this gig was without Judas Priest at the casino so booth seating. Had a great spot nest to lights and sound so I was able to stand up and dance without obstructing any fans view. You need the room to dance, as thin lizzy has you rocking from the moment they kicked off. Thin lizzy never really left after Phil Lynott died, they have rocked along all this time. Saw them in Milwaukee 10 years or so before this one. Guitar playing was at it's finest as the three remaining vetrans and the 3 new guys are wonderful together. Very good concert, loved dancin' in the moonlight, don't believe a word, and of course the classics of jailbreak and the cowboy song. Don't miss this opportunity. Had a blast. 46 years old wishin I would have seen them in the 70's.

As a long-time fan, I was so excited to see the band touring again. I twice missed them when they came around in the late 70's and early 80's. My concerns about them having lost the energy and magic (i.e. the last Who Tour) were put to rest within the first few bars of the first song. So great. The quality of the songs shines through. They still sound as fresh today, as all those years ago. It is disappointing that they never really made in the US. With such timeless songs, it was too bad that the younger demographic was missing from the show. Even with a 1/2 sold out crowd, those guys played like they were at Radio City or O2.

Went to see the revamped Thin Lizzy last night in Detroit. What a show, the current lineup includes original drummer Brian Downey, original guitarist Scott Gorham, guitarist Vivian Campbell (Def Leppard/DIO), bassist Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake, Ted Nugent), singer Ricky Warwick and keyboardist Darren Wharton (latter years Thin Lizzy). Personally, I am a professional guitarist with 31 years playing experience, I was hoping for some good guitar work (Les Paul heaven) and not much else; but I was pleasantly surprised. The singer really held his own, and worked the crowd very, very well-he's from Dublin, so the Irish accent helped-I think. The bass player was exceptional and really played Phil's parts perfectly. I can honestly say this band jelled very well and of course Vivian's playing was incredible. He absolutely nailed Gary Moore's solo in Black Rose and if you are familiar with that song you know what a killer solo he did in that. The guitar harmonies were just spot on, I ended up in the front row against the stage, got to shake Scott Gorham's hand and he gave me a guitar pick-really cool. Wish the camera worked better in low light but I got a few good shots and some video. I haven't seen this professional a group in years, they, just tore it up. I really can say I got more than my monies worth. They are done with North America, but heading back to Europe for the second leg of the tour. If gas wasn't as expensive as it is, I would have gotten tickets to the final show in Chicago and gone, I enjoyed it that much.

This lineup has to be the best thing that's happened to TL in ages...The band was super-tight, performed an exceptional collection of tunes from throughout the band's history, and just nailed every element of what makes a great show. Viv Campbell and Scott Gorham make a formidable duo on guitars - every break, solo, harmony lead were spot-on and they looked as though they had been playing together forever. Vocals were strong all around - newcomer Ricky Warwick did a really fine job on lead Vox in a very difficult role - stepping into the shoes of one of Rock's most unique and charismatic frontmen. He sounded great, and did a really nice job of bringing his best to the performance while respectfully making a point of paying tribute to Phil Lynott on a number of occasions - well done. The band as a whole played exceptionally well - they are really at top form, and looked to be having a great time together on the stage. Really great show.

this was the worst show i've ever attended. the venue is great, too bad thin lizzy wasn't. the sound was horrible, the band has the worst stage presence, any local garage band would have been better. i never bothered seeing them in the 70's and i'm sorry i wasted my time and money seeing them in this decade.

As a long time Thin Lizzy fan it was great to have Brian Downey and Scott Gorham together again. All the band members sounded excellent in this new line up. Vivian Campbell did great service to the Lizzy tunes as well as Mendozza and Wharton. Ricky Warwick had big shoes to fill, but did a tremendous job and having that Belfast background certainly helped. With Gary Moore in mind, it was nice to hear Black Rose and Do Anything You Want To with a whole bunch of drums! Of course all the classics were performed Live & Dangerous for 90+ minutes at the Keswick Theater. Please Don't Go, return to the East Coast soon!

