The New Deal was amazing, but since it was a late night event which followed the Disco Biscuits concert at the Nokia, the show was too short for us. The Disco Biscuits ended at 3, so we got to BB Kings around 3:30ish. That really only gave us a little over an hour to enjoy the New Deal. They should have played more sets so that they could have played until 6 am.

The New Deal was awesome, and I also thought Scroll's set was amazing, and The Cosmic Dust bunnies were pretty good as well. I was a little upset because the original line up was Dust Bunnies opening, and as a result I nearly missed Scroll's set...not sure why the order changed. The show would have flowed much better in it's original order...that's all. Love The Sinclair too! One of my favorite venues in town! Would love to see more electronic music acts here!

I will start this off in a negative manner, which is no reflection on the band, but the unorganization and lack of proper planning on the account of the venue, BB Kings, made for a HUGE clusterfvck to get into the venue. It was a miserable experience for everyone involved and left hundreds out in the cold, shoulder to shoulder for an hour and a half longer than the expected door time Now, on to the show. Once inside, the lounge like venue had a great atmosphere. Everyone was ready to party and the band did not disappoint. The New Deal delivered with two solid sets of music creating sounds that if you weren't getting down to, there was clearly something wrong with you. They brought energy non-stop from start to finish and I would see them again anytime they are within a few hours drive. Great band. Recommend to all

The show was awesome, but... The Ticketmaster tickets said show starts at 6:00PM. We took a half day at work and traveled 2 1/2 hours to get there on time. The place was dead and we were told the following: doors open at 7:30 opening band starts at 8:00 headliner starts at 9:30 So, we tried to figure out what to do for 3 1/2 hours to kill time. Pretty pissed we took off work when we didn't need to in the end! GET WITH THE PROGRAM ALREADY!!!

I've seen the New Deal five times before, and every time they blow my mind more than before. Their use of improvisation, experience with working the crowd and constant dance beat combine to make the best dance nights of your lives. I've seen them before at the 9:30 Club (D.C.), Bourbon Street (Baltimore) and All Good Music Festival (W.Va.), and this was my first time at the Electric Factory. At any untzy/jam band show, you're going to find some very interesting characters, but Philly/N.J./Pa./Electric Factory upped the creepster factor for me. There were at least 8 dudes with their shirts off - look dude, I know you're warm, and sure, you've worked out, I get it, but leave your clothes on please I do not want to touch you. There were also only two bars open - three bartenders total - for a huuuuge crowd. The bartenders were also checking IDs - rather than them having been checked at the bar - which also slowed down the wait. I asked the bar tender why they didn't have more security at the front of the building and he said it was because they didn't sell that many tickets upfront so they assumed it would be a smaller crowd. So, The New Deal, you guys rocked. More of your fans just need to buy their tickets upfront (which, unfortunately, is of course more expensive). This way, more security can be in place (which equals less sweaty backs), more bars can be open (which equals less of a wait) and maybe they could have opened up more space (which equals less of a chance of running into sweaty backs).

I LOVE the new deal. They played great minus a stupid kylie minogue song but whatever. This year I've been particularily impressed so since I've seen them play OUT OF THIS WORLD this summer, I can't give them a full 5 stars for this show. However that doesnt mean they played bad, I've just seen em do better! Northern lights is a weird venue in a shopping center but it was a lot of fun. I think the first set was better than the second. I've heard people complain that they dont like the venue because it gets too loud and sound bad but in my opinion tND can never be too loud! Over all I had a lot of fun new deal is a real dance party and always worth it no matter how far!

I really do not like Northern Lights and the fact that the New Deal was playing that venue was a tough call for me ( if it would be worth it to see this show there) but I made the decision to go to the concert, and THANK GOD I DID. The New Deal has the best energy, it was literally impossible for me to stop moving, the crowd was incredibly positive. i truly didnt stop smiling the entire time, and i carried that glow into the next few days. they are TIGHT and so talented.

