Norah Jones

Though born to sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar, Norah Jones has developed her own style of music most have dubbed jazz-informed pop. The singer, songwriter and pianist began with a splash - her 2002 debut “Come Away With Me” garnered eight Grammy Awards and earned diamond certification with well over 10 million copies sold nationwide.Jones has completed sold-out concerts and tours on most continents, with ticket buyers eager to hear her well-known singles, like “Don’t Know Why,” “Sunrise” and “Come Away With Me.” She’s also fronted a mostly-classic country covers band, The Little Willies.

Having Norah play at the Civic center was a great place to see and listen to such a wonderful singer/song writer. The sound was excelent and there wsn't a bad seat. Her new style is a little more electric than in the past, but she was great!. The new band she has put together is a true example of artistry. What a fun night!

Concert was wonderful! the seating at the midland consists of little more than folding chairs with a fancy covering. add that to the fact that unless you are in the front row of your seating tier, you will be forced to look around the heads of the people in front of you. i will not attend another function at the midlands.

The Midland is just beautiful! Our seats were behind sound booth, not so good. The opening act for Norah Jones was boring the girl was a big waste of time I almost wanted to boo her off stage. Then Jones took stage. Positives, her voice is so clear and soothing just like on all of her cds. enjoyed hearing all of her songs! Neg. she is no entertainer did not engage at all with fans very low key almost just doing her songs and moving from guitar to piano. No interaction what so ever. She has alot to learn about being in concert and giving the audiance a show for the ticket price. I felt like I was there just listening to her cds, no thrills of seeing a live artist. Save your $$$. till she learns how to be in concert and have her fans glad she was in town!!!

Norah and her band were great. We saw her about 5 years ago, when she was quite nervous and new to the touring scene. She has really gotten comfortable with performing. Loved her female back-up singer. They blended incredibly! Thoroughly enjoyed the concert. Thought the lighting, stage effects were awesome. We loved that she sang her new songs AND her older ones. Our seats were awful at the Midland. Paid almost $75 per ticket. Three rows in front of us were all on the same level as us, so we could see absolutely nothing. Don't get lower level seats at the Midland, unless you're in the fist 10 rows or so.

Either the event should have started a half hour earlier or the warm up band should have played for a half hour rather than an hour. I was there to see Nora not some group from Denton, Tx.

This was our 4th concert with Norah and our second time of seeing her at The Midland. She continues to dazzle with her stage presence and pitch-perfect voice. One of the few artists who sounds amazingly better live than on her albums. All due to her naturally gifted and skilled use of her amazing voice. She interacts with the audience in ways that add intimacy to the event and make you feel like she's really there to perform for you. She's an amazing artist and we rarely, if ever, miss an opportunity to see here if she's anywhere near our area.

Pretty good show. The lighting was great, but there was a constant source of feedback throughout the performance. This was pronounced during breaks in the music. Norah did not seem to get overly excited or play to the crowd, although she did address the crowd during the performance.

Frankly, I was astounded Norah Jones booked a night in Cow Town, as we don't see enough top shelf artists like her. Now I'm grateful she did. Ms Jones was friendly, funny, warm and charming, in addition to putting on a passionate, nuanced performance. You can certainly tell that music is her life and soul. My wife remarked twice that it was the best concert she had ever seen. The Midland is a superb venue - small enough to be able to see the band, adult beverages, and fine acoustics. If the floor was sloped a little more, so everyone could see the stage more easily, that would help. Overall, though, my favorite place in KC to catch a concert. Thank you very much for the wonderful evening, Ms. Jones. We will remember it fondly while listening to our CDs of your songs.

As a long time fan of Norah Jones I was expecting a wonderful show...I wasn't disappointed! One of the best concerts I've ever been to! The setting of the Midland Theatre seemed to enhance the beautiful ambiance coming from the stage. Add to that the sound of Norah's voice and it was a perfect combination! Hearing songs, not only from her current album, but also favorites from past albums made it a concert to remember!

Norah Jones was absolutely phenomenal, and the concert was "spot on". From her vocals, her band, the set and lighting, it was an incredible evening. I would see her again in a heart beat, and I can't remember a concert I've enjoyed this much. The same can't be said for MIdland by AMC though. Even though it's a beautiful venue, they should not be selling drinks throughout concerts such as this. The people getting up and down out of the seats going for drinks and to the bathroom, totally distracts from the performance and blocks the view for rows and rows of people behind them.