First time at the Starland and I found it smaller than I expected but it was all good. It was a good intimate club to see a concert and there was not a bad view to be had. I was easily able to get up to the front of the stage. As for Thin Lizzy, I've been a huge fan for years but some how never got to the Lynott led original and I've always regretted it. While it's not really Thin Lizzy without Lynott, in my humble opinion, it was well worth the 2 hour trip I had to make to see the concert. The whole band seemed into the performance and I was the most impressed with Viv Campbell on guitar. Just a blistering set by what I would think is the next best thing in some time to the original version. I really enjoyed their setlist, as they changed it from what I had expected would be a replay of the Live and Dangerous setlist. I'll will definitely see this version of Thin Lizzy again in the future if they continue on!

This line up of Thin Lizzy was great. I was very impressed with how good the singer was and how similar he sounded to Phil Lynott. The band was tight! Great to see some of original players: Gorham, Downey & the keyboard player along with Marco Mendozza and Vivian Campbell. Vivian was a great surprise as you would never tell he was this talented by Def Leppard's material. The band did tribute Lynott as well as recently passed Gary Moore (I miss him too). My son who's a 14 YO guitarist was fascinated by the guitar work...all the way up to 3 part harmonies (on the guitars!) Great Band, Great Show...very glad I made it!

Without question one of the best shows I've ever seen! and I've seen a lot! No one can replace Phil, but Ricky Warwick sung those songs like he was born to, and he paid the utmost respect to Phil, Gary, and all that Thin Lizzy means to Ireland and the world. Don't miss this show! This is what rock is all about!

