Great Show! Jr. Brown is one of the best pickers around. Totally enjoyed watching him play!

The first time I saw Junior was in Philadelphia about 12 years ago in a small dinner theater. He destroyed the place! You can't explain Junior Brown, you have to experience him. Certainly one of the greatest guitar players ever, and, of course the eternal overlord of the Guitsteel!! Just go see him if you can.. Watch for his eyes to bug out when he gets his jam on.

I first saw Junior Brown more than 15 years ago and I can honestly say that he's getting better and better with age. He's relaxed and comfortable on stage and gets the most from his two band mates and his "Guit-Steel" every night. I was a little worried when the set first started that he might not have the pipes to get his voice to hit those deep lows, but after a few songs he was in fine form as usual. His playing was as fiery and spirited as I've ever seen him, and his voice was vibrating the walls and had the crowd hooting and hollering. Junior can move effortlessly from a slow country ballad to a rocking surf medley so smoothly that you might not appreciate his talent and how he's mastered his two headed monster of a guitar-slide steel hybrid. The crowd at Shank Hall was eating out of Junior's hand and wanted him to play all night as was evident in multiple standing ovations, cheers, and chants. If you've never seen Junior Brown I just have three little words for you....SEE HIM NOW!...He truly is an American original in both his style and musicianship, and is not to be missed.

Junior Brown is a guitar virtuoso. He ranks with the best guitarists of all time. An excellent showman in the intimacy of a club. 90 minutes of nonstop high power music. Primarily a blend of old standards and his own songs, interwoven with incredible instrumentals with riff hints of a broad repetoire of guitar genres. During his extended instrumentals, you would think there are only him and his guitar in the room, until he mugs for the crowd to remind them that he knows they're witnessing his private moments with his guitar. Don't miss an opportunity to see him in a club,whatever your musical taste. This is a musician/entertainer par excellence.

Never saw a performer work so hard to entertain. He was AWESOME!!!!! He played like there was no tomorrow.

Junior Brown was awsome. The guy can really play the guitar and the fact he was playing the guitar and steel on the same instruments was amazing. It was our first time at the Bluebird club and did not like the place at all and will not be back but seeing Junior Brown and his band made up for the bad venue. Junior Brown is a must see even if you don't care for his type of music. He is truly something to watch. Would see him again but not at the Bluebird.

What a musician! Nonstop. Funny. A technical clinic. One of the best concerts in over 45 years of watching.

Junior was pretty much a human jukebox with endless stamina and dexterity. He played song after song and solo after solo for about an hour and a half straight without a break. To say he might be the greatest guitar technician in the country/rockabilly/swing/bluegrass mode would be damning him with faint praise. He rates up there with Hendrix, J Mascis, Eddie Van Halen, and Yngwie Malmsteen as one of the finest players of the guitar who has ever lived. Seeing him again is not a matter of if, but when.

I have seen Junior Brown several times, and it is always a great show! The Aladdin Theatre seems to work for his type of performance. He plays a long set and barely takes a breath between songs. People often stand through much of the show and sing along to many tunes.

He did what he was meant to do and blew me away, I didn't want it to end. I did wonder where was his wife?

Real breath of fresh air as far as concerts go. Not so overcrowed like larger venues are. Enjoyed his whole act ie: talent, humor, guitar picking. Look forward to seeing him again someday.

Junior Brown is aging like a fine wine. His music never gets old and he's a hell of a nice guy. Everytime he comes to town, you can find me at his show. he truly is the Master of the guitsteel. This was the first time I saw/heard Lisa and Her Kin (opener) and they were damn great too!

Love Junior and Lisa's Kin was equally a gas! Junior was vintage Junior, gotta love it, no other country on on our beautiful planet will you ever see such an Amercan only style of music, a super great time!! Made me proud of what we can do here, and so unique. Lisa's Kin was just as amazing, if you love vintage style Rockabilly with a modern flavor these guys,, and Gal,,are the bomb! Lisa's Kin needs a good manager and a contract, they should be nationwide. Count me in for the next gig of either band. Thanks Aladdin!! Now bring em back soon!

I really love the Aladdin Theater. What a great venue. And a great venue deserves great performers! Junior Brown's performance was one of the best I've seen at the Aladdin. Awesome, Just plain Awesome! That about sums it up!!