I had been waiting for Norah Jones to tour into the central part of the country since I discovered her music. The visit to Kansas City, the second stop on this tour, proved that my wait was worth my time. The Midland was a perfect venue for the talent. The strength of her voice proved to be more than a a technical recording gimick. The strength of the musicians working with Norah certainly was equal to the talent of the feature. Too me, from the opening song thru the final note of the concert, Norah Jones proved that the music is the primary message that her songs bring to the listener. Also, not being overly well versed in her musical background, I was surprised by her instrumental talent on guitar that was equaled by her work on the keyboard. To those that have not enjoyed the newest musical release from Norah, you will be waiting until she begins her most notable songs but that time spent will be just a wonderful warmup to someone that will meet your highest expectations. New songs, standard songs, fun solo dog (yes, dog) song, and even some cover songs will reward Norah's fans and those who simply enjoy a talented vocal artist.

I was at Live with Regis & Kelly on January 14th; my first time to the show and the first time I saw Nora Jones. I can not express how excited I was not to mention the beautiful voice that came from within the adorable Nora. There were 6 of us at the show and we could not stop talking about Nora along with Regis and Kelly; the event was a memorable one that will stay with me for the rest of my life. We are making plans to see Nora in NYC during her tour; also went out for the CD. While on our way home from NYC to NJ we stopped at a Friday's and played every song on the Juke Box by Nora Jones and danced around; thank you again Nora for a wonderful experience! Oh the sad part was; we left at 5:45am and I ran out the door without my camera, so I ended up with not 1 picture of Regis & Kelly nor NORA.:(

Norah was great and the band is way talented too! I loved hearing their new music (seems to be experimenting with some spacey funk sounds) and a few of her old favorites!! This was the first time I saw her live...and she sounds even better than her recordings. With her backup singer Sasha Dobson, their harmony gave me goose bumps. Awesome! Corinne Bailey Rae opened for Norah. I am a new fan! I loved her bright voice and light jazzy urban music. Overall, great night for live music and you can't beat the Red Rock's venue for spectacular sound and gorgeous views.

The 'new' Norah Jones took the stage without the Handsome Band, and completely took control on the Ryman. She has come back with her newest album "The Fall" after three albums in the softer jazz realm and has added some hauntingly awesome sounds. The concert was heavy with tracks from "The Fall," as would be expected, but that did not preclude any of the oldies as she pleased the audience with her whole career. The old songs did get a face lift, adding some additions from the new band members, all adding up to an unforgettable night of fantastic jazz.

What can I say? Do you guys out there really need a review of a Norah Jones concert? She is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL female vocalist in the world. Her voice is a truly gift from heaven: if angels have voice they speak like Norah. I'm an Elvis fan and they used to say that Elvis had a "velvet" voice..and I add, so does Norah: her voice is velvet, is soft, is delicate, is smooth, it's a suave wave cuddling you up in the night. And like Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash, she is a TRUE ORIGINAL. She invented a UNIQUE style which is hers and hers alone and can be recognized from the very first note. A few artists can do that; a few artist are so talented that can invent a unique style which can be immediately recognized, like the three greats that I mentioned above. And Norah is one of them. And the thought that she is still so young makes her accomplishments even the more amazing. I went to the concert dressed like Elvis, because I'm sure that if Elvis was here today he himself would be a huge fan of her, and maybe they would also record a duet album together. Norah's performances of Elvis'classics like "Are You Lonesome Tonight " in the Elvis Lives tv show of 2002 and of "Love Me" for the Viva Las Vegas tv show of 2008 were both superb and make me wish that Norah would make an album of the most beautiful Elvis ballads. The concert was fantastic. Of course she sung beautifully and she played even better, showing how talented she is, if there was any need at all! She played electric guitar, what I think was an Hammond Organ and of course the piano. Man her playing of "Sinking Soon" was AMAZING. The version of Don't Know Why with her alone at the piano accompained only by two vocalist was indescribebly beautiful. The encore song was pure spectacle. And she...SHE...was so cute and charming and again, beautiful and with that hair cut. What can I say...I LOVE her and after yesterday concert (which for me was the first) even more than ever. My only regret is that because she is a star I will never be to her anything more than a fan

I've seen a lot of acts that were produced to surround a pretty voice with a lot of talent, but Norah Jones certainly has enough talent and doesn't need to be fluffed up. Some of the best moments of the show were her solo at the piano. She is an amazing pianist as most people know, and she was able to captivate the entire hall all by herself at the piano. But for most of the night she played guitar and not just fake strumming. She pulled off several leads and definitely was orchestrating her band by giving them cues. Her voice of course very pleasant but doesn't overpower the whole band. The other musicians are also very entertaining in their own right. Sasha Dobson, who was the opening act, works well with Norah and plays a variety of instruments. A real pleasant evening of really good music.

