Rare chance to see one of the best Japanese band of all times here at Waikiki Shell. Awesome ! ! ! I wish more Japanese Singers and Band will share to local people of Hawaii whenever they bring their fans from Japan. I would definitely settle with the ticket in the lawn seating area. I know there are many fan clubs come to Hawaii for their favorite groups but they don't share it with the local fans. I wish this event will open up doors for more from Japan to participate such as X-Japan, B'z, etc.

I am so happy to have beeen able to see L'arc en Ciel at Madison Square Garden. Though it was not my first L'arc live (L'7 tour), it was my first time at MSG. I feel bad for those who were not able to attend, because it was an amazing concert. L'arc en Ciel were absolutely fabulous! The energy of the band and the intensity of the performance was perfect for MSG, filled with pyrotechnics erupting at the pivotal moments to increase the energy. They performed classics such as Blurry Eyes, Driver's High, Jojoushi, Stay Away and Ibara no Namida. I wish they could have performed longer to hear more from the Butterfly album, because I love all the songs on the this album. Chase (my favorite) and XXX was unexpectedly performed in English. Ken had to have been the favorite highlight of the concert. Hearing his guitar first hand is such a wonderful feeling and hearing his famous guitar solo's is a just a treat. He put a lovely and cool twist on the guitar into to My Heart Draws a Dream. The cherry on top was that he was the MC for the concert. He talked about his NYC sightseeing...so sweet, funny, entertaining...Loved it/wanted more! Yukihiro never ceases to amaze me on drums. He is so powerful, it's lyrical. I love it when he performs the ending solos. It had the audience in awe. You can feel each beat of the his drumming. Something to definitely experience first hand. Hyde's voice was in fine tune. Listening to his wide ranges gives you a relaxing feeling that makes you excited. I was glad to see Tetsu was more lively than usual. He had a lot of interacting with the audience. Love the whole banana thing and this time he added lollipops. It was so cute. He licked the lollipop before tossing them into the audience. I wished he had done a bass solo. There was such a variety of people in the audience, younger, older, of many different nationalities. There was a middle-aged couple who left their kids at home to attend the concert. Many people, including myself traveled a great distance to NYC for Laruku. It was great to see, as Hyde puts it, "music crossing borders" that night. MSG was a great stage for a great performance by a great band. It was simply magical.

When L'Arc~en~Ciel came to Otakon several years ago, I missed out, and I kinda kicked myself ever since. I saw VAMPS when they did their world tour, which was also awesome, but I figured that was probably the closest I'd ever get to L'arc coming back. When I saw they were returning, I jumped on the chance immediately. The show absolutely rocked with a nice mixture of new songs and old. I was on my feet almost the entire time. I hope it won't be almost another 10 years before they return.

L'Arc~en~Ciel is the penultimate rock band to have on American shores. Having them play at MSG was just amazing to Japanese Music fans such as myself. They played with their usual studio-quality perfection, and everyone was spot-on. HYDE was pitch perfect and he even got choked up at the end during his final MC. Having seen every "Laruku" live available on DVD many MANY times, the setlist and transitions between songs were familiar, but no less awesome. They played an impressive mix of new, old and crowd favorites. "Ibara no Namida" is the example I'd use for the song that surprised me the most that they played, even though I saw it on the setlists from the previous World Tour concerts. "Fate" was also a pretty big surprise. Even if Tetsuya did say "see you", I think we can all expect Laruku to not play the mainland USA anytime soon, and that's sad. The most that we can hope is that because Laruku was able to sell out MSG (though I saw quite a few empty seats), maybe this will now open the doors for other popular Japanese musicians to play venues other than lame Anime conventions. It's been four years since I last saw L'Arc~en~Ciel in concert. I never thought I would be able to see them twice in my lifetime, so when I heard they were headlining at MSG I knew I had to attend. The concert was simply incredible. L'Arc always plays a great live, and this was no exception. Stunning vocals, guitar rifts, drum solos, and bass lines emanated through the night, along with blasts of fire, fireworks, streamers, and feathers. The band played nearly perfectly with a theatrical grace unprecedented in many modern acts. Their setlist consisted of a good mix of old and new songs which really got the crowd going. It was a privilege to hear. Hyde's closing words were "Will we meet again?" Yes, I sincerely hope so.

