Again, EFO amazed. It's hard to imagine how these four musicians + Jake can be so tight and natural with the limited schedule that they have elected to undertake these past few years. I did not think I would ever hear "In Paradise" live - just beautiful, Julie. Also, "Sounds Like Home" was a real treat. Never thought I'd say this but I actually missed the drum solo.

What a terrific concert! The energy and skill of the EFO gang is unsurpassed. The addition of Jake (can't remember his last name) was a very nice treat. I love the banter of the EFOers. They make the concert seem so personal. Of course, the purity and clarity of their combined voices and harmonies are their truest strengths. Way to go EFO - you're the best!

We went to see Eddie from Ohio on the first night of their stay at the Birchmere. We have seen them many, many times and this show was a favorite. The new guy who played the violin and mandolin was great and brought a fresh sound to an already great band. All of the members seemed happy to be there and well rested. They were funny, esp. Mike, and natural, and totally entertaining. It was a blast!

Fantastic show! Some new songs as well as some of their great older songs. Eddie's drum solo was amazing. We found Mike's story about Bonnybrooke interesting - now the song has more meaning. Julie's singing of Great Day is always great.

We've seen EFO at least a dozen times, and the shows at the Birchmere are always the best. Fabulous sound and an intimate setting. We took friends who had never been to the Birchmere and had never seen EFO before. They had a great time, loved the show and the food, and even bought the CD of the show which was being recorded live that night. I can never say enough about the Birchmere - the best place to see musical acts anywhere!

First of all, the Birchmere Staff is always great. Eddie from Ohio has a style all their own; makes you feel like you have known the band members for a long time. Not only are they great musicians, but they bring a level of their own lives to the stages. Lots of fun to see them again in a venue like the Birchmere.

We have seen EFO many, many times and this show was just fantastic! The addition of Jake and his fiddle is an obvious hit. The band was sharp as ever, Julie's voice never misses a note. Robbie and Mike's guitar playing is like I've never heard before. Eddie on drums....well there is no other word to describe that than awesome as always!! They played a great set list--loved the older stuff, too. The only sad part was that it had to end. What a fun, fun night at the Birchmere. We're ready to go again tonight!! Keep it up EFO--you guys are great!!

This group, extremely tight after 22 years of playing together, defies categorization. Folk, country, gospel, pop, and most of all QUIRK, featuring tight harmonies, keeps a broad audience happy all night long. They played 2 full hours plus encores. Percussion was extraordinary and lent critical energy to all of the songs. Julie Wells sings in the exact center of every pitch in a way that is surprisingly rare for most singers today.

I purchased tickets as a gift for my fiance for Christmas as he is a big EFO fan and has been since college. I absolutely loved this show. The band is immensely talented and their harmonies were incredible. They are very down to earth, charitable and really get the crowd involved. The two brothers who opened for them (one also an EFO member) were incredible as well. The Birchmere is a perfect venue! We had a fantastic time.

Dan Navarro and David Glazer were the perfect warm-up for the most fun band performing today. Eddie from Ohio is family and they adopted all of us Friday night, if just for a couple of hours. EFO played a couple of covers just to show us they still can nail them but the best was their great selection of their own tunes, old and not so old. Jerusalem with Jake Armerding's beautiful intro was the best I'd ever heard it performed and we all had a rousing "Joe" during Three Fine Daughters. And Mr. Clem's wit.... "Death, taxes, and....", Well. you had to be there. It's two days later and I'm still flying.By the way,the Birchmere is a top venue with good food and a staff who cares.

Julie Murphy Wells was at her best with lots of pep and energy in her presentations. Michael Clem and Robbie Shaefer were great, in other words, fabulous. They kept up a great pace for a superior performance. Perfect lead-ins to their songs. Jake Armeding on his fiddle added a pleasing element. Eddie Harkness excelled on percussion. While EFO's not playing every week at Bad Habits Grill like they did in the 90s, their shows remain fun, entertaining, and at times touching. They're one of the most difficult bands to classify--"folk rock" sorta captures it, but not really. Smooth harmonies, poignant and fun lyrics, and stellar musicianship. The show was a good mix of their new and old stuff. Something for everybody!

These guys are awesome and continue to eclipse their assigned genre of 'folk'. Rock, Blues, Gospel, and even a little Ska, this band has tremendous depth. They have earned their popularity with twenty (REALLY?!?!) years together touring nationwide and playing in all sorts of venues. Their experience gives them great synergy between the band members, and you can hear it in their music. Tight! The two friends I brought to the show cold (i.e., never heard them before) were just as impressed, reinforcing my view if you see just one show, you will be an EFO fan for life!

Again, the most entertaining band peforming today left me counting the days till their next show (January at the Birchmere). I don't know how they manage to play 17 full-length songs in 15 minutes (well, it's not 15 minutes really but sure seems like it). You have never heard live vocals like this from just four people, and one of the four is a drummer! Go figure. thanks for another great great show J,M,E,&R. The closing song was a real surprise. It was Sweet. See you in January.

This was a wonderful concert, as always. I was disappointed that the venue was far from full and I assume the band was, too. Must have been a lack of marketing because I know there are plenty of fans around. But those in attendance were enthusiastic and attentive enough to cover for those who stayed home. Theonly imperfection in the show was no "Baltimore". I expected to hear it since we were right down the road, but I did love "Sweet Virginia"! EFO is the best and I wish there were more opportunties to see them.

We have enjoyed EFO for over 20 yrs. The Birchmere is a great intimate setting for their performance.You always feel close to the group. I was very happy that Julie chose to perform, In Paradise; a wonderful tribute to a little girl. A very long time ago at the Tin Angel in Philadelphia I asked her to perform it and at the time they weren't doing it. I guess time has eased some of the pain. Thanks Julie!

EFO always pleases. This was an exceptional evening in that it was their 25 anniversary show(s), all request play list and no opening act. Three hours of EFO...fantastic!