Junior Brown is the most exciting guitar player ever. The Aladdin is the perfect venue to see him in. The simplicity of a three piece band with a bass, a drummer with a snare, high hat and symbol belies the roomful of music one is treated too when Junior takes the stage. He has three premium unique talents and instruments, his guitar, steel and voice. It starts fast and the intensity never lets up.

Junior Brown always puts on a great show. He is a consumate performer and a real professional. His playing is unbelievable and he just gets better as the years go by. If you're a guitar fan you have to see him live.

Junior Brown is AMAZING! What a talented man! And he definitely knows how to entertain. The Ark is such a great place to see a concert...it's so intimate there. Junior needs to come back to Michigan more often. We love you here! Your fans here definitely appreciate that you play the Ark every year...we can't wait for you to come back.

Incredible show! If you haven't seen Junior live, your missing out on one heck of a treat! His guitar skills are amazing, and experiencing his enthusiasm live is something you'll never forget. Excellent! The ARK is an intimate, great place to see a show, although the sound system that evening wasn't quite as stellar as it's been for previous shows I've seen there.

What an incredible set. Junior brings 200% to his fans in this small venue. He played his new releases and old favorites. I would certainly go hear him again. It was great to see him and his wife on stage. It was an outstanding night of music. Junior covered it all!!!! Sound was great, even for a live venue.

This was my first time seeing Junior Brown LIVE. What an absolutely amazing performer. All of his music was great, song after song. The music master himself and what a voice! I will definitely be back for tickets when he comes to town again.

Junior was amazing! No breaks between songs; they just kept going and going. Brown's signature western-jazz-surf guitar style is indescribable if you've never seen it before, and you have to see him to really appreciate what's going on musically. It's like watching the Harlem Globetrotters: he pulls out amazing technical tricks you'd never expect, executes them flawlessly, and somehow manages to make it humble rather than flashy; almost comedic with the occasional sound effect gag thrown in on the guitar. Tanya Rae's rhythm playing is also impressive in its tempo, endurance, energy, and precision. Side note: I was especially impressed that Junior can pause between phrases of a single guitar solo, turn around, adjust his amp, turn again, and pick up where he left off in the solo without missing a note.

Amazing show, his guitar playing is as memorable as the first time I saw him 15 years ago. Great seeing his wife back on stage. Amazing set list, a mix of old and new, pulled out all the stops.

Junior is such a kick ass great guitarist that I could hardly stand it. And a great vocalist too. On top of his musical abilities he seems to really be having fun, which is contagious.

First time seeing Junior live. Awesome! Great guitar player! Band looked like they were having fun which made it even more enjoyable. Started 2 hours after posted time,but you can't beat the price of admission.

Junior Brown's concert was amazing. It was a privilege to be in the presence of such talent.

From the moment the band came on til the moment they ended, they were on fire. Junior has unbelievable fingers on the neck. Tanya was soiid rytham and the drum and bass were there every step of the way.

I cannot tell you how pleased I was to be in the audience watching Junior Brown perform. He has a marvelous manner of connecting with people and I was not surprised to learn that he has a very devoted following. The material flowed from his guitar and his group effortlessly and his pleasure in communicating with us was very visible. I would not hesitate recommending him highly to my friends. Please bring him back again soon. The venue was excellent, the server could not have been more attentive, so my friend and I rate this as 4 stars.

Junior was incredible!! I have seen him many time and he is always a class act. He really gets into his performance. He has incredible talent. He is a good ole boy like me!!

Unbelievable - over the top skill/techniques, but way beyond the mechanics to be beautiful as well. Gravel voice from the pits of Hell as sung by an angel with a sense of place and what went before. Funny, witty, with just breathtaking skill. Knows what he owes, but also delivers surf country on seriously banned substances. Looks to be in a trance when he's in the groove. I never bother with reviews, but I''d feel dishonest if I didn't tell you this. Could be I'm coconuts, but I guess I liked it -- a whole hell of a lot. Only disappointment -- never did learn why his baby would only dance to Ernest Tubb.

With his unique, self-designed, double neck, 14 string guitar and his deep voice that gets as high as Johnny Cash and as low as nothing you've ever heard before, Junior Brown is an amazing sight to see. Whether covering humorous honky tonk ditties, surf music, "Secret Agent Man," or the fastest version of the Bennie Hill theme song, the man is a virtuoso. This was my first time seeing him, and I'll try never to miss him when he comes to town.

Junior Brown created and plays a "steel-guit". He played with steel guitar legend Leon McAuliffe, a onetime member of Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys....