Norah and her band was awesome. She is a very talented lady. The crowd treated her with the utmost respect. Sasha Dobson, her back up singer, doing the fifty minute warm up portion of the show was cute but a waste of time. No one, other than maybe her mother, was there to hear someone named Shasha Dobson sing. Norah mainly played newly released songs. Thing is, the crowd reacted more to her past hits. I only think she performed 3 maybe 4 of her older hits. The crowd wanted more. Norah was only on stage for about an hour and 20 minutes including ovations and oncore . My opinion is, they could have cut out a half hour entermission by bring Norah out at 8:00 PM, cut the Sasha Dobson portion out totally and let her do solos in the Norah Jones show, if they want to feature her at all. Put it this way, my 140.00 for 2 tickets was a poor spending judgement on my part for an hour and 20 minutes of someone I really wanted to spend more time with.

Norah Jones is not a performer. She is not a showman. She is an artist. Go to a concert of hers only if you are truly interested in her music. She will not tell stories, reveal private facts or talk to the audience in general. She has a sweet disposition and says 'thank you' quite a bit, but her real interaction with the crowd is through her music.

Norah Jones is incredibly talented. Her hauntingly romantic vocals will have you under her musical spell. I loved Mud Island, but an outdoor amphitheater did little for those of us who wanted to hear the notes of that amazing saxophonist. People talked like we were at some bar or outdoor restaurant...loud and disrespectful. Even a polite look back and smiling "shh" only caused more disruption. I really, really would have loved the concert more had it been at the Orpheum where the ambiance commands classier behavior from the concert goers.

Her voice is even better live. Might just have to start attending concerts in other cities though. Have you people never been to a concert before? I would say 20% of the crowd came in after the show started. This is not a metal show where we can hear over your obnoxious voices!

Norah and the musicians she picked for accompanyment were all great musicians who got to flex their skills throughout the concert. The band overpowered Norah's vocals so much that you couldn't understand the words and I know the lyrics to all her songs! I'm assuming the people in the row in front of my party was also disappointed because they never shut up! I give high praise to the backing band. And Noras vocals were better than good but she lacks stage presence and doesn't connect with her audience. If you're a huge fan like my wife I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If you're a casual fan like myself then you could probably take it or leave it. Not only is Norah Jones an incredibly talented singer/musician/composer, but the acoustics in the Ohio Theater made her sound better live than humanly possible. I have enjoyed her music for many years and was very excited to see her live. The 'backup' band was no better than a garage band. People talked thru their entire set. Then it turned out, that was Norah's band. Her voice is beautiful and her words have meaning. Frankly, she could have been sitting in a room rehearsing for all the effort she put into her performance. She did not engage the audience in any way. The few songs she sang that people recognized and began to sing with her, she sang in such a way it discouraged participation. We sat through many songs that were boring to both me and the people around me. After the second recognizable song, I turned to my friend who was on her cell and pointed to the people walking out in droves The only worse concert I have attended was Toby Keith and he was drunk through the entire concert.

Norah is very talented. That being said, she should add another facet to her repertoire... to start the concert closer to the stated start time. Her backup band noodled around from 8 to 8:40 or so, then left the stage, house lights came up, and she didn't start until a little after 9. On a Wednesday night, when people have to go to work on Thursday, this is inconsiderate to audience members. One person behind us actually fell asleep and was snoring. Must have been past his bedtime. Out of the 15 songs or so, she played, there were only 3 from her debut album "Come Away With Me", and I was hoping for more... like the title song. She didn't sing it.

Norah Jones has a unique and beautiful voice as evidenced by her top hits. However, more than 1/2 of this concert did not play into her strengths, rather it bent more on country twang and instrumental offnote (not in a good way) jazz. There were even numerous people who walked out only 15 minutes into Norah Jones set. Luckily or sadly...we were finally rewarded with Norah's true talents the last 20 minutes before the encore. Was it worth the money? NO! Was it worth the time? NO

If you love Norah Jones' music, you will love listening to her live. Her voice is amazing and her talent shines through out the show. The show is somewhat jazzy and she performs some of the old plus some of her newer music. She performed a couple of songs of just her playing piano and singing which was just as captivating if not more than anything else in the show. The only thing I would have like more, would be able to see her in a small intimate setting of a small jazz club, but she is too big of a star for that. But her voice sounds as good live as any of her recordings. I would go see her again!