The great, much overlooked and suddenly much appreciated wonderfulness that is the remarkable THIN LIZZY. There has been a bunch of online banter over the years that when Scott Gorham reactivated the Lizzy brand, whether or not it should have been done or not. Yes, we all know that Phil Lynott is gone and 2011 marks the 25th anniversary of his passing and I for one was thrilled when Gorham, Brian Downey, Darren Wharton & John Sykes first went out in the mid to late ‘90 s and once again raised the Lizzy flag for all to bask in the greatness of Philo s masterful works. I was too young to have been able to have seen the real Thin Lizzy of the ‘70 s for their final trek over here to the US, so I always thought it was awesome to be able to actually see some of the people that actually made those amazing recordings, with or without Phil. It s the songs that need to never be forgotten! 2011 finds a re-tinkered Thin Lizzy Lineup featuring of course, The Legendary Guitar God, Scott Gorham, the return of original Thin Lizzy drummer, the one and only Brian Downey, Lizzy keys player, Darren Wharton, former Dio Guitar God in his own right, Vivian Campbell (a lifelong Lizzy fan) bassist from the original Lizzy re-launch, Marco Mendoza and new singer/frontman Ricky Warwick from the UK band The Almighty. Now even I, a massive Lizzy fan was a bit nervous of this new lineup. Gone was the flashy and virtuoso styling s of guitar and vocals of John Sykes, which would be big shoes to fill, but at the same time I had confidence in Gorham and what he was putting together. Friday night in New York City, with a ¾ filled Best Buy Theater in the heart of Times Square, comes the newest version of Thin Lizzy. Re-tooled and more stream lined to the Live & Dangerous era Lizzy, NYC is crushed with the thunderous opening notes to notorious Lizzy set opener, Are You Ready. Newcomer, Ricky Warwick looks primed, ready and excited to set the mood for the hungry NYC Lizzy faithful as they roll right into the Black Rose classic, Waiting For An Alibi. Warwick sounds good but isn t trying to sound like Phil, vocally, which is sort of a good thing but Lynott s unmistakable cadence is slightly missed. Next up is the 1976 classic, Jailbreak, where it becomes evident that Vivian Campbell was a great twin lead guitar choice as he completely channels his inner Brian Robbo Robertson throughout this set pulling out mostly note for note reincarnations of Robbo s unmistakable Wha Wha laden, Bluesy runs. A surprise in the set was Do Anything You Want To Do, another great tune from 1979 s Black Rose (that features incredible guitar work from Gary Moore!!) complete with the Gorham, Campbell, Warwick and Mendoza all pounding floor tom drums ala the actual video for the song from 79. A pretty cool idea and something very much NOT expected. YouTube the original video kids!! Pretty funny stuff. Having Brian Downey back in the band completely adds a dimension that was lost once he retired from the band some years ago. Downey has this swing to his drumming that is undeniable and adds an authenticity that is just so needed. The highlight of the night for me was seeing another unexpected song, Wild One from 1975 s Fighting (my personal favorite album!). Being witness to the most gorgeous harmony guitar lead was just pure magic. This was a great night for all. Gorham was in great form and looked so appreciative of the almost full room and his playing was spot on. His solo in the always crowd favorite, Dancing in the Moonlight was note for note perfect from the Live & Dangerous record and one of the great highlights for the night. But where were the Saxophone lines? Keyboard player Darren Wharton didn t chime in with them and neither did Viv and that was something that was missing in that classic!! Another highlight was the much anticipated solo in Still In Love With You. First recorded by Gary Moore on the Night Life album in 74 and then immortalized by Brian Robertson on ‘78 s, Live & Dangerous and then once again brilliantly done by John Sykes on the final Thin Lizzy live album Life, there are some pretty big shoes to have to step into, but enter Vivian Campbell. Viv simply nailed it! Playing it down the middle as a combination of Gary s and Robbo s versions, Viv tore it up, electrifying the crowd and the crowd let him know of their approval. Ricky Warwick was the piece of this new Thin Lizzy puzzle that everyone was really awaiting to see. How would he pull off singing Phil s vocals? How is he going to incorporate a 3rd guitar into the mix? Does he sound anything like Phil? In a nutshell, Warwick did a very honorable job, not trying to replicate Lynott but being very respectful. He sang the tunes like himself but being an Irishman himself, you couldn t help but hear a little Philo in there. Warwick did suffer from a rather poor vocal mix which didn t help out the crowd to hear him as clearly as one would have liked but the gist was gotten. Warwick had a guitar strapped to him for 95% of the evening, strumming in rhythms on both electric and acoustic guitars and enjoying the hell out of himself singing songs from his self proclaimed favorite band in the world. What was missing? To be honest what was missing was the element of a Rock Star. That is something that John Sykes brought to the table. Warwick did a fine job of singing but isn t much of a frontman that commands your attention. And Vivian Campbell, for however amazing his guitar playing was, he stayed to back of the stage much of the night only coming forward to chip in his backing vocals or to click on the Wha Wha pedal. This I found to be a bit odd, as I know Viv was originally disappointed that he didn t get the original Lizzy gig back in 1982 when Sykes did! I expected him to be a bit more upfront and not so much in the background, but his playing was quite excellent so, there ya go. This was a great show to have been a part of. Lizzy ripped through 18 classics and left the crowd wanting more. It was pretty cool to hear Whiskey in the Jar thrown in, but for me I would have rather had a song like Opium Trail or Bad Reputation in the set instead, but that being said this was a great return for Thin Lizzy in NYC. Remember folks, this is about celebrating the legacy of Philip Parris Lynott and his band that gave us all countless songs that should be played and remembered by generations to come. If Lizzy is rolling into your town or anywhere close to you, do yourself a favor and go. You will be glad that you did! Lizzy Rules!!

Thin Lizzy was amazing. They played for 1 hour and 45 minutes of non stop bone cruching metal. Scott Gorham and Brian Downey blew me away. These guys can still rock after all these years. Darren Wharton's keyboard and vocal skills were top notch. Rickey Warwick's vocals were drowned out by Lizzy's blood curdeling sound, but was very active playing guitar and making sure to honor the late great Phil Lynnott.and also Gary Moore. Rickey's stage presence was A1. Vivian Campbell always makes any band that he's in that much better. Marco Mendoza's bass playing was tight..They played about 20 songs and had 2 encores that produced 4 songs. I hope these guys record new material together. It's been 2 days since i've seen the show and still havn't got back my full hearing capacity. Thin Lizzy should be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame for all of their accomplishments over 40 years. Start the petition today!

First, just let me compliment the venue. It was the first time for me, at the Best Buy Theater and I was very impressed. Everything was first rate, from the staff to the hall to the pricing. I will definitely be back. Thin Lizzy was nearly perfect. Vivian Campbell from Def Leppard, was on fire the whole night. I have always thought he was a great player, but his obvious love for the Lizzy tunes and vibe seemed to inspire the whole band. Brian Downey on drums was the reason I was there. In my mind, he and Scott Gorham are just as important to Lizzy as Phil and I probably would not have gone if either of those fellows was not there. The show was a celebration of the legacy of Lizzy and of those the band has lost. Phil and Gary Moore were both mentioned and there was some nostalgia in the air. I have to say though, this is not a tribute act. This is the real deal. This is a first rate rock n roll band firing on all cylinders ! I had some issues with the setlist...I think opening with, "Are You Ready?", in my opinion a weak Lizzy tune, wasn`t the best idea. I would have liked to have seen some tunes from "Thunder and Lightening" included. Overall, a great show though.

