Jazzin' At the Shedd All Access Pass

Got there early like the reviews said. You have to go back and forth at different tables to get wrist bands, still not sure why one person couldn't just check your ticket & ID. EVERYONE was saving Tables & Chairs even though it was not ALLOWED! People Smoking ALL Over the Place stairway blocked off so you had to go all around for the restrooms. The beverage lines were long but the wait was not bad. Band was not real jazzy but it was decent. ! It was have been well worth the price if there were more seating and if they had someone picking up garbage!

We expected much more, but then again the price was only $18.00. The tickets showed seating so we expected some sort of organized presentation of the music, but this was not the case. There was only one band worth listening to and it was outside on the patio where it was so croweded that it was not very relaxing. The atmosphere was more of a nightclub than a jazz concert. The food and drink was extra and very expensive for what it was--mostly fried appetiziers and snacks. We were very disappointed. The description on the web site should be more detailed of what this really is and what to expect.

It was a really enjoyable night. The music and atmosphere was romantic.

Shedd was cool (temperature and vibe) inside. It almost felt like the fish were moving in time to the music. There were really no crowds. We could actually linger at exhibits without being jostled by rambunctious children as is the norm during the day.

The music, sublime. Drinks, even sublimer. Jellies, absolutely the sublimest.

Well, for starters, I had trouble getting to the Shedd Aquarium bacause I didn't see any signs pointing to the aquarium. For all the other landmarks in the area, I assumed there would be something pointing me in the right direction. Out of towners should get clear directions befor heading out. Next, the food that was offered was overpriced and not very good for what I paid. I ordered a chicken jumbalaya served on a paper plate with mushy rice. Drinks were overpriced as well. I had a beer bacause I couldn't trust bartenders to make them worth the money. Next, the venue was drastically over sold. There was no place to sit to hear the band. My guest and I had to eat our meal in a cafeteria away from the band. The crowd was virtually elbow to elbow. Next, the crowd seemed to be there for a night out and not for the music because most of the people talked during the whole thing. I never really got to even listen to the band. If not for the aquarium and my friend to make the night enjoyable, it would've been a waste. If you're going to attend, choose the band carefully and pick one you think may draw a moderate crowd if the music is important to you. If you just want to hang out, just go to the aquarium and eat & drink somewhere else.

Going on wednesdays to Shedd Aquarium is a great option! Live jazz, the aquarium, amusement and nice environment. You can grab a drink and watch Cgicago skyline from the patio, beautiful! To end the night well, fireworks from Navy Pier!

I took my sister for her 50th Birhtday, after work and we had a beautiful time!!! Absolutely marvelous time. I been to the Shedd about 3 times this year with the kids and grand kids. But the view and the people were beautiful. Would reccomend to everyone to to!!

The overall night was ok. It was a bit more crowded than I was expecting but not too bad. My real complaint was that the meal and bar areas were cash only. That would have been ok except the one ATM in the building was broken.

Jazzin' At the Shedd--Great music, great aquarium. We have been to Shedd three times--twice during the day and now Jazzin' At the Shedd. There weren't as many people at Jazzin' as we had during the day. It was nice not to have to fight the crowds to see everything.

I had a really nice time. Nice atmosphere, good music, food wasnt bad either. I suggest that if you want a seat outside on the terrace, get there before 6p. The tables go fast! I am going to try to make the next one. You can't beat it on a Wednesday night!

We had a great time. Will do it again. Everyone was so nice.

Fantastic! it was great to walk around the aquarium at night with a drink in hand listening to all the jazz and getting to see the Belugas!!

Great experience! Beautiful weather and beautiful views of theakefromt and skyline. The jazz was smooth and upbeat! The ability to tour the shedd and view different things was good as well. Food and drinks a tad pricey but hey.... You're downtown so that's to be expected. This will be a yearly event for my wife and I!

Shedd + live music + F&B= best night of my week in Chicago! Best value, too!

This event is awesome and I would recommend all types to go. I had not been to the aquarium since I was a kid and this was a perfect way to relive my childhood while still being able to have a drink and meet tons of other adults. The fireworks were perfect to end the night with. Can't wait to go again.

Music was good. Food tasty. Access to exhibits was wonderful. Fireworks top off a fabulous night.

It was fun, jus wish I knew what time they were going to turn out the fish lights. Would have done a little more looking around earlier. Not a lot of places to sit either.

