance was perfection, joking with the crowd and playing both old and new songs.

After a longer break between the opener and the start than the audience was comfortable with (about 40 min) Tracy and her band of 3 others came out. She kept the audience rapt from the first song to her last. Her band was really in sync and I especially liked watching the drummer who seemed like she was just having a great time hanging out and playing. She played a mix of old favorites and a few new ones for about 2 hours. I would give her 4.5 but there is no 0.5star. Now for the venue- Humphrey's is in a beautiful setting by the water but there is no elevation to the seating so if someone stands up or if a bigger person sits in front, no one can see. Secondly, the seats are hard folding chairs that are tied together so you get about 20" of very uncomfortable seating space. Even when we were standing, we were cramped. Finally, I think they are packing the rows closer . There was barely room to walk between the rows to our seats and I noticed that often people would just leave the row and step into the aisle to let people go in and out. One couple probably missed a lot of the show because the people next to them kept getting up to go who knows where. A word to the audience at Humphreys - please don't keep leaving your seat. If you can't stay in one place for 2 hours maybe you shouldn't be going to this venue.

A bit too much drinking going on, but I've been to enough shows I'm pretty good at tuning it out... Tracy is amazing. I've seen her twice before and she's usually very shy, doesn't really talk at all - but last night she was so personal, so openly herself, oh it was just beautiful. Been listening to her literally my entire life and I'll never stop adoring her.

It was the Best show I have been too. Tracy made the show more personal by talking to the audience. She shared a little about herself and her new songs. Tracy also had me laughing along with the audience. I was in awe of how very musically talented she is on various instruments. I will definitely be going to her next show!

Great oldies and some new music as well. A very mellow show but great music. Tracy is so shy so not much of a showman but her talents on so many different instruments is entertaining.

Tracy, as always, did an amazing job. Everyone who goes to see Tracy loves her vocals and her amazing ability to jam. She brought down the house with her beating of the drums. My favorite is Promise. The only thing that could have made it better would have been if she had played Never Yours. She managed a good mix of old and new and touching on almost all of the "favorites"!

This was one of the best concerts I've ever been to! She was unbelievable. Her song writing is magical and the voice! wow! I saw Tracy in Dallas Texas on her first ever tour. What a change from that talented shy girl, who never said a word the entire concert, and never took her eyes off her feet. I didn't want to night to end. Thanks Tracy--for the memories, the comfort and inspiriation. Much needed during these turbulent times. I smiled the entire night!

Tracy Chapman has such an unassuming manner that is so amazing, true, pure, and her talent is wide-ranging and totally wonderful to watch. Every moment was great. I was in the balcony seating & couldn't take my eyes off the binoculars so that I could see her perform. Amazing. Also, the audience wouldn't give up without an encore & she actually thanked us for getting them to come back .. then one of her entourage "polled" the front row people to see what their favorites were and what she should play for an encore. Really engaged the audience.

Tracy Chapman is beautiful at expressing pain and joys of love and the ills of social injustice. She makes you feel you are not alone in this world! Amazingly talented. I was touched!

She was AMAZING! The venue is one of the best. The only thing that makes a great bad is when getting a seat can be stressfull. People should not be able to save 3 tables if their party is not there. Not cool. Thank goodness for some pretty cool peeps that shared their tables. Totally a giving and cool thing to do!

I had no clue what to expect from the concert. While I new she was talented, I had no clue just how talented she really was. From the moment she stepped on the stage I was in awe... I cannot wait for the opportunity to see her again.