Like many other L'arc fans, I suspect, I first heard L'arc's music as the opening for Fullmetal Alchemist. I was immediately hooked by hyde's vocals and the outstanding guitar and bass lines, and immediately proceeded to Book Off to secure more ear candy. I was worried that I wouldn't know enough of L'arc's hits to really get into it, but these gentlemen are true performers and true musicians. It doesn't hurt that hyde is such a pretty, pretty man, especially when blown up on an over-sized screen :P Please don't hear "Japanese rock" and assume L'arc is fluff. Outstanding performance for any lover of rock, catching melodies from a singer with incredible range, and killer guitar and bass lines that sent those guys' fingers flying~

Yes, it's four days after the concert already, I can't believe it, because I've been stuck in a daydream since I walked out of that arena and even now I'm still jittering with excitement over the sheer - for lack of a better word - awesomeness that is L'Arc en Ciel. I remember walking into the arena with a bag of swag - a photobook, poster, glow-stick - sporting a brand new L'arc t-shirt, and wondering if maybe I was too excited and that there were going to be more empty seats than I thought. Well, those fears were quickly squashed, because I think the seat in front of me may have been the only empty one there! I wondered again that maybe I was the only American too, but there were plenty of people from everywhere: the girl next to me was Japanese, the boy behind me was Hispanic, and down on the floor I saw the group from Venezuela. Later, I found out that I wasn't even the only New Mexican to make the trip! The crowd was primed to start cheering. Every time the welcome announcement played(probably about 4 times since I arrived), people would start screaming. And the show hadn't even started! The show itself was like a long, beautiful dream you didn't want to wake from. Hyde, the lead singer, would egg on the audience and we would follow his lead, then he'd reward us with a kiss, or a smile, or a laugh. And we'd start all over again. Ken focused on the guitar and had a stupid little grin on his face the whole while. He later addressed the audience about his trip to the Museum of Natural History in English...grammatically correct but I'm not sure he knew exactly what he was saying. You could tell that he doesn't know English nearly as well as Hyde. Tetsuya surprised me with his sex jokes. "You want to eat my banana?" and he tossed bananas to the audience, one of which ended up in the camera booth, then again in the lighting booth(bad aim). "Do you want to lick my sucker?" And he tossed loli-pops into the audience. Yukihiro, the drummer, was in his own little world of rhythm, bashing away on the drums like there was no tomorrow and that was the only way he could communicate his feelings to the audience. Yuki didn't address the audience directly, but you could feel his intensity in his facial expression, his smile, laughs, his response to the audience's cheers - they seemed to simply light up his world. And he rewarded us with a pure metal drum solo(can you tell I'm biased yet?). The set list was amazing. Sure, there were favorites that everyone wanted to hear that weren't played, but they only had 2 hours. I myself didn't get to hear my favorites - Kosou, New World, Hitomi no Juunin, Nexus 4, Heaven's Drive, Jiyuu e no Shoutai, Killing me(there's too many) - but I did hear my other favorites - Stay Away, Jojoushi, Driver's High, fate, Honey, My Heart Draws a Dream, Anata, and Niji. They had a lot of interactive songs, ones which they requested audience participation, which certainly wasn't that hard to get, but really only possible if the fans knew the songs. Revelation involved us shouting out backups and "Hey!" at appropriate points; Driver's High had us screaming FLASH and CRASH while jack-hammering our glow-sticks in the air; My Heart Draws a Dream(the one I was waiting for) has a part at the end where we chanted the lyrics over and over while Hyde interspersed the song's name with his melodic taste; and for the encore, it started out with the monitors trying to get us to do the wave. We sucked at it. Nobody knows how to do the wave anymore. Then it moved on to us singing the chorus to Anata. Of course, they assumed we may not know the words so they provided them karaoke style: "mune ni itsu no hi ni mo kagayaku, anata ga iru kara, namida kare hatetemo taisetsu na, anata ga iru kara" We must have done that 20 times before they actually started the song. When it was all done, they said goodbye and the stage went dark. Moment's later the lights came up and people started filing out. I considered trying to get a riot started to hear more, but I was literally exhausted from the screaming, jumping, glow-stick waving, jumping, jumping, jumping - it seems like I was jumping up and down the whole time like I was at some sort of rave. I hugged the Japanese girl who sat next to me - I didn't know her - and thanked her for being an awesome cheering buddy. A final note, I wish my seats were closer. I wanted to be able to have floor seats, to be able to see the whole picture, look at all the members at once and see their faces while they played, and not just what the monitors were focused on at the time. The cameramen did a good job of capturing the experience, though, for those of us who were too far away. But now that it's over, I want to go back. I guess I'll just have to save up for a trip to Japan, because it's unlikely they'll be coming back soon. Or maybe they will. I'll just have to wait and see.

