Bringinging the orchestral arrangements from her last album to the stage made this the most memorable of Sarah's concerts. The result was a wonderful evening.

What can I say? Sarah Slean is one of the most talented artists I have ever had the pleasure to see and hear. Her music has an ethereal quality and people liken her to Kate Bush. However, I would have to say that Sarah is just so much more than Kate. Sarah is charming, funny, witty, and engaging. Each time I have seen her, she has had her audience completely bewitched and eating out of her hand. I overheard people in the audience commenting on the fact that she seems to only ever play in small venues. I'm sure that is because she likes to connect with the audience in a very personal way. Her style lends itself to an intimate venue. I would love to see her in a piano bar. Perhaps I am a dinosaur, but I must say that I was rather perturbed to discover that the young man seated next to me was recording the entire concert on what I believe was an iPhone. It detracted from my enjoyment of the show when I considered that tickets for the concert were only $30 per person. Is this now acceptable? And if so, how do artists make a decent living? Bottom line, I will see Sarah Slean any time she comes to Vancouver!

I have seen Sarah many times and she always delivers a wonderful performance. This was no exception, showcasing her new CD while still performing some "vintage Slean". Fine band, and I only wish that she had had the sell-out audience that she deserved. She performed two sets, with no opening act (for which I am grateful).