Junior Brown's performance at The Birchmere on April 9 made me understand how important he is an an artist. He INVENTED the instrument he plays - the Guit-tar, which is a cross between steel slide guitar and an electric guitar. And he was all over it Saturday night. I first saw him in 1995 when his wife Tanya Rae was travelling with the band and playing rhythm guitar. The show on Saturday was very different,,,less of a "show" and more a performance by someone who has made an important contribution to Americana music. I've never been to Austin but now I'd like to go just to see Junior and Tanya perform at the Continental Club on Sunday nights...

Junior put on a great show and played all his well known songs. Crowd loved it and he was enjoying the crown enjoying him!

Experiencing Junior Brown 1st hand includes watching this guy do things to his guit-steel, (a self designed combination of a Fender and Steel Guitar) that are truly incredible. Then you trying to follow him as he almost transparently drifts from one classic guitar riff into another and enjoying the humour in his songs along the way. The first track played, was 'Broke Down South of Dallas'. As for the venue... The Birchmere is an ideal setting to get up and close to the band... and by the end of the evening Junior had played a good mix of favourites from all his CD's. These included, Long Walk Back to San Antone, My Wife thinks You're Dead, I Hung it Up, Venom Wearin' Denim, Highway Patrol, Freedom Machine, Gotta Get Up Every Morning and many others... it was a sensational event.

I play in a band called Alpha Rev and we had a benefit show that Junior was gracious enough to come and play at. We learned a few of his songs and when he got up on stage to play them, i was ready to play his tunes with him. It took only about 15 seconds for me to realize that instead of playing, i should just stand and listen to this phenom play and enjoy the moment. So i put my violin away and just watched and was amazed. I have to say that to this day i have never seen anyone play their instrument the way Junior plays his. I was extremely inspired and frightened all at the same time. If you have never seen this guy play do yourself a favor and check him out. He is undoubtedly a phenom and an amazing talent. Junior, thanks for taking the stage with us. It was my honor brotha and i will def be at your next show.

This guy has got to be one of the hardest working guitar players I've ever seen. Going between the steel and the 6 string with the proficiency and accuracy he displays is amazing! And of course handling all the vocals as well with that wonderful full range voice is awesome! Highly entertaining, the drummer and bassist were spot on to ground this very talented guitarist/singer/songwriter.

If you have not seen Junior Brown in concert your bucket list is not complete. This guy does things with his guitars that you don't believe even when you see them. A great mix of styles from country to surf rock in one unforgettable show. Uniquely American and enjoyable by all. The audience was obviously in love with this performer. Junior and the band played their hearts out.

Last night was the 4th time I seen Junior at the Ark and I will be back again! And to have his wife jammin' with him, whoaa! she's hot!

Third time I have seen Junior and he still never ceases to amaze me. Funny lyrics and great talent, he was incredible once again. Having his wife withh him this time was an added plus.

This guy rocks!!! He played 1 song after another. And was in fine form. The sound was spot on. It was nice to see his wife back with him & singing too! We are so lucky he likes to play at The Ark.

As always, Junior had the audience standing, clapping, and yelling. Every concert is better than the previous one and every one is different. His musicianship is the best in the industry. He makes you laugh and also shake your head in amazement. What a fun time! Cancel your appointments and go see Junior Brown!

I WENT WITH NO EXPECTATIONS . HE HAS BEEN ON MY BUCKET LIST FOR A WHILE ONE HELL OF A SKILLED MUSICIAN. JUNIOR SURE CAN PICK THE UNIQUE GUITAR THAT HE HAS CREATED A COMBO OF STEEL GUILT AN STEEL SLIDE JUST BRILLIANT AND HIS MUSIC IS FUN AND LIGHT HEARTED. I RECOMEND ANYONE TO GO CHECK HIM OUT YOU WONT REGRET IT.

Junior Brown, as always, was fantastic. The Rose venue was uncomfortable due to NO AIR CONDITIONING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This made for a nasty distraction during a great show. I will not go back to The Rose.

Amazingly accomplished guitarist, top notch showman, writer of fantastic songs. Will have you snapping your fingers and itchin' to cut up some carpet! "Better half" Tanya Rae Brown is the perfect complement and an excellent talent in her own right.