I was a fan of their music and had missed them when they performed in the US before. But I was not going to miss them in the Garden. Never having actually seen them perform I didn't know what to expect of a live performance. But I was absolutely enthralled! They incorporated everything from high tech effects on giant screens behind the stage to pyrotechnics and full on flame jets. But the show wasn't all flash. The show had its intimate moments. One of the most powerful was where the stage went bare leaving only a darkened screen with words projected on it which the crowd sang and swayed in unison. The band had a fantastic rapport with the crowd. Hyde with his flirtations and energetic, serpentine performance. Ken and Yuki's moment in the spotlight recounting adventures in NYC. And Tetsuya's playful and raunchy antics where he tossed candy and bananas out to the crowd. But despite all the big personalities the music was always the star. These guys are not just pretty faces. They are talented, polished musicians and the songs did not lose potency played live. They even gained immediacy and impact with hyde's huge voice and Ken's stirring guitar. 'Ready. Steady, Go!' was an explosion of sound and energy! The show ended with the band performing under a shower of feathers. It was an ethereal and moving moment. And I know the next time they are in the US, I will be there to see them. I desperately hope they come back to the Garden. But I'd lalso ove to see what they can do with an even bigger arena.

L'arc-en-ciel doesn't fail to bring the house down, and bring the house down is just what they did! They started out with a video of the band on the large screens as if they were in outer Space. Hyde, the lead vocalist, held a blue butterfly, (the name of their new album is Butterfly), in his hand, and let it go. Then the cameras follow the buttetfly through a maze, then Hyde punches the screen, and it cracks, then show begins! It was one wild ride! There were pyrotechnics, fireworks, and a light show! But Hyde's beautiful voice was definitely the highlight of the show, not to mention how great all the band members played! The band attracted people of all races, ages and walks of life. They even had the crowd singing in Japanese! Hyde put the chrous of Anata up on the screen so that everyone could sing it together.

I have seen them when they first came to America in 2004. It is a blessing to see them again in this year 2012 and you can tell they did their all in their performance. The graphics, the lights, the effects, and their performers is AMAZING!!! Even the energy of the fans was amazing experience. I want them to come back to Madison Square Garden again! It would be awesome as well, if this concert was shown on America television station like Fuse (not too late at night or too early for no one to see them). This is the band should perform and should be popular of not just in Japan or America but the whole world. Not if...when they come back....I will sit in the front row. Thank you for such a great experience L'Arc~en~Ciel and thank you Madison Square Garden for allowing them to give their all for us to enjoy. ^_^

Great show; historic night. It obviously meant a lot to Hyde being there, and the band gave it their all. It would have been nice if new LP 'Butterfly' were more readily available for purchase here (I couldn't find it even at Kinokuniya), or at least on sale at the concert, but no matter. Tonight was a good night. I saw lots of video cameras around; let's hope there's a DVD. p.s. Great job starting before 9pm! I got home at a comfortable hour, but that break before the encore sure was LONG. Maybe, they were looking for extra impromptu fan footage to put on the hoped-for DVD.

I was so excited to hear about this concert. It was Even Better then I'd Hoped for. Hyde was glorious as usual. tetsuya was amazing and funny. ken was superb. and yukihiro totally killed those drums. I loved the light shows. i was a little disappointed that coming closer hadn't been performed but you win some and lose some. This Concert was worth every penny and the hassle of getting to new york. I hope they come back again!!!!. In the future i will be bringing more money so i can get souvenirs.

For many years my friends and I dreamed to go to one of L arc~en~Ciel s concerts. On Sunday our dream came true. It was more that I could ever imagine, and even though some days have passed I still get very emotional. Hyde s voice was so magical and powerful, Ken s guitar solos were really magical, Yukihiro s drums were amazing and Tetsuya s bass was fantastic. I love their speaches too :) I m already looking forward for the next time I have the chance to see them live!