If you like techno/house/trance/electronica and have never seen talented musicians play this type of music with REAL INSTRUMENTS then you must see this band. This was my 4th New Deal show and it never gets old. Always a good time. Future Rock was good too!!

Silo Effect was amazing as usual. That 1 guy absolutely blew my mind. Not only is he musically gifted, but the science behind is instrument is mind blowing. Absolutely worth the price of admission. The new Deal was amazing as well. It was a none stop dance party from the beginning to the end. Please bring all of these bands back soon. And the DJ LaBeat between sets was not only a great time, but mad the experience that much better

First time at Park West. Smooth layout, plenty of room to dance party and mingle. New deal did there thing and what a great thing it is! Smooth transisions to sets and they responded beautifly to an enquore request from the fans. Place was packed but very mangable. So many different people who would normally never talk to one another coming together for one passion! The New Deal > Great

I enjoyed this concert as much as I could. The band played 3 or 4 songs and the rest was improv. The crowd was dancing non-stop all night. The encore reminded me of why I came to the show and will keep coming back for more. The venue was Park West in Chicago and is still one of my favorites.

This was easily one of the top 3 shows of the past year. We had a great table at the venue with enough space to boogie all night while not being bumped into by other people. The New Deal just threw down and that Technobeam they played that night was one of the best jams I have ever seen in person. The only down part was the fact that the majority of the crowd were highschoolers but I was so into the show it really didn't bother me at all.

The New Deal never lets down. Non-stop dance beats and great electronica for a good 2 hours. I have seen this band about 10 times and will see them again. Park West on the other hand.... Way over priced drinks, tough to find parking (usually), and on this night the club was way oversold. They should have opened the balcony and eased the floor traffic. Took 20 minutes to get a drink both times I was at the bar. Have seen three shows there and they never seem to have it quite right.;

The New Deal were incredible. The Fillmore in Silver Spring is a great venue. The opening band (some wu-tang spin off or something) seemed musically unrelated. It was like opening a Jazz Concert with Death Metal. Completely unrelated in style and genre. I would think an opening band would share something stylistically with the main act. This was not the case.

BB King could not handle the mass of people that they sold tickets to. The entry into the venue took an excessive amount of time and was completely disorderly. Inside the venue, the lines for bar and bathroom were huge. This event was clearly oversold. However, all said and done, The New Deal rocked!

The venue was very disorganized. Doors didn't open until over an hour after they were scheduled so the show started late. Also, the venue was overcrowded - too many tickets were sold to this event. The New Deal played an excellent set though. Everyone's feet were moving throughout the night.

The New Deal had a jam-packed B.B. King Lounge spending the first hours of 2012 in the best way possible: Sweating with, dancing to and loving this improv band. tND were on their game on their last-ever U.S. show. They were laughing and smiling and communicating with each other the whole time. Darren kept us dancing and kept us updated on the mic. Jamie kept the recognizable melodies (far more 'songs' or concrete, named melodies than in past shows I've seen) flowing. Dan was earning his center-stage position with some killer bass grooves. B.B. Kings has a great layout for bands: Since it's so wide, more people can feel like they have a front-row or close-to-the-band seat. But the stage is kind of short, so the light show wasn't as inventive or musical as I have seen in the past. Doors were also supposed to open at 1, but we didn't get in until 2 and tND didn't start until 2:40. Luckily tND fans are the BEST and it wasn't too freezing and everyone was happy, and the band kept playing for more than two hours until 5am. I love NYC. I teared up as the show ended. When will I ever experience something like this again? I brought a friend who experienced her first and last New Deal show in the same night, and after taking two trains back to our friend's house to crash, we ran into two other New Deal fans and had a pizza with them. At 6am. People make the music. THANK YOU NEW DEAL! Thank you Canada for sharing them with us!

Im a huge new deal fan i been seeing them several times a year for the past 8 years and this show was probably the worst due to the fact that it was way oversold... it was sold out at bbkings last year NYE and this year it felt like there was 33% more people there. Theres no way the same amount of tickets were released. it was disgusting how many people were bumping into each other. As far as the show the new deal rocked as always

With the exception of The New Deal, the bands seemed to play at only partial capacity in comparison to their North Coast presentations. The venue is intimate and the lights from the bar area are slightly distracting. I would only recommend attending this venue if you can purchase a private balcony.

