I like him as an actor but not in this category. Not funny and sometimes just offensive (and not funny) with clear agenda. Felt like he did not want to be there, just needed to...as he implied himself. Very sad! People in this area are very different from the Hollywood or New York artsy crowd and hw could not relate. Too bad. We wish him well in his retirement!

Seemed Martin Short was just going through the motions reusing old material and schtick....wasn't terrible, but not the highest quality.

Martin Short at the Newport Yachting Center was hilarious. I love this guy. The only negatives had to do with the venue: the chairs were narrow, uncomfortable, and too close to one another, there was a strange spotlight reflection emanating from the piano on the stage, making it uncomfortable to look at the stage for a good twenty minutes, and the show started about forty minutes late. But as I said, Marty Short was great.

I looked forward for weeks to see Martin Short at the Newport Yachting Center. Funny, but seemed rushed and predictable. His video montage was pleasant and brought back characters that I had forgotten about, but I could have just rented the movie or dug out old SNL reruns. His singing was good, but loud. I enjoyed the Three Amigos skit and Martin talking to Karen Adams. I didn't expect to be sitting in uncomfortable folding chairs in an erected car port type of tent.

I really enjoyed Martin Short at the Newport Yachting Center. His new stand up material was very good. However, his bringing back some of his old characters was really outstanding. The screen that showed some clips from his previous endeavors was often used to introduce the next sequence of his act. This really kept the flow of the night going. His interaction with local newswoman Karen Adams was hysterical. All in all, it was a great time and it proved once again that laughter is the best medicine.

I never thought of Martin Short as a singer! But the skits that he did with song were great! It was nice to see our "Old Friends" of characters that only Martin Short can do. He still has it and it was great to see him in person and relive wonderful memories.

Martin Short Hmmm, Some times funny. There was nothing original in his performance. He relied on video clips to reaquaint his audience with his "schtik" I was disappointed with his lack of new material, What was up with the Karen Adams thing anyway?? It was a beautiful night though...

Martin Short was unbelievable! He's still got it! He's so talented and showed why he has been so popular for so long. We saw quite a variety of the characters he has portayed over the years and his wit was sharp. It was very entertaining and full of energy. His voice is still flawless as he even sang a few comical songs. I'd love to see him again!

Martin is an unbelievable talent. He has an insurmountable amount of energy. We sat in the mezzanine....3rd row. The skits where Martin was a little wild (maybe improvising), we had trouble hearing all that was said. He had a pinned microphone that may not have been held perfectly in place. We missed a lot of sentences. When we watched video clips of Martin, that were very entertaining, the volume may have been a little loud making the sound bounce around in a hard to hear fashion. Other than that the show was great! Thanx Martin....Fix the sound!!

The only funny parts were the video clips. He basically had no act other than showing clips of old characters or movie highlights and then playing one of those characters on stage. Ed Grimley not funny anymore and his Jiminy Glick interview with the phantom gourmet lame-o was tired and forced.

Last night's performance at the Wilbur was, hands down, the best show my husband and I have ever attended anywhere. Martin is, nothing short of being, one of the most amazing entertainers ever. He literally did it all. He sang, with a vocal range that sent chills down my spine. His impersonations were dead on. He had several costume changes, during which time footage of him in his various characters appeared on a huge screen on stage. He went down into the audience! This guy simply does not age and his energy level is like a lightning bolt in a house of mirrors. He did an audience participation segment that was hysterical. The theatre should have distributed Depends shields upon entry. I truly thought I'd be lucky if I saw him do a few characters from his career, but I don't think he missed one! I hope he tours regularly; colleges should bring him in to perform as the crowd really ranged in age and it appeared that age had no boundary in appreciating this tremendous entertainer's natural ability to make people laugh. My ribs hurt from laughing so much when I left the show! Do NOT miss the opportunity if he comes to a venue near you. Truthfully, I'd travel far and wide to see him perform again. He's worth every penny.

What can I say, I love Martin short, I see all his movies, I watch him whenever he is on a late night show, and I really laugh at everything he says and does, and I read and truly enjoys his book, so naturally when it was announced he would be performing at the theater at westbury, I bought tickets and was so looking forward to seeing him. To put it mildly, I felt sorry for him! The energy and likeability is there, the material, not so. It's obvious that he has some issues with Chevy chase that are years old, but still fresh in his mind! I personally don't want to hear about it. He did go into characters, the first one was him in a nude body suit with things drawn on it, it was an embarrassment! We would have gotten up to,leave at that point, but we were in the middle of the row in the front! Next came Ed grimly, awful, followed by jiminy glick, interviewing the famous (?) owner of a LI comedy club, so bad that even he knew it was bad! Sorry Martin, I truly think you are a fantastic comedian, maybe you just need better writer, and someone to be honest with you!

