The show was great. The cast is WAY into it and realty poured their hearts into it. Very talented singers and dancers. The staff at the Boston Opera House was fantastic as well. Amazingly helpful and friendly and always there where you expect them to be. The theatre is spectacular

I saw the advertisement for this show and knew immediately I would be attending. My mother loves the temptations and five heart beats movie so I knew she would love this! And she did. From the choreography to the vocals, it was all there. The lady that plays Diana Ross sounds just like her, says my mom. I don t really care for musicals, but I LOVED this one! A MUST SEE!!!

it was fantabulas! I cried and laughed. The little guy who played Michael Jackson was wonderful! great voice. I would love to see more stories of motown. Smokey should have a big story to tell behind the writing of songs, and singing them too. Just loved it! Thanks for having it for all of us to see.

The cast was incredible, the songs were amazing and they welcomed the audience to sing along. It was opening night and everyone did a great job. The young Michael Jackson did such a great job you felt like you were watching the Jackson 5 live on the Ed Sullivan show. There was a large emphasis on Diana Ross, it would have been nice to spend more time on the other groups as well. But the music is so great it didn't matter.

It is one of the best I've ever seen. You are completely engaged in the birth of Motown and the beginning careers of great singers, while at the same time reminded and uplifted by the intertwining historical overview and discharge of blatant segregation in our country. We left the musical singing Reach out and touch somebody s hand, make this a better world if you can. The show was absolutely fabulous! All of the performers did an excellent job in their portrayal of each singing group. I loved the outfits, the singing and the show entirely. It brought back lots of memories of Detroit and how it was the happening place to be. i can remember how anyone that could sing or play an instrument were trying to get to Detroit a be discovered by Motown.

If you love the music you'll love the show. The performers were spot on and the venue is perfect. I was really fortunate to see the real Barry Gordy Jr., Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder and few other Motown originals who appeared after the performance to thank everyone.

My husband and I are looking to take our daughter back before the show leaves Detroit. Very impressed!!!! Marvin Gaye and Michael Jackson were two stand outs but everyone was so fantastic!!!

Yes, they finally brought it home! Being from Detroit, you expected this to be a phenomenal production. It was every bit of that. The familiar story was brilliantly portrayed with some surprises. The characters we know so well were extraordinarily portrayed. Of course, the star of the show was the MUSIC. My, my, the music. it is all about the music. One amazing hit after another. A special moment when Berry Gordy decides to name it Motown, you will get a chill!. It was all amazing!

What a fantastic show! If you are in Detroit, also make sure to visit Hitsville USA, Motown museum, seeing this 1st made the musical even better. So wonderful to follow the history and then see it come to life on stage. The cast did an amazing job. Costumes, music and the stage sets and colors were great. Highly impressed.

The music, of course, was the best! The story line is somewhat weak, but this is overcome by the energy of the songs, the cast and the choreography. The Diana character was spot on and the actress nailed the character in everyway including her singing voice, audience participation (reach out and touch somebody's hand), and mannerisms. The young MJ was fantastic and he was the understudy the night that we saw the performance ! He was all that in terms of capturing MJ. Wish we had been in attendance the first night when Barry Gordy, Smokey and Stevie appeared. MOTOWN is Detroit's LEGACY. I would see it again! .

Seeing this play was a gift I gave to myself and a special friend. . Motown has a special place in my heart (my soul never grows weary when listening to Motown.) What a great story BG had to tell ! It begins in his childhood and ends up where Motown is today.Sorry to you Motown that you ended up in LA. I've heard it said that you can lose your soul in that city.Is that what happened to the Motown sound?Thank you BG for what you gave to the world Thanks for telling your story of dreams,ambitions,hard work,sacrifices,love,losing love,friendships,heartaches.BG poured his soul into this story,the same way he lived his life. We really lucked out, the real Berry Gordy, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Martha Reeves, Mary Wells and a few others came on stage at the end. Stevie sang, wow what a show I could not believe my luck to see all the real heroes in person. The dancing was fantastic as was the singing brought back a lot of Detroit memories, this being the opening night in Detroit made the show even more fantastic. WOW!!!!!!

We saw this production of Motown last Saturday night. From the first note that was sung we were enthralled! The musical talent of each performer was amazing! Everyone should see this. My husband and I are 60+ and we took our 15 yr old niece and we all loved it! Go if you can!

I didn't know the story line would be focused on Berry Gordy and his struggles (financial and emotional) to form Motown and keeping it going. I also had no idea he was in a romantic relationship with Diana Ross.

What a wonderful musical trip to the past, the performers did their part well. I didn't know the play was based on the autobiography of Berry Gordy, but knowing this explained a lot.. Diana Ross portion was vague but not overwhelming she did her part well. I can't wait to read Ross's biography. Over all a well preformed musical

What a fantastic show! Berry Gordy had an interesting life to say the least. Every song brought back memories from a time long ago! The young boy who played Michael Jackson was phenomenal! From where we sat, he looked and moved just like him! All the other performers were excellent as well, but for me, he stole the show! Our seats were pretty high up but we were able to see just fine. The music, singing, dancing and atmosphere was perfect!!! Though I was familiar with the songs from growing up in the late 70s, I didn't know the history of Motown and the era in which some songs were written. The production gave me an a clear picture to some of Motown songs. Plus, my teenage daughter who loves to dance and old music was WOWED and tearful from the opening scene. This was the perfect first production that she will truly remember and it will definitely be a lasting one.

This was the best musical I ever been to, better yet I took my dad who has dementia and he was clapping and singing like he was his old self. We were in the front row so he wanted to go on stage to dance. He told me If they let me up there " I WILL CUT A RUG" . EVERY DOLLAR I SPENT ON TICKETS WAS WELL WORTH TOO SEE MY DAD HAPPY.