Nora is so talented. I was so excited & looking forward to her concert. I purchased 2 tickets as soon as I saw they were on sale. This was one of the most inspiring and entertaining events I have been to in a very long time. Nora is so very talented. Her band is amazing. Please bring her back, I will be back.

Norah was excellent. Some people in the audience blurted out some stupid things but otherwise a good venue and Norah sounded amazing! This was her playlist that night: Everybody knows I've got to see you again out on the road Sinkin' soon Tragedy It's gonna be The long way home Puss N boots -don't know what it means Stuck Chasing Pirates Peace It's a wonderful time for love Don't know why Little broken hearts Painter song December Don't be denied Flipping Carry On Sunrise Creepin' In Come Away With Me

Great show! Fantastic band! Stage presence( light show) was a really nice touch. Nora makes you feel like at times that you could be sitting in her living room. Very down to earth. She talked about shopping in town during the day before the show. So cool. The only thing I was disappointed in was the opening act. She is a very talented young lady, but I felt like she was mimicking Nora. It was boring.

I've waited to hear Norah Jones for a few years. I am in love with her silky voice which has the ability to calm any beastly emotions. Her talent as a songwriter and musician is impressive. How is she so subtly endearing yet carries such a knockout punch with her voice? After acknowledging Dallas as home (she went to Booker T. Washington Arts Magnet) Norah began with a few nice numbers from her new album 'Little Broken Hearts'. Then she launched into a variety of goodies from her entire catalog. Her acoustic rearrangements of 'Don't Know Why' and 'Come Away with Me' were my favorites. Norah Jones is as enjoyable as I could have hoped for. The only negative was McFarlin Auditorium on the SMU campus. What a dinosaur! Obviously built for hobbits, McFarlin is a challenge. I was in the first balcony with no leg room. I felt like I was in a capsule heading to the moon. I will avoid this venue in the future. But, thank God, Ms. Jones voice calmed the beast within me.

I was going to give her 4 stars, just because, then realized I had no reason to give the 5 stars. She played a perfect mix of new and old, had a beautiful stage, a fluid set and of course that amazing voice. Brilliant. So glad I finally got to go!!!

Corey Chisel opened the show at 7PM, he was great! We felt bad for them because it was like a bar scene, constant people being ushered in for 45minutes, loud and laughing groups of people toward the back of the house....would have liked to have listened to more without all the interuptions! Then Norah came out at 8PM, her new disc? not sure what direction shes going, but it's a direction we would not buy! Love her older songs, would have liked more of that Norah!

This was the third time I attended a Norah Jones concert. The Hollywood Bowl was sold out and the crowd was enthusiastic. Norah's performance was less than inspiring. She did not bond with the crowd and played too many new songs trying to promote her new album. She wasn't bad but she wasn't very good. I have been to the Hollywood Bowl many times and never witnessed what happened before her encore. So many people got up to leave you would have thought the event was over. Masses of people headed for the exits and left the venue. They probably missed the best of the concert as she played her best during the encore. Maybe she was not feeling well or maybe she was just tired. I will not be in a hurry to attend her next local event.

Norah Jones, under the stars, at the Santa Barbara Bowl was a kind of celestial event of its own. She is an extraordinary singer, with a unique blend of power, earthiness, mellow soul and plaintive phrasing. On this tour she is backed by a band of exquisite players who can easily slide from driving rock, bluesy funk and beyond. There were moments when the band wandered into a kind of exploratory atmosphere of high energy improvisation, where Norah's rich voice was the grounding and tether that made it work. It was, to my amateur ears, contrapuntal. This is a different Norah than some of her earlier, softer work, but it is thrilling and superb. Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons who opened were a special treat with a country and folk lilt. He's a great lyricist and I hope we see and hear more from him. A quick observation-too many people seem increasingly self absorbed and rude. There were entirely too many people texting during the concert and too many of the crowd from the upfront and center seats thought nothing of entering, after Norah had begun. Rude behavior on both counts!

