An evening with Casey is more than just about the music - it's like you've been invited into her family home. Casey is a lovely storyteller, with her stories of growing up and being on the road complementing nicely with her music. All our favourites were played along with some fun musical arrangements that allow each member of the band to shine in their own way. With the homely atmosphere of the Birchmere, it was a great night out.

I am not sure I can give an unbiased review. I am a huge Kasey Chambers fan - just having her walk on stage is 5 stars for me. Her voice is more impressive live, the musicians that accompany her are impeccable and the stories behind the songs are great. I wish she had a big enough following in the US to have her tour with a full band (she does acoustic only). I want to hear Barricades and Brickwalls in all its glory.

The Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson concert was awesome. I loved how she would "show off" then Shane would take a turn at showing off, and then Kasey's dad would show off. It was very good concert.

Had not heard Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson before which was different then most of the people there. Got to meet some new friends!! Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson played a number of songs that I enjoyed. Was nice to see that Kasey Chambers's father was there and sat in on a large number of songs.

I am so glad I ponied up for this concert. Shane, Kasey, & her Dad know what the hell they're doing. Rootsy, folky, fantastic. They truly connect with the audience, too. Normal people with wonderful gifts. Funny, too!

My first time to the Fizgerald as well as my first time seeing Kasey Chambers. A beautiful venue and a great, great concert. Kasey's personality, wit, and interactions with her father and her husband seemed genuine. As entertaining between songs as during them. I could not have enjoyed it more. I look forward to Shane's solo work as well. Wonderful voices and wonderful material. See then if you can.

I have been a Kasey fan for years and it was great to see her with Shane and her dad. Flawless vocals, great banter between Kasey and Shane as a married couple. Loved that they did a good mix of Kasey's stuff without Shane, and his material. My wife could not make the show so I took my 9 year old daughter who has become a fan. Her and I do Rattlin ' Bones together, dad and daughter singing and playing together. Very family friendly show especially when Kasey and dad did numbers from their forthcoming childrens album. Great stuff, very touching.

Just a few words about the warm-up Justin Townes Earle. A chip of the old man but with a twisted country edge and classic country sound. Great banter between songs. I've been to Kasey Chambers shows before and they were fantastic. The added dynamic of her husband Shane Nicholson made this show at the Fitz even better. The two are talented in their own right and awesome side by side. Kasey was as funny as ever between tunes. Awsome show!

As usual, Kasey was funny, silly and sounded great! She's so entertaining and just makes you smile. Can't wait to get her new album this week when it's released in the states. Loved all the new songs. Why is she not a bigger star here? It was nice for the fans that the Bowery wasn't too crowded, but Kasey deserves a bigger audience!!

Here's someone who really enjoys what she's doing and has a great time playing music. When someone can evoke such joy the music is always better for it. The band is rather stripped down. Her dad plays guitar and Kasey is joined by two relatively new additions playing fiddle and string instruments, mandolin, guitar and banjo. What amazing energy!! She played new and old material. She wanted everyone to have a good time and that's what happened. Bowery Ballroom is a great venue. It wasn't crowded as Kasey doesn't get here very often (busy making babies and raising them) and that's unfortunate (not the baby stuff). Kasey really knows how to relate to the audience and was very chatty but in a fun way. She is so gracious and grateful to be able to do what she loves it shows. Only wish she'd come back more often.

What a great show! This was my first time seeing Kasey live, and I was expecting something good but she exceeded any expectations. The singing and playing by all members of the band were top notch. Her concert is always a must see. Kasey has an incredible voice. Her dad accompanies her and is as talented, playing the slide guitar. There are four musicians, including Kasey and her dad, who all play strings instruments. Having attended a gazillion concerts, hers is the most fun. She and her group are very interactive and totally engage the audience. Kasey is someone you could be friends with! Very comfortable people from Austrailia. Also, very affordable tickets. Wilbur Theater was great. Small and intimate, like being in her living room! Only problem, seats are way too small and on top of each other, so fortunately I was able to find a more comfortable seat. Many people relocated because they uncomfortable. Would love to see her perform again in the next city.