I was so excited that L'Arc was coming to America. I was afraid that it would have been held in a small theater with no seats/leg room. I was happy finding out that MSG was holding their concert. Only an hour away from my home! L'Arc was amazing, no doubt about that!! It was the second time I've seen Hyde in concert. (The first was a Vamps concert 2yrs ago.) He & Ken both spoke to the audience in English & Tetsu threw bananas at the floor seating. XD I have to give props to MSG for having them & selling concert goods. Not sure if the concert goods were priced "good", but I think the tickets were priced very well. MSG, please have L'Arc again and bring more Japanese artists! =)

L'Arc en Ciel rocked MSG! As the first Japanese band to headline MSG, L'Arc did not disappoint. Even though they've been playing for 20 years, they still know how to put on a great show. The crowd went wild for their popular songs like "Ready Steady Go" and "Driver's High". I wish they had played New World though! But I think overall they played a good selection of songs from their 20 year collection. And their hilarious broken english and stage antics made it memorable. It was a concert of a lifetime and I hope they come back again soon!

The Japanese group, L'Arc~en~Ciel put on their final concert of their World Tour on March 31st in Hawaii. This was by far, one of the greatest concerts I have ever attended. The group, hyde (vocals), tetsuya (bass), ken (guitar), and yuki (drums), put on an excellent show. One of my favorite parts of the show was the L'Acoustic set. Not only did they play the beautiful "Jojoushi', but they played a song I'd NEVER dreamed I would hear live, "Kasou." It was just magical. Another moment I will always remember was when they came back from their encore and the music to "anata" started. Soft at first, then building. The audience started to sing along, and soon the melody surrounded me. When the lights came on and hyde started singing, he sounded like an angel. A true "chicken skin" moment. I, and my friends near me, were crying, it was ethereal and beautiful. L'Arc~en~Ciel is a group I would highly recommend. If I could, I would see them again and again and again...

This was the best concert that we ever went to in our life! It was so great how there were no opening act, and we could truly enjoy just the L'arcenciel's concert!!!! The concert was well worth the $30 for such an awesome concert that lasted well over 2 1/2 hours! They were so great and there hardly was any intermission whatsoever. They all interacted with us fans by not only singing, but talking as well. the only downfall to this concert was, although we should be truly grateful that people that lives here or on the other states, could be a part of this concert without being in their fan club, we could only buy tickets on the lawn area only. i wished they would at least sell the tickets in the front area like the other people in the fan club so that we could've enjoyed it at a much closer distance to see them perform. we felt so away from them, and it was kind of a sad feeling. another thing is that the sound system was horrible. for such a great artist like L'arcenciel, i believe they deserved a much better sound system to have their finale concert here in Hawaii. I really hope they will be back again soon, hopefully since May 31st is now the official L'arcenciel day here in Hawaii.

Though I was initially disappointed that I couldn't score actual seats at this venue, it's such a lovely setting and being on the lawn was not quite the chaos it usually is at other amphitheaters. L'arc were amazing! This performance was truly unique and sorry to say better than in London! (even though I was _way_ closer there) Since the audience was majority Japanese they spoke as they normally do at their Japanese concerts which is something I have not seen first hand! How lucky! The set list was slightly different from London, but there were still a few new songs I would have liked to hear. I was so touched near the end when Hyde dedicated "Bye Bye" to a staff member that had passed away and that was after the concert was interrupted by the mayor of Honolulu who declared May 31th L'Arc~en~ciel Day! Honestly, it was enough seeing one of my favorite bands of all time perform, but this night was truly special and I doubt I'll ever attend another concert like it.

I have been fan since 1999 but this is first time I attend concert and they were awesome beyond imagination. So luck as this is first time concert in Hawaii where I live. This was last show in world tour 2012 and all band members gave it everything they had, even Ken-kun who caught a cold performed like nothing wrong! During quick breaks Ken and Tetsuya entertained audience with comedy keeping fans at max tension. Surprise near end Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle came out and officially announce that May 31, 2012 is L'arc en Ciel Day!

This is a band known for their high quality performances and professional live skill. They are not to be missed if you can make it to their shows. I'll see them whenever they come back to the states. This concert was the best of the best. They played to new and old fans and people who didn't know them - successfully representing themselves as a band that transcends time. Thank you for having them - hope to see them more and soon!!