I love the shed. But made the mistake of bringing my kids to jazzin at the shed. To many drunk people. Bumping into them and standing forever at things so no one else can see.

maybe my expectations were too high, but i found the jazzin at the shed to be a let down. there were way too many people for a tuesday night jazz band at the shed, and especially so many little kids. i had figured this would be an upper scale jazz band with drinks at the shed, but instead the drink and food lines were unbareable and the exhibits were packed. the stingray touch and other exhibits that stayed open late were awesome and so much fun. overall id recommend this event, but be prepared for it to be like a typical weekend at the shed

this was a great date night. lots of fun drinking, seeing the animals, listening to music, and people watching. Decent food and drinks but the best part was the animals and seeing the fireworks from navy pier.

Fantastic idea by the Shedd! Great evening and I highly recommend! My only recommendation to the Shedd: please keep the oceanarium and other exhibits open until 9:00 or 9:15. Too much time between exhibits closing and fireworks. But a great way to spend the evening. Why not offer on Saturdays too? I would not have gone if I didn't happen to take the day off from work (in the burbs) Wednesday night is not convenient for working suburban people.

Very expensive because nothing is included and over priced! Food was only fair, drinks expensive, not enough seating so we had to stand the whole time and very long lines!

I really had a good time at Jazzin' At the Shedd. For the price you can't beat, being able to have access to almost the whole venue, being able to touch the sea animals and spending time with friends. My only recommendation would be to arrive early for seating on the out side and then maybe rotate as small groups if you plan to stay for the fireworks.

The event was wonderful but---we were on the outside patio & could barely hear the music....did they not play much???

I think this could really be a wonderful event. The Shedd is open so you can walk around and enjoy the venue. The problem is, if you do that, then you don't have a seat when you go outside to enjoy the music. We arrived at 5 p.m., walked through the Shedd for about 45 minutes. We got food and drinks and went outside to enjoy the band. Unfortunately that never happened, because there were no seats available. So if you go, get there much earlier than 5 p.m., if you want to walk inside so you can get outside and save a seat before 5 p.m. if you want to listen to the music and enjoy the fireworks. Also, the tickets make it appear that you have a assigned seat, but you really don't.

We really enjoyed the new Sting Ray touch exhibit and it was great not having to wait in line for anything!!! The atmosphere was great -the music was a bit loud and not really my taste but that's ok.

What a great opportunity to tour the exhibits - minus the crowds. Food/drinks were a little pricey but overall a really fun night! Would definitely do again.

It could have been a really nice event but it was really crowded with limited seating. It was also hard to hear the music if you weren't very close. May attempt to go again later in the summer hoping to have a smaller crowd.

Love Jazzin at the Shedd but we arrived at 5:05 and all the upstairs shaded seats were being held. Went to lower level and got a table with friends. By 6:00 it was so packed we couldn't hear the music in lower level. Our friends came for the first time and were very disappointed. Their comment was " why no music, we thought there would be a Jazz Band"? We told a waiter and not sure if he talked to someone but the music finally was loud enough to hear. Our friends are in their 30's so no they are not older and hard of hearing. Other than no music for 2-1/2 hrs it was a nice night and the staff as usual was great.

It only seems appropriate that we entered an event at the Shedd completely drenched from a Chicago early evening summer storm. This was a well-organized and well-attended event. I went with 2 friends on July 3rd and we really enjoyed getting to see the exhibits and animals with a manageable crowd as well as being in the perfect spot to watch some of the 4th of July weekend fireworks being shot off at Navy Pier. Drinks and food were very pricy, but otherwise a great event and something that I'd definitely recommend!

It was a great time to hang out with friends, hear some good music and have good food.

This was my first time at this event but definitely won't be my last. Nice music, nice crowd, tasty snacks. The weather was perfect, the view of the skyline was amazing!

Great way to hear good music and enjoy the aquarium at a leisurely pace.

This was my first time going and I LOVED IT! So much to do, relaxing, family friendly and even great for date night or ladies/gentlemen night out. I watched one of the trainers feed the fish inside the tank. I was able to pet some of the fish....(first time). AND the Jambalaya was ON POINT! My fiance and I was able to share it and get full. Whoever cooked it, did an excellent job! To end the night we were able to cuddle up and watch the fireworks. Truly an unforgettable night. Loved it and will be going back. :)