Kasey Chambers was wonderful. She played with her dad, Bill, who is a wonderful steel slide guitarist, and a blonde woman named Ashley who played violin, guitar, mandolin and other things (extremely well, and she had a good voice too), and Mark, who played banjo, bass and guitar. They all had a lot of fun and engaged the audience a lot. Kasey is six months pregnant and was wearing a white stretchy dress, so I was sort of looking for Captain Ahab, but she had good energy and sang wonderfully. She writes good songs. They were very generous performers and my entire party enjoyed the concert. I will buy her CDs.

I've been a fan of Kasey Chambers for several years now and have always dreamed of seeing her in concert. Last year I saw she was goin to be in Chicago and was wondering if that would be the closest she'll ever be to me (I live in Minnesota) and then a few months ago I saw some US tour dates for her and Shane Nicholson and St. Paul was listed! I was extremely stoked. I made plans immediately to go to the show. The day finally came and I was so excited. I was hoping to meet Kasey and Shane and I DID! I happened to run into them before the show and that was so cool. The show was unbelievable. It was just them accompanying themselves and also Kasey's dad Bill played on a few tunes. I can't even begin to describe how it felt to see Kasey and Shane in concert. I had tears in my eyes several times throughout the evening. They had amazing musicianship and stage presence. Their banter onstage was so entertaining as well. I recommend anyone to check out Kasey and Shane when you get the chance!

Kasey and Shane are true musicians! They harmonize beautifully and play their instruments as if they were born with them in their hands. I am not a country music fan per se, but I did enjoy this very much. They are talented and personable performers who interacted very well with the audience. A lot of sound for two (sometimes three) musicians. It was clear that many in the audience had seen them before on this tour and had returned to see them again. The Birchmere was a perfect venue. Now I would like to see Shane tour!

Much to my surprise, not only was Kasey's music amazing, their opening act with Kim Taylor was amazing as well!!! The evening flew by with amazing musical talent. Kasey and Shane came to the Birchmere last year and she related very well to the audience, put on a really good show and people were happy. To me it felt as though they were still working out the show format and getting comfortable touring with the new songs. There weren't so many older Kasey tunes. The Birchmere crowd is pretty old, very old, so they are generally more reserved. On this visit, Kasey really stepped it up a few notches. There was a n even better communication with the audience and the selist and format of the show was great. They really mixed it up and she did more old tunes, which the audience enjoyed. She commented on how they felt it was the best show of last year and had high expectations for the return. It couldn't have been much better. We'll see how the show is at Rams Head in Annapolis next week.

First time I have been to the intimate Fitzgerald and it was the best setting for the show that was put on by Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson; along with the excellent opening act of Justin Townes Earle, truely a night to be remembered. Justin Townes Earle is now a new favorite, have listened to his father for years but Justin is an amazing songwirter and very talented musician in his own right. His rendition of Paul Westerburgs' "Can't Hardly Wait" was sweet and really connected with the local crowd. Kasey Chambers, her husband and father brought to the stage a delight of music that can't be captured with any genre caption it was worldly and from life and the heart EXCELLENT show! Thank you all!

Absolutely stunning. Those who were there were treated to something special. Those who did not go, or who do not know of Kasey, Shane, and the Australian alt.country scene, missed out and are missing out. This solo acoustic show, fronted by Justin Townes Earle, and with daddy Bill Chambers stepping on stage to join Kasey and Shane from time to time, was top shelf. Funny. Moving. Solid. Lasting. A truly great show by some truly great musicians and entertainers.

Kasey was amazing. The set was long and her energy was un-matched. I was SO happy to have finally seen Kasey live after discovering her back in 2001. I brought a friend and he is STILL singing "shackles & chains." Loved the opening act, loved the camaraderie Kasey had with her band and I loved the intimate feeling of the venue. This is right up there with the best of them.

My wife and I have seen Kasey a half-dozen times now and this was her best show. After obviously successful throat surgery, she sounded stronger and more robust and confident than ever. Excellent new songs, a good selection from the older canon and a cover of a White Stripes standard made for a great night. The new guys (drums and guitar) are very good, solid bass playing as always and it helped that she appeared to be having a blast. Great to see her Dad Bill along once again flashing some nice guitar chops all night long. Now if we could only get Kasey and Paul Kelly to tour together again...

As usual, Kasey Chambers delivered an excellent, high energy show. Her band was tight, and her usual but very interesting and exciting vocals did justice to her songs. She seems to really enjoy her audience and the chance to make music for them. The only negative really, and this is not attributable to her is that the Sinclair is a fairly terrible venue. Croweded, uncomfortable, fairly grungy. I'll not return there.