Very solid performance by a band full of top notch musicians. The band were really enjoying themselves and the crowd was feeding off the enthusiasm. No flat spots in this show, they went for it and rocked out for the entire set. If I had to call anyone out for a MVP it would be Vivian Campbell. He was performing at a level I haven't seen him at in awhile, his playing/shredding was impeccable. His interplay with Scott Gorham was outstanding and was faithful to the the Thin Lizzy legacy. I hope they can keep this lineup intact, would definately attend another show. Highly recommend to others who enjoy guitar oriented rock n roll.

A great nights entertainment. The band rocked out the music and sound a lot sharper than the last time I heard them in NY. Great to see Brian Downey behind the drum set, adds a lot to the band. Ricky Warwick is well able to handle the lyrics and a great sound all around. They seem to be enjoying themselves which is what it is all about! I hope they make it an annual. Best Buy is a great location, a poor sound quality, but a great venue for such an event and the staff were very professional. The sound can be fixed! Thanks to all who made it a great night!

Thin Lizzy has the same problem as Manzarek/Krieger. No matter who they hire as a frontman, he won't be as good as the original. That said, Thin Lizzy carried on and did quite well Thurs. night. Six piece band, three members from the Lynott era (Gorham, Downey and Wharton), two great players from "name" bands (Mendoza and Campbell, from Whitesnake, Nugent, Def Leppard), and a great new relatively unknown (in the US anyway) frontman, Ricky Warwick. Just looking at the band's post-Lynott history, this has got to be their strongest lineup yet.

Thin LIzzy 2011 are not some has beengroup or tribute band--they are the real deal. From their opening song "Are you Ready" through their touching tribute to Gary Moore in "Black Rose"-these boys still know how to rock. I have seen some great concerts over the years including but not limited to The Eagles, The Who, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kiss and AC/DC; and let me tell you; THIN LIZZY ranks in the tops of the list as best live act you will ever see. Ricky Warwick does a great job on lead vocals and at times, you would swear you are listening to Phil Lynott again!! Scott Gorham still rips it up on guitar and what can you say about Vivian Campbell? One of the greatest guitar players there is and was and finally great to see him getting to unleash his lead talents on the Lizzy stage. Brian Downey was great on the drums and nice to see him back in the fold; Marco Mendoza was absolutely superb at playing Phil's basslines. Go see this show if you get chance!!

I was a little curious as to how they would be. I've seen a lot of classic bands make the rounds with one or two original members and usually they are just mailing it in. Not this time! WOW! These guys came out and began rockin' with "Are You Ready?"and went balls to the walls until their final encore "Black Rose". Scott Gorham and Brian Downey have brought "Live and Dangerous" back to the stage. The band is very very tight! CLOSE YOUR EYES! IT"S THE '70's! RIP Phil and Gary !!

Anticipation was high and expectations also were high.I had seen Thin Lizzy four times in the 70's and last saw the original line up with Phil Lynott,in 1983.Thin Lizzy, was a powerhouse band that never received the recognition they deserved. I have also seen the last 3 incarnations of Thin Lizzy. This line up,compares to the original.Vivian Campbell, has brought new life to the band.Brian Downey,on drums and Scot Gorham on lead are the only two members left of the orginal. The Penns Peak, venue was the kick off of the 2011 World Tour.It was a blast to see a much different set list then previously performed. The last three times through we got the Live and Dangerous, tour played. Been a huge Lizzy fan since high school (graduated in '84) and finally got to see the revamped band in Ponte Vedra. Of course, the late great Philip Lynott is sorley missed, however, the new band was tight and sounded terrific. Scott Gorham was great. Brian Downey was awesome. Darren Wharton was engaged and seemed to really be enjoying himself. The new singer did an admirable job, especially when you consider the shoes he has to fill. The new guitarist sounds good but I was somewhat disappointed that John Sykes no longer plays in the new band. I think It would be incredible to get Brian "Robbo" Robertson back in the band. Marco Mendoza (Ted Nugent, Whitesnake) is an absolute MONSTER on bass. The bottom line: A great energetic show, featuring legendary music performed by tremendous musicians in an intimate venue. Would go back and see them again in heartbeat. Also, got to meet and hang out with many cool people at this show which is always neat.