Motown the Musical is an amazing show. It's the soundtrack to a lot of people's lives, so it was good to learn the story behind this historical company. If you get a chance to see this touring company, keep your eye on the actor who plays Stevie Wonder, especially in the finale. He became Stevie! Also loved the singalong songs!

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary this month. Our daughters surprised us with FRONT ROW seats to this muscial. To even try to put the show into words would do it little justice. From Michael Jsckson to Smoky Robinson to Diane Ross and the Supremes this show has it all. It will transport you back in time during proud and sad moments in the USA through about 50 years of amazing musical eras. You will be singing and clapping in your seat. During Diana Ross's number Reach Out And Touch Somebody's Hand the audience holds hands and sings the music in an enchanting and unifying experience in the theater. I was floored by the music, music I knew, and it felt like a concert. If you like the music, you'll love the show. And, if you aren't sure if you know the music, then it's worth seeing because you'll hear songs you may not have even realized were Motown. Each song seemed to trigger a memory of a time growing up, a time listening to Oldies in the car, or a movie with that song in it.

I really wasn't prepared for the talent and stage chorography that took place. It was truly impressive. Things flowed seamless and the timing was impeccable. At no time did I feel that it slowed or that I could leave without missing something. It truly kept us in our seats until the break.

ok, I have to admit that I am not the biggest fan when it comes time for seeing a musical. I purchased these tickets only because I love Motown music. I purchased front row seats for myself and 3 other family members. this musical was the best ever. It was better than any concert or any play that I have seen in the past. This is not the typical musical, in my opinion the actors and actresses singers and dancers were all amazing. the live orchestra in the pit was amazing as well. Everything and every performance seemed so real. I will love to take other family members to see this motown musical. They may not get front seats lol but they'll get the best musical experience ever..

Very good show! Almost as good as Jersey Boys. The cast singing was very good! Cast that played Berry Gordy, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, David Ruffin & The Temptations, Martha Reeves.... All sensational!! First half of show is stunning! Second half with the attempted audience participation asked for during Diana Ross's Reach Out And Touch not quite as good.

My husband and I went to see the show and it was great! We really enjoyed it! The only thing I would say is.... the first half of the performance should have been less talking and more singing/dancing..after all, it's MOTOWN. When you think of MOTOWN, you think of great (oldies) songs! The second half of the performance was great!

OMG...I don't even know where to start. The whole musical extravaganza was one that any music buff should experience. It really did give an accurate account of the music of the time during the Motown era and also told the love story of Berry Gordy and his protege Diana Ross. If ever I should have the opportunity to see this musical again I would do it in a heartbeat!

I love the dancing.. The music was amazing the show was about 3hours of non stop moving shaking and grooving. They even touched on the segregation and black power movement plus the assassination of doctor mlk and jfk.. Great show great message.. Black love is for everyone..

A fast paced, overly entertaining show with an ultra talented cast. The set was more than enough which used all the limited space that was available. A decent story line which probably followed Barry Gordy's book. The singing, costumes and stage present was exactly as I remember seeing decades earlier. I've shared this opinion with anyone who would listen. "Go", I tell them, "Just go".

Mo'Town the Musical was very well done, my wife and I absolutely loved it. We were able to experience this great time in Detroit music history all over again. Oh what a time!!! Me being born and raised in Gary, Indiana had the opportunity to brag about The Jackson Five all over again. In closing the actress who played Diana Ross sounded exactly like "Black" when she spoke. Man it was like watching Lady Sings the Blues and Mahogany all over again. Thanks for coming home, you all most definitely reached out and touched all of our hands as well as all of our hearts here in Detroit!!!

I would recommend any Detroiter from back in the day take the time to see this wonderful musical production! In fact, anyone who knows anything about relevant music will enjoy this well performed musical. No other musical time in history compares to the heydays of Motown Records. The artists were so melodic, they could perform effortlessly without instruments. They were polished, professional and extraordinary performers!

My Mom was having major spine surgery on Friday, October 31 so I decided to surprise her with front row tickets the night before. Not only were they front row seats, but the BEST seats in the front row, right next to the stairs where the actors come off stage. Because of this, my Mother had the pleasure to sing 'Reach Out and Touch' with actress Allison Semmes (Diana Ross). After the show was over, several people asked for my Mom's autograph. She had the time of her life. She is now in the hospital and cannot move her legs. I continue to remind her of Thursday night. Unforgettable. She wants to see her again to sing to her. Lol. I told her that I'll try to sing in her place.

I love Motown. I grew up with Motown and listened to the music pretty loud. The show was fantastic, the cast was great, the music was great, The only downside - and it was pretty significant - was that the volume was way too loud! I am a child of the 60's, I always listen to my music on the loud side (and I have the hearing aids to prove it!), but this was painful even with my aids turned off. I wonder if the sound system was mistuned or if there was a problem. In any case, I would go to see this again, at another venue just to see if it is a little less jarring.

I took my mom to Motown and I must say we both agreed we would go again! By far the best musical we have seen in a long time! They interacted with the audience and their voices were wonderful!

I'm a fan of old movies and classic oldies osngs...especially the 60's & 70'5. Well Motown was the heart of my youth and I can't believe how many unforgettable songs came from that era. Over the years I've seen many of the groups I loved like the O'jays, the Temptations, and many others. Yes, I loved the originals but this group of talent from the Motown era is an incredible performance to watch and listen to. These recreated songs are probably more dynamic seeing them performed live with the exuberance of dance and harmonization than just hearing them on a 50's transistor radio. I loved the show and if you like music, this is a great documentary on what all the fuss was about. Go!