Kasey and Bill were in characteristically great form at the Birchmere (Alexandria VA) with new backup that fit perfectly her evolving style of play. Her setlist complemented a new harder sound, with more electrification and amplification than earlier periods, especially when she sang with Shane Nicholson. Mixing old and new selections throughout, she relied as always on strong singing and her guitar playing has stepped up to match. Songs from her new album were featured, but she did not disappoint fans of Not Pretty Enough, Pony, The Captain and Barricades and Brickwalls which were delivered more as rock than country, The latter favorite was her choice for the final encore and she and band left the stage having rocked the appreciative audience out of their seats.

I have listened to Kasey Chambers music for 14 years but this is the first time I seen her live and it was great. Extremely entertaining and ton of fun. Kasey was very engaged with her fans the music was on point. The band was an interesting mix of young and old that worked so well. Kasey's father showed much skill with multiple guitars and added solid vocals. The young guys showed skill beyond their years while playing all of kasey's hits. Kasey is a great song writer and story teller and seeing her live punctuates the fact that she is extremely talented and entertaining. Great show and can't wait to see her again.

I've now had the good fortune to see Kasey live for a 2nd time, and it's an amazing show. Her voice is so clear and so controlled - it's amazing how much raw talent she has - one of the few cases where I'd say live is better than an album. Concert was excellent!! Fun and very entertaining!! Loved it. We have been to the Birchmere 4 times and have always had excellent service...this time it totally SUCKED!! We were not even approached for at least 15 minutes, then I got my food and my husband did too but it was not what he ordered...so needless to say by the time I finished my dinner his finally came...we asked FIVE different servers where his food was. We were never asked if we wanted refills etc....SUCKED, SUCKED, SUCKED!! we were right of the stage...oh and my sweet potato must have been in the oven for a week....it was so overcooked I could not eat it...I would have sent it back but we had NO server!!

After Bill Chambers, Kasey's dad, led off with a couple of good songs from his new album, delivered in his raspy, story telling voice the abundantly pregnant Kasey came out on stage to perform some of her older favorites like "Not Pretty Enough", "Pony" and "the Captain" and a couple from her new album "Little BIrd". Kasey was delightful and paired very well vocally with her violinist, Ashley Dallas (who hopes to solo album soon), all the time regaling us with stories of her childhood and later touring the world as a singer. My 32 year old son, who was totally unfamiliar with Kasey, had a great time and ended up becoming a fan and even purchasing Bill's new album. I've been aware of Kasey Chambers for a few years and missed a chance to see her at Irving Plaza a couple of years ago. Really glad for the opportunity at the Bowery Ball Room.

A great show at a great venue, Kasey Chambers delivers a strong performance. Kasey has one of the most powerful voices in music, with a clear and clean sound. While a native of Australia, she sounds as if she could be from the American Midwest, ranging from Country to Bluegrass. Right now, she is touring for Little Bird, which is her latest release. As good as The Captain and Barricades & Brickwalls, Kasey again visits her childhood and life, singing from the heart. Her father is one of her big collaborators in song writing, and the influence in the music is clearly there. Especially in a feeling that this music really means something to her, and she wants to share that with the audience. The show is a real joy to watch, and she is very entertaining even when not singing. A definite opportunity to take, if you've ever heard of her and want to actually see her perform live.

Stood in line 3 hours to get front row seats. That was not the bad part though---during the show people were using their phones to take videos and non-flash pictures. This was very distracting since it was going on all around us and everytime someone turned them on, it distracted your attention away from the show. They need to find a way to stop all electronics in the venue. We loved Kasey though and went to see her the next night in Knoxville, TN.

She is down to earth, funny, in exceptional voice. She sang songs over the range of her catalog - including a few covers. She has a really versital band, including her dad on steel guitar - an 18 year old girl on fiddle, mandolin and backup vocals - and a guy playing guitar banjo and mandolin. Such a relaxed easygoing show - the Birchmere was packed and everyone just loved it. She is 6 months pregnant - so setting down was best for all of the band. They were having a really amazingly good time and so was the audience. Its too bad that she is not well enough known in the states. She tells her life back story and some of the songs fill this out too. One between her and her dad - a question and answer one was especially touching. The encores were on requests - this is not a "slick" show - you feel like you are in their living room and they are playing their hearts out to entertain.