I went to NY from Japan, for the first time, JUST for their concert. It was fabulous! L'Arc en Ciel themselves, of course, their performance was magnificent. And cheers of the audience was explosive as well. I've been to their concerts in Japan several times. Of course the Japanese audience shouts for joy, but here in MSG, cries of fans who had been waiting to see Laruku live was much louder. I hope to see them at MSG again!!

To celebrate L'arc~en~Ciel's 20th anniversary with a concert at Madison Square Garden was a dream come true. With a sampling of songs from their new album plus a strong repertoire of older fan favorites, the setlist was amazing. Each band member had a chance to really shine with solos showcasing their skills--Tetsu's bass solo, Hyde's a capella solo, Ken's guitar solo, Yuki's mad drum solo--and you could really see why this band remains one of the biggest names in Japanese pop/rock. The crowd's energy was great, too, and the band-audience interaction was just as it is in the band's Japanese concerts, complete with floating feathers over the audience and Tetsu throwing bananas into the crowd. An amazing show.

It was really an amazing concert. I wish they will come to the US, hopefully to Madison Square again!! I really liked the composition of the setlist. Strength and weakness if the songs were emphasized clearly, and I loved it. I also liked their comments between the songs.

L'Arc enCiel was simply amazing! They performed for hours never losing their energy, had awesome visual effects and just plain exceeded all my expectations of them! On top of it all they really came across as genially nice guys when they communicated to the audience despite speaking very limited English.

This is one of the best rock bands in the world, bar none. They were phenomenal. They are one of the many reasons I learned to speak (and sing) japanese. Great music is universal. L'Arc en Ciel has made great music for more than twenty years and are still going strong. Heck, they still look like teenagers. I saw them in 2004 at a free concert in Baltimore. AMAZING!!!! So glad they came back and had a venue worthy of them.

great production quality and humerous bits from each member of the band (except hyde). Problem lies in the songs they performed, for starters you dont start off a concert with a slow song! second despite a survey going around on what songs they wanted people to perform it severely lacked a lot of familiar hits that the band is well known for. No new world, lost heaven, LINK!, daybreak's bell, killing me, metropolis and 4th ave cafe For a 20th anniversary concert their main choice of songs were from their newer releases which is misleading.....

The crowd was pumping, at least four different languages could be heard throughout the excited crowd as the background music was tested over and over again. As soon as the first glimpse of Hyde and the band emerged there was cheering and clapping throughout the show. Glowsticks swayed rhythmically, fans sang along, it was a moment of global unity. No one's race, gender, nationality, or skin color was a factor that night, just the beautiful and pumping music of the Monster Band from Japan, L'arc~En~Ciel.

When I got my ticket, it said obstructed view and got me all worried, but when I actually went, the seat was not as "OBSTRUCTED" as I thought, I was actually pretty close to the stage, it was just that I was at a corner where the rolling camera sometimes got in the way. THE SHOW ON THE OTHER HAND WAS AMAZING. The vocal was better @ live then on CD. (the vocal blew my soul). It totally blew my mind away. It was worth it to go see them live. It was an incredible experience that I'd never forget.

I considered not going because the venue was far away for me, but I'm so glad I went. They played a mix of old and new songs and gave time for each band member to shine and show fun parts of their personality. If you go to one of their shows, definitely try to sit closer. I had a seat in section F, but later found a seat in section C and was still two rows too far for one of their many surprises of the night.

This was the best show I've ever attended (and I've been to plenty)! The venue was plenty organized, staff was helpful, and it was easy to order tour goods and reach our seats. Madison Square Garden aside, L'Arc~en~Ciel delivered a fabulous performance, as always! It was my first time seeing one of their concerts in person (rather than a dvd), and I was not disappointed. All members were in top form, and moved around the stage to interact more with the entire audience. They played a good range of older and newer songs, so those of us who were hoping for old numbers were not disappointed. As usual, they wowed with the special effects on the screens, fireworks, confetti, and feathers, and tetsuya threw plenty of bananas and lollipops to the audience. ;D I will definitely attend another L'Arc~en~Ciel live in the USA, if they return again!

The show was great, the setlist was very balanced including new and classic songs, it could have been more into the rock than the balads, but it was great at the end. Ken was really funny and the solos were a great surprise, hyde as always was the best, his voice, his movements, the way he dances and talks to the people was as always something unforgetable. The stage's screens were amazing. The only downside were the audience, as south-americans me and my friends are use to be very participative, we found the american and japanese audience to be a little cold, most of them just sitting there, not even moving their heads.