Junior's show was excellent. Perhaps among the best of the 10 or 12 Birchmere shows I have been to over the past few years. He had some nice old songs from older albums that he played, especially a duet with his wife Tanya. His guitar playing was fabulous as usual and he did a lot of my favorites -- Lifeguard Larry, Party Lights, Highway Patrol, and a couple of his great instrumentals. Well worth the price of admission, ALWAYS. If you get a chance -- see Junior Brown.

Don't short yourself by thinking he plays only country. His guitar playing crosses to California surf (Ventures, etc.) to blues to country and he excels in all genres.

Phenomenal show! Birchmere is a great, comfortable venue.

I've wanted to see Junior live for over 20 years and finally got the chance at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA. If you love the guitar, you've got to see this guy. His band is tight and his wife has a great voice too. Don't sit too close unless you're hearing is already compromised.

Junior Brown proves again that he is the most talented, innovative, and creative guitarist in country music. Flying up and down the guitar neck, he left proverbial flames on his signature guit-steel while chatting up the audience in between songs. He stayed out afterward to meet all the fans and sign anything they brought or purchased. This is the 20th year he played the Birchmere and I know i won't miss another one.

Second time I had seen Junior at the Birchmere. Was concerned that time may have had taken its toll. But no fear. His voice was as strong and resonant as ever and he hasn't lost a bit of his hot guitsteel amazing licks! A really great show. The opener, Robert Bobby was also a most entertaining warm up. Gonna get a CD.

One of the most talented guitar players out there. Topped off with humorous songs about spouses, cars, driving with cell phones, and politicians. Great baritone voice.

I have seen Jr. Brown eight times, and the last two shows at the Variety Playhouse are the best I have seen. Jr.'s vocals are improved, and he seems happier touring with his wife Tanya Rae. If you have never seen Jr. Brown, get with the program and check out one of the most creative guitar players at a price that can't be beat.

Jr. sounds like the greats from the Grand Old Opry. He multi talented in singing, playing, laughing and including his beautiful wife in acoustical guitar. This was our second time to see Jr. and we will be back wherevere he shows up!

What can you say about Junior Brown? Always a great show and great fun. He is one of "won't miss' shows on my list. We were really impressed with the Roosevelts and would like to see them again.

Junior walked out on stage and began to play, and play, and play with barely a second's pause for applause. It was non stop junior at his best. I thought a lot of the guitar playing was just showing off, but perhaps that is just part of what makes Junior Junior. His mastery of the fret board is just amazing. He was all over that thing with lightning speed and deadly accuracy. Though Junior does mostly his own stuff, I'll bet he could do justice to any number of old, country tunes. I can easily imagine him doing a great job on some of George Jones' songs. All in all a very enjoyable performance. I plan on being there when he comes around again.

I really like Junior Brown and I like The Variety Playhouse. Junior played some new material as well as the familiar. It was all enjoyable. I'll try to see him again when he and his band return.

Junior Brown is an unique virtuoso. Tanya Rae Brown, his wife, is the hardest working rhythm guitarist I've ever seen. The warm-up act, "Slim Chance and the Convicts", should have stayed in prison; they were bland. Variety Playhouse left a dance floor in front of the stage, which I hate! Very few people danced, but so many stood in front of our (previously good) seats, that we had to move back in order to see the band while seated! Shame on Variety for this practice. But Junior more than made up for it

If you ever have a chence to see Junior Brown, do it. He is a guitar phenom and his music has great energy. His songs are a little slower induced with humor. See him on YouTube until you can catch him live. The Variety Playhouse is a great venue to see a band.

Junior Brown gives a great, live performance. If you like classic country music, you will really enjoy this show. Junior Brown has a great voice. It's a low, baritone voice, perhaps a little like Johnny Cash. He writes alot of his own songs which often contain humerous lyrics. They are of high quality. His big hit, of course, is "Highway Patrol" which he performs in an awesome manner. In addition to that, however, Junior Brown plays the guitar like NO ONE I have ever seen or heard! Bottom line, you will enjoy seeing and enjoying the music of Junior Brown!

just great! The first time I heard him live and I want to see him again very soon. He played a lot of new songs I did not know and it really did not matter, I liked them immediately.

The Birchmere was a wonderful venue! We were able to sit close to the stage and even shake hands with Junior Brown as he left the stage! Amazing! The show was great and the food and service was outstanding!!! I would recomend seeing any show at the Birchmere you can! I wish we lived closer :)

Completely entertaining. Junior plays guitar like no other!!!