Norah Jones is a top quality musician. She brings a wonderful energy into this life, especially on the stage. Impressively she finds her way around a variety of instruments and has one of the best voices. Her newest album is very good. The band she is currently touring with is amazing. Every song she plays is beautiful. Her concert at summer stage in NYC was one of the best i have experienced. Anyone who cares for music should check out Norah Jones and get ready to be blown away :)

Norah Jones was great. Unfortunately, the tickets started the concert would start at 6 p.m. However, the gates to the field did not open until 6 p.m. An unannounced band started at 7 p.m. and played for 35 minutes. So with the stage setup, Norah Jones did not start until 8 p.m. Unless you really want a good seat, show up late to Central Park Summerstage concerts.

Norah's voice was amazing as per usual, with an angelic and jazzy quality it was definitely worth the money. The only thing I didn't like about this concert was the venue suddenly insisting that we had to stand. All other concerts I've been to at the Summer Stage you're allowed to sit on blankets. That's the whole point of being outside in Central Park for a concert. This time they made everyone pick up their blankets and stand. It ruined the feel of the concert a bit, and muddied the mellowness.

Excellent venue for Norahs music. Great sound. Had excellent center 9th row seating. Easy access to beer, bathroom, merchandise. Opening act was good match for Norah and Norahs backing band is AWESOME. That backing band is talented and stars in there own right. Only issue I had was almost no good NOrah items for sell. No posters. No mens cool shirts etc.

Norah Jones was awesome. It's my second time seeing her live in concert. She never disappoints. She puts on a great show. My favorite part is always when she sits at the piano and it's just her beautiful voice and the piano. I think she sounds a lot like some of the 40's style of singers. So smooth and relaxing. I bought her newest CD, I can't get enough of her music. My two brothers and my son joined me as we are all Norah Jones fans. The only difference between this concert and the one two years ago was that she had an opening act the last concert who was wonderful in her own right and this year it was just her band that played for half an hour before she came out. May I make a suggestion, next time either have a singer for an opening act or don't have any opening act and just start the show. I didn't like them by themselves.

Norah is an amazing musician. The concert was great. However, she had her band open for the first 30 minutes, and to be honest, it sounded more like elevator music. Because of the venue, my husband and I thought that she would start directly and not have an opener. That was the only draw back. The guy next to me was nodding off and others seemed distracted. Other than that, it was a wonderful concert!

The Norah Jones concert was amazing! The number and the talent of the band and associated musicians was incredible. Norah's voice is wonderful, so distinctive. We loved the variety of the songs she sang, and had not previously realized how versatile she is musically, not only on the piano, but on several different guitars. Overall, we were thrilled with her performance. We loved that when Norah came out for the encore, she sang two songs rather than one as many performers do, and then going off stage and waiting for more audience applause before coming back out to sing a second one. We did think that the half-hour intermission between the lead-in performers and Norah was way too long. Fifteen minutes would have been much better. I told my wife (who gave me the concert as a gift), that I tremendously enjoyed the concert, but I came away feeling like I did not have a connection with Norah, as she said very few words and so did not develop a rapport with the audience. She could really benefit by taking a stage presence course from Livingston Taylor.

The concert began with several instrumentals, followed by 30 minutes of "intermission"... Norah finally appeared. There was no program to explain the band or any explanation for the delay. This put the entire show in a bad light. Folks were wondering what the deal was. Very disappointing from this aspect of the production. Once Norah was on stage, she was fantastic. Backing music very good, lighting and special effects very good. Really bad taste from the first hour, which most would say was wasted!

She was great...Sound board operator was not. The Best was when it went acoustic at the end and also the trio of piano, drums and bass. When the full group was together the keyboards and sometimes the lead guitar would be so loud we couldn't hear Norah or make out what she was singing.

Having been blessed in my older years to attend a number of Norah Jones Concerts, I'm always amazed at how she top's what I'd thought was the best show ever, with another even better performance....for music fans I don't think it's possible to ever tire of seeing and hearing her make music...so guys and gals...while she seems so super human...I'm sure she's flesh and blood and can't go round giving so much to so many.,,all the time..so get your tickets while you can...as June 2017 marks a year of performances all around the world that makes my head spin and tires me out sitting in the recliner. Let's hope she takes a break, and hope you get to see her soon.

1st time to see Norah and so excellent the rain and cold seemed forgotten for most of the show. She's a sweet talent who's sound was clear and played perfectly. Her band talent was a great match for hers. Come Away with Me was the right song to hear on a night like that, warmed it up. She's not one i want to miss when she comes again.