I absolutely loved how he incorporated the videos from his many characters, both film and Saturday Night Live. All of our favorite characters that he has created were part of the show, especially Ed Grimley! Loved the interaction between him and Jeff the piano player. So funny. So smart. So silly. So perfect in what the show's intention was - to make us sit in a darkened theater, forget all our cares and woes and laugh our heads off. Thank you so much Martin Short for delivering your unique brand of humor in a way that let us all feel that it is the most important thing to you. Martin Short has an illustrious comedy repertoire and though I was unfamiliar with some of it, he had me smiling and laughing all night long. He's a terrific character actor, song-and-dance man, impressionist and story-teller. The show is quite varied and extremely well-paced. He reprises all of the famous characters he created for stage, screen and TV. In between, he shares funny behind-the-scenes stories, timely jokes about current events and his quick one-liner asides are drop-dead hysterical. During a few brief costume changes, entertaining highlights of his best performances played on a large screen. I arrived having no idea what to expect and exited a huge fan. I would gladly see Martin Short again and again. He's up there with all the greats!

The show was good; although it started 20 minutes late and probably 20% was from videos of old footage. The footage was hysterical, and added to the show, but was a little unusual as you pay to see someone live. He performed a lot of the characters you know and love. My big issue was the seats at Andiamos. We bought the most expensive seats and at table 35 we were under the video screen so couldn't see it at all without getting out of our seats. As this was a lot of the show it was too bad, especially for the money we paid.

I was kind of disappointed. Martin did not do one of my favorite characters - Ed Grimley! And he seemed like he was trying too hard to throw in some adult style humor which I was not expecting from him at all either. His act just didn't seem to flow - it was kind of all over the place. I probably would not go to see him again if I had the chance. The venue is awesome though and the reason behind being there made it worthwhile - fundraising for Forgotten Harvest...and a night out with Hubby sans kids :o)

It appears that he has been doing this comedy routine since the 1980's. All his material was really old. I love Martin Short. He's been great in dramatic movies/shows as well as his comedic endeavors of pushing the envelope of fun! However, the sound was so off at this event that not only was this a distraction, but at times, I couldn't understand things clearly. I just had a sense that Short didn't really want to be with us in Detroit. He seemed off, just going through his show without much zest. Maybe ill??? Utilizing old clips was a nice trip through memory lane, yet seemed more like filler --- not to mention their poor quality. Too, I hadn't realized that so much time would be spent on Forgotten Harvest needs prior to his act. I also love Forgotten Harvest, but what a boring waste of time to have to sit through so much (more than other charitable events I've attended). The live auction was a drag. People kept getting up during it as well as during the headliner in numbers unusual. Maybe too much booze??? Sorry this is such a negative review --- even I don't like to re-read it :(

Martin Short did multiple characters, including make-up and costume changes covered by video hi-lites from his career that had the audience laughing even before he came out to do the character live. He told a couple of inside show business stories that I would have liked more of, but there was also that wink and nod to vaudeville with throw-away lines and gags. He was GREAT! Constant laughs. Laughed so hard I had trouble breathing. Remember, his lowest low is higher than your highest high.

Martin Short is a very likable comedian, who I've seen before on Broadway. Watching his show in Las Vegas was somewhat familiar as it is pretty much a replication of everything he has done in the past, only updated slightly with more current topics. Overall, it was pleasant but nothing terrific. It was a night's entertainment.

Show started with a movie montage of his movies and characters. Nothing new. Nothing funny. Just old retreads.

The show began with a number of clips from Martin Short's great character portrayals. Unfortunately, that was followed by his appearance on stage. It felt like I was watching Henny Youngman at a Catskill resort. The jokes were forced, and a musical number about the capture of Osama Bin Laden was outdated to say the least.

We were in the same room with one of the finest comedic actors of this generation -- Martin Short! Cool! But, frankly it wasn't what we expected. The show depended a lot on past glories, which are many, but nothing really side-splitting. Fun show, though.