Thin Lizzy was and still is an amazing band. Yes we know and understand that Phil Lynott has not been with the band since his un-timely death, yet they still rock all the tunes you remember. With great energy, Ricky Warwick fills the shoes of Phil, and that's no easy task. Scott Gorham has been such a great guitar player and the reason so many people went out and bought a Les Paul guitar to play in their garage bands still plays every riff and lead note for note. With the recent addition of Damon Johnson on guitar, he and Scott sound like they have been playing the harmony leads together for the last 25 years. Marco Mendoza on bass brings incredible energy, bouncing all over the stage. Last but not least, Brian Downey rocks the drum kit with a brief drum solo to let you know who is the foundation and the heart beat of this band. I went in hoping for something good, and man they delivered. Somewhere Phil has a big smile on his face I'm sure.

This was my first time seeing Thin Lizzy and it met my expectations. I've watched a number of excellent shows this year and TL did not make the top 5. This is a very solid band with an exceptional lead guitar and drummer. However, the show seemed to ebb and flow. One song would be stellar and the next one not so much. What a fantastic night of 'Rip it up Rock'.... the three original members of Thin Lizzy rocked as hard as the new members, Rick on Vocals sounded just like the late Great Phil Lynott and Viv Campbell on lead guitar....well it was just a virtuoso performance. Pity more rock fans didnt come out to see them... there was probably less than a 1000 fans.. but it didnt stop the members of Lizzy giving a performance as if they were in a stadium with 60,000 fans. Unbelievable value for the the $20 odd dollars i paid for a ticket...great great night...thanks Thin Lizzy....

THIN LIZZY ROCKED!! Was unsure about this show but WOW! Ended up being very very fun. Soundboard is a great venue...would love to see another show there. Drinks are pricy. The hotel was surprisingly pleasant with beautiful rooms! CLEAN! CLEAN! The rooms were clean, but hallway getting there was not...dirty carpet, trash left out. Highly recommend the SPA! Top notch valet and bell service.

We were fortunate enough to see the most recent incarnation of Thin Lizzy in Detroit. Of course, Phil Lynott is very missed, but the show was just spectacular and musically extremely tight. Any Lizzy fans should not miss the opportunity to see this show!

I have been a huge fan of Thin Lizzy since the 70's, and this is the first time I have ever seen them. Scott and Brian were AMAZING, along with the rest of the band. Phillip Lynott were have been proud. RIP Phil and Gary Moore.

Would recommend seeing just about anyone at the Keswick. The venue doesn't get much better. EVERY seat is a great seat. In a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, you can sit back and enjoy the show. The bar & concessions are good. Parking is the best around (& free!).

Band was sharp, and played with enthusiasm, was this underlying feeling from the very small crowd, that Detroit fans didnt show up.

Had no idea Thin Lizzy had reformed as a super group. Tight, energetic, authentic and enthusiastic portrayal of a classic by a great rendition of Thin Lizzy. Came in with low expectations and was knocked out of my socks.

Lizzy came out with 'Are You Ready" We were and So were they!! I have seen them 5 times since Phil died and this was by far the Best!! I did see them once with Phil but I was in the 8th grade and didn't realize the greatness I was witnessing. Scott is the most underrated musician in the most underrated band in the history of Music.Ditto Brian Downey.Vivian:Brilliant. Marco:Awesome. Darren: Amazing. Ricky:What an addition!!!. Obviously I Love Thin Lizzy but I dare anyone who was there to say it was nothing less than sensational. They were, with Phil, and still are simply, the Greatest Rock-n-Roll Band in the World!!! They also just happen to be the nicest group of fellows you would ever want to meet. I implore everyone who likes rock music to do ypurself a favor and see this great group of guys collectively known as THIN LIZZY!!!!!
