Get Up Kids
The Get Up Kids rose to fame in the mid-‘90s thanks to their powerful emo punk sound and adrenaline-filled live performances, and they remain just as emotionally rousing two decades later. Heavily distorted guitars, breakneck drums, and heart-on-sleeve lyrics are the order of business at any Get Up Kids show, and fans in the pit feed on the band’s infectious energy as they dance and sing along to anthems like “I’ll Catch You” and “Your Petty Pretty Things”. Frontman Matt Pryor is a commanding showman, alternating between passionate vocals and casual anecdotes delivered between songs. Whether they’re tearing through early favorites like “Ten M.

Saves the Day and the Get Up Kids both put on amazing performances! The Get Up Kids were super fun to watch. They had a ton of energy, really appeared to enjoy each other's company, and filled the show with fan-favorite songs from "Something to Write Home About." However, their set suffered from constant technical difficulties, and some of their newer songs seemed to lose the audience's attention. Despite all that, though, the set was amazing. Saves the Day, in my personal opinion, was even better. Singer Chris Conley was obviously having the time of his life, and so was the crowd. He never once lost their attention, and some of the crowd even sang along to songs that haven't been released yet (songs from their upcoming album). The band crammed nearly 30 songs into 90 minutes, and played an amazing variety of songs, including B-Sides and favorites from their early albums. Overall, I don't have a single complaint about their set, it was perfect! This was probably the best concert I've ever been to.

Opening group was surprisingly good. Youth Group was awesome, but set was a bit short. GUK was solid and extremely tight.

The Get Up Kids were good but they could have been better. All of their equipment wasnt working properly. Only one mike was set up properly. Couldnt hear the rest of the backup singers. Show could have been better on the House of Blues Part!! Also there should be some standered for opening bands. The first band of this show was terrible!! All in all I did enjoy The Get Up Kids. Next time I will see them at the beginning of their tour not the end. Also BOO on House of blues "No cameras allowed, and it has to be coat checked and you have to pay for it!"

Two amazing bands! Luckily, only real fans arrived and the wanna-bes went to see some kind of freak show going on in town. The first band wasn't really that great, but hey they tried. BUT Youth Group did an amazing set and turned things around. It was a pleasant surprise to see them since they weren't listed as playing! Then the Get Up Kids rocked the house the rest of the night! They still have it! Great concert! Loved the venue and the two bands!

I was rocked so hard that I exploded out of my shoes and into a realm of heaven that can only be opened after a reunion show of an incredible band. Everyone was elated.

The Get Up Kids show exceedee all of my expectations. I have been attending their shows at the metro in chicago for as long as i can remember, then they split... i moved to san diego... as soon as i heard they were touring, i planned on seeing them. i was hoping to fly back just to relive the exact experience that i held so special.unfrortunately that show sold out in minutes. so san diego house of blues did my memories proud. the kids have grown and so have we, in fact james called out us "old farts" on the balcony. they played like the old days and i was a very happy participant! from what i saw and heard from the crowd, they enjoyed themselves also.

This was the best TGUK show that I have ever seen, it terms of how they played. They played songs that you don't normally hear live. They performed perfectly together to whole show and they all looked like they were having a blast doing it too. I have been to ALOT of TGUK shows, and this was one of the best by far.

These guys still bring it after all these year. This is my 6th time seeing them live and each time it keeps getting better. They act surprised that people still care after all these years, however with such good live shows and such a great mix of songs from all the albums it is not one to miss!

The Get Up Kids had a rocky start due to sound control but that had nothing to do with them. Overall, TGUK were awesome! Played a variety of songs from all their albums and even had some fun doing a Blur cover. Campfire Kansas made the show for me though - all I needed to hear. Saves the Day on the other hand played way too many new songs from their newer albums. I would've preferred they played more of their old stuff from "Can't Slow Down" and "Through Being Cool" as well as more acoustic stuff considering he did have the acoustic out but only played one song (Hold - which was awesome). Chris needs to cut out the whiny voice from his newer stuff as well...