I'm sure the New Deal was awesome, they always are. My complaint is having a ticket in my hand stating a showtimes of 10pm and having the ONLY listed band on the ticket not start until 1 am. To have shown up early so my pregnant wife and I could have a seat and see a band we've been following for years and not even see the act is ridiculous. The DJ was Horrible and took up over an hour... I'm all for opening bands, but if they're not mentioned on the ticket and then you shove another crappy DJ in there, ruining our last opportunity to see theDeal that pisses me off...

Great night with some awesome performers. Sub Swara started it out right getting the crowd moving, then OTT with his downtempo kept us enthralled until it was time for the main attraction. One of my fav bands who I've seen for over ten years, so they will be missed. Lots of energy from both the crowd, and the band as they played favs like Octobong, technobeam, and VL tone. I have been to roughly ten live music concerts this year and have seen some truly incredible live performances, but The New Deal at the National was definitely one of the highlights of my year so far. I had not really heard of them until one of my friends mentioned them a few weeks before the concert, but after hearing the band was breaking up, I had to see them live. I was at first skeptical because youtube and itunes made their music sound really repetitive and bland, but seeing them live was a whole different experience and it was awesome. Everyone needs to see The New Deal. I was stunned that there were only three guys making the sounds I was hearing. Most of the bands I have listened to have had at least four members playing so this was a very unique experience. Not only that, but the really distinguishing feature from the other bands I have listened to was that The New Deal played mostly improvised songs which added an extra layer of creativity and enjoyment. Of the songs I recognized, it sounded like a part of the song would be played and then another song or part of a song (probably just pure improvisation) would be played before returning back to the beat of the original song. With only a drummer, a bassist, and a keyboardist, The New Deal created a unique symphony of sounds that was upbeat and really intense. Throughout the show, I noticed there was a lot repetition and looping in the sounds (keyboard mostly), but these repetitions and loops helped build up to the highest tempoed and loudest parts of the show. In addition, the drums usually had a very defined, but simple beat almost like a drum machine. I am not entirely sure, but it seemed like there was always one instrumentalist playing a very steady back beat and the other two were just making up beats and sounds on top that ended up synchronizing very well together. The New Deal is a perfect example of minimalist musical characteristics; there was lots of repetition, a steady beat, and additive processes (and many more characteristics). The New Deal is a really awesome addition to postrock music and it is really going to suck when they break up after the summer. I am going to Camp Bisco music festival this summer and I really can t wait to see you guys again. You better kill it! Thanks for a truly awesome and unforgettable show!

I've seen The New Deal over a dozen times and they have the heart and the energy to play 2+ hours... the crowd gets ramped up and they do too! But the other night at Royale I didn't feel like anybody had time to get fully pumped because the venue had a curfew of like 11:15pm. It's so weird because when that place was the Roxy they would regularly allow shows to go til 12:30 or 1am. So I was very disappointed that the dance party only lasted about an hour and 20 minutes. I think the New Deal guys were disappointed too. What's up with that Royale!?!?

The show itself was excellent - you can't go wrong with The New Deal, if you're a fan of live-breakbeat-progressive-house music..... I'm writing this, however, because BB Kings Blues Club, despite having held this annual Late Night NYE party at least 2 other times that I can recall, was set up as such that only 5 people could enter at a time, because there was ONE PERSON taking tickets. The tickets said "doors at 1am, show at 1:30am". Despite arriving at 1:20am, my friends and I were not permitted to enter the venue until 2:50am. By this time, The New Deal was almost finished with its first set. The thing is, its not like anybody did anything wrong. As far as I could see, the line to get in the club was orderly, and calm. this falls ENTIRELY on BB Kings. How could any venue allow their patrons to wait outside in the cold for nearly 2 hours while the show they paid GOOD MONEY to see was being performed. Utterly PATHETIC
