It was really a wonderful night; so encouraging to be reminded of our inate propensity to touch the energy we all share when we join voices. KD has hit an easy stride; while by nature, he and his group always embody confident grace, they now seem to "simply be" on stage and imbue the space with beautiful radiant sound, that we are all encouraged to share in and cultivate. He hit us with his "Foolish Heart," reminding us of his songwriting origins midway, a midst some of his recent material, then brought the crowd to a climatic heart smile with his now standard archival "Pilgrim Heart" and "All One" anthems; really a heart warming experience. When given the opportunity to be there; in a word, go. With metta, DI

Be prepared for 2.5 hours without a break--he carries the show that long no problem but the derriere sometimes has different ideas. (And visit the bathroom beforehand!) Krishna Dass was a fabulous call/response leader--his gentle but commanding energy and grace never flagged. The violinist was fabulous--a gentle graceful master of her instrument. Her solos were wonderful yet understated--supporting the overall objective of taking the audience to a 'trance' place without any hint of 'look what a fabulous musician I am' (which she is). Drummer was very good also. My wife & I's biggest challenge is that it was pretty obvious everyone else already knew all the chants. They do hand out a sheet with the words, but sometimes K.D. seemed to begin in the MIDDLE of the chant, and we struggled almost every time to figure out which chant he was doing. And what do these (Hindu?) words mean? K.D. gave a couple hints here and there, but pretty quickly my confused wife & I gave up on chanting altogether and just took in the musical energy all around us. Which was wonderful!

after listening to KD's gentle but directed teaching, laughing at his irresistable humor, and chanting for several hours, i experienced fleeting but welcome moments (repeatedly) of release from my endless mental manueverings. what more could any of us wish for? krishna das--freedom fighter (altho fighter doesn't seem quite correct). his posse rocks, too. drummer was my favorite but everyone was perfect. liberation at the wilshire ebell--how do i review that? pretty utterly beyond wonderful. bliss filled. maharaj ji must be very proud of his jewish sons.

Krishna Das is a moving and soul touching man and being able to see him again was remarkable. The intimate venue was perfect for him and his band.

The seating was way too closely spaced...and there was def enough room for them to be spread out more. also, the chairs were being stacked up before people were barely leaving...gosh, give us maybe 5 min?! other than that the security, seat sitters, and the concert itself were all very well done! thanks!

KD was his usual inspired and inspiring self. Funny and provocative stories between songs. Started with slow rhythms and built up as the evening progressed. Venue was beautiful and relaxed. There was even street parking in S.F.!!! The crowd was a little less participatory than at other KD events I've attended but seemed like some were new to KD and thought they were at a "concert" instead of a kirtan. Didn't matter. We sang, danced and praised wholeheartedly anyway. Seating didn't matter as you could get up and move around, but if you want a good seat the main floor aisle would be best.

My fourth time seeing Krishna Das was the best to date. Lots of people who wanted to be there. Lots of people participated. Lots of dancing. Breathing in and out, centered in myself, letting the words flow, being moved to dance. All of these being held and encouraged in a container of peace and being energized by a strong presence of heart.

A reverent and inviting venue, an open and loving crowd, and KD's holy chainsaw of a voice cutting through all the junk we had clogging our minds and hearts. With the added bonus of the speakers, this was a perfect night. Even the parking ticket I had waiting for me after the show didn't kill my buzz.

Having seen Krishna Das on several other occasions I am always looking forward to yet another experience with him. He never disappoints and is memorable in all the ways he is present to the audience. I loved the teachings interwoven with the kirtan and Sharon Salzberg is another gifted teacher of the highest order. To have these 2 together was a real treat.

Krishna Das and Sharon Salzberg are both amazing. What was less than excellent was they talked too much. There was more of them talking about their experiences in India and history than there was chanting and/or mediation. The chanting and meditation we did was wonderful, but I walked away somewhat disappointed.

KDas is amazing and the chanting was certainly riveting and energizing and beautiful. However, it's clear that KD and Sharon Salzberger have decided to make a schtick and tour the country and charge a lot of money for an entirely unstructured event....filled with the same old stories they have been telling for a while in other venues. For $35, I expected to get some teaching, some meditative guidance....instead it was like showing up in their living room where they were just gabbing and clearly were adlibbing the entire event

It didn't work. KD was excellent. The level of participation he summoned from the audience was completely remarkable. That said, there was far too much blah blah. Sharon Salzberg was an irrelevant distraction. I left after two hours -- about one hour of kirtan -- with no sign of moving toward a conclusion.

I've kept my ear on almost all forms of music for many years. We have a couple of Krishna Das CD's, which are wonderful. The in-the-flesh experience was far, far better. Nothing else like it, that I know of...extraordinary voice, great man.

concert started on time, was over two hours long with no intermission and was fantastic. KD was witty and charming. The sound from one speaker was poor until the house made the needed adjustment. the kirtan chant, call and response was meditative. .

Krishna Das was amazing...his band was great...he gave a soulful performance and was really engaged. But. The Keswick is a ridiculous place. $35 to sit in a broken chair? An itchy, broken chair? The Keswick did call us that day to explain we'd be moved (which was nice). But it didn't matter, since the event was half-empty. The seats we moved to didn't work right either...and there were many broken chairs. And the event staff allowed parents with children to stand in the lobby crying and otherwise distracting the audience. Krishna Das insisted on keeping the lights up, so people could "read the hymnal" - bad choice. Very distracting to have people walking in and out constantly... The first 15 minutes were marred by screechy violin feedback... Not worth staying out late on a Monday night, paying a babysitter...

Dear Ones: I have been going to kirtan with KD for five years. Each event has something new to offer and this concert was no exception. KD's devotion to his guru comes from his heart and soul and shows through his beautiful chanting. What makes chanting "fun" is that we don't have to know what the Sanskrit means - and that allows each person to receive whatever they are meant to receive. When KD comes onstage first there is applause - then there is respectful quiet - and then the magic begins when he starts the prayer for Grace. Then he launches into evening and things just....happen. We get...happy. Simply happy. The chants help us release any stress, any pain - and just allow us to let us be Our Selves. The band was - as always - outstanding. They are very talented musicians and they bring so much depth to the chants. It was a beautiful evening.

Kirtin is not for everyone, but I really enjoyed his form. Krishna Das has such a beautiful voice that it helped me to get deeper into the music. His music can help bring on those few moments when you let your mind still. His band added to the experience, especially the drums.

Wow! This man has it together. It ended up being a 2 1/2 hour chanting session. The audience participated fully for the entire time. The voice response from the audience was absolutely beautiful. Talk about entranced. After each chant there was no applause, just silence. The silence showed the total respect the audience had for this man (and his band's) performance. I have never seen that before in a concert, it was amazing. (one exception was after 'Jesus On the Main Line') With all that said, this performance is not for everyone - you had to be there to understand what I mean. I do plan to attend the next time he tours the area.

Krishna Das not up to his potential. the show lacked the full energy I experienced last time I saw him. I love his music so it was a little disappointing. perhaps it was the venue or maybe he had a cold, or the cops standing by the front or all the light in the room?

That was the fifth time I have seen him live. I would say it was the best of the five. I felt a real passion in the presentation and a great venue. I could tell his voice was overworked by prior events, but has the evening his voice got better. The band brought a real desire to put on the best Kirtan possible. Loved the mix of artists that performed with him. They added a special dimension to the evening.