This was my third time seeing The Get Up Kids. They played a really great set with a nice mix of their staple songs, new songs and old songs that I've never heard them play live before. I also loved that they encored with a Blur cover, it's nice to hear the occasional cover from bands as talented as The Get Up Kids. There is a reason I keep going to see them! Saves the Day also did amazingly well. I've been a fan for years but never had the chance to see them live and in their home state! The crowd really got into it which made it even better. Starland is a good venue because the sound is really crisp and well balanced (with the exception of the mic mishap during The Get Up Kids first song). Overall, great show, I had a blast and the energy in the room was awesome.

Saves The Day put on a perfect set. Get Up Kids were definitely up to par. Not a lot of little boys and girls running around which is always a plus. I felt like it was 2003 with good pop punk!

I have been a fan of TGUK for many years. The reunion show they did a few years back was super fun. I did not enjoy this show as much. The crowd seemed to like all of their old stuff. The crowd seemed confused by the new stuff. I have no idea why they decided to change their sound completely with that last cd. Strange... It is worth it to see their older stuff live.

Brian Bonz put on an amazing show! That man has songwriting talent for sure! I can't help but wonder though... Where the hell was James Dewees? The Kids definitely aren't the same without him ESPECIALLY when they play the new tracks. Still they managed to rock the place inside out with the help of the Music Hall's always flawless sound quality and acoustics. But seriously, James Dewees, if you read this somehow... I'm a huge fan! This show would have been WAAAAAAY better with you there! I hope you're alright and I wish you the best wherever you are.

The show was a bit rough around the edged, the smooth melodic events if the tunes ere missing in place of an edgieer rocking sound. Fun to dance around to but a step back for a band that had a unique and intricate feel to them. The approach was alloy and took away from their songwriting.

They played alot of the fan favorites but i was a bit dissapointed that they didn't play shorty which is my personal favorite. But other than that they hit all the songs you want to hear plus more. So overall I say if your on the fence it's worth the price to see one of the great alt/emo bands do their thing on stage one more time.

Honestly, I was not very impressed by the Get Up Kids. I have loved them forever and was really disappointed- they messed up a lot and were really jerky to their audience. Broke my heart. They just didn't seem to care. But the opening bands made it worth it. I drove six hours for this show, and I am glad I did. Mansions came on, and I almost cried; they were incredible. As was Kevin Devine. The both of them gave it their all- they were flawless performers who loved their audience. They totally outshined the Get Up Kids.

I have seen the Get Up Kids perform live many times over the past ten years and they are always excellent. This show was no exception. The only thing that kept this show from achieving five stars were the opening acts. The Get Up Kids have really set the bar high in the past by touring with bands like Jimmy Eat World and At The Drive In.

Believe it or not, but the Get Up Kids were actually out shined by their opening acts. Mansions, a small band from Kentucky, had a perfect sound mix and they were tight the entire set. Kevin Devine and the Goddamn Band are always amazing but this time they were explosive. The guitars sounded so good and Kevin's voice was very clear. I'd recommend these two to everyone. The Get Up Kids? Not so much, their set was kind of, well, bad.

I have been a fan for years and was so excited to see them again. For starters, the band's enthusiasm was extremely low. They acted like performing live was a huge chore, which was not a pleasure to watch. The only good part of the show was the fans. Fiinally, there was no creativity in their music. I could have listened to their music at home and imagined them on stage. A huge waste of money.

Absolute Perfection! Delighting die-hards and new fans alike, The Get Up Kids re-emerged onto the scene after a 4-year respite older, but full of the same energy and talent for which they are known. Emerging to Prince's classic 1999, TGUK celebrated the success they've received over the last 10+ years. Playing well-worn and much loved tracks from their entire repertoire the Kids also introduced 3 new tracks from their recent venture into the studio, which on first listen seems to reflect 4 years of experience and growth from the bands time away. Cheers abound as the Kids are back in action and we can't wait to hear more.

Reliving the high school experience! Awesome! The show was hands down one of the best I have been to in a while. Anyone 18-24 who remembered them from high school would LOVE this! They are a genre that's quite unique, but nevertheless, incredible. Kevin Devine, despite technical difficulties, was equally as incredible and all should see him headline as well.
